In this Brotherhood you live or die by the three-piece patch. For Hold Dawson, Vice-President of the Hells Highwaymen Motorcycle Club, it’s not just black ink tattooed on his body, but the religion he worships, and the law that governs his life. Nothing else matters. Family by choice and not by blood. More sacred than a shared name. Bound by respect. Loyal to death.

Unity. Respect.
Love. Devotion.
Forever.

But there’s another side to this life. One the President, Hold’s own father, lives and regulates by.

Merciless. Wrathful.
Murderous. Dishonest.
Lethal.

It’s blood in and blood out and only one man gets to be king.

Holden was born into the club, paid his pound of flesh through blood sweat and tears right along side his brothers, so nothing means more to him than family. Those six letters have been fractured, their meaning lost through acts of betrayal, a permanent rift where brother is pitted against brother. A war is coming to the MC.
 photo Holden.jpg
Shayla having seen her parents killed in front of her isn't a stranger to club life or violence. She's a woman on a mission wanting her Aunt D the only remaining family.
 photo Shayla-1.jpg
But the MC queen and Mickey have other plans as they absorb Shayla into the club, bringing her one step closer to Holden. With bloodshed on the horizon for presidency who can she trust her heart with?
(Time to play the game! Ha ha It's all about the game and how you play it. All about control and if you can take it. All about your debt and if you can pay it. It's all about pain and who's gonna make it.) By: MOTORHEAD

More Reviews Here: Readers Live A Thousand Lives

Beautiful Ink was one of my favorite reads last year, so of course I was really looking forward to Hell’s Ink. I really enjoyed getting back to this world and I really liked the different perspective we got this time around. In Beautiful Ink we saw this world through Hels eyes and Hels was not happy there. But now we get to see if from Hold’s perspective and it is a completely different experience.

I’m not going to lie, I was nervous about getting Hold’s book. I wasn’t his biggest fan in Beautiful Ink. I liked him, but a lot of what he did just didn’t sit well with me. In Hell’s Ink though, we get to see what is going on inside his head and he really won me over. Hold has really grown up and he has decided what he wants and nothing is going to stop him from getting it. I loved that determination and I loved watching him grow up.

Then we have Shayla and I liked this girl a lot. She hasn’t had it easy, but she doesn’t let that stop her. I loved her quiet strength and I loved that she accepted Hold for who he is, no reservations. The only character I really struggled with was Mikey and I felt so bad about it. I mean, he is a good guy and he deserves to find happiness, but he got on my nerves at times. I like him but he drove me bonkers a bit. I also really loved getting a little bit more Luke and Hels again. Love those two.

My favorite thing about Hell’s Ink though was all of the MC drama and politics. There was so much going on and it was so hard to know who to trust. I loved watching the drama unfold. For me, this was the main focus of the story, and it surprised me that this was my favorite aspect. We all know I love my romance, but with this I found myself more invested in the other stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the romance, but I loved the politics and drama even more. I found myself racing through the romance to get to the MC stuff. It surprised me and I loved that.

Nicole once again delivered a really enjoyable story. Hell’s Ink was gritty and dark, but there was some light in the dark and I really liked that. This is a series you don’t want to miss.

I liked that Holden found happiness, but I never fully felt invested in his relationship with Shyla. I liked Shyla, but the insta love factor made their "love" a lot less believable. Especially after reading an entire book about his devotion and love for Hels. That kind of ruined things for me. I always wanted Hels to be able to love Hold back in the way he loved her, but it just wasn't meant to be. Ward and the pressure and coercion of the MC lifestyle prohibited that love and repulsed Hels. I wonder if Hold and Hels would have had a chance if things wouldn't have happened the way they had after her assault. She was so young, and I have this feeling that her feelings toward Hold would have been more than brotherly if she hadn't been forced into getting the tattoo and witnessing what she did that night.

Nonetheless, I liked the drama in this book, so that's why it gets 4 stars. I can live with the relationship between Hold and Shyla, I mean, according to the book they loved each other. However it didn't feel epic. It felt more like a, "let's give Hold someone opposite of Hels so that he can have a happy ending."

Although opposite in mentality, Shyla came from an MC family and also was an artist who then learned to tattoo, and that made me even more skeptical about the believability of this romance. She seemed more like a replacement than a true love.

Oh, and the parallels to Sons of Anarchy were very apparent. If Sage isn't Gemma and Ward isn't Clay than I must be overly imaginative.

Overall, a decent MC biker book with some drama, angst and mysterious secrets revealed. I had figured out some of the revelations in advance, but the complexity of some of them were still surprising. I was engaged, and I would read another book in the series. My bets are on Mikey getting a story next, and he deserves one.

