She Took My Baby by Steena Holmes Holy whirlwind. This was such a layered, twisted thriller from page one. I enjoyed how this story was told. The use of connection, emotion, and love was brilliant.
I liked Trina and Rosie a lot. That connection was strong. Chosen family, family connected through unspeakable bonds, is often the strongest, most sincere. And they surely proved that. The way their journeys intertwined and eventually unfolded was well plotted.
Marcus was a diabolical character, easy to despise. He was everything a reader loves to hate in a villain. And he ultimately got what he deserved.
Steena is such a gifted writer. She brought this complicated family dynamic to life in such a beautiful way. She included all the ugly parts, which only made the bond feel more authentic.
This was intense and chaotic. The way this story unravels will suck readers in and hold them hostage. The power of family and the ability to protect are to be taken seriously. Like a phoenix from the ashes, these characters will rise and leave a lasting impression.

I listened to the audiobook of this story. The narrators did a good job of conveying emotion and character voices. The story held my attention, however there was so much repetition in the prose that it pulled me from the story. Overall, the story itself is suspenseful and a good mystery. Having a good narrator, kept me engaged.
A powerful, sinister family with secrets and lies to secure their family fortune. Trina was told her baby died, yet Rosalind’s baby survived. But wasn’t Rosalind supposed to be carrying a girl and didn’t Trina hear two sets of cries? It’s a twisty ride to uncover the secrets and to find out who she can really trust.
I received an arc from NetGalley and Bookouture Audio and leave my review voluntarily.
