This is my second book by Holly Danvers and the second in the Little White Lies series.

Although a different group of characters, there is a connection revealed at the end. This installment is packed full of gossiping neighbours, secrets, lies, people hiding in plain sight, and a playroom that made an appearance and made me clutch my pearls.

This story begs the question - how well do we know our neighbours? 

The neighbours are gathering for a "Booyah". I have no idea what one is but it sounds like fun! They bring food drinks and entertainment, with a supposed side of community. We quickly see that this community is not as tight-knit as it seems. 

Once the whispering and sneaking around begins, you are left to wonder who is hiding the biggest secrets and how far they are willing to go to keep them hidden.

This was a slower build up, atmospheric and sets a scene that envelopes you in the setting. When the action begins it is pacy and it feels like the earlier calm has been shattered. What remains is a trail of destruction.

This is for those that love a small town suburban setting, filled with so many secrets it's hard to know who to trust, and slow burn mysteries.

Thank you Dreamscape and RB Media for this audiobook in exchange for my honest review. I was drawn to choosing Lie In The Bay due to the setting on Green Bay. We have family who live on The Bay. It was fun recognizing the Wisconsin references. This is the second book in the series, but I did not read the first one. This seemed to read just fine as a standalone. This is a great read if you are looking for a neighborhood drama. There are multiple POVs and the reader is left with a mystery of who is involved in the opening scenes, caught with blood on their hands. This was a quick listen and certainly packed with action: a mysterious fire, a secret “play room”, a missing woman, and untrustworthy neighbors. There were two narrators: Christine Williams voices all the female chapters and Rich Miller voices horn-dog Lincoln. I felt like Williams didn’t capture the voices the way I pictured them, which I think made it a bit harder for me to connect to the characters.

Lie in the Bay opens with a gripping first chapter that immediately draws you into the story. Jenna Abrams, mother to Isaac and Shawna, dreams of a peaceful life—sitting on the dock with a cup of coffee, looking out across the water while the smell of banana bread drifts through the air and her children's laughter fills her thoughts. The contrast with her reality is shocking. Instead of enjoying a quiet morning, Jenna finds herself sitting in a police interview room, covered in blood that isn't her own, wondering whether anyone will believe her story. As police photograph her injuries and collect evidence, the enormity of the situation overwhelms her and she passes out. It's a dramatic and intriguing opening that instantly makes you want to know what happened.
The story then takes us back in time to a community Booyah party hosted by Jenna. Among the guests is Dublin Peters, whose arrival hints that something significant is about to happen. It's clear from the beginning that Dublin has returned to town with a purpose—one that could shake the foundations of the entire community. The author keeps Dublin's intentions deliberately vague at first, creating an ominous atmosphere and building anticipation.
Dublin returned to town two years after her mother's death seeking one thing: justice. She wants answers about what really happened to Tori and Mikey Tomkin, a local couple who disappeared during a boating trip. Mikey's body was eventually recovered, but Tori was never found. Their capsized boat was discovered, and the official story suggests that Tori planned to use the trip to tell Mikey she wanted out of their marriage. Dublin, however, believes there is much more to the story. To uncover the truth, she must blend in, gain people's trust, and slowly piece together what happened.
At the end of the party, another guest, Gabrielle, makes a discovery that could be connected to the disappearance of Tori and Mikey. This revelation adds another layer of intrigue and raises even more questions.
Every year, the town holds a memorial for Tori and Mikey—a gathering that no one ever seems to miss, which in itself feels significant. As the story unfolds, it becomes increasingly clear that many people are hiding secrets connected to the tragedy. Little by little, those secrets begin to surface. The novel explores how far people will go to keep the truth buried, creating constant tension throughout the story.
One of the most compelling aspects of the book is wondering whether Dublin will uncover the truth before someone stops her. Is she in danger before she can put her plan into action? This question kept me turning the pages. Dublin cleverly and subtly gathers information whenever she can, and it's incredibly satisfying as a reader to piece together the clues alongside her.
The friendships, hidden agendas, and long-buried secrets keep the story moving at a steady pace, while the central mystery remains fascinating throughout. The ending ties everything together in a satisfying way, delivering both answers and surprises. With a large cast of characters, plenty of drama, and numerous twists along the way, Lie in the Bay is an engaging thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end.

There's a particular kind of comfort in a small town, the kind where everyone waves from their porch, the diner knows your order, and duck hunting season means casseroles and gossip in equal measure. I curled up with Lie in the Bay expecting exactly that kind of cozy, familiar backdrop. What I got instead was a slow, delicious unraveling of just how little "cozy" and "familiar" actually mean once you start looking closely at the people behind the porch lights.