Let me start by saying I've been dying to read this book every since I finished Beautiful Ink. After Beautiful Ink I was emotionally spent and in serious book hangover.
I loved Hold, but I hated him at the same time. In Hell's Ink I fall completely in love with him. He totally redeems himself. I wasn't running for my Zoloft bottle this time (after Nicole Reed had my emotions all over the place after BI) but I was emotionally invested this time. I wanted so much for Hold. I felt so much compassion and hurt for this character. I wanted him to find the justice he was seeking, find some sort of peace with Hels. I still hate his parents.(LOL) You find out more about how the club operates and how things are dealt with.

I cannot wait for the next installment in this series. (So get Busy Girl)

Also let it be noted that after the first book I couldn't listen to Metallica's song 'Enter Sandman' without being pissed. This book helped turn that around. LOL

Review by Lisa Kane

Hold is a familiar character in this second installment of Nicole Reed's Forever Inked series. He was the man who considered Kels to be his old lady and he did some horrible things to her before he lost her to ATF agent Luke Carrity.

He didn't do these things because he's a monster, he did them because he believed they needed to be done for the sake of the Hell's Highwaymen MC. But still he lost the girl and he's been bitter ever since Hels left with Luke for parts unknown.

Hold has his hands full. He's the club's vice president and is at war with his father Ward, the club's Prez. Ward carries a vendetta for Hels and made sure Hold suffered for it. The club itself is divided between Ward's camp and Hold's. Hold himself is soulless at this point. He has a club whore, Carrie that has been his main f#*k partner for the last few years. She wants to be is official old lady, but he has no interest in that. His relationship with his best friend, Mikey is fragile, Ward made sure to tell him that Mikey doubted his ability to lead the club after the mess with Hels. And it seems Ward is trying to get him killed off, but he can't really prove it, and isn't ready to make his move to take over the MC yet.

Shayla is on her way to Harmony to surprise her Aunt D. Her meth head boyfriend blew through his last chance with her and she has nothing to stay for anymore. But on her way there she gets a flat. Mikey, who works with Hold in the MC's auto repair shop, comes across her and offers help. He's been increasingly restless and wants to put down roots with a woman. Club pu#sy isn't cutting it these days. Enter Shayla-she's gorgeous, young and smart. He makes no bones that he's interested in her. It turns out that her Aunt D is Badger's old lady; he owns the shop that the guys work at. Eventually Shayla meets Hold and there is an attraction between them. But the fact that Carrie, Hold's regular booty call is between his legs at the time, makes Shayla think attraction is nice, but she isn't interested in going down a one way street.

Mikey goes away on club business for awhile and Hold spends a little bit of time with her. It's obvious that there is a force between them that for some reason seems to soothe each other's souls. Hold opens up to her in a way he never has with anyone before, but the ghost of Hels and the hole she blew up in his heart is not going to let him pursue Shayla. Not to mention Mikey's interest in her will hurt their friendship more than it is now.

But things quickly implode in the MC and Hold's world is shaken to its core. He questions everything and everyone in his life. His relationship with his mother and father are at the center of this shit storm and the ugly truth about things from the past are exposed. Once these things are revealed, life can't go back to the way it was-for any of them.

There is a ton of subterfuge in this story. It is hard to tell who can be trusted and who can't. This one is full of betrayal and hatred and violence. But the story is well told and this series continues to captivate my interest. The only drawback for me was Shayla and Hold's almost insta love connection. Even knowing that Hold was openly a manwhore, there's lots of unprotected sex between these two. Over and over again. I have to admit that bothered me, especially as Hold had been having unprotected sex with Carrie too. (before he and Shayla were involved) That and something concerning Carrie comes in to play and Shayla seemed to be alright with it. It became a non issue (not going to spoil anything here) but that situation could potentially have killed things between Shayla and Hold but she seemed to be a little too accepting of some of Hold's baggage.

In spite of those things, I'm hoping for more stories about these characters. My guess is maybe Mikey will get his own story and hopefully his own HEA at some point.

Book 1 left me dying to know what would happen next for Hel's sensitive lapdog and a poor excuse for an MC Prez in-training, Holden.

