From the author of the New York Times bestselling Bad Boys novels comes the first in a dark, sexy contemporary trilogy. Is she strong enough to trust the most dangerous man she’s ever met? And is he strong enough to let her? How would I describe myself? Well, I’m Muse Harper. I’m a twenty-something painter who loves red wine, quirky movies, and men with a fatal flaw. But that was before I met Jasper King. He became my fatal flaw. Eight months ago, I had a choice to make—abandon everything I’ve ever known to protect my family, or stay and risk someone getting hurt. I chose the former. My plan was working just fine until I found out my father had gone missing. That’s when I met Jasper. A bounty hunter with the eyes of a tiger and the nose of a bloodhound, he was supposed to help me find my father. What I didn’t know was that meeting him was no accident. Hunting people isn’t all that Jasper does. And helping me was only part of his plan. I just wish I’d found out sooner, before my heart got involved. But even then, I don’t know if I’d have done things differently. Now, I have another choice to make—trust the man that I’m falling in love with and hope that he’ll do the right thing, or run as far away from him as I can get.

I am a big fan of M. Leighton’s work. I love that she can write sweet and steamy romances, but she also takes risks and writes books that have a bit more of an edge. Strong Enough is one of those books. It focuses on Muse. A girl who starts out by hiring who she thinks is just a bounty hunter to find her father. She quickly learns that Jasper King is so much more than that.
She’s got a father to find. I’ve got answers to obtain. And then, we will come to an end. An unfortunate end. She deserves better, but it is what it is. I have a job to do and it has to come first. Always first.

Jasper King has a job to do and it’s not just to find Muse’s father. Jasper is involved in something much deeper than that and he has to find answers. He needs Muse to get to the man who can give him his answers, and she needs him to find her father. It’s a win win for both. What neither expected was to have feelings for the other…

 photo de4d7af8-9cae-4487-9d81-c8d72be9403d_zps7xfi92r6.jpg

Muse falls for Jasper quick. She has strong and intense feelings for him that don’t go away, no matter what different sides of him she sees. Jasper feels for her as well, even though he knows he shouldn’t. He knows there is no way this can possibly end well.

Muse and Jasper’s story was interesting, it was original, steamy, and well written. There were elements of this book that I very much enjoyed. My only big issue with this one is I thought their love moved too quickly and I found that personally I had trouble connecting to either character. Also, I wanted more for their ending. Overall, I still did like this book- I just wish I would have connected more to the characters and their story. I am looking forward to reading the next book, which will be about Jasper’s friend, Rogan.

This is one I recommend for anyone looking for a steamy and original read with some mystery!

I want her bad. But even when that happens, it will be with the knowledge of what's to come, of how I'll betray her. What kind of person could do that?
A monster, that's who.
And I'm that monster.

If the prologue here doesn't grip you by the throat and suck you right in, we're not reading the same book, because HOLY SHIT! Talk about your attention grabber. M. Leighton really doesn't pull any punches and I knew I was in for a page turner from the first chapter alone. Intense, gritty, erotic, with a dash of mystery and suspense, Strong Enough is the beginning of what's bound to be yet another winner from this talented author.
He doesn't have to say a word, doesn't have to move a muscle to exude confidence and capability. And danger. Lots and lots of danger.

Muse Harper left her life to protect someone she loves, but now with her father gone missing, she's desperate for answers and bounty hunter, Jasper King, may be able to help her with the answers she needs. There's just one problem; he's not who he is and has his own agenda that poses a much bigger threat to Muse than the disappearance of her father.
I'm probably the worst thing in the world for you. The worst thing that would feel like the best.

The reader is left to assume Jasper's history and you're definitely in the dark about his agenda through most of the book, which just serves to make him even more intense than he already is. Jasper was the perfect enigma. He's deliciously sexy while exuding a raw danger, all wrapped up in muscled tattooed perfection. The man was pure sex on a stick. The chemistry between him and Muse is instant and burns so hot, the pages practically sizzle with it. Jasper knows that he's deceiving Muse, he may be helping her find her father, but his end game is not one that she expects. The more he gets to know the woman, the more ridden he is with guilt about his inevitable betrayal. Wanting her is not a question, allowing himself to have her is the ultimate taboo.
The kiss is different from his first. That one said wanting me was an inconvenient truth. This one says having me is an inevitability.

While Jasper was a character I fell for right away, Muse took a while to warm up to for me. She's just a touch away from being almost too naive. She definitely dangles on the very fine edge of it and there's things she does and says that made me want to shake her. It's like the woman has absolutely zero self preservation instinct. Jasper may fight his attraction to Muse, but Muse certainly knows what she wants and she's not as willing to deny herself. She also wants more than she knows Jasper will be able to give her, but that doesn't stop her from craving.
How do you think love is supposed to work? How does it work for you?"
"It holds you captive, whether you want it to or not. It never lets you go, no matter how much you want to be set free."

As much as Muse may have frustrated me in parts of the story, I absolutely loved the two of them together. It's this push pull that exists between them that just makes things even more erotic that they already are. It's like you're privy to something that Muse doesn't know yet and you're still rooting for Jasper who for all intents and purposes may very well be the bad guy.
I trust my tongue into her pussy. I thrust my finger into her ass. I penetrate her, body and soul, until she pours out for me like she's making a sacrifice to the god of war. And I drink her in. Her acquiescence, her surrender, her acceptance, I drink it all in.

Fans of her other books will appreciate the appearance of a certain couple here that made me a little giddy to read about; Cash and Olivia. There's also the introduction of a few secondary characters that I'm already desperate to read about.

