Review:
This was an incredibly fast read and very fast-paced from start to finish. It’s the kind of book that’s perfect for getting out of a reading slump because it pulls you in right away and keeps you engaged the entire time. There was always something happening, yet it never felt rushed or overwhelming.

One of my favorite things about this book was the main character. They actually make smart, logical choices, which made the reading experience so much more enjoyable. I never felt frustrated or stressed by unnecessary decisions, and I could genuinely root for them without constantly dealing with second-hand embarrassment.

The tension and emotional moments were done extremely well. One scene that really stood out to me was:

“Nathan kept his eyes focused on Bea. When he took the picture from her, his body visibly tensed up. He kept his head down as he looked at the picture and gulped before asking, ‘Where did you get this?’”

There were also beautiful, softer moments that balanced the tension perfectly, like:

“As they stood in the doorway, Bea could hear Christmas music playing from Nathan’s car. It sounded muffled and dreamy. Nathan gazed at her with a smile, just like he always did. If he wanted to kiss me right now, I’d let him.”

The emotional depth really hit in lines such as:

“You didn’t give up on me, on us. At least not entirely. Both of us held out on some hope, you probably more so than me.”

And especially:

“When I first fell in love with you back in high school, I was absolutely beside myself… when you kissed me on your porch it felt like I’d been given a second chance at creating memories with you.”

The pacing was well balanced and consistent throughout, and the story didn’t leave me feeling unsatisfied or hanging by the end. While I could see the potential for a sequel, this book works perfectly as a standalone and feels complete on its own.

Overall, this was a great, emotional, and easy read that I’d definitely recommend. Especially if you’re looking for something fast-paced, engaging, and heartfelt.
