Aster survived eight weeks at a wilderness therapy program designed to “fix” girls who question, resist, and refuse to comply. Now she’s living with the Hayes family, trying to rebuild a life her mother destroyed.
She wasn’t supposed to fall for Enzo Hayes.
He’s patient where she’s guarded. Gentle where she’s been taught that men only take. And when he touches her, she remembers what it feels like to want something.
But the program taught her that trust is a weapon. That good things don’t last. That letting someone in means giving them the power to destroy you.
Enzo sees past the compliance they beat into her. He sees the girl who’s still fighting underneath. He wants to show her that surrender doesn’t have to mean submission. That her body belongs to her—and choosing to give it freely is the most powerful thing she can do.
But when Enzo is forced to make a choice about their relationship, it breaks them both. Aster has to decide: can she forgive betrayal that came from love? Can she trust again when trust nearly killed her? Or will she finally do what the program never could—choose herself, even if it means walking away?
Destiny Rae believes everyone deserves a love story—especially the people society has decided are too broken, too complicated, or too much.
She writes forbidden romance that doesn't shy away from the hard stuff: trauma, shame, survival, and the messy process of learning to trust again. With a background in sociology and criminal justice, she's interested in why people do what they do—and how love can be both the wound and the healing.
She lives in Arizona with her husband and a small zoo's worth of pets. When she's not writing about morally gray situations and the people who navigate them, she's reading romance or obsessing over true crime documentaries.
I was given an ARC, and I am so thankful for the opportunity and appreciate the author for choosing me to receive one!
I unfortunately do not think this book was for me. I absolutely love the idea of the story, I just did not care for Enzo’s character and how he kept wanting to keep them messing around a secret from everyone, while also having a girlfriend. Which I was also confused because he had originally told Aster that it wasn’t like that and it was just a business arrangement and that they were exclusive. But then Aster refers to Maddison as his girlfriend and he doesn’t deny or correct her. I felt like Aster had too much going on mentally and Enzo was just confusing her and making it harder for her to come back mentally from the Wilderness retreat. I also found a lot of the description repetitive, such as talking about Enzo’s knuckles constantly turning white, what time Aster was waking up, the smell of his cologne.
I definitely think that the Hayes family should have recommended Aster to get some type of therapy after coming back. I loved that there was no hesitation to bring her in after coming home and her mother kicking her out but they could clearly see that she wasn’t there mentally and they didn’t really do anything to help her.
Each chapter title was I believe was a quote from the bible, I would have liked underneath the title the quote was added so you know what it was. Instead you have to look it up and I only did that once.
Over all, I give this book two stars.

6 star read!! 3rd book into 2026 and this one is probably one of the best books I'll read this year! I love how thought provoking and deep this book is! Aster's childhood was so sad but i was hlad that she had such supportive and amazing friend like Sutton and Briar! The process of recovering from the truamatizing 'correction camp' her own mother sent her was painful to read.It really shows the dark side of some childrens' childhoods. All children deserve parents, not all parents deserve children. How her dad left and basically died even bother to reach her is so sad.How her mother treated her was absolute disgusting.I get how her mum turn entirely to the church, but treating your child like the devil's spawn just because she sent a thumbs up emoji responding to her friends text of 'let's get fucked up' is absurdity. I love the found family and thoughts of 'family' in this book. It touches the themes of family but not by blood. And it's giving 'Family Line ' by Consn gray. The lines 'How could you hurt a little kid?""All of my pain and all your excuses,I was a kid but i wasn't clueless,Someone who loved you wouldn't do this" kept playing in my head as i sobbed for Aster. Her backstory only made me realise how important family can shape a child. I was so hlad that Aster had Sutton's family. Her parents took Aster in when her own mother kicked her out. They fed her, cared for her,and helpped her slowly break out of her trance. Watching Aster's robotic schedules of getting up at exactly 5:57 am to have 3 minutes