That's the real magic of this book. Holly Danvers doesn't hand you a town full of obvious villains, she hands you neighbours. The kind you'd bring a pie to. The kind you'd trust to watch your dog. And then, one thread at a time, she shows you how much of that trust was never really earned, just assumed.

I found myself thinking about my own street more than once while reading this. Do I actually know the people two doors down, or do I just know the version of them they let me see over the fence? Holly Danvers leans into that unease so gently you almost don't notice it happening until suddenly you're side-eyeing every friendly wave in your own neighbourhood.

The cast here is the real triumph. Colton and Jess, quietly running their Madame Butterfly cam business behind drawn curtains. Linc, devoted on paper, distracted in practice, with a girlfriend who deserves better than his wandering eye. Gabrielle and Alec, keeping up appearances on a budget that clearly can't sustain the lifestyle they're performing for everyone else. Every single one of them is hiding something small, human, and a little bit shameful , the kind of secret that feels enormous to the person carrying it and mundane to everyone else, which is exactly what makes this town feel so real.

And then there's Dublin. As the newcomer, she's our way into this world, but she's no passive observer she arrives with her own grief and her own suspicions, convinced her grandmother's death wasn't the quiet ending everyone assumed it was. Her digging into what really happened to Tori and Mikey three years ago gives the book its backbone, and watching her pull at those old, half-healed wounds is genuinely unsettling in the best way. Old ghosts don't like being disturbed, and this town has plenty of them.

What I loved most was how busy this felt in the warmest sense of the word. This isn't a thriller with one villain and a tidy reveal. It's a whole community, each person clutching their own little bundle of guilt, and Holly Danvers lets us sit with all of them long enough to genuinely suspect and sympathize with nearly everyone. It's the kind of book that makes murder feel less like a shocking anomaly and more like the town's secrets finally boiling over, because with this many people hiding this much, something was always going to give.

By the time the duck hunting season closes and the truth about that bay starts surfacing, you'll find yourself doing the thing I always do after a book like this glancing out the window at your own quiet street, wondering just how well you really know the people living behind those friendly, familiar doors.

A wonderfully unsettling, character-rich small-town thriller that earns its warmth even as it pulls the rug out from under it. Perfect for anyone who loves their murder mysteries served with a side of neighbourly small talk.

Bayshore Lane looks picture-perfect from the outside, but behind the waterfront parties, friendly smiles and neighbourhood gossip, everyone seems to be hiding something. The more I read, the more I found myself wondering… Do you really know your partner? Your friends? Your neighbours? Because on Bayshore Lane, nothing is quite as it seems.

Although Lie in the Bay is marketed as a thriller, I’d personally describe it as a suspenseful domestic crime novel. Rather than relying on a constant sense of danger, the tension comes from watching relationships unravel, uncovering long-buried secrets and discovering just how much deception is woven into the lives of everyone on Bayshore Lane.

One of the things I enjoyed most was watching all the lies slowly unravel. Every chapter peeled back another layer, revealing yet another secret or deception lurking beneath the surface. Just when I thought I’d got a handle on what was going on, Holly Danvers threw in another revelation that had me questioning everything all over again.

I did manage to predict one character’s secret, but the rest genuinely caught me by surprise, which is exactly what I want from this kind of story.

I also loved seeing Mori Hart return after meeting her in Lie in the Tide. It was a lovely connection between the two books while still allowing this story to stand on its own.

The characters are a real mix. Some I loved, others I did not, but that’s exactly how they’re meant to make you feel. My favourites were definitely Dublin and Jenna. Dublin, in particular, had me smiling with her bull-in-a-china-shop approach.

Packed with scandal, gossip, betrayal, murder, drugs, adultery, sex work and plenty of secrets, this is a story that kept me turning the pages to see what would be uncovered next. If you enjoy character-driven domestic crime novels where everyone has something to hide and no one can be trusted completely, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a read.

Bayshore Lane, with its waterfront parties and curated charm, becomes the perfect stage for Holly Danvers to peel back the layers of civility and expose the secrets simmering underneath.

Jenna, Gabrielle, and Dublin each bring their own brand of trouble to the cul‑de‑sac — forbidden desires, risky schemes, carefully hidden motives — and watching their lives begin to crack is as compelling as it is unsettling. The novel thrives on that slow, creeping sense that someone is always watching, always listening, always ready to use what they know. When the gossip turns sharp and the past refuses to stay buried, the tension tightens beautifully, pulling the characters — and the reader — into a spiral of suspicion.

This is an excellent standalone in the White Lies Thrillers from Holly Danvers.