The ending gives you just enough to satisfy while also leaving you practically salivating for the next book. An MMA fighter that's also special ops? Are you freaking kidding me. I don't think I'd survive the wait. If you're looking for an erotic romance with just the right amount of edge, Strong Enough is certainly that. The title of this series is quite appropriate, and that's exactly what you'll get. I simply can't wait for more.
Sarò sempre pensare a te.

3 stars!

When Muse Harper's dad disappeared, she hired the best bounty hunter in the business to find him. Enter Jasper King. He's mysterious, gorgeous and the best at what he does. The attraction between him and Muse was immediate. But Jasper is hiding something from Muse. He's not really the guy she thinks he is. For one, he is much more than a bounty hunter Two, his end game is much more nefarious than Muse had suspected.

This one was a bit of a mixed bag for me. There were parts which I really liked while there are others which was just okay for me.

I liked Muse and Jasper, individually but as a couple, it's a different story. I never quite connected with their "love" for each other. There were moments where I was like, "Yes! Finally! Feels!" But then it never really reached that point of where I was 100% rooting for them. On the upside, the sexy times were scorching hot. You could feel the chemistry between the two characters.

Another thing that really didn't quite gel for me was the whole plot. Don't get me wrong. I loved the premise of the story but it didn't feel as developed or as tight as I would have liked. It almost felt like the story started in the middle. We do get Jasper's back story a little bit. It was heartbreaking but there's a huge gap between what happened to him as a child to who he has become. As for Muse, we didn't really get anything substantial from her. Who is Muse? The book ended and I got my HEA but I was left asking that question. I didn't feel like I got to know Muse. There were snippets of what her life is like but again, it was fleeting. I wish I could have gotten more.

So yes, I enjoyed this book overall but the story and the character arcs felt insubstantial. Therefore, I didn't feel as invested in the story as I would have liked. Despite that, I'm really looking forward to the next book. Like I said, I loved the premise of the whole series, so I would definitely be reading the next one.

Title: Strong Enough
Series: Tall, Dark, and Dangerous #1
Author: M. Leighton
Release date: August 4, 2015
Cliffhanger:No
HEA

He is heat, he is gravity. He is the center of all my senses. He is consuming.

I struggled with my rating and after a little bit of back and forth, I'm settling on four stars. I had to gather my thoughts a bit and muddle through my discordant feelings before I could give a fair review. I'm not a huge follower of this author, having only read a few of her books, but from what I've read, she likes to write unique storylines with plot twists. I like that. I also enjoy the fact that she doesn't shy away from writing raw and sometimes disturbing scenes-she knows how to evoke emotion from her readers and this book was no exception. While I wasn't the heroine's biggest fan, I couldn't help but hang on and tense for her eventual downfall. Because from page one, it become clear that there would be destruction and disillusionment. The only question was, when?

The prologue is typical M. Leighton-it throws you into a tragic moment in time that completely wrecks you and leaves you with bated breath for what's to come. She did a fantastic job grabbing hold of me and fluently bringing me inside the story. From the tone set in the intro, you're not going to have a problem putting your guard up and anticipating the worst.

My impression of the heroine Muse's first meet with the hero, Jasper? It was a little bit like a predatory animal stalking his unsuspecting prey. She seems to think that he's there to help her find her missing father. She's in hiding and their last secret scheduled communication he was a no show. Now, she fears that the danger following him has finally caught up to him. But if anyone can find the whereabouts of her father it's Jasper, a man who gets things done in any means necessary.

The thing is, through dual POV we see that nothing is quite what it appears with him. Jasper is a man who fits Dark and Dangerous to a "T". Hard and merciless doesn't even begin to cover it. I was more than a little nervous for the heroine with her naive nature. This was the main issue I had with the story. Knowing how cold and calculating this man is, she was way too trusting of his motives. In fact, the more you learn about what lies under the surface with this man, the more wide-eyed innocent she appears to be.

I've never met someone more stimulating and handsome and intriguing than Jasper King. I've never met someone who makes me want to ask so many questions. And I've never met someone who makes me feel like I'll never get any of the answers.

I didn't like how easily fooled she was by not only this man, but everyone around her. She was a little bit too damsel-in-distress for my taste. And knowing what I knew, while she was in the dark, (or perhaps stubbornly refused to heed the signs of danger) made my patience with her start to thin. On the other hand, she was very much the opposite of him: bright, optimistic, filled with hope and despite her circumstances retained an innocence to her character. Jasper was none of those things. He was a lost soul. Emotionless and almost machine-like in his single minded determination to reach his goals.

He had no sense of morality that I could see, but Muse was determined to bring him to life and make him see the decency that he thought was long gone. She was a stubborn girl and she never gave up, that was one thing I admired about her. But in reality, it was probably one of her most foolish qualities in the circumstances.

He didn't want this, but like me, he can no longer resist it. There's something between us, something that has a life of his own.

When they succumb to their attraction, it was with an ominous tenor surrounding it. The backlash was inevitable, but I sure was enjoying it while it lasted. Jasper was a dominating and forceful man. Unleashing his lust and bottled up emotions was not to be missed. Talk about explosive!

He is wild and raw, dangerous and tempting. He's a sleek, powerful animal, seeking to thrill and destroy. He overcomes, he devours, he possesses. He refuses to share his kill with anything else. For a heartbeat, I'm his. His prey. Not necessarily willing, just helpless to fight against him.

As the mystery/suspense unraveled, I discovered that my predictions about what he was hiding was correct. But of course, nothing ends up happening how it was supposed to go. I'm not going to give any more away about the plot, you really need to go into this one blind because of the mysterious nature of certain characters' motivations and where the danger lies. This book builds a strong base for future books. Though there is no cliffhanger for this couple, there are some loose ends left dangling to be tied up in the following books. I'm especially looking forward to Tough Enough, Rogan's story. The tease at the end was just enough to whet my appetite for the next Tall, Dark, and Dangerous man to come.