for bed prep, kneeling on the group to beg for forgiveness from Hod, reciting holy scriptures and only eating 3 peas of a meal and thanking God for basically giving her basic human necessities was heartbreaking. I was so glad that Sutton's family died just Aster and instead, only cared and worried about Aster's health. Both Mr and Mrs Hayes were incredibly understanding and treated Aster like their own daughter.Even when Aster though of herself only as a charity case, Mrs Hayes said 'Aster, we're not doing you a favour by having you here. This isn't a charity. We want you here. You're part of this family." It was truly heart warming to hear. Sutton and Enzo(mmc-Sutton's brother) had the best reactions to Aster's 'change' from the camp. They held themselves as much as they could, even though they wanted to scream and get their 'normal' Aster back. They only tightened their fists and left the dinner table early, not wanting to hurt Aster, but clearly upset. The family all had different ways of getting Aster back and i loved them so much! Aster and Enzo's relationship was so cute yet also heartbreaking.Enzo loved Aster yet Aster was truamatized and he knew it wasn't right to move quickly with her.Enzo was understanding and took careful steps.Slowly helping her open up and even stopped her from 'going further ' as he knew Aster wasn't ready for them to fo it yet.Their bond and chemistry was out of this world and i loved was sweet and patient Enzo was! The moments in the treehouse, car, parties, his room, they were all amazing! Aster's character development was also astonishing and touching.Aster was traumatized, yet she slowly opened up thanks to the Hayes family and especially Enzo. Her slowly because able to let go of the brainwash from the camp and go back to normal was heart wrenching. Though there were some complications like Madison (no spoilers) ,their bond was still strong. This specific incident shows the length people may go just for live and protecting the person you love. This book was exceptionally well written from start to finish and i practically dipped the whole book in yabs and highlights! The end perfectly wrapped up the book and safe to say it will lead you cravings for another book!! I thank Destiny for giving me this arc! Can't wait for more!
I was so so lucky to be sent an arc of this book by the author and am so grateful. This is not normally the type of book I go for but I absolutely adored it in the way that it broke me. This book had me devastated in the best possible way. I loved Aster’s character arc, her growth, and found myself rooting for her throughout the entire book as well as just wanting to give her a hug. 📚 I really related to Aster as someone who has trauma from facilities/programs that are ment to “better” you, so I truly appreciated how well that trauma was represented. I think it’s hard to write something like that and this book did a phenomenal job of it. I truly felt so seen as I read Aster’s story. I loved so much how supportive and sweet the Hayes family was to Aster, giving her a family when she needed it most. I admit, at times I was screaming at this book especially during a certain scene where my man Enzo really messed up, but at the same time at the end of the book when Aster solves her problem in the most iconic possible way I was literally screaming with pride for my girl. 🫶 This book is not an easy read, it is a book about finding family, die hard friends, trauma (and how you can’t just “get over it” which is a phrase I heard far to many times and I died inside every time Aster was expected to be the same and in a way “get over it”), it’s a book about how hard love truly can be (it’s not always a rom com movie with butterflies and rainbows, it’s messy and sometimes really ugly) but how that same love can lead to so much good, this is a story about healing, about a girl realizing that she deserves to be happy and loved, that she doesn’t need to be sorry for wanting to be treated well. 💕❤️🩹 (Don’t worry though for my bookish spice girlies, there are so many moments that will have you gagged and obsessed, as well as one of my favorite tropes ever: when he comforts her after a nightmare. This is such a good book if you want a book that will have you broken into tiny pieces on one page and giggling like a fool on the next.❤️🔥) I will 100% be recommending this book and can’t wait for the next two in the series. The author is a lovely person who I am so grateful to have gotten the opportunity to meet, even if just over messages, and will for sure be rereading once this book is out in physical editions. (And yes, I did read this book till 3 am on New Year’s Eve until I finished it because I got addicted and had to write my review immediately afterwards 😁📚🫶🎆)
i’m so glad i got the chance to read this book as an arc!
