I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Alright now, this here book come in loud and strange right from page one and it aint shy about it neither. Instead of some soft fluffy afterlife mess, you get angels acting like office workers and demons running around doing cleanup duty while everybody arguing over rules and power. Felt less like heaven and more like a courthouse that never closes, and honestly that was one of the best parts of the whole thing.
The main fella wakes up dead with no memory and got no clue who he is or what he done. Normally that kinda thing makes me roll my eyes, but it works here cause everything around him is just as confusing. They send him on what supposed to be an easy mission, and of course it turns into a full blown mess with danger coming from every direction. Once the hunt for that Book of Remedies kicks off, the story starts moving fast and barely slows down.
The adventure side of this book is strong. You got fights, betrayals, traveling all over, and plenty of supernatural trouble chasing everybody around. It reads like a big action movie playing in your head. Sometimes though the story piles on so much lore and explanation that it slows things down when all I wanted was to get back to the action.
Nora shows up and adds some heart to the story, but that romance jumps ahead quicker than it probably should. One minute they barely know each other and next thing feelings are running deep. It works enough to keep things interesting, just could have used a little more buildup.
What I liked most is how bold the whole thing feels. The writer took big swings and did not play safe. The world is weird, creative, and different from most stuff in this genre. What holds it back a little is trying to do too much at once, which makes parts feel crowded.
End of the day, this was a fun and wild ride with plenty of action and imagination. Not perfect, but it kept me turning pages and wanting to see what kind of chaos was coming next.
I give it a 4 outta 5 Catfish.

A soul involved in a pilot program from heaven. He is assigned tasks to help humans. He thwarts those demons or humans using their powers and abilities to access innocents. If he screws up he will be sent to oblivion. A great story concept and I would like to read more like this.
