INFLECTION POINT: AN APOCALYPTIC THRILLER

Rate this book
When an extinct Alaskan peak roars back to life, geologist Sam Shore and volcanologist Irina Toropova find themselves at the epicenter of a catastrophe no one saw coming—except one woman.

A dead scientist’s impossible theory.
A mountain that should have slept forever.
A planet edging toward its breaking point.

Susan Shore died chasing a theory the scientific world dismissed. A cascading chain reaction beneath the mantle capable of triggering a global seismic collapse. But when Mount Merryman—quiet for millennia—detonates along the Ring of Fire and the Anchorage basin buckles under nonstop quakes, her work snaps into terrifying focus.

Now, trapped on the erupting giant, the two scientists and other survivors must fight ash storms, boiling rivers, lava, and a mountain tearing itself apart beneath their feet. Survival is a desperate battle.

And escaping Merryman is only the beginning.

The Ring of Fire is igniting. Signals are spreading.

And evidence mounts that Susan’s final discovery wasn’t madness, but a warning... before the inflection point becomes the point of no return.

What’s waking isn't local—it's planetary.
And humanity may already be out of time.

Fantastic start to new series!

Inflection Point, book 1 in the Ring Of Fire series, is about a sudden explosion of volcanic activity in areas of Alaska that are supposed to be extinct. The book opens with a bang and the action never slows down! This is a book for fans of disaster thrillers with a lightning fast pace! The writing is of the highest caliber, a cut above many other authors in the genre. The characters, narrative quality, plot, dialogue and every other aspect of the writing is exceptional! Overall, 5/5 stars, highly recommended for fans of disaster thrillers and apocalyptic survival thrillers! Both audiences will be enthralled with Inflection Point, as will anyone looking for a book that's guaranteed not to lose their attention, no matter what they normally read!

Perfect Disaster Movie

I don’t write reviews often but this book demanded one. As I read this non-stop action story I was visualizing it as a movie. It’s perfect. I want a percentage for being the first to recommend it - it’ll be a blockbuster. And sequels are coming! Characters you root for, dogs, and one disaster after another. Plus it’s based in Alaska. I couldn’t put it down.

Non-stop action that will keep you reading as the horrifying details of a volcanic eruption in Alaska unfolds. There’s so much going on as you follow the characters as they struggle to survive only to find out it’s happening all over the world. Bonus points for making it even more difficult to survive because you have puppies with you. This was such a fascinating read. I can’t wait for the next one.

Earthquakes. Volcanoes erupting. Alaska falling apart, literally. Scientists on site trying to find out what is going on and trying to avoid being killed in the process. Non-stop disaster. Desperate escapes. Death. Death. Death.

Non-stop action from the beginning to the end. A strong indication that even more very, very bad things are going to happen, just somewhere else. Interesting characters. Really good.

Whew!

Non-stop action in this one. A cast of characters you care about. I know nothing about the scientific aspect of this, so I can't speak to that. This book contains my favorite part of dystopian fiction, the people who step up, and with grit, ingenuity, and determination, soldier through and become heroes.

3.5 - mostly because this was digitized audio or whatever its called.

The earth has turned wrathful, cracking open its fiery spine and rousing ancient giants beneath the Ring of Fire. As the world buckles, a ragged crew stumbles through the ruins, clinging to survival and pulling others out of the jaws of catastrophe.

truly a great read

I have to say this book was great. Half way through I was worried that there wasn’t going to be a second book. Could this really happen? No idea, but a scary thought.

Excellent story

Edge of seat, fear bubbling in the belly, high stakes. Characters were fabulously written and blended well with the plot. I definitely will be reading the next in the series.

Read about 2 chapters when I noticed the second book isn't expected to be out for about 6 months. I liked what I've read so far, but I want to shelve this and read it closer to the publishing date for book 2. Might even push that further if it looks like there will be more books in the series.

Great read

A couple months after reading the book I found it still sitting in my KU library. I think I kept it to remind me to look out for the first sequel. I’m a Bobby Akart fan, and was afraid this series might be a boring do over. Nope. The characters were interesting, the research good, and the story was not duplicative in the least. Looking forward to Megathrust coming out in a few days.