starting this review off just by saying the writing was beautiful and the story kept me engaged the entire time i loved getting to see enzo and aster’s relationship grow throughout the book as well as seeing aster heal from everything that’s happened in her past with enzo’s help and support
this book dealt with some heavy topics but i think they were very well written, the way eating disorders and ocd as well as their correlation to one another was portrayed felt very accurate and well done without it being romanticized. i also think this story helps to shed light on what really goes on in a lot of wilderness therapy programs and the results of that abuse and how it effects a person
now into some random details from the book lol
the compass omggg🧭 the fact he didn’t forget her birthday and he got her a gift and it was that meaningful and sweet ughh
the nightmare scene this scene was my personal favorite and i lowkey wish we’d gotten more like it lol
the treehouse all of the treehouse scenes were so good, the whole truth game and the fact he knew that was her safe space from the beginning, all the way until the last scene where he decorated it and confessed his feelings for her without expecting anything in return
teaching her how to drive specifically him actually teaching her to drive was adorable and the fact he trusted her with his car when hes so protective over it
this quote😭 “that’s not love that’s something else something that looks like love but breaks you all the same” this quote broke me when i read it for the first time but it’s also beautifully worded
the ending now i will say i am not a third act breakup person i lowkey hate them😭 but i will say im glad they resolved everything and ended up together and im glad it resulted with aster finding her strength again i think it was important for her to stand up for herself like that
the epilogue it was so so sweet i loved seeing them happy and thriving together and seeing the final acts of asters healing and her growth

Firstly I would like to thank Destiny for sending me an ARC, I am extremely grateful💕
Rating actually 4.5 ⭐️!
I believe her Acknowledgements were one of the best I have come across in a very long time. It was simple but very clear about making sure there were heavy topics so we should consider our mental health.
Moving onto the actual book, I really enjoyed the timeline, especially of the wilderness camp. I thought portraying in flashbacks or smaller scenes was a fantastic idea as opposed to all at once.
I haven’t experienced even half of these situations but they felt very realistic, the more I read the more I understood about each characters. I loved Astor’s relationship with the entire Hayes family. She needed the love and support they provided.
Sutton and Astor’s friendship was top tier. Her protectiveness and fierce loyalty, even over her own brother was great (and hilarious 😂)
I adored Enzo and how much he genuinely (positively) grew and changed the further I read. The YEARNING this man did for Astor was incredible. She needed the reassurance and he came through!
I am not a fan of the cheating trope or whatever best fits this situation but this was portrayed well, especially for their age. I think that is why I originally struggled because their dynamic started off rocky but the boundaries were very clear and I’m very happy Aster wasn’t rushed into a decision, waiting until she was 100% sure she was ready for a relationship again. Never once saying “I love you” until she felt it was completely true and could begin to trust Enzo again.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, would recommend to others, and look forward to reading any other books of Destiny’s!

ARC Review — this is my honest and unbiased opinion.
Kneel for Me is an emotionally heavy, beautifully written story about brokenness, survival, and the slow, hard journey back to yourself.
This book made me feel everything—anger, grief, compassion, longing, and hope. The portrayal of so-called “Christian reform” programs was especially infuriating and heartbreaking, showing how faith can be twisted into something unrecognizable and used as a weapon rather than a source of love or healing. Watching the main character endure that kind of betrayal and pain, especially from the person who should have protected her, was devastating.
What truly stood out was the recovery arc. This isn’t a quick or easy healing story. It’s messy, painful, and deeply human. The author doesn’t rush the process, and that made the growth feel real and earned. Seeing the main character rebuild herself after hitting rock bottom was powerful and emotional.
The relationship development is intense and slow-burn in the best way. It’s filled with tension, quiet moments, and a deep emotional connection that builds gradually over time. The longing and anticipation kept me completely invested, and when they grow closer, it feels meaningful rather than rushed. There are spicy scenes, but they’re woven into the story rather than overshadowing it.
Overall, this is a story about trauma, resilience, and redemption—about being shattered and still finding a way forward.
I received this book as an ARC, and all thoughts and opinions expressed here are completely my own. Highly recommend. 💔✨
This book was an incredible read, and I thoroughly enjoyed the writing style. I deeply appreciated the care and grace with which the story handled the main character’s religious trauma and other forms of harm. It is a powerful journey of healing after traumatic events and a beautiful story of found family.
