(This is a serialized novel -- see Author Note at bottom of blurb)
Benie Dilian hunts supernatural bad guys. Her ability to shift like a chameleon, to hide in plain sight, as well as her enhanced senses, makes her the ultimate killing machine. The only person in her life that she remotely trusts is her genius best friend--Ian Arent.
After a dangerous supernatural tracker attacks Ian, turning the human into a shapeshifter, Benie must not only find out who is behind the attack that nearly killed her best friend, but also find a way to help Ian deal with his new reality. She enlists the help of telepathic werewolf Trace Calder, a supe who specializes in mediation with the "other worlders."
As Benie fights her intense attraction to both men, she knows she has more to worry about than losing her heart and soul. Soon, she finds out that the attack on Ian is only the beginning of a journey fraught with danger and dark truths--and a prophecy that promises Benie a destiny she never wanted.
***Authors Note: Please be aware that Midnight Shift (Episode One) is the first episode in a hot new Shapeshifter/ Paranormal Romance Ménage serialized novel. This is part ONE of a FIVE part serialized story. In other words, it is episodic, contains cliff hangers, and is not a stand-alone story. It is meant to be read in order of its parts. It does contain explicit M/F/M scenes and is intended for an adult audience.
About Renee: USA Today Bestselling author Renee George writes paranormal mysteries and romances because she loves all things whodunit, Otherworldly, and weird. Also, she wishes her pittie, the adorable Kona Princess Warrior, and her beagle, Josie the Incontinent Princess, could talk. Or at least be more like Scooby-Doo and help her unmask villains at the haunted house up the street.
When she’s not writing about mystery-solving werecougars or the adventures of a hapless psychic living among shapeshifters, she is preyed upon by stray kittens who end up living in her house because she can't say no to those sweet, furry faces. (Someone stop telling them where she lives!)
She resides in Mid-Missouri with her family and spends her non-writing time doing really cool stuff...like watching TV and cleaning up dog poop.
Author Note: For readers who have enjoyed reading my books and taken the time to share their love in reviews, thank you so much! I can't tell you how much it means to me to know my work is valued.
Renee George does it again. A great start to a serial that captivates with each unique twist and leaves you wanting more!
Episode one introduces us to several characters. Benie isn't a hunter; she's an executioner with a unique issue. Her best friend, and roommate, Ian is trying to help her with that issue. Trace is an expert in his field; someone that Ian sends Benie to as they try to discern what is going on.
Together, they try to ignore the sparks that fly between them, each attempting to mute them while they fight to discover who is sending trackers after Benie!
I cannot wait for the next installment to come out so we can find out what happens next!
*** I orginally received a free copy from the Author in exchange for a Honest Review. I enjoyed the read so much that I ordered the Book.***
Having read this author before, many times, I knew the book would be good, great even! My question was truthfully just how much of a cliffhanger was there going to be? Well I found out! This is one hot and enticing book! The primary characters have distinctive personalities and are totally relatable and understandable, as in why they do the things they do or say the things they say. Among many things that is one thing that always sticks with me when I read Renee's books, the characters, their personalities, their life styles. The next thing that sticks with me is the natural progression of the story line, regardless of what the plot is. It's never forced or jagged or rough it flows smoothly while moving fast but not so fast that you can't keep track of what's going on or of who is doing who, :D , and it's never slow. The final thing, at least for me, are the hot intimate scenes and the ones in this book are HOT! Benie, Ian and Trace are the main characters and I am fully invested in learning what becomes of them as this series progresses. Benie is a kick-ass female who typically shoots first then maybe will ask some questions later. With a rough background, including being accused of killing her parents, her best friend Ian seems to be a stabilizing and integral part of her life. She has feeling for him that go behind the best friends forever mentally but is afraid of messing things up between the two of them and he has never shown in any interest in her in that way, at all. Ian is a scienctist who while being Benie's best friend, confidant and care-taker also has very strong feelings for her that have only grown with time. But he seems to have at least one secret that Benie doesn't know and that Ian doesn't want her know, at least not yet. Trace an other worlder, or OW as they are called, who passes for human and to whom Ian sent Benie to for help in finding out about a recent attack, is revealed to be a Telepath, among other things, and something happens between the two of them right before yet another attack. All that can really be said is this, You have GOT to read this book!!! You will not regret it, well maybe having to wait for the next one but aside from that....... :D <3
*This book was provided by the author for a honest review.
Episode one is toooooooooo short for me, but thank the goddesses in every pantheons all over the world that I have episode two. Phew because regardless if I abhor cliffhangers, this one was honestly worth it! Have you ever found an author that kept you guessing and kept you totally engrossed to your eReader? Well Renee George is one of those such gems! I am thrilled to have read her books!!
