Noa Green has spent the last four years of her life living with lupus. She has gotten used to people seeing her wheelchair before they see her. She paints because it’s the only thing lupus didn’t take from her. Her sister and her paintbrush are all she has until fate sends her a former rapper with a tool belt.
JaQuade “Quae Lo” Washington is fresh out of prison, just trying to lay low and stack his paper without the ghost of super stardom past on his back. He thought fading away was the answer until he met a woman who made him want to be seen.
She’s guarded. He’s rebuilding. Neither of them are looking for love, but love meets them in the wreckage, and together, they become pretty little birds.

I think this is A. Blossoms best work to date. I absolutely adored the story. Quade and Noa’s story was so unique, refreshing, and truly inspiring. I loved how the characters both had their “flaws” - that were not truly flaws, but things that were apart of their pasts - that they needed to let go. The way Quade loved on Noa and was her Superman was EVERYTHING! And I loved that Noa didn’t make excuses for herself, she was brave and fierce. Kudos to the author for tackling such a delicate topic. Highly recommended!
What a beautiful story! 🥰 Noa, an accomplished artist, has been dealing with a lupus diagnosis for the past few years. She has become a shell of the person she used to be, as her body continues to betray her. Never really leaving her home, as she hates the pity stares and numerous questions she receives. Painting and her sister Tiegan are all she has in the world. Speaking of her home, it is in dire need of repair, and accommodations need to be made to allow her to move freely in her chair. Noa is proud, stubborn, and determined to make it on her own, until Tiegan forces her hand.
Quade has just been released from prison and trying to find his footing. His life in the spotlight is far behind him, and he wonders who is without it. Getting a construction job with his sister's boyfriend, will be the outlet for him to regroup and find peace in his life again. When he arrives at Noa's home unannounced wearing a mug, she gives him the business. 🤣 He appreciates that although she recognizes him, there are no awkward stares or questions about why he is in construction rather than on stage spitting rhymes. He instantly connects with her soul, as he sees the parallels between the two of them; and wants to help her with her home rebuild.
This was a sweet and heartfelt slow burn. 😍 Noa made Quade feel valuable, needed, worthy, and slowly guided him back to his gift, the music he loved. Quade saw Noa beyond the chair. He saw a beautiful woman, who wanted to be loved, and appreciated for the person she was, and not reduced to the disabled woman in the wheelchair. Both were dealing with life situations that were difficult to navigate, and together they helped the other pivot, guiding the other back to their rightful path, while finding love along the way. Quade was so intentional about the way he cared for and showed up for Noa that I kept a Kool aid smile going throughout this read. Loved it! 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Pretty Little Birds is A. Blossom’s latest release and the beautiful love story of Noa and Quade.
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is what Noa lives with everyday. It’s the disorder that changed her life and her body but not her spirit. Her spirit is strong, creative and loving.
Incarcerated for 8 years and a very public fall from grace is what Quade battles each day. He doesn’t wallow, he just grinds. But like Noa that creativity is not on him, it’s in him.
Please read this beautiful love story because a hard man that’s so tender for you that he falls off the bone is all green flags!! 🕊️💜 This story is so personal to me and I am so grateful for the love, care and accuracy that A. Blossom poured into Noa’s story.
A. Blossom really can write a swoon-worthy romance because this was beyond sweet. If you're looking for an MMC that plays absolutely zero games and knows what he wants from first sight. Look no further than Quade. He was so sweet, and was in tune with Noa from the moment he met her. He stepped into her life determined to love and uplift her, and it was such a pleasure to read. I also felt like the topic of Noa's lupus was handled well. It provided a great look into the life of someone grappling with this diagnosis and the daily struggles someone would go through outside of the symptoms.
Noa and Quaid was everything... Quaid stood ten toes down behind Noa and loved her through every flair up, saw her beyond the chair and loved her through the pain... Shawn got everything he deserved I hated that man with a passion... Blossom took her time writing this beautiful love story and I would definitely read it again
Perfect Contemporary Romance Don't know really what to say about this solid romance but I know I enjoyed what I read. Noa and Quaid were a great couple this book had so many elements I look for in books.