Is Shyla the counterfeit Hels 2.0? That question bugged me for the first eighty percent of the book. The blond hair, the light eyes, the denim mini skirt...why was the author's twisted intention to pair Holden with a twin image of Helen? A replica of the woman who burned him the hottest? And with Shyla even pursuing the same trade under the direction of someone Hels came to trust as a friend? Never saw that coming! How twisted, unbearable, and schitzy! At the same time, kind of disappointed about that...also didn't feel the connection between Holden and Shyla until 3/4 into the book. She accepted everything so readily and romanticized the idea of being an Old Lady. It was difficult NOT to compare her to Helen because Hels had more bite and drive. Pure drama surrounded her relentlessly in Book 1! Shyla's character just seemed overly desperate to be a part of the MC and Holden gave in to her likability due to his extreme case of insta-lust that quickly materialized into something more.

Characterization in Book 1 was priceless. Book 2's heroine fell a bit short for me, probably because Hold placed Helen on a pedestal that no other woman could measure up to for so long, and their history together was so rocky. All of that emotion settled like a rock in my stomach and it took me until the very end of this book to accept Shyla as Holden's choice. In the end, Holden's idolization of Helen diminished and she helped him to forgive himself and to move on.

Luke Carrity made a brief appearance in the last quarter of this book and Sage's story about the fire that killed Hel's parents came to revelation. Loved watching all of the secrets and lies that unraveled in between the gun fights, the beatings, and the bodies! Sandman's death was such a tragedy...NOT! Sweet!

We had a hint of what the epilogue would bring before those final details were revealed at the end. I breathed a big sigh of relief for Holden with the phone call he received at the very end of this book. Author Nicole Reed had me walking on egg shells until that very moment and I got exactly what I wanted--that phone call was EVERYTHANG!

I enjoyed this book. This MC series is rough and intense, that's what I love about it. Hell's Ink is Hold's book. We met him in Beautiful Ink and I wanted to know more about him and we got it in this book.
Shyla moves to town with her aunt who is apart of the club and causes a rift between Hold and one of his brothers. But Shyla is nothing like Hels she holds it down for her man and is willing to live the life and be there for Hold, but Hold doesn't want to open himself to be hurt again.
While Hold is trying to figure himself out and his role in the club a whole shit storm of stuff goes down.
If you like MC books then I recommend this series. I really hope the next book is Mikey's I loved him and he deserves a ride or die chick too ;) lol

When Beautiful Ink ends, you sit there craving more, and Hell’s Ink is the perfect follow up to Beautiful Ink. I fell in love with Holder in Beautiful Ink. There was always something about him that had me cheering him on and praying that even though he has no choice in this life, he still has a good heart in there somewhere.

“Short Skirts were his kryptonite and he was pretty sure Superman never hit on Batman’s girl"

Hold is a mess. Hel’s still has a hold on his heart, the MC is going to shit, and he’s swore off finding an “old lady.” He believes that no one needs to be involved with him unless it’s a roll around in the sack, but even in those moments, his mind still drifts to Hels. That is until Mikey’s new to town interest catches his eye, and as much as he tries to stay away from Shyla, it’s damn near impossible. That’s where conflicts arise between between Mikey, the MC, and a world wind hurricane with his father.

“Hold might be a hard man, but he wasn’t a hard man to love."

Shyla has no one left except for her Aunt Diamond, and she’s unsure if she glad to see her or not. As a child, Shyla remembers the family she had both by blood and not with her father’s MC. It’s a life that makes her feel like home. When Hold comes into her life she sees him for his true self, and this is not a beautiful image. Regardless, she loves him, but when the MC life plays a toll on her, she has to decide to let the person she is go or fight to keep her alive. Her love for Hold is also her breaking point.

Hell’s Ink is Holden’s story. We are able see how his mind works and how he tries to make things right. This story didn’t leave me speechless like Beautiful Ink, but that is due to the nature of that story. Hell’s Ink takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. This story had me wanting Ward dead. I mean kill the mofo and have no remorse for it at all! (Gosh, that sounds ruthless!) More importantly it gives insight to what happened when Hel’s and Hold were kids, what happened after Hels left, and kept me praying that Hold finds a happily ever after. Hold is given a new chance at love, but his fears and lifestyle hold him at bay. Is Hold ready to let go of Hels completely? Will he find a new happiness with one that bends with the rules? or Will he lost everything family, the MC, and his past, present, and future?

4 Emotional Stars

I read this book today because after reading Beautiful Ink, in which I LOVED, I was dying to see how Hold's story played out. I truly did like his story but for me it just didn't compare to the first book. I truly loved the Epilogue and was so happy that he found true love and happiness! I guess I wanted to see more of Hold and Shyla's relationship...... I absolutely loved that we got a bit more with Luke and Hels and it totally closed out that part of their story nicely as sad as it was, lol, I was so choked up during their conversation, hehehehe. For me, just something was missing between Hold and Shyla and I felt the end was too rushed...I truly wanted more of their relationship than I got.. Sorry, just my feelings but with that being said, a very good follow-up. My heart truly broke for Mikey and maybe that's why I couldn't feel 100% totally happy at the end of the book, lol....