Full of twists and unexpected turns this will captivates from the first to last page. The
residents of the exclusive lakeside Bayshore Lane dwellings are outwardly a close knit
bunch. Lakeside parties and hunting expeditions abound but there are dark secrets and
problems soon begin to appear. Three years previously a prominent couple disappear
while sailing in the Bay. One of the pair is found washed up, apparently drowned, but his
wife Tori was never found. Lincoln a maverick fisherman with a man bun and a fondness
for drink is suspected by all the neighbours of having an affair with Tori before the
accident, which he strongly denies. An annual memorial party is planned for the couple
which stirs up the rumours and many are convinced that Lincoln knows more than he’s
admitting. Another couple is Jenna and her larger than life egotistical husband Colton.
He has money problems after losing his job. The pair are desperate to keep up
appearances and Jenna is persuaded to make porn movies in their secret sex room. She
is being pimped by Colton but the sordid secret is in danger of becoming pupublic.
During one of the beach parties neighbour Gabrielle discovers the secret room and
filming gear. At the same time Lincoln stumbles on the Jenna’s secret whilst browsing a
pay to view porn-site and spots an unmistakable tattoo on the masked porn-star.
Desperate to quench the rumours the characters get deeper and deeper into their lies
until the final ultimate and unexpected twist

Holly Danvers’ Little White Lies Series just keeps getting better and better. I loved book #1, Lie in the Tide, and Lie in the Bay was just as deliciously suspenseful. This book pulls you in from the start, introducing Jenna Abrams, a midwestern mom of two who just wants a peaceful life. Her life is anything but, we learn, when she finds herself covered in blood being interrogated by the police. The story backs up from that point, bringing us to the idyllic lakefront neighborhood of Bayshore Lane. The neighbors here all seem to be great friends as they celebrate with a Booyah party, held in Jenna’s backyard. I was intrigued by this Wisconsin tradition and loved this seemingly friendly setting to get the ball rolling. We soon meet more neighbors and learn of the tragic boating accident of fellow neighbors, Tori and Mikey Tompkin, who seem to be greatly missed. Their deaths were mysterious, and Tori’s body was never found. Then we meet the new neighbor, young Dublin Peters, who has moved into her late mother’s lakeside house. Immediately we are aware that Dublin is there on a mission. She’s trying to blend in with the other neighbors, but she’s also trying to dig up answers. As Dublin knows, there’s something amiss on Bayshore Lane.

The author does a great job introducing the characters, some likeable, some not, while building a layered mystery. This novel pulls you in with secrets, lies, and palpable suspense. Full of twists, turns, and shocking revelations, Lie in the Bay will keep you turning the pages late into the night. It’s the perfect summer read! Holly Danvers is a relatively new voice in this genre, and one worth reading. Highly recommend.

After reading and loving Lie In The Tide last month, I couldn't wait to dive into this, book 2 of the Little White Lies thriller series.

 

Once again, drawn to this by the gorgeous front cover - another summery view, but this definitely looks a little ominous too and I absolutely loved the colour.

 

This is the second book of this series but other than a few nods to the first book, this can absolutely be read as a standalone too.

We follow a whole new set of characters and it was great to start over getting to know everyone.

 

There are quite a few characters to get to grips with, but I found this pretty easy from the off and as the story unfolds via various different pov's, we not only get to know each character, but we also get to see them from the other viewpoints too.

 

This perfect neighbourhood, suddenly seems as though there's a lot lying beneath it's perfect facade.

 

I really liked all of our main characters. Mostly all relatable although there were definitely some events and decisions that left me wondering.

 

I absolutely love this scenario where as the story develops, we see the characters slowly unravel and become more and more unhinged, often digging themselves deeper as they go.

This provides us with many avenues of suspicion and I have to say that I wasn't really sure I could trust anyone at all.

 

The writing built up the tension well culminating in an ending that I really didn't see coming.

 

Another enjoyable read and certainly an author to follow.

I can't wait to see what secrets are being held within the next book.

Strong Yet Short Neighborhood Mystery. Fans of the whole "entire neighborhood has secrets that impact each other" subgenre, I have a book for you. Even if you don't think you're into that thing... this is still a strong mystery that you're going to want to try out.

Danvers manages to pack quite a tale into less than 250 pages, making this a great short read for those looking to not turn as pink as the cover of this book while reading it poolside or beach side during the summer. Told from multiple perspectives, Danvers does a solid job of making each feel distinct enough from the others that it is fairly easy to track who's head we're in at any given point, at least for those readers who don't find doing this at all taxing to near impossible. Danvers even manages to illuminate some far too common "real world" issues these days in ways that never feel preachy yet also show the "real world" complications of these actions.

