Consumed with grief after the loss of her mother, Esme begins to see and hear things that others can’t.
Diagnosed with depression and anxiety, she hides her experiences, afraid she’s losing her mind. But everything changes after a session with her psychiatrist leads her to Perkin, a Canadian expat, and his mother, Toni, a reality researcher with unorthodox ideas.
As Esme and Perkin grow closer, she starts to believe her visions might be more than just symptoms – they could be glimpses into hidden layers of reality. Together, they test the boundaries of perception and are drawn into a world as dangerous as it is beautiful, where nothing is quite what it seems.
Firstly thanks to @instabooktours and @Thebookguild for gifting me an ARC version of this book.

My Review
I really enjoyed this book, it was such an easy read and I very quickly got in to the world and its characters. A fantasy book which explores the elements of multiple versions of the world, some more evil than other’s. The characters felt well built for me, even the supporting characters, and the only reason I didn’t give it the full 5 stars is I actually thought it could of been longer with some more on the backstory of some of the characters.
If you like fantasy books, and are looking for a nice easy read, I would highly recommend this.
Consumed with grief Esme begins to see things and hear things that others can’t. Assuming these are symptoms of declining health Esme is afraid she is loosing her mind and touch with reality. That is until she meets Perkin, a fellow struggler who listens to her.
I enjoyed this read as it was a story that grabbed me from the start especially because I didn’t know how it was going to develop. It had all the bits I loved about fantasy, multiple worlds with self discovery, exploration and of course something evil that needs to be defeated.
There is also within the story a tale of Esme her struggles with grief and the unknown. I really enjoyed how some of the least suspecting characters help her on her personal journey. Whilst I felt this was an easy read if you’re not used to fantasy it may take some time to get used to the transitions between different realities.
My only criticism is I could have read more so felt some parts could have been expanded. Hopefully though that means there will be more books to come about Esme or her companions to come.
What a brilliant book. This had such a unique concept that it kept me intrigued throughout. I loved Esmes character, she really went from not having much faith in herself to finally knowing who she is. I really liked Cromwell aswell. I'm glad Esme got some answers about her mother and was able to grow a bit closer to her as the story played out with what she learnt. I didn’t like Perkin much as I thought something was off about him and Toni from the start but by the end that changed and I felt sorry for him. I'm hoping that there will be another book as the story left it as it could or not but fingers crossed! 🤞🤞
Firstly I love it when I book is set somewhere I am familiar with so that was an instant win for me. I loved how the grief and mental health struggles were written they felt so realistic and heart wrenching.
I enjoyed the mix between worlds via the crossroads, magic and folklore it made for an exciting and interesting read. The mystery of what was happening and who was Esmes mother added an extra dimension to the story and I was gripped throughout.
I don't often give up on a book, but I made that decision with this book. The main character has visions from another time period while going through the grief of losing a loved one. I had a difficult time following the jumps between reality and her visions and found myself struggling to understand the storyline. This is not a book for my taste.