Tropes 🪽Disability rep x the FMC. Noa has Lupus in a serve form. She's immobile or mobility restricted and uses a wheelchair. The entire story is set in motion because her house needs to become wheelchair accessible. While reading I realized I don't really consider the very small minute differences that different-abled people go through to just feel regular or normal in their own spaces. 🪽Disgraced rapper now blue collar MMC. JaQuaid was great character from beginning to end. He was humbled, he stumbled, but he was figuring out grace and how to sit his ego to the side. One amazing thing about Romances are how small little coincidences shape the narrative and lead to radically different outcomes. Quaid is lucky that his older sister is with a man who owns his own construction business. Quaid just so happens to have earned his carpentry certifications while incarcerated. We also learn about shady music business and 360 deals and how music moguls can deserve lives for years. 🪽Art rep was nice! Quaid's 16 year old nephew being into art was a nice change of scenery. Noa being an artist by trade and us "seeing" her art 🪽Ain't shit ex. Noa had a bum she couldn't let go. Watching her journey was about watching her rebuild her acceptance for self and release all of the heavy baggage. To see the ways the ex plays into her character conflict was good foil to seeing how amazing Quaid is for the romance. 🪽Slow burn romance. These two really do circle each other quickly but it's a little bit of a slow dance. Even though the burn was slow the overall story pacing wasn't. There was already a pull there and lucky us we got to see how that small pull developed into a romance. Quaid was courting and didn't even know it. Just by being himself he was showing Noa she could let down her walls and lean into him.
Overall: I gave 4 stars because even though I enjoyed the romance so much, it was just love on top of love all up in through here, it also didn't pop on a deeper level for me. I loved this book but I don't know if I'll re-read or if it'll stay on my mental. I'm so glad I got to experience them and see this romance. I'm excited to read more of A Blossom's world
Noa was confined to a wheelchair due to her chronic illness and because of this she doesn't want to go out much and people see her for her chair and not her as a person. When JaQuade first met her there was something about her that drew her to him and made him want to vouch for helping to get her home to a better environment for her to maneuver her chair in. They both saw the other for who they were and not their situation which was appreciated on both fronts because he was a former rapper now working construction.
JaQuade knew he wanted to get to know her on more than just being the one to fix her home and after there first "date" and moving on to being intimate with each other it was on from there. I liked how he wanted to do for her and help her out not out pity but out of care and how he looked up her illness to know how he could monitor it and give her what she needed when she needed it. I also liked how he pushed her to get back into her love of art and put herself back out there with her work. I liked how she convinced him to give music a go again even though he was hesitant at first she was like his muse to help him get back out there with the right people on his corner.
I really enjoyed the two of them together and how JaQuade really loved on Noa. It was like when you know you know. The spice scenes were definitely spicy too and I liked how A. Blossom showed that just because you may be battling something like a chronic illness you can't let it define you and you can still live your life.
This love story is a tearjerker in the most beautiful way. We have Noa, an artist living with a chronic illness that limits her mobility and makes her cautious and withdrawn. And Quade, a former rapper freshly out of prison, trying to lay low and start over. Both are damaged, but they find beauty, strength, and healing in one another. There’s constant pouring into each other...deep, tender moments that gave me butterflies throughout the entire book. But it’s more than just a love story. It’s a reminder to never accept crumbs from anyone, to honor your worth, and know you're not defined by your challenges. Love those who love on you and don’t settle for less. 💖
What a beautiful loving realistic love story. She saw the handsome man that came to her home to renovate. He saw a very beautiful woman who awakened his loins. She’s a recluse. He’s fresh from prison determined to leave his old life and fame in the past. Together they encouraged the other to pursue their passions but with the support and people who only want the best for them. I love how deeply they cared for one another like they’d loved for years. Blossom brought this story together so sweetly it’s unforgettable. Oh, did I mention that Noa is in a wheelchair? Doesn’t bother Quade one bit. Get at this y’all! Fantastic!!
I was honestly pleasantly surprised by this book. I really loved JaQuade and Noa together. The disability representation was done so well — Noa isn't paralyzed but is navigating life with lupus, which then has her in a wheelchair. I loved how they both had big dreams and were living them before life flipped everything upside down — his music, her art — and how trauma changed the way they showed up in the world. The love story felt soft but heavy at the same time, and nothing felt rushed or forced. Everything came together perfectly in the end.
First of all, I really like the disability representation that this book has. Although I don't have lupus so for the accuracy please consult a person who has it or someone who's a expert on it.
Never met a Quade (Quaid) I didn’t like! This was such a sweet romance between two “broken” people. There was an instant connection and I loved watching it evolve. Noa and Quade both encouraged each other to stop hiding behind their circumstances and get back to living their dreams. And that’s what love is about…mutual support, encouragement, and wanting to be a better version of yourself for your partner. I enjoyed the side characters as well. And there was even a little smidgen of drama in it here (just a smidge and not between the couple). Again, this was just a feel good romance.
4.5 ⭐️ Wow!! This was so good. I’ve never read anything like it but how beautiful this was!
I’ve never seen representation like this in a book and it feels like it was PERFECTLY done. There was no unrealistic fairytale stuff which I so appreciated. This was love before it was even love.
I feel like this was a “second chance” romance in a whole new way.
Some love stories don’t begin with fireworks — they begin with healing.
