A year after a heartbreaking breakup, Jeonghan returns with an impossible proposal: a six-month contract marriage with an offer Yuna can’t refuse.
She already knows the man he’s become: the cold, ruthless Mafia Underboss - Silent Storm. But what she doesn’t know is the deadly truth he’s chasing.
Now, she’s caught in a web of secrets, betrayal, and buried emotions. Trapped between the ghosts of their past and the fire of their present. But when it’s time to walk away, will he let her go...or will he make her stay?
Shin Yuna - Assistant Negotiator with sharp negotiation skills and loves to chase the feeling of freedom and adrenaline by racing in the underground racing tracks. She chose herself over everything.
Jeon Jeonghan - The Underboss and CEO of Jeon Cooperation is bound by responsibilities and alliance disputes. He chose everyone but not love.
Shattered Hearts is one of those books where the emotional weight sneaks up on you. I went in expecting romance and tension, but what I stayed for was the quiet ache beneath the banter — the kind that lingers long after you’ve closed the book.
The banter between Jeonghan and Yuna is sharp, layered, and emotionally loaded. Every exchange feels like a chess move: calculated, defensive, and yet painfully honest. They don’t just flirt — they test each other. Their conversations carry history, resentment, longing, and unfinished sentences that say more than the words themselves. It’s the kind of dialogue where you can feel how much has been left unsaid.
The prose is immersive without being heavy. It flows easily but knows exactly when to slow down and sit with the hurt. Emotional moments aren’t rushed, and that restraint works in the book’s favor. There’s a rawness to how pain, regret, and desire are explored — not dramatized, just laid bare.
The setting quietly amplifies the story. It feels intimate and enclosed, mirroring the emotional limbo both characters are stuck in. Whether it’s shared spaces or emotionally charged reunions, the environment always feels purposeful — like it’s pushing them together while reminding them of what went wrong before.
As characters, Yuna is guarded but deeply human — her strength lies in survival, not bravado. Jeonghan, on the other hand, carries his guilt heavily; his vulnerability feels earned, not performative. Watching their walls crack, piece by piece, was the most satisfying part of the story.
Shattered Hearts is about second chances, but more than that, it’s about whether love can survive pride, fear, and emotional scars. A compelling, emotionally grounded read that trusts its characters — and its readers.
This book was quite good for the debut of the author, i loved the pacing of the book. it also has murder mystery and the fact that everything was revealed slowly and we weren't overwhelmed by all the information. I loved how MMC was a mystery that slowly un raveld and loved the attitude of FMC.
This book feels like stepping straight into a K-drama 🥹❤️ It tells the story of Jeoghan, a mafia underboss and Yuna, his first love whose worlds shouldn’t collide, yet somehow they do. Their relationship is messy, passionate, and complicated, the kind that keeps you turning pages because you need to know what happens next. It pulls you into a whirlwind of power, betrayal, healing with so much tension, drama, family secrets, danger and just enough slow romance to melt your heart while breaking it at the same time 🥲
You know that kind of story where you’re screaming at the characters, rolling your eyes, but still can’t put it down? Yep 😅 definitely this book.
The mafia politics, betrayals, and suspense kept me so hooked.
The way it was presented to me and its tropes immediately caught my attention. I went in with high expectations and it didn't disappoint me!
The author definitely knew how to create strong characters with extremely complex and interesting backstories, which kept me hooked on the story. I wish certain parts of the book had been better developed, but I absolutely loved the plot twist and the conflict resolution.
I'm super excited for the next books in this series!
I was pleasantly surprised with this book! Other than the flow of writing needs a little bit of work, it made me realize that I need to read more mafia romance. You could just feel the raw emotion coming off the page from Yuna in this story. There is a lot of back and fourth in this book, but the ending makes it all worth it!
This is a dark Korean mafia romance with NO spice. This book focused on the drama between Korean and Italian mafia gangs, heated second chance storyline and family difficulties, which I was not expecting at all. I have never read anything quite like this before, and that alone made it a really interesting experience.
The storyline was engaging and kept me invested. I liked the overall concept, the mafia politics, and the emotional weight of the second chance romance. It felt different in a good way and stood out from a lot of other books in the genre.
My main gripe was the focus on Nova, the MMC’s younger brother. I totally understand why he was important to the plot, but it felt like too much time was spent on his life and experiences. I felt like that level of detail pulled my attention away from the main story and romance. This was a unique read with a strong plot and an interesting take on mafia romance. If you want something different from the usual and do not mind a slower, more plot focused story, this is the one!!
