No Easy Ending

Rate this book
Earth is changing faster than anyone expected—forests burning, farmland turning to dust, and oceans swallowing coastlines, forcing survivors into overcrowded cities. To keep society from collapsing, the government issues some drastic measures, including a personal death date for everyone, to ration resources and control the population.

Norah, a journalist, learned to accept the policies, even if her death date is only two years away. But everything changes when she is given a personal reason to live longer, and makes a discovery that farming is possible. Norah leads a small group of resisters that want to change the government policies, and most importantly, her death date.

Balancing growing protests, clandestine farmers, and secrets and sacrifices amongst her family and friends, Norah is at her limit. Yet she refuses to back down, determined to continue to push for change—even if there's no guarantee it will be enough in the end.

The book was was imaginative and based on an interesting premise. It would have benefitted from better editing, and the ending felt rushed and too neatly tied up (too easy an ending, pun intended).
It was a quick read, and entertaining.
