What if Robin Hood was still around, humbling the rich and evening the score? The immortal Lord of the Greenwood calls upon his merry men when evil needs to be checked, and he burns with the need to bring the wealthy to heel, particularly billionaire Leander de Lisle….

John Naylor—Little John—has been Rob’s right hand for centuries, and in return, Rob has sustained him far beyond what John’s werewolf nature would enjoy. When Rob calls him from the Greenwood, John comes, and when Rob tells him they must steal the Belle Etoile diamond before de Lisle can get ahold of it, John’s down for the heist.

The game gets more complicated when Marcus gets involved.

Marcus Collins, a 21st century werewolf with some serious baggage, is barely treading water. He betrayed someone important, and while they’ve sorta made up, it’s not the same. Helping Rob—who’s apparently the real Robin Hood—take down a billionaire gives him a focus he desperately needs.

Getting close to John would help him deal with some equally important needs.
But John’s buried too many lovers over the course of his long life, so his heart can’t bear to get close to Marcus, despite the heavy temptation. The young werewolf might be damaged goods, but he knows what he wants, and his best chance of getting it is to assist the merry men when they invade the home of an uber-powerful vampire and steal a priceless diamond.

One way or another he’ll overcome John’s resistance, assuming any of them come out of it alive.

Stolen is the first book in Soulmates: City of Angel series, a spinoff from the popular Soulmates series by Liv Rancourt. David, Trajan, and Connor make their presence known, but this is Marcus’s and John’s story. They’ll get their HEA, but Rob’s battle with Leander de Lisle will continue for two more books. Happy reading!

I went into Stolen (Soulmates City of Angels Book 1) expecting a fun paranormal twist on Robin Hood and ended up getting a whole supernatural heist crew with tension, politics, and just enough emotional damage to keep me invested.

This is Robin Hood like you have never seen him. Immortal, strategic, surrounded by a chaotic mix of werewolves, vampires, and other supernatural heavy hitters, all operating in a modern world that feels layered and alive. The concept alone is a hook, but what really carries the story is the dynamic between John and Marcus.

John is carrying centuries of grief and restraint, the kind that makes you understand why he holds back even when you want to scream at him to just give in already. Marcus is younger, raw, and trying to figure himself out while also navigating feelings that are very much not simple. Their relationship is slow burn in the most intentional way, emotional, hesitant, and honestly a little painful in a good way.

The plot leans into heist energy with a supernatural edge, and it gives very “found family but make it dangerous.” The pacing does wobble a bit at times, especially with how much worldbuilding is being introduced, and there are moments where I wanted just a little more clarity or depth. But the tradeoff is a story that feels like the start of something bigger.

This definitely reads like a series opener. There are threads left open, relationships still forming, and a world that is only just getting started. If you are someone who loves paranormal romance with action, tension, and a slow build connection, this is going to hit.

Tropes:
✨ Paranormal romance
🐺 Werewolf x werewolf
🖤 Slow burn
🗡️ Found family
💎 Heist plot
⚡ Supernatural politics
🕰️ Age gap
🔥 Emotional restraint vs longing

Who should read this:
If you love supernatural crews, morally gray dynamics, and romance that builds instead of rushing, this is for you. Especially if you are here for tension over instant gratification.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

An immortal Robin Hood with werewolf merrymen? Ohhh, yeahhhh. There have been so many movies and series. The Robin Hood who "doesn't have an American accent" (courtesy Mel Brooks). The one with an American accent (Kevin Costner). Disney made him a fox. HBO created a dreamy series, all soft colors, with a fey, ethereal, Robin and Clannad's haunting music.
"Stolen" is the story of John Naylor, werewolf and still, after eight hundred years, the hooded man's second in command. Marcus Collins, age 21, is a very new werewolf. The age gap is insurmountable according to John. He's not immortal, but Robin has extended his life, and he's buried and mourned for several lovers during that time. Marcus ignores the age gap and near immortality. He has his own issues, but wants a relationship with John.
Their target is an evil billionaire, Leander de Lisle. Robin and his men need to steal a gem, the Belle Etoile diamond before he does. And if they can drain his accounts, so much the better.
This is set in the same universe as the original Soulmates series, so we'll see lots of magical peoples. The worldbuild is heavy with supernatural politics and Mission:Impossible paced action.
There are a lot of plotlines left dangling at story's end. We'll see more of Leander de Lisle as he fills the Sheriff of Nottingwood role, although he would say Prince John. Marcus and John have a very tentative relationship developing, on the road to HFN. In the afterword, the author promises to get back to them, but book two will feature new MCs.
I received an advanced copy of this ebook and this is my review.

