Bagley's Utah Survival Guide is an interpretive joyride through the Beehive State. Nationally syndicated editorial cartoonist Pat Bagley has penned the must-have guide book for anyone who wants the real dirt on Utah. History, culture, politics, religion, all-you-can-eat cuisine; it's all here, replete with cartoons, illustrations, maps, recipes, and fascinating facts--Mormon pioneer crops were saved from voracious crickets by dinosaurs. [technically, this is true; it's in the book!].
A fun little read, easily finished in an evening. As one who has lived in Utah most of my life, I could see the truth and the sarcasm. Utah's a great place to live and its real story is more than just poking fun at Mormons.
I found this to be very helpful to explain some of Utah's history and quirks. It wouldn't be Pat Bagley without a bit of sarcasm. Pat Bagley and Robert Kirby helped me understand Utah and love it all the more.
Had some funny parts, but I expected more. Also, it was honestly hard to tell the difference sometimes between the satire and the truth; I'd like to have known which was which.
