Kids from 8 to 80 will love to follow the adventures of Norman the Nephite and his travels through time. It's your job to find Norman in these colorful pictures depicting scenes throughout history. From The Pre-Mortal World to the Lost Ten Tribes to a future in space. The wonderful and challenging illustrations will provide hours of continuous fun as you seach and say "I Spy A Nephite"!.
I remember loving this book as a kid and it's still a lot of fun now. I don't think it's as challenging as the Waldo books, with less people in each scene, but it's a fun way to flip through various time periods, and the illustrations have a lot of interesting (and often funny) things going on in the background.
There's also an additional check-list for every page at the back of the book, to search for even more things in each scene.
My children love this picture book. It's built like the old "Where's Waldo" or I Spy books, with crazy little illustrations everywhere. Norman the Nephite is a librarian. He's cleaning up when he discovers a new set of plates (books). The funny pictures really capture kids attention. It's a real winner for keeping them quiet (for a few minutes anyway) during church.
I loved this book as a kid, and now my son has it to get him through sacrament meeting. Hours of entertainment. I have to tell him it's only for church. Adorable puns, overdone pokes at Mormon culture (e.g., green Jell-o), and humorous malaproposims. And a ginger-Nephite with a token Lamanite friend. Perfect!
My family had this in the early 90s and I recently rediscovered it. Basically “Where’s Waldo” in the LDS church context. Pat Bagley illustrated lots of children’s books before he moved to political cartoons for the Salt Lake Tribune full-time. This has to be one of his best. Lots of references to LDS culture and a fun way for kids to keep quiet in church meetings or on a Sunday afternoon.
This is sort of cheating since you don't really read these books, but it was on Goodreads, so I marked it. These books are like Where's Waldo, but it's got Book of Mormon, as well as other history themes. Fun!