I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical about this paranormal retelling of Robin Hood, but I ended up having a great time reading it.

In Rancourt's recasting, Robin and his merry men are all supernatural creatures, each with various abilities, with vampires, werewolves, elves and fae in the mix. It makes for quite the motley crew and though it shouldn't work, for some reason it does. I particularly liked the echoes of classic caper films and an "Ocean's 11" pacing and feel.

John, Robin's second in command and alpha werewolf, finds himself drawn to Marcus Collins, a young werewolf with a painful past, but holds himself back from getting emotionally involved with him. The reasons are believable and interesting, as are Marcus' fears and self-doubts. Their courtship is entertaining but the ultimate in slow burn. I wished for a bit more of a happy ending for the two of them at the end but the plot precluded that, unfortunately, leaving room for a happy for now type of ending.

One thing that I found entertaining about the book is the declaration that each age in history has a fight between good and evil, with many of the same characters on both sides still in play after centuries. It's a fun extrapolation, particularly with the villain's turn in today's society. There's also an interesting twist at the end, so I'm intrigued to see where Rancourt's going with this story.

I’m a huge fan of anything Robin Hood and loved this paranormal take. The characters are intriguing, and I loved the friendships and tension between them. After all, the stories are just stories, right? I’m already hanging out for book 2.

I loved how different John and Marcus are, yet are both dealing with their paths. John has lost so many lovers and doesn’t want to lose a part of his heart again, while Marcus regrets past decisions which has left him with physical and emotional scars. I enjoyed the two steps forward and back between them, and how they get to know each other. I loved that John crochets to keep his hands busy.

I’m looking forward to learning more about the other characters, especially given their long histories of working together, and the mix of different supernaturals. The action scenes move at a decent pace, and create suspense, especially with the revelation towards the end. I liked that, although these guys have centuries of experience, everything is not without risk or easy.

More please.

3.75/5. I had issues with the pacing and the confusing abundance-yet-lack of information. I really, really wanted to be smitten with the world and characters, but I felt like I was missing something. Then I remembered that it’s a spin-off, and that helped, but not completely. I’m going to go back and read the parent series and then reread this book. Is that ridiculous? Probably, but I really was into the idea of everything. I just want to see if the love is really there or if it’s not for me. I have a feeling it’s definitely gonna be up my alley, I just have to do some homework to get there. If you haven’t read the parent series I highly suggest you do before you start this one. Seriously. Prior reading is a requirement. If you did, for sure pick this one up and dive in.

A fantastic, paranormal retelling of the Robin Hood legend that works brilliantly! I really love the way how Liv Rancourt reimagines the characters with depth, wit and more than a whisper of Greenwood magic and mythology.
The supernatural Merry Men are gathered in modern-day LA to take down the latest re-incarnation of the Sheriff of Nottingham, a power-mad billionaire via a diamond heist. And that's when the ancient power that is John Naylor (Little John) meets conscience-stricken young werewolf, Marcus, and tries his best not to fall in love.
This is a thrill-ride of a read with suspense, romance, action and character backstories woven seamlessly into the mix. I loved the entire premise, was cheering on John and Marcus for their HEA and I cannot wait for the next adventure in the series!

This was an interesting, if somewhat confusing, start to Liv’s newest series. I actually read it through, then went back and read the first in the previous, related series (Soulmates), then came back and reread Stolen. After that, the dynamics between Marcus and his cousin David made a bit more sense to me. Can Stolen be read as a stand alone? Yes. But I think reading the other series first really enhances it.
We meet Robin Hood and his Merry Band, back from the Greenwood and ready to do battle with someone who sounds awfully familiar. There’s a jewel to be stolen, innocents to be rescued, and a couple wolves to recognize their mates. This is a pretty good caper, complete with an interesting gang, and I am in hopes the next installment will be even more action-packed and thrilling.