Noa is an artist whose world has been painfully narrowed by lupus. Once vibrant and full of color, her life is now framed by doctor visits, a wheelchair, and the quiet fear of being seen as fragile instead of whole. With her younger sister Teagan as her fierce protector and caregiver, Noa is surviving — but she isn’t truly living. Her home needs repairs to match her new reality, but her heart needs even more work than the house.
Enter JaQuade “Quade Lo” — a name that once ruled the charts, now whispered with scandal. Fresh out of a seven-year bid for manslaughter, Quade is no longer chasing fame. He’s trying to rebuild himself from the ground up, one honest day of work at Northside Construction with his brother-in-law Ron. He’s learned the hard way that second chances aren’t handed out — they’re earned.
When Quade shows up for Noa’s home consultation, sparks fly in the most unexpected way. Their banter is easy, their connection undeniable, but both carry heavy pasts that make them hesitant to reach for something real. Noa is afraid of being a burden. Quade is afraid of being judged as the man he used to be.
Together, they learn that broken doesn’t mean finished.
This story is tender, raw, and full of soul. It explores disability, redemption, and the courage it takes to be vulnerable when life has already knocked you down. Pretty Little Birds is a beautiful reminder that even after the darkest chapters, love can still teach you how to soar.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½ Vibe: Healing love, urban redemption, emotional slow burn Perfect for readers who love: wounded souls, second chances, and love stories with depth and heart
OMG!!! What a book!!! When I tell you I’m at a loss for words on what to say!! Whew Chile, Ms. Blossom did the damned thang with this one. This book is a masterpiece. It’s serious, sweet, sensual and emotional. I experienced all the feels while going on this journey to love with Noa and Quade.
Noa is a woman with lupus. She is confined to a wheelchair as a result of her illness and she needs modifications to her home. Quade works for the construction company assigned to fix Noa’s home. Quade is starting over after being released from prison. He was a popular rapper before and Noa recognizes him. She doesn’t make a big deal of it. In fact, she’s very sassy with him and he likes that. Quade also noticed Noa and doesn’t focus much on her wheelchair. As he is fixing her home, he gets to know her. They realize that they are just two people who are trying to regroup after life dealt them a bad hand. They encourage each other and just love each other. They heal the parts of each other that were a bit broken. They are just perfect together.
This book is phenomenal. I loved every moment that I spent with Noa and Quade. I have a total book hangover and I know I’ll definitely reread this book. Kudos to A. Blossom for a job well done. 5 phenomenal and gloriously hot stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a beautiful, heartfelt story that is tender, emotional, and wonderfully written. Pretty Little Birds introduces us to Noa, a woman bound to a wheelchair after her battle with lupus, and Quade, a former rapper freshly released from prison. When Quade comes to assess Noa’s home for handicap accessible upgrades, neither of them expects the connection that sparks between them, but it is impossible to ignore.
There is a magnetic pull between these two wounded souls. Quade is trying to rebuild his life, and Noa is learning how to reclaim hers. What begins as a simple professional visit turns into something deeply intimate and life changing. Their love story is not perfect, but that is what makes it so powerful. It feels real, raw, and full of heart.
Watching Noa begin to believe in herself again, to dream and to fly even with broken wings, is incredibly moving. Quade’s steady, patient love gives her the space to heal while he finds his own redemption along the way.
This book is about more than romance. It is about resilience, second chances, and learning how to love when life has already bruised you. Pretty Little Birds is a beautiful reminder that even when you have been through the worst, love can still lift you higher than you ever imagined.
Quade and Noa had gone through a lot in their lives. Quade was a popular rapper who went to jail for seven years for attempted murder, and Noa was diagnosed with lupus at the height of her art career leaving her in a wheelchair. Since Noa needs her house refitted, and Quade is now working with a construction company who rehabs homes for the disabled, they connect through that. Quade is intrigued by Noa from the beginning. I loved how supportive he was of Noa, and how he looked past the wheelchair and saw Noa for herself. Noa was going through a period of emotional abuse due to her jacka$$ of a so-called boyfriend, but Quade was intentional in how he handled Noa. This was a beautiful love story of two broken souls who found each other and made each other whole again. I thoroughly enjoyed this highly emotional book. You could tell that it was very personal to the author. Characters from previous books, the drama, the revenge and the passion between Quade and Noa made this book that I recommend you read as well.
This is a beautiful and encouraging story for anyone with a chronic illness really. The character development throughout the book was well written and allowed you to connect with them on a deeper level. This book tells the story of 2 different artist going through changes after their lives took unexpected turns and they never saw themselves truly opening backup the world around them again. “That’s pretty little bird. Damaged, but still beautiful. Broken, but still able to fly.” is such a powerful line from the book because it reminds you that no matter what may happens in life and how broken you feel you are still beautiful through it all, but with the right support you can not only live again but thrive better than you ever have before. The disability representation was also beautifully written and tastefully written. Love love loved every single page of this book, amazing job well done Ms. Author Lady.
