Yasuo's backstory closes out and it truly touches (and slightly breaks) my heart. I'm so happy that he's been put in a better place where he can actually help the cats that he loves, living in a fulfilled, safe, and happy manner. Even though he's so young, he's been through so much. I find him to be such a compelling and touching character.

(On a light-hearted note, I also thought the chapter about getting used to waking up to a cat butt in your face so relatable. My cat sleeps with her butt facing me all the time, so once again, this series gets major points for relatability. XD)

The chapter about Amelie and Koma becoming close absolutely killed me... just like Koma needs and wants a mommy's protection, Amelie also sees her babies that she lost in Koma. It was really scream-and-cry worthy and so cute and painful. It made me so happy and sad all at once.

We're also starting a new arc...! I truly fear the gang getting adopted and being separated, though I suppose that's a good-case scenario, isn't it...!? It's still painful to think about from a story point of view, though!!
I'm excited for and nervous about the next volume!! I hope Hachi will be alright and join everybody soon!!!

Cute!!! I've really enjoyed reading this manga so far, especially because at the minute I relate to the kitties with their space being disrupted and changed (currently getting a new bathroom, lots of strangers in my house and it's stressful), so this manga has been very comforting. I really enjoy seeing all of the different cats bond with each other and the humans, especially Yasuo and Uta.

This was another nice installment of the series. I still love how Yuri Sonoda can get us the readers into the headspace of cats and people who care for cats with this story. I think the thing that stuck out to me most in volume 5 is one the stuff concerning what all goes into caring for kittens who lose their mother too early if they are to survive and learn how to be a cat, and also the page about what a cat’s ear positions can tell about their feelings or what they want. I also like the enthusiasm and dedication of the workers/volunteers at the cat shelter whenever a cat or kitten shows improvement of any kind. It’s pretty sweet and heart warming. The moment a female stray who lost her kittens started grooming a stray kitten who snuggled up to her was pretty heartwarming too. And the part where the humans think cats’ lives are so tragic while cats think the humans lives are so difficult is kinda funny. Yasuo’s awkwardness too when he has to confront a kid and his Mother at the cat cafe after the kid is a little too rough with Maruru is relatable to me at least on the working with the public thing. All in all another satisfactory installment of Cat Companions and I can’t wait to get into volume 6.

Yet again i absolutely loved reading this ! I’m getting more and more attached to the new characters, mostly because we learn more about their personalities in this book. Knowing how Yasuo’s story at the shelter started really surprised me, I really didn’t expect him to defend his point so confidently considering his personality, but it does make sense considering his love and dedications for cats, which I share of course. Hachi getting left behind absolutely broke my heart, this poor little guy has been through so much, and now that he finally could relax and enjoy his life with his friends it all got taken away. I really hope they’ll be reunited soon, I’m both excited and scared for the next book because it’s the last and i don’t know if a 7th one will ever come out, i hope so because i’m addicted now !

This series breaks my heart every time and I love that we get stories from both the human and cat point of view! Little Koma finally snuggling up to Amelie is so sweet and I feel bad for Hachi not getting to go to the cafe but he is a biter. Hachi wants to be loved but refuses to admit it.

I loved getting to know more about Yasuo’s backstory and how long his love of cats has gone on.

Also, the amount of things I learn about cats, especially kittens, surprises me each time.

I was heartbroken by Hachi getting left behind and am demanding he gets reunited with Maruru and his friends! I get why they did what they did, but they’re totally bonded!!

Overall, obviously counting down until I get the next volume!