Absolutely loved Stolen by Liv Rancourt. So used to traditional fairy tale retellings this was a fresh and imaginative twist on the legend of Robin Hood, bringing it into a modern, paranormal setting with plenty of action and emotional depth.

The concept alone is a strong hook, an immortal Robin Hood leading his band into present-day battles against the powerful but it’s the execution that really makes it engaging. The mix of heist elements, supernatural politics, and high-stakes conflict keeps the pace moving, while still leaving room for character development.

John and Marcus are at the heart of the story, and their dynamic adds a layer of vulnerability beneath all the action. John’s long life and emotional guard contrast nicely with Marcus’s more immediate struggles, creating a relationship that feels both complicated and compelling as it develops.

The world-building is another highlight, weaving together werewolves, vampires, and long-standing alliances in a way that feels expansive without becoming overwhelming. There’s a clear sense that this is just the beginning of a larger story.

What an exciting series opener blending mythology, romance, and action into a fast-paced and entertaining read, leaving us avidly awaiting the next book!

Robin Hood with a modern twist

This is a super modern day twist to the Robin Hood saga. When werewolf shifter Marcus awakes after a night of running in his wolf form, he is near John (little, or not so little)! John wants nothing to do with Marcus, but Robin has other ideas. Marcus is asked to bring his IT skills to the fore as he helps another of Robin's merry men (Sonny, the vampire), hack into their arch nemesis' life.

Sounds a long way from Sherwood Forest, but taking from the rich to give to the poor is still the tenet by which they live.

This is the first book of Soulmates:City of Angels and I'm eagerly waiting for Wrecked, the second book to be published later this year.

Stolen is the first book in the Soulmates City of Angels series. This is the story of John and Marcus. The blurb is what drew me to wanting to read this book. I loved the concept of a paranormal Robinhood and his merry men having lived to the present day. I couldn't put this book down once I started it. This was an amazing story with interesting characters and world building. I enjoyed watching John and Marcus work to become a couple and build a relationship. There is plenty of action and enough steam to keep things interesting. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book.

Oh wow. I have read a few retellings of Robin Hood but this version is easily one of the more unique ones I have found, in my opinion. John and Rob are intense. The rest of the crew make a very motley bunch - as well they should - and Mason can’t help but be drawn in by them. I did enjoy watching Mason realize he does have some self worth, even if he doesn’t always believe it. He is learning where he belongs. I do wonder what will happen as the story goes on. It has definitely caught my attention and I have to see how it ends. It was also nice to catch a glimpse of David, Connor, and Trajan.

John and Marcus

There is a very strong heist theme to this book by Liv Rancourt. Various types of creatures hand out and go on recognizance missions as there try to stop an enemy known to most of them. Marcus is the new guy and we get to see him try to navigate this situation he has found himself in. I don’t know if I like the idea of Robin Hood still around in modern times, but this book was an exciting read and I will definitely be reading more as they come out. Honestly can’t wait to see what Ms Rancourt does with this series.

This was unexpected. I haven't read Soulmates series, so I had no knowledge about this universe and had a lot of fun reading this.
One of the most interesting things is John's weariness and how Marcus gives him new life. I spent all the book waiting for an actual explanation about Marcus past and I liked how it was told and worked through.
The overarching plot is interesting and the book left me thirsting for more of these merrymen.
This is a good beginning to the series, with solid writing, interesting cast and perfect editing that allows you to lose yourself in the tale, I recommend it!

Robin Hood with werewolves, very interesting side characters and a multi-book battle between Robin and a billionaire that has all kinds of possibilities? Definitely sign me up for the whole series. Rancourt has done a fantastic job taking things everyone "knows" about Robin and the Merry Men and giving them a different spin while at the same time introducing new things and Easter eggs only mega Robin afficianados will catch. The characters and the world grabbed and held me from the first chapter and I cannot wait to read more.