No, just no more pls. I don’t know if it was the narrator (C. J. Bloom) or the actual story that annoyed me, but this FMC made me want to throw my phone in frustration.

I’m so mad I wasted one of my hoopla reads on this one.

3.5 - 4 ★'s

After reading the latest installments in the Bad Boy series and meeting the notorious Jason Jasper King, I was really looking forward to his story and the woman that would unlock his secrets.

Well, Muse has some secrets of her own. She's hiding out and now her Dad has failed to meet up for their monthly call. Naturally, she turns to Jasper who has even more secrets such as agreeing a little too easily to Muse accompanying him on his road trip to find her Dad.

I'm really not too sure what I think of Muse. On one hand, she was basically raised to watch her back but on the other, she's really naive about so many things. It's not her fault that she's kept in the dark but it does lead to some frustrations.

Jasper, oh Jasper...my heart went out to him after reading that prologue and it certainly explained so many things. BUT...I was disappointed in how easily he fell. He's made out to be this cold, calculated person that no one can get to and I just felt that things were way too easy for Muse. It did help to get both their POVs but I still wanted things to be more difficult.

description

Events do take an interesting turn once they meet up with Muse's father. I had a hard time being patient waiting to find out what all these secrets were! However, I did love all the time they spent at the cabin...I had A LOT of patience for that! ;)

Then, the drama unfolds...in more ways than one. Some things come full circle and others are left open ended and will be continued in the future books. Gotta hook you in!

I loved what Muse did towards the end and what her paintings were about. I'm glad that she wasn't the only one. And I especially enjoyed seeing that side of Jasper. He was so sweet in the epilogue!

Next up is Rogan's (a friend of Jasper's) book called Tough Enough coming out November 3, 2015. And then another friend, Tag's, book, Brave Enough is coming out April 5, 2016.

★★★ 3 Stars ★★★

Muse is the daughter of a military man, his job is unknown but when he goes missing she pulls out all the stops to try and find him.

When bounty hunter Jasper King comes to assist, they are instantly attracted to each other but he is hiding a secret which is preventing him from showing her the true him.

They both go on a road trip to try and locate her dad, and fall for each other along the way.

I really can't tell you much more than that, unfortunately this book did not pull me in like I hoped it would. There was a case of the insta-love going on here and I felt disconnected from them due to the lack of relationship development.

It wasn't a bad book by any means, there was plenty of mystery and suspense and of course lots of steamy moments. I think this will be one of those series that gets better with each book, so I am hopeful that the next one will be more of a winner for me personally.

It is the first in a trilogy, but each book will focus on different couples.

5 - "You'll either kill me or heal me." Stars!

It has been a while since I have read a book by Michelle Leighton, her Bad Boys series is, and will most likely always be one of my all-time favorites, and I think that is one of the reasons that Strong Enough turned out to be such an enjoyable read as well. Written similarly to that series, this book pulled me in from the prologue (which also made me ugly cry) and kept me hooked until its end.

Jasper and Muse are pretty much polar opposites, one dark to the others light, one closed off whereas the other is painfully open. The one thing they do have in common is that not everything is as it seems from initial assumptions, the only difference between them being is that one of them knows that fact, and the other is completely unaware of it, well at the beginning anyway.

We all hide our real selves behind some kind of mask.

The other thing I liked about this book, and again this is something that the author does so well, is that what you originally believe the path the story is going to take, then actually turns out to be nothing like the route it then follows. It keeps the reader on their toes, and the excitement at a constant fizz.

”What I offer, I excel at providing.”

I have a massive soft spot for broken bad boys, and Jasper King epitomizes everything that I love, he is dirty, and sexy and he does it so well he is sooooo good to the point that he is bad in that respect. A dirty talker who backs up his words with equally dirty actions, and someone who isn’t bothered with societies perceived rules and regulations on what is right and wrong, my heart was just as aflutter as Muse’s was for most of the book. I liked his unpredictability as well, it keeps you on your toes as a reader when you have no idea what a character is going to do next.

We also get to meet the rest of the men from the Tall, Dark and Dangerous series in Stong Enough, and Rogan is up next in Tough Enough, due November 2015, and Tag gets his story told in Brave Enough due April 2016, being ex-special forces and Jasper's team-mates, you just know that these two guys are going to be just as sexy, dirty and imposing as Jasper is, and that their stories are going to be just as heart-grasping and breathtakingly engrossing as well.

”Do you really want to know what it feels like to play with a monster?”

The strongest thread of this story is actually about Jasper and his team being double crossed, and although Strong Enough is based around the building of the relationship between Muse and Jasper, I can see a lot of thrills and spills coming in the following books as Tag and Rogan try and figure out who is targeting them and the reasoning’s behind it.

Like a tiger. Surefooted. Silent. Deadly.

The potential for this series is huge, the author alone and her immense talent ensure that, and I am whole-heartedly looking forward to the ride.

4 – 4.5 Searching for Something Stars

It’s been awhile since I’ve read a M. Leighton book. I’m excited for a new series and I’m ready to jump in. Strong Enough is a standalone and is part of the Tall, Dark and Dangerous series. Each book will focal a new character. Strong Enough is Jasper and Muse’s story.

Strong Enough starts out with a bang and I was instantly hooked. The prologue is gritty, graphic and it kind of sets the tone of the book. I wouldn’t call this a dark read, but it’s darker than her other series. You know I love my dark reads, so this worked for me.

