One witch. One dragon king. One arranged marriage. Can they keep things professional?
I use magic to predict weather patterns months in advance. But can I remember when I’m supposed to attend my own wedding? Sadly, no.
When I finally show up two hours late, chattering about thermodynamics, I discover my dragon king husband is gorgeous, intimidating, and completely unprepared for a wife who accidentally creates blizzards whenever he smiles. Raoul Emberforge is all controlled actions and careful distance. I’m a mess in witchy form who forgets to eat when I’m researching atmospheric pressure systems.
Our marriage is supposed to be political, a treaty between witches and dragons to form peace between our people. Except Raoul keeps looking at me like I’m fascinating instead of frustrating. And when he kisses me, we both lose control.
Now we’re racing against time to save a drought-stricken village and cure sneezing dragon hatchlings before the Summit of Scales. But the real crisis? I’m falling for a king who’s spent years building walls around his heart.
If I can’t figure out how to break down his walls, we could lose each other. And that would be the one disaster my magic can’t fix.
Some Like it Scorched is Book 2 in the Witchfully Wed Series and is told in dual point of view. Expect a cozy fantasy world, a matchmaker grandmother, an arranged marriage, slow-burn spice, quirky side characters, a touch-her-and-die, cinnamon roll, dragon shifter hero, a sweet yet strong FMC/heroine, a hound companion with a dry sense of humor, and a HEA.
AVA ROSS fell for men with unusual features when she first watched Star Wars, where alien creatures have gone mainstream. She lives in New England with her husband (who is sadly not an alien, though he is still cute in his own way), her kids, and assorted pets, including a yorkie pup and three cats.
The whole series is so cute. Just peeps falling in love, not lust. The love making is actual lovemaking. The FMC and MMC actually strive to get to know each other, not just their genitals.

Ava Ross's Some Like it Scorched is book 2 of the Witchfully Wed series. Adele is a weather witch who gets so caught up in her computations and theories that she's even late to her own wedding to dragon shifter King Raoul. They agree to maintain a professional marriage which quickly turns to love as they travel to nearby kingdoms whose babies are experiencing respiratory issues. Adele and Raoul discover a recent earthquake has uncovered ancient ice, releasing fumes affecting the babies. By working together, the three kingdoms fix the problem. Love Adele's Bassett hound who is always after snacks!
This was more enjoyable than the first installment but I got yanked out of the story by pretty basic narrative inconsistencies -- the fmc has blonde hair one minute, and then the mmc is staring at her dark hair fanned out over a pillow the next. Please, edit your texts, for all that is holy. Especially if you're going to have your fmc on your cover with *blonde hair*.
❤️ “Love wasn’t in the plan. But it’s the best discovery I’ve ever made.” ~~~ Adele is a weather witch. I loved her brilliant mind and delightfully chaotic personality. Even more, Adele is incredibly kind, nice and compassionate. Yes, she sometimes gets so absorbed in her work that she forgets everything else around her and rarely pays attention to social situations, but that’s just who she is. Nevertheless, I loved that she was always so unapologetically herself. Adele is a wonderful woman and I loved her so, so much!
Raoul is the powerful, gorgeous and utterly irresistible king of the dragons. He’s a male who’s meticulously organized, maintains careful distance from everyone and is always in control. But there’s more to him than meets the eye. Because underneath his stoic facade is a kind, caring, thoughtful, generous, attentive and protective male, who’s lost so much and is now bearing the weight of the responsibility to rule the dragon kingdom. Raoul is an absolutely incredible male and I couldn’t help but adore every single thing about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Adele and Raoul! Their marriage was supposed to be just a political arrangement - a union that would strengthen the realm. But fate (and one very good at matchmaking grandma) had other plans for both of them…
I adored Adele and Raoul together! Their chemistry was incredible from the start and I loved every moment they spent together. I loved the tension, the banters and the longing. I also loved how Adele crashed into Raoul’s carefully ordered life and changed everything. And I adored Raoul for accepting Adele exactly as she was - in all her chaos and brilliance. Even more, despite being quite the opposites, those two were an amazing team, working together to solve problems in the dragon kingdom. Soon, what started as a practical arrangement, became something so much more. And when Adele and Raoul finally gave into the undeniable attraction, the passionate moments they shared were scorching hot and I couldn’t get enough! The dragon king and his chaotic weather witch were absolutely perfect for each other and more than deserved to find happiness and love together!
In addition, the storyline was fantastic! I loved that we got to travel across the dragon kingdom and visit different dragon clans. And with everything happening there, I was glued to the pages till the very end, excited to see how things will be resolved. Furthermore, I absolutely loved Raoul’s sister and Adele’s familiar - those two were the best!
Overall, Some Like It Scorched is another fun, sweet, cozy, adventurous and positively wonderful addition to the series!