4.5 stars. The blurb sounded wonderful - a Robin Hood retelling with werewolves in modern times. It turned out to be an intriguing Band of queer beings of a variety of supernatural types, struggling somewhat with modern things at times. (Little) John is old and tired, Marcus is from our time and very eager to help the group. There is a gradual growth to a good HFN, with the continuing plot not ending in a painful cliffhanger.

Fantastic

Forget everything you’ve ever read or seen about Robin Hood and his Merry Band, because this turns everything on its head, sounds I a little, shakes in some supes and other mythology, stirs, sprinkles romance, then you shake some more because John and arch’s deserve a good shaking in, add some spice, shake again, and… wait. Yes, you’ve read it right, wait! How!?!?! Well, this is such a wild ride, and it has a somewhat happy ending, but… the story continues! And I’m so glad for that! A wild ride, a ton of characters all over the place, a little bit hard to separate preconceptions with the new views, but the book sucks you in, and doesn’t let you go, and now, I can never think of Robin Hood the same way, because Liv Rancourt’s version is gold!

PNR, werewolves, Robin Hood retelling

The blurb sounded amazing and it immediately drew me in.
This was a wonderful retelling of Robin Hood.
Marcus is a relatively young werewolf and is dealing with some pretty heavy issues.
John is a very (he feels) too old werewolf who definitely shouldn't be entertaining thoughts of young Marcus.
It was wonderful watching their relationship develop and grow while ta4king down a very bad guy.

I loved it and I loved it some more!!! A really well written new adventurous world to read about. It's current but has characters from the really far back ages. Like as it says, Robin Hood. The characters are very well translated to a new concept and John and Marcus's story was a really great start. I am looking forward to more from this series. Such an interesting way to spin Robinhood. Werewolves can be heroes too! Best part was because of the supernatural aspect they have lived until current times. World building here is top notch. I loved that this was about John finding love. And in a younger werewolf named Marcus. I completely related to John's struggle about feeling older and learning to trust in love again!

Mason and John's story is a fantastic start for this spinoff series. More retelling of the classic Robin Hood will always be a must read for me. The cast of characters was so engaging and the storyline made this easy to read in one sitting. I can't wait for the next book.

Ren Faire dropout, W-4s, 'smurfsticles', silver dagger, cait sidhe, HAM, massage studio tracks, heroin chic, crisis = orgasm, spit in eggs, "git 'er dun!"

This is a sideways retelling of Robin Hood with an interesting twist of the characters. It ends in a cliffhanger, so it's Book #1 of the "City of Angels" series. I'm excited for the next book, but it may take a while for it to come out. There are multiple plot lines and they intricately woven to create an excellent story. I read it so quickly that I had reread several pages and chapters. I'm glad I did as I missed several key parts of the story.

Robin Hood is Rob and Little John is just John here. But, it's John and Marcus who are the MCs. Both are werewolves--one is older, the other is younger. They each have their unique angsts and demons to conquer. Together with Rob and his "merry men", they are tasked with bringing down the Sheriff of Nottingham, now the trillionaire Leander de Lisle. They also still save and take care of the vulnerable, taking from the rich and giving to the poor. Except for Marcus, the band of men are several hundred years old.

I tremendously and thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. There's wry humor and lots of action scenes. I recommend this highly entertaining book.

What a ride! Liv’s latest has me scrambling through the Robin Hood mythology, making notes as to who was which one, delighting in the touches of paganism and Virgin mother, snorting out loud over “…in Portland, leading the rebel alliance while dressed as a frog”, the sheriff/bad guy is who? Oh and the merry men are supernaturals. Goddess bless, so good. In the middle of all this we get Marcus, young werewolf, and John, yes that John and a werewolf as well. John does not want to act on his feelings for Marcus because he has buried too many lovers and is too old. Marcus struggles with feeling broken. I kind of wanted to slap one or the other at various points a’la Moonstruck, “Snap out of it”! One of the suspense plot line is resolved but the other carries over to the next. Liv has promised we will get more of our beloved werewolves. I had no problem reading this as a standalone since the series it is a spin off of is unread on my TBR. No.The preorder is already up for the next story, it’s going to be so good! Oops, forgot to mention all this takes place in a week!