Muse loves her dad, but her dad is very paranoid. He doesn’t leave near his daughter and he calls once a month to check up on her. When Muse doesn’t get her monthly phone call from Daddy, she gets very worried and hires Jasper to find her dad.

Jasper is broody, mysterious and very good at his job. We know Jasper has a past with a baggage of issues, which keeps him cold, distant and aloof towards Muse. Jasper is attracted to Muse, but he knows he’s not good for her. He agrees to help Muse find her dad and they go on a road trip.

I love road trip books and although it’s not a complete road trip book, I enjoyed this part. I felt like Muse and Jasper really got to know each other and little bits of his past was revealed. There’s nice tension between Jasper and Muse. Muse wants Jasper, but Jasper continues to push her away because he doesn’t want any form of relationship.

“She’s a woman who makes my blood blaze and my body ache. She’s a woman who has enough fire to thaw a small piece of what’s been frozen for a long time. “

“I want only to consume, to take her in. All of her, leaving nothing behind but vapor. “

I liked how tortured Jasper was and I kept on wondering what he story was. Why is he the way he is? What happened to him? Why does he act like that towards Muse? I like a damaged Hero and Jasper fits the bill.

There are many levels to this book and it shifts a lot, which I liked. I felt like the pace just kept moving me forward and I was going along for the ride. Not only we find out more about Jasper, but we learn some things about Muse too. Yes, she has a past and this book has a suspenseful, mystery element to it, which I am a fan of.

If you like M. Leighton books and want something a little different, then this is for you.

A mystery wrapped in an enigma!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: ☺️😊🙃🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Muse Harper - she is an artist who works at a men’s clothing store. She broke up with her boyfriend about eight months ago and hasn’t been seeing anyone since. She loves men and they are her achilles heel. When a handsome bounty hunter comes into the shop to get fitted for a suit, she is immediately attracted to the dangerous and intense man.

The Hero: Jasper King - his father was abusive, and his mother never stood up to him. Jasper sees him drown his older brother in the lake behind the house one night. He grew up to be a dangerous man and a bounty hunter.

The story: Jasper is the bounty hunter that Muse wanted to hire to find her father. They meet later that night at her apartment. Muse is sketchy in the details she gives Jasper about her father. Though they are in San Diego and her father is in South Carolina. Jasper is planning to drive there and tells her once he gets there it will probably take a few days to find him. Muse tells him she wants to go along so she can see and talk to her father.

Going back to South Carolina is not something Muse should be doing, and her father would be mad at her for it. Something happened when she lived there and her father sent her to San Diego to live with someone he trusted, Mirin. Mirin owns the clothing store where Muse works. Jasper is even more mysterious than Muse, and he has his own agenda in why he takes the job. It was a good book, but one of those that you are always waiting for secrets to be revealed.

This audiobook was narrated in dual points of view via dual narration. C.J. Bloom and Joe Arden. Joe Arden has a great voice and always sounds natural. He is one of my favorite narrators and you can count on him to do a wonderful job. C.J. Bloom has a clear feminine voice which is pleasant, and she also does a terrific job and does a good southern accent.

3.75 Strong Stars all for Jasper!

M. Leighton never lets me down when I need a quick steamy read with a touch 0f angst and suspense. Since the Bad Boys's are one of my all time favorite series, I was happy to get a bit of Cash and Olivia when the mysterious Jasper got himself involved in a bit of a hunt!

Jasper was hired by Muse to find her military father, who missed his weekly phone check in. Doesn't seem like a bit deal until you go deeper into the story! Those military men always have secrets...even those who are supposed to be helping you!

I love a tortured man, and Jasper is truly a "monster" of his past. He kills for a living...no hesitation. It is fairly predictable that Muse would be the one person to get under his skin...to make him want and feel for the first time since he was a little boy. It was also predictable that this would be a "i want you, but cant have you tale."

Overall, I enjoyed the read. it was quite fast and pretty well developed. My only rant would be Miss Muse herself. LAWD...this woman asked sooooo many questions! She never stopped talking! I think in needed her to be a little colder...more reserved and shocked at times. Good think Jasper was the quiet, just do it type! Totally made up for emotional oral overtures!

Muse hires Jasper to help find her father who has disappeared - or so she thinks. Jasper has his own agenda in the matter and is after her father for his own reasons. The attraction between them is instant, but Jasper's secrets hold him back from Muse and he won't get too close to her.

I really enjoyed these characters, especially Jasper. He was the king of dirty talk and oh lawd it was hot. He didn't think he was good enough for someone as sweet as Muse but that couldn't stop him from taking what he craved. Muse was a really caring person and she was the type that walked around with her heart on her sleeve. I actually liked that about her and liked that she was so open with her feelings.

Despite how much I liked each of them, I had trouble connecting to Jasper and Muse as a couple. I just didn't feel the overwhelming sense of love with them. The end felt rushed and I was looking for a deeper connection between them by that point. I did like that Muse was able to help Jasper realize that he wasn't the monster he thought he was, though.

The plot was really interesting and the secrets that popped up added intrigue, but the way it played out was kind of confusing. I feel like there were some plot holes and I had trouble following along at times. Luckily my questions were answered by the end, but by that point I was already confused. I found myself putting the book down several times when I just got too annoyed with it.

Overall, this is a really interesting mystery with the added bonus of hot romance. I did have my problems with the story but still enjoyed most of it. I recommend it for anyone that likes a hot dirty talker and the thrill of mysteries.

I FREAKING LOVED EVERY SINGLE MINUTE OF THIS BOOK!!!!!!

Michelle gives us one great story with Jasper and Muse. She had me right from the start with the prologue in this one.