I hope we get a story on Mikey and gosh does he truly need his own HEA:) I know personally that I need his HEA....lol

This series unloaded a confusing mix of feelings on me. There were so many f'd up things that went down. Every deadly sin thrown around like confetti. The secrets divulged sickened me. But justice and redemption were served.

I felt so bad for Holden throughout the first book. I kind of resented Hels for not being strong enough for him! I was so excited my boy got his own book! He totally redeemed himself. Righted some wrongs. Proved himself the dark hero.

Shyla was the perfect heroine. Strong. Loyal. Brave. Dependable. Loving. Accepting. Everything Hold didn't know he needed. Gave him more than he ever expected.

Behind every strong man there is a stronger woman!

One of my favorite couples.

Took me a while to finish it, and not bc I didn't want to read but bc I couldn't read as much as I wanted. Holden, I loved him in Beautiful Ink and loved him more in Hell's Ink. I took my time and thoroughly enjoyed the story without rushing to get to the end.

Hoping Mikey gets his book.

It is no secret that I have loved everything that Nicole Reed has ever written but I have to say without a doubt this book by Nicole blew me away.

Hell’s Ink takes up seamlessly from Beautiful Ink. There was no re-reading involved. From chapter 1 the book flowed effortlessly and I was hooked from the first moment I started reading until the very last page.

I loved Beautiful Ink, it was the first MC book I had ever written and was desperate to read this next instalment of this series and I was not disappointed.

Hold Dawson, the Vice Prez of Hells Highwayman had issues to deal with from the woman who left him broken and beaten to life of the Vice Prez of the club. Life was not going to be easy for Hold. He had friendships to re-build and wounds to heal.

The Brotherhood that was the Hells Highwayman had problems and it was up to Hold and a few other followers to deal with these problems for the sake of the club. These problems and issues would ultimately bring drama & betrayal but would it bring closure, acceptance and understanding these are things that Hold needed to survive.

I loved the dynamics of Hold, I admit in Beautiful Ink I was not his fan but in this his story, I saw the pain, anguish and hurt he dealt with on a daily basis. I also saw the capacity he had to love, to do the right thing by people and I fell hook line and sinker in love with this man.

The way Nicole has written this book is breathtaking; she not only tells the story of Hold & Mikey his best friend but of every character with a few new ones along the way.

The story has been written is so well you can actually feel the pain, the drama but also the love and compassion there is and although sometimes gritty and a complete OMG moment, you can’t put this book down.

Hold goes through so many emotions in this book but what he is not prepared for is to fall in love again. He has been down that road and didn’t want to go through it to get hurt again but Shyla is a different kettle of fish. She is determined, strong, loving and see’s Hold for who he is and loves him unconditionally, sure there are obstacles but that makes the story more real to me. Hold finds he can talk to Shyla which is a huge step for him.
“I’ve never told another livin soul any of this. Hels was my friend and I failed her in every way a person can fail someone. That’s why I tried to keep you away, not wantin to draw you into this life, at least until everythin had settled” Boy I just swooned all over Hold, he just opened up so much to Shyla which just showed me his compassionate and caring side.

Shyla herself has been through a considerable amount of pain and drama in her young life so in some ways I felt she could relate to Hold, she gained her strength from her past and that will hold her sold through life “Her ex had hurt her over and over because she’d allowed him that power. Shyla wouldn’t put herself in that type of situation, to give herself away unless the other person wanted her more” This statement in itself showed me how strong this girl was and I found myself mentally high five-ing her and saying out loud “Way to go girl”

I can’t stress enough how good this book is.

This series is one you can go back to read over and over again and never get tired of it.

Way to go Nicole, another amazing read

Read this book. It’s an bold MC story filled with violence, sex and crazy, ass characters. It’s such an incredible journey, you don’t want to miss it.

My heart ached for Hold all throughout Beautiful Ink. Even though he was a serious bastard and some times I thought his behavior unforgivable – I liked him. I got that Hold did what he had to do for him and Helen to survive the MC world that they had been born into. His loyalty to her, captured my affection and I wanted him to find happiness.

In Hell’s Ink, Hold’s story continues right where Beautiful Ink left off. His devotion and love for Helen cost him. The relationship with his father, Ward and with some members of Hells Highwaymen Motorcycle Club, including his closest friendship, are all tainted because he wanted someone who did not love him or his lifestyle.

