Ignite: Love in Scrubs Spin Off

Rate this book
Halo Grant does her job, minds her business, and refuses to be distracted by fame or foolishness. So when an early-morning fire drops her in front of NBA star DaVinci Bryns, she handles him the same way she handles every man who tries her, with a firm check and zero special treatment.

DaVinci has kept his heart on lock since losing his wife four years ago, but Halo slips past every guard he’s put up. Losing his house should’ve been the headline, but something about her stays with him long after the smoke clears, and he’s not letting it go.

What starts as a heated clash turns into quiet gestures, unspoken tension, and two people trying hard not to admit they’re drawn to each other. But sparks don’t lie.
Will their spark ignite the healing they both need, or burn out before either of them is ready?

A good story. The ending was odd to me, but it did not take away from the overall story

AMAZING 🤩

The tears I cried reading this book is unreal. I am a sucker for a good love story and this baby was true love. A man determined to get and love his woman properly. A woman afraid but desiring the love of a good man, someone who will stay and stand beside her during the good bad and ugly!!! I am so glad I read this. I am blushing and giddy and I pray the love for all my friends 😝!! This was pure beauty and perfection. Also I’m not a fan of a slow burn 🔥 but this one truly felt worth every second of it. Thank you C. Monet you did this baby!!!

The author makes it clear this is a slow burn, even with the instant attraction between DaVinci and Halo. His methods of getting her attention were questionable at best, but his intentions were there. Once you get past that, along with the drama involving his former employee and Halo finally letting her guard down, it ends up being a really sweet romance.

DaVinci is intentional in his pursuit and fully committed to spoiling Halo. Halo is guarded but with good reason. I loved the way his family embraced her, and getting a look at some friends from the previous book. If you’re into minimal drama, a teaspoon of stalkerish behavior, and an MMC who worships the ground the FMC walks on, this might be for you.

After reading Crash, that little voice in the back of my head kept asking, “Okay… but what happened with Halo and her obsession with Davinci?” And then Ignite came along and answered all my questions.

Getting to see how these two actually came together was such a fun ride. There were plenty of funny moments, some really heartfelt declarations, and just enough drama to keep things interesting, especially with that obsessed fan/former employee causing trouble.

What I loved most was the energy between them. Davinci was very much giving “if he wanted to, he would” vibes, while Halo was over here struggling to let her guard down because of her past. She wasn’t used to letting people in like that, so there was definitely some second-guessing about his intentions along the way.

But Davinci basically stepped in like, “Relax… I got this.” And the way he showed up for her made it clear he wasn’t going anywhere.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. It had humor, a little drama, and a sweet connection between two characters who just needed the right moment to come together. A solid spin-off that definitely delivered. 🔥📚

Great read

What can I say Vinny and Halo was a time. When I say these were 2 stubborn ppl. This book speaks on grief and what healing looks like if your open to it. The author is new to me but I am extremely glad I read it. I would love to read more about Tessa and Omni Im sure both of these ladies is a time.

I loved this story. It’s a true slow burn where the sparks are immediate but never rushed. The love grows with intention, respects boundaries, and shows two people learning that vulnerability can actually be safe. Tender, grounded, and emotionally satisfying, it’s a reminder that sometimes the best love ignites when you’re not even looking for it.

Ignite

When Halo and DaVinci were introduced in Crash, I knew there was a story there and I’m excited that the author was able to write it. I enjoyed the journey to happily ever after that DaVinci and Halo went on. These two met on a night that should have brought DaVinci to his knees, but instead he crossed paths with Halo and the way she handled him got his attention to the point where he couldn’t stop thinking about her even after several days had passed. Halo initially tried to push him away but he was persistent and intentional and she couldn’t fight her attraction and wanting to be with him and around him any longer.

While their story was a slow burn, it was still filled with love and intention. It showed them both matching the other’s energy in the best way possible and them showing up for each other in whatever way was needed. I loved how they showed up for each other and showed love for each other. It was pure and intentional and meant to be forever. I also enjoyed the found family aspect of the story and the bonus chapter just tied the two stories together and made for a perfect spinoff.