I also really loved the pacing of the story. It mirrors the non-linear nature of healing in a way that feels honest and intentional, allowing moments of progress, regression, and reflection to coexist without feeling rushed or forced.
I found myself unable to put it down. As someone pursuing a BA in Psychology with a concentration in mental health, and as someone actively deconstructing my own childhood experiences within the Baptist church, this story resonated strongly with me. I was initially hesitant after reading the trigger warnings and worried it might be overwhelming, but the nuance and thoughtfulness of the narrative made it feel intentional, grounded, and respectful of the subject matter.
The “troubled teen” industry has been a long-standing special interest of mine. Someone I went to school with disappeared for years and later spoke publicly about her experiences at a wilderness camp, so this aspect of the story felt especially real and important. From what I know of that system, the book portrayed it with accuracy and care. The panic attacks were written so authentically that I could feel them as I read.
Overall, this is an amazing and impactful book that I will absolutely be recommending to others.

I had the opportunity to read this book as an ARC reader, and Kneel for Me completely took me by surprise in the best way. The story follows Aster after she’s sent away to a wilderness reform program by her mother, an experience that leaves her deeply traumatized and struggling to reconnect with herself once she returns home. Her emotional journey felt raw, messy, and very human.
What stood out most to me was how much care was given to Aster’s healing. This isn’t an insta-fix love story where romance magically erases trauma. Instead, we watch her rebuild piece by piece, navigating trust, autonomy, and the complicated aftermath of institutional and religious harm. The author doesn’t shy away from the darker realities of so-called reform systems, and that realism makes Aster’s growth feel earned rather than rushed. It’s heavy at times, but intentionally so.
The romance centers on Enzo (her best friend’s older brother) and the tension between them is immediate but slow-burn in development. Their dynamic blends forbidden feelings, emotional vulnerability, and a protective intensity that dark romance readers will appreciate. I truly loved Enzo as the MMC, and his role in her healing was quite beautiful.
Overall, Kneel for Me is more than just a spicy romance, it’s a story about survival, reclaiming your voice, and learning what healthy love looks like after you’ve only known control. If you like emotionally heavy romances with healing journeys, found family elements, and a broody best-friend’s-brother MMC, this one is definitely worth the read.
This is more than a spicy romance—it’s a healing story.
Aster has grown up in a world shaped by neglect, abuse, and extreme religious control. Just before turning 18, she’s sent to a religious “reformation” program, where the harm continues under the guise of helping her become “better.”
Afterward, her best friend Sutton and Sutton’s family help her begin again. Enter Enzo—Sutton’s older brother. Charismatic, intense, and someone Aster has always felt drawn to. Their connection becomes a key part of her healing… but it’s complicated.
There’s strong romantic tension right from the start, giving the story momentum, but what stood out most was the emotional depth. This book explores what it means to feel unseen, unsafe, and unsure of who you’re allowed to become.
At times, you’re left questioning Enzo’s intentions—whether he’s truly helping Aster heal or unintentionally causing more harm. Those questions, and the choices that follow, ultimately push Aster toward finding her own strength and sense of self.
✨ A raw, emotional journey about survival, healing, and learning to feel at home in your own skin.
I am so thankful I had the chance to ARC read Kneel for Me. I have previously read another book by this author (not published currently!) and absolutely adore that one! This was an incredible and emotionally heavy read that did such a great job at balancing romance, heartbreak, and DRAMAAA, beautifully. I loved that we got to see Aster grow, her personality and light made it even more devastating to witness the internal destruction she endured after being sent there by her mom. The TRAUMAAAAA💔 The things she experienced were so so heartbreaking and they were handled in a way that feels raw and deeply affecting, making her journey all so much more meaningful! I loved how the author developed and showed the story as well.
I believe that Enzo was such a great character and the perfect person for Aster. Yes he can be a little broody, but he has such a gentle and sensitive side that made him easy to love. His patience, and ability to recognize when Aster needed support, and knowing when to push her a little bit without it being too much, made their connection feel authentic and real. Watching him help Aster find herself again, while creating a sense of safety and found family, was one of the most beautiful parts of the story.