Even though Hold has become this angry, hardened man - that bitterness has focused his energy and his attention towards saving his club. This leaves Hold and Ward engaged in a covert war. Things move quickly between the two and it feels like the destruction of the Hell Highwayman is inevitable. No one is safe. It is suspenseful and exciting.

Layered on top all that drama, is a new romance. Fate steps in and gives Hold his first real chance at true love with Shyla. You will truly like Shyla. She is strong, resilient – choosing this world and Hold. She gives comfort to him. Sanctuary. Love. But since nothing in his life is easy, there are consequences towards Hold acting on his feelings. It seems as though he is constantly going to put in position of having to choose between his heart and his love for the brotherhood.

Relationships like Hold and Shyla are the best kind of love to read about because you are dying for the couple to work out. You are overcome with their passion. Devour their uncontrollable and unavoidable moments of lust for one another. You want them to find their happily every after. It makes for an epic MC romance.

I loved both Beautiful Ink and Hell’s Ink. Each story has a lot going on but it makes for an extreme and harsh ride. I could not put either book down because each scene made me want more. (I also want Mikey to get more, too!!) I definitely recommend these two stories.

I have been anxiously awaiting Hold’s story. After reading Beautiful Ink I wasn’t even sure he was going to get one so I was excited for him to get a HEA.

Hold has been in love with Hel’s his whole life almost to the point of obsession. His love for her consumed him but for Hel’s she didn’t feel the same. She loved Hold but not in the same way and she HATED the mc life. It was Hold’s sacrifice and love for her that got her out.

Shyla comes to town to live with her Aunt Diamond. Shy actually comes from the mc life as her father was a biker. In this respect she was perfect for Hold. He needed someone that understood the life and wanted the life, unlike Hel’s who would have rather died than stayed in it any longer. Upon arriving in town she meets Mikey (Hold’s bff) and they form a friendship. She is attracted to Mikey but when she meets Hold it’s over for her. He is basically her lightning strike. I really didn’t care for the little love triangle here. Hold and Mikey didn’t need any other problems with their relationship. They were already at odds with what happened with Hel’s and all the mc problems. I just felt it wasn’t necessary. I would have liked more with Shy and Hold forming a connection instead of the confusion with Mikey. In the end I felt a little disconnected with them as a couple. I think I needed to see more of Hold letting go of Hel’s and more of him embracing and loving Shy.

I did love the explanation on Ward’s vendetta against Hel’s. I am kind of bummed with what happened to Ward in the end. I think he deserved a lot more payback because he was an evil prick.
I don’t know if we are getting more books in this series but I would like something for Mikey. I think he deserves a great girl and I would like to see where he went and how he is living.

The best! Beautiful Ink was a powerful little story and had a satisfying denouement. Still, readers were left worrying about one of the characters. Now Hell's Ink clears all of that up, delivering more of the same powerful storytelling with flawed but compelling and sympathetic characters, hot sex, and chilling villains. Seriously, no one writes scary monsters like Nicole Reed does in this MC story. These two books (Beautiful Ink is the first) are quick, fun reads that will keep you glued to the pages. Seriously.

I really enjoyed Shyla and Holt's story. This book was better IMO than book 1. Shyla was a perfect match for Holt and I liked the twists and turns the author weaved into the story. It's definitely not an insta-love story but by the time they commit you can tell it is a deep love. The suspense around Holt and his father was riveting and I kept trying to guess what twist would come up next. I'm really looking forward to Mikey's story and hope he finally gets the girl and a HEA. I'll definitely be picking up the next book in this series.

Woah. Nicole Reed did it again. This was outstanding.

I totally fell for Hold in the last book. He showed just enough of his soft side and vulnerability to reel you in and make you forget he was a hard ass biker who killed people. His love for Hels hooked me. So when I found out he had a book... I was totally torn between me not wanting him to get over his love for Hels and wanting him to find his happy ever after. Let me just say, I got both :)

Hold has made himself lovable. It just took the love of the woman that was meant for him. Shyla is with him no matter what. She gives him the strength to fix everything in his life that is messed up. Now, I'm ready for Mikey's story. He needs to come home and find love.

4.5 stars- reason I LOVE HOLDEN! I love him. One of my all time favorite male characters ever.
I didn't much care for how it was narrated. I personally prefer when the story is told from someone's point of view but I love Holden so it doesn't matter. If I took a picture of my chest right now, you would see the name Holden written over my heart. I love him that much.

4.5 stars. Holden sweet, adorable. Shyla truly a cutie. But the drama, the plot. Wow, his father Dayum he was a Mega Ass, Sandman, I wanted to be with Holden to conquer what needs to be done. Aww Mikey needs a book. Cheers to the author.
