He was raised to believe he was unclean, but the beast inside refused to die.
Jesse’s past is carved into his soul—a memory of a life he's been trying to outrun. As a bear shifter raised in a cult that forbade him from shifting, he was taught to abhor his own nature.
When his parents sent him to a gay conversion therapy camp after finding male-on-male porn in his browser history, it broke what was left of his spirit.
He learned early that love could wound deeper than any claw.
Now free but fractured, Jesse numbs the pain with booze, drugs, and selling himself to stay alive. When he moves to Creekside with his best friends, he hopes for peace—quiet nights, clean air, and no memories. But peace doesn’t last long when his addictions catch up to him.
Then Lucas enters the picture after a wild night in Metro City. A wolf shifter with an easy smile, Lucas is everything Jesse wants to avoid—kind, curious, dangerously sincere, and innocent.
But in a town where the forest hums peacefully and calmly, with Lucas at the helm, even a broken bear might learn what it means to be loved—if he’s brave enough to stop running.
Gritty, emotional, and intimate, Undesirable is a shifter romance about survival, the anguish of addiction, and the quiet strength it takes to let someone love you.
It was so good to get Jesse’s story after Carter and Rory got theirs. Jesse had protected and basically provided for the other two as they lived on the streets of Metro City, and Jesse’s dream was instrumental in the three moving to the woods outside Creekside, a community of wolf shifters and the humans who resided alongside them, to find a safer and more peaceful life where their bears would be able to be free. Carter and Rory had found their new lives with their mates, but Jesse had relapsed into his days of drugs, alcohol and sex work. One drunken night, Jesse hooked up with wolf shifter Lucas, pack leader of Creekside, and in an alcohol fueled haze, the two had gotten married. Not only were they different shifter species, Lucas a wolf and Jesse a bear, but both were Alphas. This would not go over well with the pack.
Both Jesse and Lucas have strong feelings for each other, but Lucas gets pressure from his sire and Jesse feels unworthy of Lucas, drowning in his addictions and memories of his past. As the two try to navigate Jesse’s lifestyle and Lucas’s unwavering support and care, both declare their commitment to each other, giving Jesse the desire to change and become the person Lucas believes him to be. The path is not easy, but when Jesse lays his life on the line for another pack member, the pack sees the Jesse that Lucas always knew was there and accepts him wholeheartedly, setting up for their future together.
There are dark parts in this story as Jesse works through his addiction and the sex work as well as uplifting ones as he realizes what he can have with Lucas, the commitment they make to each other, Lucas’s steadfast devotion and support while letting Jesse make his own choices, believing in his heart that the choices Jesse makes will be ones to get his life back on track to be the mate that Lucas deserves and to get the life that Jesse deserves after all he’s gone through before. There are hot steamy times and tender loving ones as Jesse comes to accept that he is worthy of being loved after all, and Lucas will be there for the rest of their lives together.
I can easily recommend this book and the whole series. The characters are complex and relatable, and the stories drew me in and kept me engaged the entire time, anxious to see how the damaged characters of Jesse, Carter and Rory found the love of their lives and the future they deserved. I will continue to watch for new books from this author, confident each new book will be a compelling read. I hope you enjoy them too.

Personally i am so loving this series and i found Undesirable a raw, emotionally heavy addition to the Creekside Valley series, tackling trauma, addiction and self-worth head-on. Jesse’s past is painful to read at times, and his coping mechanisms are messy and destructive, but they’re written in a way that makes his struggle feel heartbreakingly real. This isn’t an easy journey, and that’s very much the point.
Lucas brings a much-needed steadiness to the story, even when it feels like he’s carrying more than his fair share. Watching Jesse slowly confront his demons and begin to believe he deserves love makes their eventual connection far more rewarding. While it may not be the lightest book in the series, it’s an honest and compelling read that shows just how hard-won healing can be. Highly Recommend I received a free arc copy and this is my honest review
This series has been so, so good! Jesse's story was so deep and complex with his past childhood trauma, addiction troubles, and how he felt about himself...just heartbreaking. JT has once again put me through the wringer with this story. Raw, Gritty, Intense, Filthy, Emotional/Physical Scars, Definitely Hurt/Comfort, AND Healing, Acceptance, Love with some laughable and moments..and now I am shedding tears remembering the tender scenes again. Only gifted writers can pull those emotions from their readers...and TRUST me Jesse and Lucas's story is such a remarkable MUST read!! Their story is now one of few I will be rereading on cold winter days....grab a hot drink and a box of tissues and prepare yourself for an amazing book full of heart wrenching times, great chemistry, family and friends, and read about Jesse and Lucas's journey...
Triumphant! Jesse, is raised in a cult where self hatred and self healing are the resulting consequences. A man who despises his sexuality, finds shifting abhorrent and uses chemicals to make himself feel better and sells his body to fund his despair. He moves to Creekside and meets Lucas, a wolf shifter who is happy and entirely comfortable with who and what he is. This is a glorious and painful story of watching Jesse lose himself and struggle to find and reclaim himself with the kindness, patience and friendship of Lucas. Good story, Jesse and Lucas are amazing men. Great painful flow, but well worth it. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
'Gritty, raw, and unflinching, Undesirable is a dark shifter romance about addiction, self-loathing, and the terrifying hope that even the most damaged souls are worthy of love.'
The characters were very complex and complicated and compelling and perfect for. Plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

The struggle is real. This author did an amazing job representing addiction and the struggles to get clean. I'm a recovering addict, so the last three books were hard on me but worth it. I loved that Lucas was able to stand by Jessie even when things were horrible. I wish we could have seen their family grow. Jessie's gift to Carter had me sobbing. I really want more of all three couples.

What a relatable story. Managing an addiction is never easy. Watching a loved one never recover made me question if I could continue reading this book. I'm glad I did. The story was very thoughtful and nicely written.

I rated this book 3.5 stars, so I rounded it up to 4 stars. Even though I enjoyed this book and thought that it was another good addition to the Creekside Valley Series, it was definitely my least favourite of the series. Yes, Jesse has been through a lot of sh*t in his short life and the reason why he turned to dr*gs, alcohol and s*x is completely understandable but I do think that Lucas put up with a lot from him.
I’m really glad that Lucas didn’t give up on him though because it made Jesse realise that he’s actually worthy of and totally deserves love and I thought that he fought so bloody hard to claw himself back from the brink. When Lucas and Jesse actually got on the same page and Jesse stopped running and faced his trauma head on I thought they were really good together. I’m looking forward to reading more books from JT Fader in the future. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to others.