I couldn’t put it down and absolutely loved every single page of it!
M/F Sweet, cozy Fantasy Romance Ava Ross can be counted on for solid writing and storytelling that engages the reader. This is a cute world of magical courts and magical beings. Opposites reluctantly attract when a weather magical research obsessed, to the extent of constant distraction, which weds a dragon shifter king via arrangement by her grandmother. So far, book 1 and 2 could hypothetically be read as standalones. However, there is a background over arching plot wherein the matriarch of the witch family, the orchestrater of said arranged marriages, is matching her granddaughters in service/support of a greater magical purpose. But, so far book order isn’t truly relevant yet.
Overall, I would recommend this book/series if you are seeking a cozy, sweet, spicy read, HEA, no cliffhanger.
3.5 because I feel like it could use some editing. It felt like in some places the author was playing around with putting certain confessions and bits of dialogue in different places and it just didn’t get fixed so it was a bit repetitive toward the end and had a few inconsistencies with character descriptions and the pacing felt a little weird probably as a result of that. Every time Adele put her bob length hair in a braid I was picturing little braids connecting like a 2000s hairstyle. Also felt like it got increasingly more difficult to keep track of who was speaking and narrating with this one, I don’t think I had that problem with the last one.
Well this was an interesting read. The scientific side combined with a slow burn love story ticked all the boxes. To feel so at home with someone you just met and work side by side together as equals is refreshing. This beautiful romantic love story gave me goose pimples. The warmth and acceptance for some of you idiosyncrasies is an admirable quality in a partner.
Adele and Raoul are an amazing couple. The heat, passion and respect they share for each other is beautiful.
This was an awesome read Ava and this series is phenomenal! 💜
Some Like It Scorched by Ava Ross is the second installment in the Witchfully Wed series. Adele is a weather witch who gets lost in thermodynamics, while Raoul is a dragon king who just wants to maintain professionalism. However, the chemistry and bond between them is undeniable! This book has it all – an arranged marriage, fate, steam & heat, as well as a little science and detective work, and a whole lot of humor. The side characters are once again wonderful…especially Adele’s canine companion. As always, a must read from Ava Ross.
This was a great follow up to book one and I loved seeing Raoul and Adele work their way to such a wonderful HEA. These two showcase respect, caring and acceptance as they work together as equals. Love this! Expect to get caught up in the romance between a dragon king and his arranged bride, a witch, that's supposed to set up an alliance between their peoples, but so much more blooms between them. It's got lots of heart, humour, some science and detective work, and plenty of love in this slow burn romance. Good fun!
I absolutely loved the story! The author's vivid descriptions of the castles and the dragon realm ignited my imagination. At first, I doubted these two characters—so opposite in every way—but my doubts quickly vanished. They are truly a perfect match. Watching their relationship grow was exhilarating. Their genuine care for each other and their playful denial kept me entertained. Together, they formed an incredible team—two vastly different individuals fitting together seamlessly.
Raoul and Adele's marriage starts as a political treaty, but the sweet and tender moments become a genuine romance built on respect, equality, and trust. Raoul never asks her to change who she is and supports Adele completely and without hesitation—even before he gives in to his feelings. I loved how easily they were able to work together and adored Adele's familiar, Fletcher. This is a fantastic series for anyone looking for romance with both humor and heart!
Very well written, captivating, fun. Great main and side characters. Loved the first book in this series and now this one even more. There are sparks and humor, and a very interesting base story that connects the series. Can not wait for the next book in this series.
I am really enjoying this series! I love these two and how they fall in love. It is a medium burn but they quickly start feeling the special thing between them. I loved the mystery that was needing to be solved and how these two went about it. We love a supportive king (literally).
An arranged marriage between a weather witch and a dragon king is supposed to be a political match and nothing more. But as they work together to solve problems in their kingdom they slowly realize that they have feelings for each other. Fated mate HOA.
What a wonderful read - this is the second book in the Witchfully Wed series, and it does not disappoint. Great characters loved Fletcher!!!!, and the storyline keeps the reader engaged from start to finish.
This book is relatively low on the spice radar, and focuses instead on the developing interactions between the who main characters and how they overcome challenges.
Raoul and Adele Adele is so much fun, She really is a very witchy person and is amazing because off it. Raoul is like a cinamon rol and I just loved reading this book, It made me feel al good inside. As usual this author has given us a fantastic story.
It was great to see this story unfold between two unlikely people. How sweet Raoul was and how he understood and appreciated Adele’s strengths and idiosyncrasies. I highly recommend.
Fabulous opposites-attract paranormal rom-com.. Absolutely loved it!! Sweet, swoony, and funny.. With a helplessly devoted dragon king and an absentmindedly adorable witch.