Muse Harper has started a new life to protect those she loves most. When her father misses there call to each other she enlists the help of bounty hunter, Jasper King to help her find him. Little does she know Jasper has his own agenda with her and her father.

Jasper leads a lonely life of staying to himself. He is trained very well for what he does going from one job to the next and never having a regular normal life. He always finds his man and nothing ever stops him from getting what he wants.

I want her bad. But even when that happens, it will be with the knowledge of what's to come, of how I'll betray her. What kind of person could do that?
A monster, that's who.
And I'm that monster.

Jasper has his own past and tries his hardest to keep his distance from Muse, but there is a strong connection between the two of them. They are drawn to each other and it is hard to fight.

He is heat, he is gravity. He is the center of all my senses. He is consuming.

As the story progresses we start to find out what is really going on and where Muse’s dad is. Things start to add up and so does the heat between Muse and Jasper. This story was intense and sexy all in one. I loved the storyline. I loved the characters.

We also get to meet the rest of Jasper’s team Tag and Rogan who will have their own books in the series. I cannot wait for Rogan’s book which is the next one in the series.

This is my first read by Miss Leighton. I am not sure about her writing style. Strong Enough is an assasin romance. It has been a while since I had ny fix on assasin romance.

Jasper the hero grips me from the very start. His horrific childhood undone me. His character haunted me. I like hos Miss Leighton brings his character to live. Muse on the other hand is just over dramatic on everything. Not my favarite heroine.

Strong Enough does not bring these 2 characters together well. I feel Jasper is at his glorious when he is apart from Muse' character. I love his broodiness and his loneliness. When he is with Muse, the plot becomes a messy chocolate cake.

Well I guess I have to read the next book in this series.

More Reviews Here: Readers Live A Thousand Lives

Whenever I pick up an M. Leighton book, I know I am in for a good time and Strong Enough was no exception. Michelle just knows how to tell a great story and her writing gets better and better with each book. I loved the suspense angle she added with Strong Enough and I also enjoyed the romance. It was a great blend of those elements.

Muse was a likable heroine. Michelle has a knack for writing great female leads, who are a great combination of strength and determination, but still feel realistic. I liked Muse a lot and I liked that she was willing to take that extra step and risk herself for those she loves.

As for Jasper, well I’m not going to lie, I didn’t love Jasper right away. He made me very uncomfortable in the beginning and I just didn’t fall for him immediately. He is just so intense and I think maybe a tad too intense for me at times. Jasper had to work very hard for my love, but in the end he earned it. He has had a troubled past and it has left its mark on him, but he isn’t the monster he thinks he is.

Surprisingly, my favorite things about Strong Enough have nothing to do with the romance, although I did like Muse and Jasper together. What I liked most though was the suspense plot in this one. I was so curious as to what put all of the events in motion and who was behind it. I wanted to uncover every secret and pull back every characters many layers. There were even moments where I was like “stop kissing and tell me what is going on”, and anyone who knows me knows that I never say things like that. My other favorite thing was the prologue. The prologue is absolutely gut wrenching and it broke me into a million pieces. It was amazingly written and I loved it.

Strong Enough was another great read from Michelle. This author just works for me and I know I am always going to enjoy her books. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this series delivers.

Feels. That word has been expanded to mean more because of this book. It's packed with FEELS from the prologue to the very end. FEELS.

Jasper King is a dangerous man. A product of a painful and heartbreaking youth, this boy will have you from the prologue. My heart ached for him. His heart and his mind is encased in a strong box that doesn't allow anyone inside. He had to create this box to survive. No one gets past it. He does his job. The job always comes first. Nothing gets in the way. Nothing until Muse.

Muse is hiding. Trying to protect her dad and stay safe, she's only got a couple of friends in a new city and a new job. But when she doesn't hear from her dad, she hires Jasper to find him. But nothing is a it seems and I do mean NOTHING. Muse has let her father protect her for far too long. She lets him get away with keeping her in the dark but over the course of the book, Muse comes into her own. No more clueless Muse. She wants the truth. All of it.

As these two spend time together, the attraction they both feel flares. It's not smart for either of them. But neither can resist. But as the truth starts to come out, things get complicated and the feels come strong.

I was pretty surprised with this story. I had so many guesses and they were wrong. I figured out a few things but I was texting my friend, Krista (she was reading it too) with the total freakout response of OMG over and over again. She just laughed at me until she caught up with me and then she understood.

I've always loved this author and this book just increases that mad love. She is a master story teller that always makes me happy. While it was an emotional read for me, I loved every moment.

If you love M. Leighton, you will want this one. If you just love a great romance that goes from hopeless to happy, then you want this one. If you love the emotional ones that rock the sexy too, you want this one. You want this one.

Muse hires Jasper, a bounty hunter, to find her father. Eight months before Muse left her home to protect her family. She keeps regular contact with her dad and when she does not hear from him, she gets worried and hires Jasper to find him. However, Muse learns that nothing is real as more and more secrets are revealed.

The romance between Muse and Jasper was nice. I did not connect with them the way I would have liked. Their initial meeting, I loved, but then it felt like they were going through the motions. I love when characters take road trips, but in this one I felt Muse was just annoying Jasper and not entertaining him. What I would have normally thought of as cute behavior from the heroine became annoying.

As the story continues, both Muse and Jasper break down the walls, but their story became predictable. Where I would have loved a little more angst considering everything that was happening; there was very little.