This book was beautiful, heart wrenching, and I couldn’t put it down. The themes that followed our FMC were unique in the fact that there aren’t many romance books that depict the reality of religious and treatment trauma. As a mental health clinician I have worked with people who have experienced these specific traumas and it’s not talked about enough. Our FMC is everything we want in a heroine, she is resilient, a fighter, and most importantly a survivor. Also, everyone should prepare because you will end this book with a new book boyfriend. You won’t be able to help falling in love with this MMC, the YEARNING is so real with this character. He’s a man with emotional intelligence and he LOVES HER. If one of your favorite tropes is ‘he falls first’ then that is even more reason for you to read this book. When it comes to spice the author does any amazing job enthralling you into the intimacy these two characters share without it distracting or taking too much from the plot. The book has dark themes throughout but ultimately everyone ends up happy. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
ARC review - thank you to Destiny for the early access!
So, this is the second book I've read from Destiny, but this one genuinely was full of tension, drama, and all the good things that make a romance like this feel alive. The main character, Aster, was such a nuanced character and so multidimensional, especially after returning from the wilderness program her mom sent her to, and before she subsequently moved in with her best friend Sutton's family.
Sutton's family was a literal rock for her, and I loved that they gave her the found family that Aster desperately needed without conditions. Even with the tension with Sutton's older brother, Enzo, you can still tell that the entire family wanted the best for her on every level. They watched out for her and saw her well-being through, and as a reader, that was definitely a relief to see in a book where the main character's experiences were genuinely hell.
I would have never expected to enjoy a story like this, but I did and am super glad I got to read it when I did.
Kneel of Me was a deeply emotional and powerful read. The story follows Aster, a young girl who is sent away to a religious camp for eight weeks to be “fixed” because she isn’t the perfect daughter everyone expects her to be. From the very beginning, I felt connected to her pain, confusion, and quiet strength.
What really stayed with me was Aster’s journey after she returns home. The book doesn’t pretend healing is quick or easy. Instead, it shows how messy and real it is to navigate trauma while trying to figure out who you are again. Watching Aster slowly break free from what was done to her was heartbreaking and hopeful at the same time. Enzo, her best friend’s brother was such an important part of that healing. He felt like a steady presence, someone who helped her feel safe enough to breathe again and reclaim herself.
This book is about survival, self-discovery, and finding the courage to break the chains placed on you by others. Kneel of Me left me thinking long after I finished, and it’s a story I won’t forget anytime soon.
This is a bestfriend’s brother romance and if you enjoy an emotional, angsty book then this one is for you… I really enjoyed all the characters, including the Hayes family…it was so wholesome at times and I always love a found family in a book. The FMC had amazing depth and such great character development throughout the story, I was routing for her throughout the book. She went through so much and it broke my heart when we saw her trauma and her relationship with her mum. As for the MMC, honestly I didn’t connect with him at the beginning mainly because I thought his initial confession of the way he felt towards Aster was a bit random??? I couldn’t for the life of me tell if he was being genuine or not😅I would have been happy to see them develop feelings through him helping her deal with her demons and being there for her through that but nonetheless he grew on me and I did really like him. You could tell he really cared for her and honestly I loved them 🥹 I thought the book was written well and the pacing was perfect!
4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4🌶🌶🌶🌶 Tropes: slowburn, virgin FMC, forced proximity, found family & BF bro Triggers: religious trauma, disordered eating, cheating, abuse, parental neglect, PTSD, wilderness therapy & explicit sexual situations.
This is an emotional heartbreaking story that will make you cry & it's also going to piss you off enough to make you want to throw it across the room. I got so attached to these characters. Aster(FMC)goes through so much pain and abuse. Enzo(MMC) shows her so much compassion and care. This story is about her trying to heal & Enzo trying to help her. "maybe, I could find my way back. Not to who I was, but to who i'm supposed to become." It is so beautifully written and I loved how the author used Bible verses as the chapter headings. I even got out my Bible so I could read what the verses were. There were 9 spice scenes. Which are female focused and have so much tension and build up even before they have intercourse. This was a superb read, and I highly recommend.