DaVinci and Halo!!

I enjoyed DaVinci and Halo when they were featured in Crash, and I was happy when I heard that they were getting their own book. They first met at a fire that took place at DaVinci's home. Halo didn't back down from DaVinci at the fire, and he instantly smitten by her because of her behavior towards him. I loved their journey of love even though DaVinci was low key stalking her. 😂 Halo and DaVinci had gone through a lot in their life, and they were able to provide the healing love that they both needed. Their love for each other was so heart-warming you could feel it throughout the book. I also fell in love with Halo's love for her dog, Brixxi. She had her baby spoiled and because DaVinci loved Halo, he in turn loved and spoiled Brixxi as well. Cassie got everything she deserved, and I did not feel sorry for her crazy tail because she was not remorseful at all. It was good to read about other characters from Crash and get updates on their lives. I'm hoping some of the others will still get books of their own, especially Chance, Giveon, Tessa and Omni. I thoroughly enjoyed this sports romance from the very beginning to the end!!

This was sheer perfection...😊

This book made me cry, Made me cry something fierece...cause we all need a man like DaVinci Brynes coming for us. That man was so consistent so f****** intentional... I literally just couldn't believe it. He knew what he wanted and he went for it full throttle... It was like second nature to him, Though it was stalkerish at first it was the cutest stalkerish feeling I've ever seen in my life. He saw something that spoke to his soul resonated in his spirit and he went for it. Showed up was present and was everything Halo needed. And for Halo to be open and ready for him even admitting that she was scared to be open was beautiful. This story was one of the best slow burn story that I have read in 2025. So happy I got to read this and as far as C. MONET is concerned...she know she forever a fave...Dis wrote the hell out of this story...she just done miss. When I need feeling and depth, emotion, she is a go to. She pulls at the heart, really giving the reading something to think about. Damn if you ain't read then you missing out💜

Great story!!

This story was everythang!!! If we’re honest, we women can be difficult. Well not difficult, but challenging. We have many layers and often we have to be strong for everyone around us. We have baggage, we have insecurities, we often have to prove ourselves in what can be a male dominated world. However, what I loved most about this story is how even with all that, Davinci was man’s man. Instead of trying to make Halo small or fault her for having “masculine energy”, he embraced it. He took her as l she was and gave the love and acceptance she never knew she needed. He encouraged her to be her, while letting her know through actions he was a safe place to land. He saw her worth and instead of running away because she was “difficult” he ran towards her full force. She was hard to everyone else, but with him she could be in her soft girl era. I just loved how he loved her!! C. Monet did an amazing job of showing black love at its finest! Love that wasn’t always pretty but worth the fight.

Wonderful Story

Ignite was a great spin-off from Crash: Love In Scrubs. After reading Crash, I mentioned to the author that Davinci and Halo needed a book because there was definitely a story there from what we read in Crash. Imagine my excitement when she and another book club member said they had a book and another club member said she read it and liked it also. Ignite is the story of firefighter Halo and basketball star Davinci. It starts when Halo and her team responded to a fire alarm at Davinci's home, and she had to jack him up to make him stand back and allow her team to work. From that moment Davinci was in love with the person he later found out to be a major fan. Although she refused to admit it, a spark was lit inside Halo and the road to them actually getting together is wonderful and a great love story filled with being intentional, living in the present, and healing from trauma. Can't wait to read the next one in the series.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My Book of the Year!

I took my time reading it because I wanted to savor every moment, and when I reached the last page, I honestly wanted to start all over again. The book, about instant attraction, patience, deep love, grief, and unwavering support between Halima and DaVinci is nothing short of beautiful. The outpouring of support from their circle Omni, Malik, Tessa was everything.
And let’s talk about DaVinci… he is THAT man. Strong, intentional, consistent, and unforgettable. Every interaction between them felt real and meaningful, making me root for them from start to finish.
This book is emotional, heartfelt, and full of depth. Too good to put down, and I can’t wait to see what this author gives us next!
Highly recommend to anyone who loves a story that stays with you long after you close the book!

