When wolf shifter Chris is offered his first real mission as an enforcer trainee, he jumps at the chance to prove he belongs in the Pecan Pines Pack. After growing up isolated and packless in the mountains, he’ll do anything to protect the community that finally feels like home. But Chris never expected his assignment to involve going undercover at the annual regional dog show… or posing as someone’s mate.
Especially not Jaime.
Stoic, guarded, and impossible to read, Jaime is the last wolf Chris expects to be partnered with. Chris has tried to be friendly. Okay, maybe even flirt, but Jaime meets him with nothing but cool professionalism. Until their cover requires them to act like a devoted couple… and something in Chris’s wolf stirs with a pull he can’t deny.
Two shifters have already had their dogs mysteriously poisoned, and someone may be targeting shifter handlers to tear apart the fragile peace between humans and paranormals. Chris and Jaime must work together, share close quarters, and pretend to be bonded while tracking a dangerous saboteur.
But the longer they stay “fake mated,” the harder it becomes to ignore the
Sometimes fate doesn’t whisper. Sometimes it shoves two wolves straight into each other’s arms.
This is book ten in the Pecan Pines series. Each book is a standalone read focusing a different couple. This is the story of Chris and Jaime. Both are wolf shifters and members of Pecan Pines. Chris is currently an enforcer trainee and eager to prove the he belongs with the Pecan Pines pack. Jaime is an experienced animal behaviorist and trainer. When a problem arises with the local dog show. Two shifters have already had their dogs mysteriously poisoned. So the alpha of the pack decides to substitute Chris and Jaime for the shifter couple that was signed up to compete. They will be going undercover and posing as mates. This is their story. I really enjoyed this book. It is well written and easy to read. I liked watching how Christ and Jaime slowly learned to trust each other and support each other. Another book to enjoy in this series. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Exciting! Chris, is honored he's offered an opportunity as enforcer trainee. He has to go undercover as a dog trainer with partner, Jaime. Jaime is a bit closed off carrying heavy baggage because of his past. The men are pretending to be a mated couple which is a hoot because it takes them out of their comfort zones. They are tracking who may be poisoning dogs of shifters. The mystery grows and the adventure gets a little dangerous. Chris and Jaime are delightful and well matched giving us some heat. Nice cover art, good flow, nicely done. Great addition to the series. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I absolutely loved reading this book. Jaime and Chris were both great characters. Jaime was closed off because of how he was treated by his previous pack and Chris was finally allowed to prove himself as an enforcer for his new pack after growing up feral in his words. They are both assigned to undercover who was causing problems at the dog shows. They both faced danger, but also personal growth together and learning that they were designed by fate to be partners for life. They do have a HEA.

Chris and his family are fairly new to the Pecan Pines pack. He's an enforcer in training and hoping to move up the ranks. When Cooper asks him to go undercover with Jaime, he's nervous and excited to prove himself. They're going undercover to a dog show, pretending to be a married couple, to try and figure out who is sabotaging and possibly harming the dogs. There is tension, danger, and romance all mixed up in one.

Chris and Jaime had a beautiful spark especially, when Jaime’s walls came down. These two were complete opposites: where one was care free, easy going and a people’s person whereas, the other was more guarded.
A mission brings them together but the rest is up to them.
I adored Chris and Jaime and was rooting for them every step of the way.

Both Jamie and Chris are new to the Pecan Pines pack. Jamie as the head of the new K-9 unit and Chris an enforcer in training. Both men carry a lot of insecurities from their pasts. They are assigned to look into poisoning incidents happening at the dog shows. This story is full of action, angst, danger, tension, romance and finding their mate. Plus a cute Papillon named Pampi a total drama queen.
This is book ten and another great addition to the Pecan Pines series this time we have Chris and Jaime’s story who are paired together on an undercover mission to find out who is trying to sabotage the dog show, their is action and danger but we also see the two grow closer and realise that fate meant for them to be together so they have to solve their mission so they can get their own hea. Good read and series.

The culprits were caught. Along the way Chris and Jaime fell in love. I liked how both were going to work in the K9 unit.
This is the tenth book in this series and while this one could be read as a stand-alone you will see a few familiar characters. I really enjoyed this story. The characters were wonderful and I liked how slowly they came together. I can’t wait for more from this world.
This is a really good book where Chris, a wannabe pack enforcer, and Jaime, the K9 trainer, have to go undercover as a married couple at a dog agility show. There is an undercurrent of danger, lots of wonderful banter, and a mystery to solve in this must-read.