* I received this book as an ARC reader for an honest review*
I read it in one sitting. No matter how busy I was I couldn’t put it down. It’s 2:30 in the morning now as I’m writing this review and all I have to say is wow.
Aster our FMC gets sent away for 8 weeks to a camp due to her mom thinking she’s “going down the wrong path”. She endures trauma and gets broken down piece by piece. She comes back and everything around her is the same… but is she? (Read to find out)
Endo our MMC. (Aster’s best friend’s brother). Brooding man who has a soft spot for his sister’s best friend. He sees the real her. The one from before she was sent away. Can he help her heal?
I cried. I laughed. Honestly, took me right out of the slump that I was in. I cannot wait to read more by this author.
Thank you for the opportunity to read it ahead of time! ❤️
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Wow another page turner from Destiny!! Aster went to hell for 8weeks (literally ) when she is back she forgot to be human. Enzo, her best friend's brother and the oldest of the Hayes, the family that opened their house to her after her own mother decided that Aster reached the age to be on her and own and fend for herself (ps: I hate her mother)
Enzo is so patient, he guide her to find her human side again, to voice her aches and process the hell she survived, and it doesn't hurt he is hot and loaded :)
this book broke my heart, seeing how Aster couldn't function with mundane daily activities.
The way Enzo reached for her soul ( tell me one true thing ) , and their steamy encounters in the tree house was just hot hot hot, I mean the way he let her explore her sensuality. Also those driving lesson phew
Thank you Destiny for this ARC, looking forward to any books from you!

I’m so thankful that the author gave me the opportunity to read this book before the release date! I rated this book 4.5🌟 with a 🌶️🌶️🌶️ level
This book was an amazing read, I was SAT and devoured the storyline! The character building and growth we see the main character Aster go through was something in itself. There were so many points throughout the book where I was kicking my feet and giddy, but also so many points where I felt my heart aching for Aster.
There was so much care put into the writing of this book with all the religious trauma the main character endured. The healing journey that we get to experience is beautiful and remember trust is earned, not demanded✨
Pre-order now! Releases February 1st! Tropes & triggers include: 🧭 best friends brother 🧭 wilderness therapy camp 🧭 neglect & child abuse 🧭 religious trauma 🧭 personal growth & finding your worth 🧭 chosen family is thicker than blood 🧭 forced proximity 🧭 the power of best friends
So this one took me a moment to process. Overall this book struck me as more of a coming of age, learning to be yourself type of thing. There are notes of religious trauma and emotional abuse from the MFCs part but both MCs youth shows through. The MVP in my opinion was Mrs. Hayes. I did feel like I missed things when thinking about how the chapters were titled. I was force through childhood to read and study the bible but I’ve long since forgotten all tha and with titles labelled as bible scriptures made me think without looking those up I was missing things. For anyone who’s against cheating I do give a warning due to the nature of the MCs romance and as always don’t forget to check the trigger warnings. I think overall this book was not for me. I do love most thing but I did feel like some points were rushed and I have feeling about cheating no matter the situation. The MMC gave anything for peace vibes n I was looking for an anything for love vibe.
This book was absolutely amazing! This was an emotional roller coaster from the very start and i was hooked and just couldn’t seem to put it down. I swear I lost to much sleep reading this book, but it was worth it! Aster (the main FMC) was sent away to an 8-week camp to “fix” troubled girls and when she is out, she stays with the Hayes family but falls for Enzo Hayes! I loved the chemistry between these two characters. I felt he was understanding about what she went through at that camp! I love that you read how Aster was before she went to this camp and then to see how much she had to go through to get to where she is now. I cried a lot throughout this book!
