The Energy to Lead: The Thermodynamics of Leadership

Rate this book
Terry could not help but notice some strong parallels between the way leadership seemed to work in the workplace, and how certain laws of nature might predict they would. Terry observed this while he was leading teams of engineers during his career.
He also saw illustrations of some of these laws of nature when he read and studied the scriptures. Terry put these casual observations into words when he delivered the graduate student commencement address at Indiana Wesleyan University in 2003 in a speech he titled, The Thermodynamics of Leadership . The body of that speech later became the launching point of this book,The Energy to Lead.

In this book, Terry looks briefly at the three laws of thermodynamics in simple layman s terms and in the following chapters illustrates how leadership follows the same laws. He also applies the same laws to help illustrate and explain his faith and the gospel message in a unique way. Whether you are an engineer, a parent, a pastor or anybody wishing to grow in influence in a leadership position,The Energy to Lead will be a must have in your leadership library.

Terry Woychowski is a speaker, author, entrepreneur, and leadership expert. In addition to working his way up through leadership positions at General Motors, he has founded his own consulting firm and currently serves as the President of a global engineering solutions company.

The Energy to Lead examines the link between leadership, natural law, and scripture. The three areas are explained in simple terms with lots of examples and a sense of humor. More of a primer than a textbook, it is an excellent guide and reference to keep you focused on avoiding entropy in all facets of your life.

The alchemy to lead.

Leadership is so important and maybe one of the most underappreciated characteristics of good leaders.

You can have all the talent but if you don't have good leadership its simply not going to perform as well. It can't based on the laws of thermodynamics which are natural laws.

Really great book I would recommend if you are strongly interested in leadership.

Excellent reference/guide - well broken down into actionable chunks.
I will be gifting to my daughter as she embarks on her career - I found it also to be interesting from a managing from the bottom up perspective- we can be impactful whether we have the title of manger or not.
I did receive a free copy but that has no bearing on my honest review and recommendation of this book.

Loved reading this book. Each section provided clear points on leadership. My favorite part was that in each section of these laws he showed how they work according to the ultimate truth, and that is scripture.

Excellent book. It doesn't matter if you're running a business, a division, a team, or even a Bible study/class, this book will help. I only docked a star due to several editing problems.