Excellent story, a bit long-winded! I truly loved "Ignite!" Halo and DaVinci's story started off a little rocky. She hemmed him up because even though his house was burning down, he was somewhat of an 🫏⛳️(🕳?), but he caught feelings pretty quick and even got on that stalker tip. As the universe would have it, he had a REAL stalker who burned down his house, but had it not been for said stalker, DaVinci would have never met Halo. Meanwhile at the fire station, Halo's subordinate Keith (she was a lieutenant and his boss) was giving her a very hard time because she was a female and he could (or so he thought). When he nearly ruined a very special event for her, DaVinci beat the 🧻 out of him. He was transferred to another station, never to be seen or heard from again. Ms C. Monet, this was a great read!

My Man my Man!!

Moving with intention with that quiet crazy strength is everything Davinci Bryns is and when he sets his sights on Halo after his house was set on fire by a disgruntled ex employee and Halo shows him on the court he is the man but when it comes to fires she rules the flame but when it comes to love Halo has been let down to many times and taking a chance on a Ball player is not sonething she is willing to risk but she hasn't met anybody like Davinci because he is going all out now the question is will she let him? This was a slow & sexy burn with some laughs and suspense and you see some of our peeps from Crash!

Straight gas no brakes

This is one of the best books I’ve read this year out of the 378. I experienced so many emotions from this book. I must have highlighted half of it because of the quotes and life changing prose. I didn’t rush through I read it slow and steady. What an amazing spinoff-love,family, sacrifice , hard work, vulnerability just so many themes done well. The just when you think you finish there is more was chef’s kiss. I hope there will be more from everybody it’s so many more books from all characters involved. EXCELLENT JOB I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

Wow, OMG, Outstanding, all of these expressions are a positive on how I felt about this story. It was definitely all of that and so much more.
A timeless story of two souls who didn't realize they were it for each other and needed one another. Halo and DaVinci were meant for each other when it was time for their lives to collide, explode etc. She was everything that he didn't know he wanted and needed. He was everything that she needed to fulfill her brokenness and dreams.
Once they became as one, the two of them actually began to live, respect, learn, support, and truly love one another.

So glad that I came across this this spin-off to the "Love In Scrubs" series.

This was so Good!

Author C. Monet, you posted that you were hesitant about writing Ignite due to the extreme success of "Crash," but ma'am, this book was absolutely amazing. This was the perfect slow burn. The way you built Da Vinci and Halima's love story out of those ashes like a phoenix rising from the tragedy of a devastating fire. Da Vinci and Halima had both experienced tragic losses, hearts broken and still healing. There was no denying the sparks between these two, and the way Da Vinci applied pressure and kept showing up for Halo, determined to secure his place in her heart, kept me engaged as her walls slowly chipped away. 5⭐

This was really good!!!!! The author let it be known that this was a slow burn but baby the burn was sooo good. We met Davinci and Halo in Crash. I didn’t know what the author had in store for them but it was beautiful. I felt every emotion in this book. I cried for Halo and the feelings she was carrying. When I say Davinci was so intentional in loving her. He made me swoon several times. Im glad Cassie got what she deserved 👏 I loved the bonus chapter and being able to catch up with characters from both books. ( another spinoff maybe ?)
Overall this was a beautiful love story. Please check it out!

Great read

I went back and forth on giving this book five stars. The reason I didn't is because the beginning was a little too slow for me. However, when it all came together Halo and DaVinci's story was phenomenal. The way I loved Halo as a strong woman gave me goosebumps. She did not play with ANYONE. DaVinci, sir, you are a crashout the the truest form. The way you said forget the legal way 100% of the time.... Wet panties over here.

This book gave us everything and we got to see our favorite couple and family. Until we meet again.