This is a Brothers Best friend, Forced Prox, Secrets relationship, fast pace, He falls first
update: currently in a book slump after reading this book, this is your forwarning
I will start off by saying this is a very deep emotional read , at first I wasn’t sure due to the religious trauma but she captivated me by Astrid’s story , her healing journey , as well as Enzo’s part in Astrid’s healing told a beautiful captivating couldn’t put down til the very end . The way Enzo supported her healing and the found family aspect through her best friend and her family was just as beautiful. This story just put me in all my feels and I really connected with Astrid’s and Enzo story I loved the happy ending . I love when I can connect with the fmc . Destiny did did an amazing job in writting this sh reminded me of Jennifer Hartman writing style 🌶️🌶️.5 Best friends brother Healing Found family Religious trauma healing No cheating Happily ever after
I received a ARC for this book & im so beyond grateful for the opportunity. This was a cute book, I loved the story line & how the wilderness therapy camp story was portrayed. To show what actually happened out there in the middle of no where , to show the trauma these “therapy’s” actually cause. To show the actual abuse that comes from some religious family’s. I loved aster and enzo together towards the end. During the book I was skeptical about Enzo , the feeling of him leading Aster on knowing she was going through so much. Not to mention him being in a relationship with Madison. It was throwing me off but in the end you can tell with Enzo that the only person he seen and cared about was aster. 3.5 / 5 🌶️🌶️.5 for spice ! Cute read !
This was a great read. I loved that you got to see a little bit of Aster and her personality before she "changed". I feel like it made it more heartbreaking to see the level of destruction she internally had to go through to become who she was when she came back from the camp. Enzo was a fantastic main character and was perfect for Aster. He was a little broody but had a sensitive side, he was patient when Aster needed the time to heal, and extremely dependable by making sure to watch for cues from Aster for help and giving her that. It was another beautiful story by the author about healing and letting go to move forward! I can't wait for the next one in the series!!
Arc review: this book got me out of my reading slump! Could not put it down.
The tension between Aster and Enzo was right from the start.
Aster is dealing with trauma after going to a wilderness program her mom sent her to for 8 weeks.
Enzo is the best friend brother he’s sensitive to her healing but also not letting her forget what she was like before the programming. It’s was heartwarming to see the progress Aster was making throughout the story and I love how Enzo was proud not matter how little it was. Loved their story
-soft romance -best friend brother -found family -soft Dom -he falls first
This was a good spicy romance to start my 2026 reading on! I am so glad that i got the opportunity to be an arc reader for this release!
It is just a bit redundant at some parts, but I really enjoyed the storyline. I love a good best friends brother trope! This was a spin on the trope that I personally haven’t read before and thought it was a great take on it! I think the author did a good job at representing different kinds of trauma without having full explicit scenes that could be triggering for readers as well! I will absolutely be looking out for more of her books in this standalone series! Lots of build up😮💨, lot’s of spice🌶️, lots of healing❤️🩹
I'm not very familiar with dark romance, but this has set a great standard for me! Kneel for Me follows Aster, our FMC, after she returns from wilderness camp with deeply rooted emotional trauma. Her absent mother shuns her, and she ends up moving in with her best friend's family and developing a bond with her best friend's brother (hello forbidden romance). The spicier scenes were used tactfully to advance the development of Aster and her beliefs. This is a story of healing and learning what it means to accept love. The sensitive topics were handled with such care, though I do advise checking TW!
Kneel for Me delivers a dark, atmospheric romance with strong tension and an intriguing power dynamic. Destiny Rael does a great job creating a moody setting and characters that immediately pull you in, especially if you enjoy morally gray leads and intense chemistry.
While the premise was compelling and the spice delivered, some moments felt rushed and I wanted a bit more emotional depth and character development to fully connect with the story. Still, the writing was engaging, and the darker elements kept me turning pages.
Overall, a solid read for fans of dark romance who enjoy high tension, dominance, and forbidden vibes.
This book was so good! The Journey of Aster on the road of healing and self discovery is inspiring! And Enzo , best friend’s older brother! Such a favorite mini trope of mine! Enzo the MMC and best friend's older brother keeps reminding her who she is at every turn. He sees her and loves her when she has given up hope.I couldn't put this down. The spice is spicing ….it's just right. You will get sucked in with their story!! He does not give up on Aster pushing her back to who he knows she is. He gives kneeling a whole new meaning for Aster! I cannot wait for the next book in The Sinner Salvation series Fight for Me by Destiny Rae comes out March 1st 2026!!!