Benie (short for Benico) is a slayer, but not your typical slayer like Buffey or like Cat from the Night Huntress series. She has her own agenda! KILL THEM ALL, her discriminating taste even defies logic since she is an other world-er herself. She is smart, witty, tough as nails and sexy as hell so watch out bad guys she is coming.
The sexual tension and actual sex in the book doesn't overshadow the story and the awesome plot. Since it's a short, I applaud the way she gives a peek into this new world. Renee George is a true talent!! I stood up on my bed and cheered for Benie during one of the fight scenes. Call me crazy but I am totally hooked!!
Disclaimer: Since this is a serial short, please be aware that you need to read the books in order. If I were you make sure you download book 2 when you read book 1.
I tip my hat to you, and would totally do a running side kick if I had enough room in my house!

I absolutely love it! Renee George has demonstrated her amazing talent with yet another exciting new series, Midnight Shift. The story is original, action packed, exciting, thrilling, riveting, arousing and steamy. The dialog is smart and well written. The characters are imaginative, fascinating and sexy. Benoica Dilian is a hunter - a slayer. She hunts and kills monsters - otherworlders. Unfortunately, be it a gift or a curse, she is also one of them - a chameleon able to change her body's appearance enabling her to effectively conceal herself. Benie is definitely very good at her job, maybe too good, because now someone or something wants her dead and they are sending rogue trackers to kill her. She needs all the help she can get to stay alive including help from her cute, genius, best friend scientist and roommate, Ian Arent and hunky telepath and clairvoyant human passer, Trace Calder. And she has the hots for both! Oh my! Buckle up my lovelies! It looks like we're in for another very thrilling ride! I can hardly wait for part two!
Unique New Story Line with Lots of Heat and Intrigue.
Brilliant beginning for what promises to be an outstanding new paranormal menage? The first episode only hints that Benie, Ian, and maybe Trace will be a trio. Either way this book rocks and I can’t wait to read Episode Two. Since it’s out. I’m off to read it now! :)
Intriguing story. Benie kick's butt and changes colors to match her surroundings. How cool is that! Ian is the sexy, genius childhood friend/lover, and Trace. Is luscious on a stick. He reads minds and is has a way with swords.
I was given this ARC in return for an honest review. What a new concept this book is! You have all the right elements in it, one hell of a badass heroine, a geek who's her love interest and best friend and all the characters she meets on the way, who I'm sure we'll see more of as we go along. The story flowed, kept me interested and wanting more. This is the first part so I am positive it will only get better. Can't wait to read what comes next.
Bernie is a female executioner to the bad guy's who are supernatural. But lately she's been having her own problems keeping her chameleon shape stable. Her best friend, Ian Ph D. Is trying to help her. Send her to a shrink he knows. And it just might help, but then she finds out he's a other. Her upbringing makes her not trust and Others. And then there is that spark between her and Ian. Well written and very entertaining to read.
This is a series book but can't find book two even though it seems like this entire book has been published before. Yikes, not sure where the confusion is. I enjoyed the first part entirely. Which man is for Benie? I can't decide but I like both of them. Each man plays an important part in her life. Time will tell. Can't wait.
This is my first read by this author and loved it. This book is fast paced and has taken me on a roller coaster ride of emotions from the beginning. I loved the interactions between Benie and Ian an Benie and Trace and made me hungry for the upcoming episodes
Not if the author wishes me to buy. Exciting and engaging, lusty and eventful, battles with gusto, but (forgive the graphic analogy) it's like masturbating when what you really want is a night filled with lots of sex and numerous mind blowing orgasms. All this story contained was rushed everything. Not going to read the series. You have talent, dear author, but put it all in one book...THEN I'll buy it.
This is a review for episode 1-4. I have literally just fallen in love with this authors serials. They are just so hot and yummy. This one is about a girl that finds out on top of her already crazy powers she has come into new powers and two new guys. It was just a good serial and I want part 5 already.
So far this series seems promising. I like the writing style and the take-charge attitude of the female MC but somehow things felt very rushed to me - especially the sexy times. I did laugh out loud at some parts so that's why it should be bumped up to 3.5 stars instead of 3. I'll still read the next part since I feel like this is possibly going somewhere great!
This book is about a non human that fights other non humans to protect the human race, she was accused of murdering her parents and spent time behind bars. She only trusts one person her scientist best friend.
A truly Wow, this book really had some juice to it. Really enjoyed the read and the interactions between the characters. A good storyline and a healthy mix of erotica made Midnight Shift a enjoyable read.
