A pleasant historical romance set in the 18th century. You would think with a highwayman, a missing heiress and her impostor, and a trip to the New World, it would have been an exciting swashbuckler but the story overall was rather tepid. I really loved the characterizations of the main characters, a destitute Irish nobleman turned high class highwayman and the strong of character, admirable heroine who wants to live her life on her own terms. The author also paid a great attention to the setting, including some intriguing details on infamous Newgate prison, which is always a plus for me. It's too bad that the author didn't know what to do with these great characters once she gave life to them on the page, at least not in my opinion.