Truly a great, short, mystery read that will thrill fans of the genre and raise the heartrate of nearly anyone, particularly given its different sequences here.

Along with the characters Danvers introduces us to, there are the memories of others no longer living in the neighbourhood, and are the cause of speculation and suspicion. I resonated with Gabrielle, especially her internal monologue as she deals with the hellish mood swings and hot flushes of menopause. I found Dublin to be quite childish and manipulative, but now realise I was the one being manipulated by the author!

A lot of the drama comes from dialogue, so little clues are dropped here and there, like fat drops of rain that you’re not sure if you felt. I had to go back when I finished to see if I could have guessed the ending and, dang it, there were indeed a few giveaways but they were hiding in plain sight.

As the whispers and gossip whirl ever faster, secrets believed to be watertight start to spring leaks and before long, there’s no holding them back, leading to explosive outcomes.

I’m really struggling not to spoil the story so I’ll end by saying that if you liked Lie In The Tide, you’ll love this. And if you haven’t encountered Holly Danvers before, take this as your sign to make her acquaintance.

I was excited to start this book and once I did I couldn’t put it down! I think this would make a great beach / summer read - from the mystery to the characters to the Wisconsin setting, it was easy to get lost in the story and read just one more chapter.

The prologue starts with Jenna…let’s just say she is in a bit of situation. Her hands are covered in blood - How did she get there? Who is hurt and why? Well get ready for secrets and lies and small town drama!

The author does a great job building this sense of tension and mystery. Jenna, Gabrielle, and Dublin are each hiding something. On the surface the neighbors seem to have it all together…but what are they really hiding?

I don’t want to give anything else away about the plot - I definitely recommend going in blind!

Holly Danvers LIE IN THE BAY is the deliciously high stakes second novel in her fantastic Little White Lies Thriller series. I devoured the book much quicker than I'd planned -- it is impossible to put down! LIE IN THE BAY begins with main character Jenna in the most terrifying moments of her life, and the tension only rachets up from there. A meticulously crafted thriller with riveting twists and turns, LIE IN THE BAY is a smart, sexy, suspenseful dive into the toxic undercurrent of secrets and lies within a close-knit lakeside friend group. I felt as if I knew the multi-dimensional characters well. Danvers has a knack for creating authentic relationships and natural dialogue among characters. The ending took me by surprise, a satisfying conclusion with an intriguing hint of what might lie ahead in the next book. Fans of Liane Moriarty and Lisa Jewell will love this series!

This is book 2 of 2 from the Little White Lies duology by Holly however it could easily be read as a standalone. This is a suspenseful read set in a small town idyllic setting where residents are keeping up appearances but hiding secrets they don’t want exposed!

My intrigue was instantly peaked when the opening pages begin with one of the characters at the Police Station being interviewed because they are covered in blood. At first I did find it tricky to grasp who was who because of the multi narrative perspectives but this was part of setting the scene for all the characters.

All of the characters were highly suspicious of each other and all of them were on edge and seemed dishonest. This cleverly set the scene for the distrust and certainty within the usually tight knit community of Bayshore Lane. I didn’t warm to any of the characters but which added to the tension because I was suspicious of everyone! They all seemed to be hiding something and they all seemed like they’d throw each other under the bus at the first opportunity!

Although I enjoyed the first book more, I did read this one really quickly and think it’s a great read for crime/ suspense fans.

This is the second book in the Little White Lies series by this author. From the first few pages, it felt like a gripping read. I wanted to know more about Jenna and the other characters, what their lives were like, and how they came to be in the situation they were in.

The individual chapters were short, and I found I couldn't just read a chapter or two and put it down; I needed to know what happened next.

I have read the first book in the series, but if you haven't, I'd say this one works as a standalone. Like the first book in the series, it's a great choice for a summer read. If you love a twisty thriller with lots of suspense, this is a great read for the time of year.

After really enjoying the previous book in the series, I went into Lie in the Bay with high expectations.

The cover is absolutely stunning and instantly caught my attention. The story is also a quick, engaging read, and I enjoyed the multiple POVs, which allowed different layers of the story to unfold.

Bayshore Lane may look picture-perfect on the surface, but behind the immaculate gardens and neighbourly smiles lies a web of secrets, scandals and hidden motives. Watching those secrets gradually unravel kept me turning the pages, eager to discover how everything would connect.

While this wasn't quite as strong as the previous book for me personally, it was still an entertaining read with plenty of drama, mystery and intrigue for fans of domestic suspense.