From the beautiful cover art to the care that the author took to detail what a person with Lupus can go through on a daily basis, this book seemed so thoughtful and intentional and also had an educational factor too. Noa and Quade were a very unlikely pair, but in this fictional world they blended so well together. From day one, he stood firmly on all ten toes about her and I absolutely loved the complete care he took of her. I loved how their lives were restored in so many ways - and how they overcame so much together.
As a fully able-bodied person without any chronic illness or ailments of any kind, I am almost ashamed that I never even thought about how a person who does has such would still desire romantic love and intimate touch from another person or how a person without a disability could still truly desire one with a disability. This book educated me, and I am forever changed because of it. Job well done Ms. Blossom!
This kept me engaged from beginning to end. Noa has Lupus and is in a wheelchair because of it. Quade is a rapper who just got released from prison after doing 7 years and is now working for a construction company that renovates homes to make them more accessible for people with disabilities. The banter between Noa and Quade, the instant attraction, is just too cute and had me smiling while reading the entire time. Both of them needed someone to push them to get back into their creative space and they did it for each other. Quade never let Noa being in a wheelchair stop him from loving, caring, and showing up. This book had me in my feelings but in a good way. Such a great read. “Pretty Little Bird (n.) A soul once caged by pain, still daring to be heard. Bruised but soft. Delicate in ways the world has deemed weak, yet brave enough to fly, anyway. A soul not waiting to be saved, but learning to fly with broken wings”
This was so good! The character growth, emotions, and overall story were done beautifully. I loved how Quade left to start a new life, not even planning to rap again, and instead found solid work in construction — which led him to Noa, who absolutely shined like the sun to him.
Noa has been living with lupus for four years and finally decides to adjust her home to fit her needs, which is how she meets Quade. Watching them help each other grow and realize they both deserve good things in life was really touching. It showed that the right person sees beyond the surface and understands what truly matters.
I especially appreciated how the disability was written. The lupus wasn’t just mentioned and forgotten — it was real, present, and shaped Noa’s daily life in an authentic way, which made the story feel grounded and meaningful.
By reading the synopsis I was hooked in from learning that the fmc has lupus. I love reading books where there is awareness about what people face in reality regarding physical ailments. Lupus is a autoimmune condition that many people are not aware and how plaguing it can be on the person has it. A. Blossom did an amazing job highlights the day to day aspect of the fmc, Noa, having Lupus. Noa was just to be strong, have only person helping her with her condition, which was her sister, Teagan, but when JaQuade came into her life, everything changed for the better. I loved Quade so much there nothing about him that I could complain about. He was sweet on Noa the first time he laid eyes on her. The fact he didn't even tell he paid to get her house remodeled surprised me, but you Noa deserved everything and more.
This book was a gem. Noa and Quade we're a treat, and just one of those books you didn't want to end. A. Blossom really did her big one with this book. You get two characters who are fighting something but come together almost effortlessly. It was as if the universe knew they were exactly what each other needed when they met. Shawn and Quade's former label manager or whatever were both trash. I love how supportive their tribe was and how everyone important didn't treat Noa like someone who needed to be "handled" because of her illness. Quade, that was an example of a man. It was like her saw the light in Noa and he just wanted to live in that life. Pick this book up immediately because you will not be disappointed. I can already see myself reading this book again. Happy Reading Y'all!💋
This was definitely sweet and a feel good story. It was heart warming and different. I usually don’t read books where a character has a disability but I do like when the MMC just got out of prison and makes a life for himself.
Gonna start with Teagan. Initially she worked my last nerve. She was overbearing and the way she questioned Quade and told her sisters business had me so annoyed with her. Noa was sweet and a good girl who deserved better than a bag of fast food, sex, and inconsistency. Shawn was garbage in every sense of the word. I really thought he set Noa’s house on fire. Quade came in and got straight to business! He didn’t play about Noa and put her and her needs first from day one. Love how things fell into place for him too. Again! This was just a feel good story.
I loved every single page of this book. It was so relatable, having an autoimmune disease. I felt seen. Heard. Well displayed. It's so much we go through that looks like nothing to others but literally effects our lives every moment of the day. This was a great show of that struggle and hopefully with the awareness, people will have more compassion and be a little more courteous. Quade was everything. His story was also extremely relatable and I loved how his struggles didn't define him and he could be an inspiration to Noa even if he didn't realize. The drama was great too and the main side characters were everything. Well, except Shawn. He can eat dust. One of my favorite reads thus far this year.