This book was a conundrum for me. There were parts I liked and others I thought fell flat. It was an interesting story, but it did not grab me like the other books that this author wrote. I am not sure if it was all the inner dialogue that left me disconnected.

hm... I loved it ... kind of ☺
I loved Jasper - the story could've been perfect, but it was just a bit too slow for me - the prologue was great - made me cry. And then the story just cruises along like the road trip Muse and Jasper are on... There was just something missing for me - it got suspensy and faster towards the end. It was really ok - pretty good actually - but I was expecting a tiny bit more :/

I am never disappointed when I read one of M. Leighton's books. And her new series, Tall, Dark and Dangerous, starts off with a bang!! I loved the storyline- and how it is really considered a dark romance. Such a step away from what we have seen from Leighton, but I found it to be a breath of fresh air! I was totally under her spell as the writing unfolded. The book had such a good flow- especially to the plot and storyline. I really enjoyed the characters- hero and heroine a like. Jasper and Muse will get under your skin and totally make you think about them- long after the story is over.

Jasper King, is the hero. And I really enjoyed him. He is very mysterious- and dark, definitely dark. He has a job to do, and doesn't factor feelings into anything that he does. But his job starts to mesh with things from his past- and he meets the heroine of the story- and maybe his feelings toward relationships will change?

Muse Harper is the heroine. She is totally fun- and fancy free. But she also has this sense of loyalty and determination that made her really likable. Her father is the only person in her family she has left, and he turns up missing. She doesn't know what do to- until she is left with only one option- to contact bounty hunter- Jasper King.

These two characters definitely pulled me in with their chemistry. I know they try the whole "let's stay away from each other and our feelings" thing that most romance novels do- and above all the things I felt for this couple, I just knew- they were meant to be!

I really enjoyed this story- and I can't wait for more. The story and everything about it was different for Leighton, but in a good way. I think this book is going to quickly become my favorite one from her. I know that people will be chomping at the bit to find out the ending, just like I was. And I can't wait for the next book- and hope there is a series to follow!!

The prologue was quite possibly the hardest thing I've ever read. I just sat there. Hands shaking. Chest tight. Heart hurting. Perfectly still. Wondering if I was even strong enough to go on. To read more. To see where this story would take me. I needed to process. So I did. I took a little time; not even putting my kindle down, and then a took a big breath, and I carried on.

Thankfully, the rest of the book was much easier to read, taking the route of Leighton's usual, addictive style. This is one author who sure knows how to spin an unputdownable story, and she also happens to be one of the very few authors who still manages to surprise me with the twists and turns of every book she produces.

Muse was a great heroine: strong, loyal, and incredibly loving. She really had the likability factor of a fab character. And then there's the mysterious, intense, and downright sexy, Jasper. He was definitely something else.

Another fantastic read from M Leighton, which doesn't surprise me in the slightest! She's the queen of twists and sexy romances. I loved getting to know Jasper, and I'm now desperate for the rest of his teams books!

I didn't think M. Leighton would be able to make me like a killer. I typically don't go for these types of stories, but after reading about Jasper in Cash and Olivia's novella series this summer, I was intrigued. I ended up really enjoying this story. The story line was suspenseful and kept me engaged. The romance was super hot and Jasper's "ghosts" from his past made for a complicated and, in the end, satisfying story.

I love that, even though the series and plot will continue, there was no cliff-hanger and the next book will focus on a new couple. Can't wait!!

My Review

Strong Enough was a sexy, exciting, thrilling, and beautiful read. M. Leighton swept me away with this story of strong characters and intriguing storytelling. Jasper was intense and Muse was strong. The suspense was so gripping and I couldn’t put this one down once I start it.

Muse, as I said, is a very strong character. I felt that Leighton did a great job at presenting that with her character. Muse’s world gets thrown upside down, but despite it all, I felt she kept a reasonable leveled head. But not only does her strength lie in that department as well. When she enters Jasper’s world, that strength of hers really was tested. And that’s when she really shined.

Jasper can be described as intense, dark, stoic, almost broody in a sense, and downright dangerous. Now, the intensity can be too much for some readers, but I enjoyed that about him. I think that made his position, his painful past, and his personality that much more raw for me. But I think what I enjoyed the most about Jasper was he development throughout the book. And in end, he was someone I really came to love.

The love between Muse and Jasper, like so much in this book, was intense. It was a fast spark between them and a fierce burn afterwards. One that can never be put out. I enjoyed the steamy factor and the spark between them.

The character growth was one of my favorite aspects of the book. I felt Jasper’s growth was so well written, interesting, and it fit his character so well. And it gave me so much depth to who he is. It allowed me to understand why he is so intense, why he came off so deadly and dangerous.

The plot was well paced. The suspense I couldn’t get enough of and I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next for Jasper and Muse. It was enthralling to say the least. The buildup warped me up into the story nicely. And though I did figure out some of the plot, there were still a few things I didn’t see coming. Leighton’s writing style, once again, pulled me in right away. She swept me up in her words and took me on a wonderful ride.

The only thing I didn’t enjoy that much, was how quickly they fell for each other. There wasn’t a lot of buildup between them emotionally or sexually. However, despite that, there was passion between them and I did enjoy seeing Jasper and Muse overcome all the obstacles they suffered through.

Strong Enough is a sexy start to another wonderful series by the fabulous author M. Leighton.

With such a heart-wrenching prologue, I just knew this was going to be a fantastic read! Leighton showcases her beautiful writing perfectly in this sexy, action-packed, heart-stopping new series! STRONG ENOUGH kept me up until the early morning hours, keeping me exhilarated the whole way through. My curiosity was piqued from the very beginning, and when it all comes together, you won't know what hit you.

Muse Harper walked away from her life to protect a loved one. When that loved one goes missing she becomes desperate, reaching out to a bounty hunter with so many secrets. Jasper King always finds his guy, and he is more than willing to help Muse, but might he have an ulterior motive? Jasper is a man with his own agenda. He is ruthless, brutal, and gets what he wants no matter what. Muse was supposed to be a means to an end, collateral damage, but she gets to close, starts to press his buttons, and ends up getting a glance at the man behind the monster.