Love Ignited

When love yokes you up it’s impossible to runaway. If you read Love in Scrubs and got a glimpse of Halo and Davinci but were curious about what the deal was with them, we get that in this story and oh is it a long joyful ride.

Halo is lively, loud, fearless, and soft all at the same time. Davinci is decisive, focused , determined and knows what he wants from the their first “meet-cute”. We get to sit back and watch it all come together beautifully while also catching up on a few other characters. This books is so worth the read. Congratulations C. Monet

Ignite: Love in Scrubs Spi Off

This is definitely a love letter. Intense, quiet, beautiful, and intentional. Every move DaVinci made was with purpose. He did everything out of love and protection.

Halo and Vinny were perfect for each. Both grieving someone and not living. The fire at his house changed the trajectory for him and Halo. They became each other's peace, cheerleader, and champion.

I truly enjoyed this story. I hope we get a book about Tessa and Langston, Omni, and even Semaj.

A Leisure Walk Into Love

Halo and DaVinci's story was every bit of the slow burn C. Monet said it would be. It made me take my time and enjoy their basketball player and firefighter love story. DaVinci showed up for Halo in ways she didn't even know she needed. Intentional and consistent. He made it easy for her to let him in and show up for him in the ways he needed. The bonus chapter was a special treat to catch up with Malik, Sametra, and Samaj. I definitely recommend this spin-off from Crash.

Love is Patient…

It’s been a long time since I have truly adored an MMC like DaVinci!! When I tell you he is the epitome of ‘I don’t play about mine’..whew!! And Halo is his twin flame and his “heart outside his chest”. This is one of the most raw and honest love stories I’ve read in a while. You will laugh, you will definitely cry(a lot), but you will feel the profound love that these characters feel for each other. I absolutely enjoyed this entire book, start to finish.

That Good Slow Burn

Goodness, talking about character development and growth. Halo and DeVinci grew in this book both as individuals and also as a couple. I loved how once DeVinci knew what he wanted he didn’t let anything stop him. Halo was so set on being strong she almost lost a good thing..well, not really because Vinny was that dude and was steady applying pressure. This was definitely a slow burn but it wasn’t drawn out. You could feel the love forming.🌶️

❤️❤️👍🏽👍🏽

This was an amazing read! 📖✨ Davinci and Halo’s story was beautiful. The story flowed seamlessly from beginning to end—from the way they met, to the drama that brought them together, and finally to their HEA 💕. The love of family and friendship was clearly shown, which made it even more special. Every minute of this book was worth it, and it did not disappoint. Loved it! ❤️

Loved

I loved this so much!!!!!!!! A star basketball players house is on fire. And the captain that comes to save it ain’t taking no crap from him. When she jacks him up he immediately falls in love. Then she realizes it’s her favorite player but wants nothing to do with him romantically.

Davinci is persistent and wears Halo down.

I also loved the cross over of characters with the first book Crash.

And it was probably the best epilogue EVER

This book was so good I laugh and cried and cried and laughed.... Vinny knew that she was the one and he was not giving up until he got her.Halo didn't play about her job and if she had to jack him up so be it cause he was not going into that house. I love the pace of this story how we seen that true love can happen when it's meant to be and Cassie was crazy as all get out. Great Book😍😍

Building a Strong Foundation

From the beginning of this story I knew from Halo and DaVinci first interaction, this story was going to take us on an unforgettable journey.

Like in real life, you have to put in the work to get the results you want.

Thanks for touch on losing a love one and dealing with the grief it leaves behind. Also touching on being able to move forward.

Phenomenal Story!!

A great emotional read!

Halo was existing, grieving without acknowledgement. DaVinci the same but having to do it in the spotlight. Cassie, crazy, obsessive. What was meant to destroy gave way to a beautiful love story. What was so exciting was DaVinci knew what he wanted and he kept pressing until he got her, Halo. I loved all the emotions, the healing, the vulnerability, just a great group of friends and a whole lot of love!