This thriller is quite fast paced and starts with a bit of a teaser that alludes to one of the main characters either committing a murder or being set up for murder.

What follows is a switch between characters as we get to know them, their life in the bay and their secrets!

I think you follow the story in quite a guarded way but also on tenterhooks as you know something is coming. There's a bit of misdirection too and you learn not to trust anyone.

I liked the surprises that come towards the end as all is being revealed. I had guessed that all wasn't simple but had hoped some of the characters would be saved from either a nasty end or from being a villain. You can't help but feel for a couple of them!

Set among the residents of Bayshore Lane, this story peels back the polished exteriors to reveal secrets, hidden desires, and simmering tensions ready to explode. What starts as “little white lies” quickly spirals into something far more dangerous. The neighborhood drama is addictive, and the constant undercurrent of suspicion kept me turning pages.
This was such a fun, fast paced read packed with twists, secrets, and messy truths. I couldn’t put it down!

Wow wow wow!
Another 5 star read from Holly Danvers and her little white lies series!

I was super excited to read this book, after reading the first in the series Lie in the Tide I had high expectations and it certainly didn’t disappoint!!

This book had me turning all those digital pages, I just couldn’t put it down. Captivating, well written and easy to read, I found myself wanting to buy a house in the cul de sac.

In a small upscale neighbourhood of Bayshore lane, the small lies lead to big problems.

Oooh, this is Desperate Housewives 2026! I loved it! The cul de sac of DH is replaced by a community living their dream by a lakeside. Wealthy, close knit, bbqs together, good friends…or frenemies? Everyone has some sort of secret, a porn movie studio in the attic; a lost job, which perhaps never existed, the mysterious drowning of one couple a year earlier…and more. Suspicions and accusations abound as the community turns out to be less cohesive than they all pretend. I don’t want to spoil this by giving anything away, but I did guess about Tori early on , however the best secret turns out to be Dublin’s and that is a real surprise right at the end. Great read!

Lie in the Bay by Holly Danvers is an extremely twisty mystery.

Will Jenna and the other neighbors on Bayshore Lane make it through the summer?

Jenna
Our main character is Jenna. At least, she is the one around whom the story centers. Jenna is a hard working, small business owner, mother, and wife. She is also doing a side job that she tries to keep secret. She wants her kids and husband to be happy, and for their lives to remain as wonderful as she believes them to be. Jenna is like a beautiful swan with an inner ostrich, her head stuck in the sand. Seriously, she trusts her family and friends immensely.

I like Jenna. She is sweet and tries so hard to keep up appearances. She loves her husband and does whatever he asks. But I feel like she was losing herself a bit. Jenna allowed his control to go a bit too far.

The Mystery
Bayshore Lane and its inhabitants aren't as perfect on the inside as they seem on the outside. They are a close knit group who socialize a great deal. They are all good friends. Although they aren't always nice to each other. There are so many secrets they keep from and for each other. It is so crazy. But it made for an exciting tale with lots of twists.

I love the way Ms. Danvers includes the author character, Mori Hart, from Lie in the Tide in this book. It was a wonderful way to tie the two books together.

My rating for Lie in the Bay by Holly Danvers is four stars. I really enjoyed the story. The overall outcome was a bit scary, but I loved the twists and turns brought on by all the lies and secrets.

4* An eye catching cover for a real page turner.

The book started slowly while introducing the characters, once I sorted out who was who, I couldn't stop reading.

Living beside Green Bay offers a privileged lifestyle to the residents of Bayshore Lane, over time they've grown into a close knit community socialising together both on and off the water. Misunderstandings create resentment, which in turn threaten the picture perfect lives within the community. Should the rumours become public, the result would cause scandal or worse. How far will anyone go to prevent the destruction of their idealistic lifestyle.

A twisty plot finishing with a dramatic turn of events.

The 2nd book in this series, I have read the 1st one

A cozy read, like the 1st book. Raising the question- how well do we know our neighbours?!

In Bayshore Lane, nothing is as it seems. Picture perfect houses, kept gardens....reminded me of Desperate Housewifes. Everyone harbours a secret and they hope noone finds out what it is

Full of gossip, deception, lies and secrets. If you want a suburban mystery, this is the book for you.

I enjoyed seeing all the characters unravel as we see them for all their flaws and truths.

Thanks to Netgalley for the advanced copy. Holly brings us a neighborhood filled with intriguing and the little white lies that can tear down people. We have a cul-de-sac that thrives on the gossip, but gossip can also be dangerous and hard to predict where it will lead. The writing is fast-paced and the characters are well drawn. We quickly learn that what we see on the surface is far from what lurks underneath.