This is an intense and sexy romance shrouded with mystery. Shock wave after shock wave of suspenseful goodness. Oh how I absolutely ADORED Jasper's character. The man who believes he is a monster, void of any emotion other than anger. He ends up falling so hard for the girl and showing us who he really is deep inside. It's a beautiful journey, a sad and heartbreaking journey, but beautiful none the less. Muse was a great heroine - strong, determined, perfect for Jasper in every way. This couple worked so well together. They had fantastic smoldering chemistry. The kind that will give you chills.

This was such a great tale of passion, love, and sacrifice. There is tons of mystery, intrigue, and sexy goodness! Intensely emotional at times, I became invested in this couple, rooting them on every step of the way. Leighton did her job with this book. She got me SO excited for what is to come in this series. We meet fantastic characters and get a small glimpse into their lives, giving us an inkling of what is to come. This author always blows me away with her beautiful style of writing. She sucks me in and holds my head and my heart captive. I LOVE it!

4 Tall, Dark, Dangerous and Sexy Stars!

"What constitutes enough?"

"It's enough when you can't bear the thought of life without that person.  It's enough when you can't let them go, or when you'd cross an ocean just to be with them.  Anything less than that is just  . . . less. It isn't enough."

It has been forever since I read a M. Leighton book so I was glad for this opportunity to read this one.  Then it starts off with the prologue.  Wow! What a prologue!  Then all of a sudden it felt like I was reading a completely different book from the prologue.  I knew that it would come full circle but it was a shock the difference from the prologue to chapter 1.  But I'm a patient girl so I continued to read and I ended up quite liking the story.

Muse needs help so she enlists the bounty hunter Jasper King to help her find her father.   Jasper King has an agenda so he needs Muse to make it all happen.  What he didn't expect is to have Muse make him feel things that he has never felt before.

"What's more important than safety?

"Making a life, making the choices, having the things that are worth keeping safe.  Those things are more important.  If not for them, what would be worth saving?"

The chemistry between these two is immediate and strong.  It can't be denied.  Damn the consequences, as both know going in there is going to be damage.  The question is though, who is going to be damaged?  Muse or Jasper or both?

"Me? What did I do?"

"You dug too deep.  You have too much.  Now there's no going back, whether you want to or not.  It's too late.  You'd have to leave here to escape me."

As they sizzle the sheets a connection is formed.  But when reality comes back into their little bubble who is going to come out unscathed?  Did I like this book?  Yes, quite a lot.  Did I like Muse and Jasper as a couple? Yes, but their connection was too quick it was basically four days long.  Which wasn't enough to truly emphasis the strength of their emotions.  Did I like Muse?  For the most part yes.  At times she was a bit gullible and predictable but otherwise she was quite strong and feisty.  Did I like Jasper?  Yes I did my his inner turmoil was a gift and a curse for me.  It's what makes you fall for him especially in the end, but at the same time it drags on too long in the middle of the story. Will I read more from this series? Definitely yes.  Can't wait for Rogan's story.

Holy Sh!tballs - that prologue!

Way to rip a girls heart out right from the start!!!

I have read most of M. Leighton's work, and am yet to have been disappointed.

Strong Enough is darker than Ms Leighton's usual writing, and I found it very refreshing. There are only so many fluffy, sweet, romantic stories (which I adore) you can read before you need to sink your teeth into something grittier.

As dark, dangerous and broody as Jasper is, you can feel the walls around him cracking and tumbling as he and our leading lady Muse spend more time together.

My heart hurt for Muse over and over. Just as we thought we knew what was happening, something would happen that would rip the rug out from under her feet, and she had to learn who to trust again.

There was plenty of suspense, intrigue and passion which kept me up way past my bedtime so I could finish reading Strong Enough.

The story flowed seamlessly - even though there is a huge enigma wrapped in a riddle wrapped in a mystery that kept slowly unfolding before my eyes.

But do our lovelies get their HEA? Nope, for that you are going to have to read for yourself.

Strong Enough was a wonderful, strong, broody start to the Tall, Dark and Dangerous series, and I cannot wait for more.

Original Review @ Naomi’s Reading Palace

Every time Michelle Leighton puts out a book, I MUST read it! So when Strong Enough was set to release I could not wait to get my hands on it! Just by reading the blurb I wanted to know more about Muse and Jasper, and now that I am done, it did not disappoint! It was a powerful and sizzling read with two characters from different worlds. I was on the edge of my seat, right until the final page!

Muse has a close relationship with her father and when he doesn’t contact her at their scheduled time, she decides to hire someone to track him down. When she meets Jasper, I could see they had an instant attraction to one another and she insists on going with him to find her father. Soon they are road tripping across the country, and the sexual chemistry between them continues to rise!

I really liked Muse; she is definitely an artsy type of person with a kind heart and is loyal to those she trusts. She let Jasper into her heart quickly and it was amusing to see her try and break down his walls. She has been pretty sheltered by her father growing up, so she learnt so much, not only about him but herself that she never would have expected.

I had tears in my eyes just from reading the Prologue. Knowing what Jasper faced as a child broke my heart. I knew that he would grow into a tough guy and would hide his emotions, but I didn’t expect him to go to the extent that he did. There haven’t been many people that he’s cared about, and he has put as much distance as he can between them so they are never harmed. He struggles with Muse because she is making him feel things he thought he never could. He is definitely the tall dark and broody type, but he is also very observant, always watching and taking in everything around him.

When Muse and Jasper get together… let’s just say it was intense and scorching hot! He has always used women to get what he needs before getting out, but he wants Muse so badly that he shows his emotions and takes her passionately. They are so good together, but I could see there were still secrets between them that could shatter what they had.

This book was incredible and I love how Michelle took us into a new aspect of life. We all know this dark side is out there and I thought that Michelle portrayed it well. I enjoyed the suspense, the mystery and the passion that was wrapped up in this addictive story. And getting a glimpse of a few characters from another series of hers was a definite highlight too. There were a few threads left open at the end of the book and I look forward to seeing them continue in the next two books in the series! I am hooked once again!

I really enjoyed this book!  If you are looking for a story with a great looking guy and a strong willed girl that includes a lot of suspense and twists and turns then this is the book for you!

The story starts with Muse an artist who has lost contact with her father and hires Jasper King a bounty hunter to try and find him.   Unknown to Muse there is more to Jasper and this assignment that meets the eye – as they travel together cross country the chemistry between Muse and Jasper escalates to the point were they can’t keep their hands off each other, and they admit it.  As the mystery around Muse’s dad unravels secrets about Muse’s dad, mom and how and why Jasper fits into the whole mix starts to come clear.

I have read a few of M Leighton’s books in the past and I found this one extremely well written.  It’s written in both Jasper and Muse’s POV’s so you get a real understanding of where both characters are at during the course of the story, especially when the story starts to turn.  (The twists and turns I was talking about).  There is a great Easter egg and you run into a few familiar characters from M Leighton’s others books; loved that!

My only issue with the story is that some aspects of the back-story were a little fuzzy for me. Why did Muse leave her father in the first place and how did Jasper find Muse’s friend to set up their introduction; I felt both could have been explained a little bit better.

Muse and Jasper’s love story does not have a cliffhanger but parts of the mystery are still not resolved.  It looks like there will be other books in the Tall Dark and Dangerous series exploring some of the secondary characters we meet in this book.  I am looking forward to reading the next book to find out more about the mystery and I am always ready for a new love story.

**ARC FOR AN HONEST REVIEW**

Holy wow! I was truly blown away by the incredible writing of M. Leighton in her newest novel Strong Enough. The storyline flowed effortlessly and beautifully to create a book so intricately woven, it kept me flipping the pages from the very start.

While this storyline took on a bit more of a darker subject line and male lead than we have seen M. Leighton write recently, the book was fantastic and just what I was looking for. The story starts out with a bang and a prologue that will suck you under. Jasper King our leading male is strong, mysterious and dark. There is no other way to describe him. He doesn't feel for anyone or anything, only caring to do his job. When his job collides with aspects of his past, Jasper is met with a fiery ball of woman in the form of Muse Harper.

Muse is an enigma in and of her own. She's fun, free, strong and determined but most of all she's loyal. Her father is her only family she has left and when he's discovered missing and Muse has no way of finding him, she does the one thing she thinks will.. She hires the illusive bounty hunter Jasper King. The chemistry between these two... Whew. Hot! I could feel the lust and magnetism just radiating off of these two in waves. No matter the effort they put into staying away from each other, it was impossible. The feels, god the feels I felt in this book. My heart ached for Jasper and then for Muse. I felt their anger, their hope, their sorrow, but most of all their passion.

M. Leighton has totally blown this book out of the water. I believe its her best work to date. The story, the writing, the characters all tied so perfectly together. The flow of the story just was incedible. From beginning to end, M. Leighton brought us a story that will captivate and hold you each page you turn! But I would never expect anything less from such a phenomenal author.

This was the first book I read by M. Leighton, and it is now safe to say that I will definitely be reading more of her books in the future! M. Leighton had me addicted to this book from page one. Her superb writing drew me from page one, and it didn't let me go until I finished the book. This book left me craving more, and I cannot wait to see what M. Leighton has in store for this series. This book was a breath of fresh air. It was a dark and action packed story that was completely addictive.

I really liked the male lead in this book, Jasper. He was a mysterious and dangerous man, and I was completely intrigued by his character. I wanted to learn more and more about him. I loved watching him open up to Muse and start to form feelings for her.

Muse was an awesome main character! She was fiercely loyal to everyone she loved, and I really admired that about her. She was a little annoying a times, but she never did anything to make me hater her.

Muse and Jasper had a ton of chemistry right from the start. At first, the romance seemed a little unbelievable. I thought the romance and passion was jumped into a little to quickly. I would have enjoyed the book more if the romance would have been developed at a slower pace. However, the romance was extremely steamy and hot. I enjoyed watching the emotional relationship develop between Muse and Jasper.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book! It was addictive, action packed, and sexy. I cannot wait to read more books in this series. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to read an adult romance!

I am such a huge fan of all things M. Leighton and can't wait to devour anything and everything she writes. That said, I was beyond excited to be able to read Strong Enough, the first book in her new Tall, Dark, and Dangerous series. Once again, Leighton did not disappoint, and has written another exciting, sexy, and gripping story complete with the to die for "tall, dark, and dangerous" Jasper King. He's the hot, mysterious bad boy that makes up the things girls fantasize about, while being the guy most of us would be too scared to even approach in real life. Thank God for talented authors whose writing provides us with the ability to crawl up in a good romance and live vicariously through the characters that come to life in a really great story like this one.

Strong Enough is filled with suspense, danger, action, and yes, the hot romance that Leighton is famous for. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and watching as things progressed between Muse and Jasper. Leighton will have you turning the pages, anxiously waiting to see what is going to happen next, while leaving you sighing, breathless, and fanning your face in between. While Jasper is really dark and really dangerous, Muse is the light that brings all that into balance. His story is heartbreaking. Their story is beautiful. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
