I shouldn't have pretended to be a hitman, and now the mafia boss is obsessed.
My brother made me join a super anonymous messaging service, and when I teased him about being a spy or in the mob, I thought it was a joke. I even changed my profile pic to a skull, and my name to Bunny the Killer.
Then I get added to a mafia group chat, with my brother and tattooed men in suits.
The Kingpin messages me privately. He wants to know who I am.
I can't put my brother in danger by revealing his mistake, so I play along.
But the mafia boss isn’t convinced. He says he’s going to track me down, and make me pay.
I ghost him.
And I think that’s the end.
Until the gifts begin to arrive.

Nina A.K.A: “Bunny The Killer” is just too adorable, love that Blake (The Mafia Boss) immediately called her out for her “Fictional murders” 😂😂 Even after 8 chapters I’m smiling when I’m not lol or snort-laughing at their banter-flirting ❤️
💋Funny 💋Cute 💋& Naughty❣️ 💚Loved It💚
She’s definitely entertaining 💀“I am to being cool what polar bears are to the tropical rainforest—hopelessly out of place.” ☠️“Uhhgghh.” The gurgling sound I make is because this conversation pulled a plug from my pussy and my brain drained out ⭐️This was the best one “I have all the experience of sex of a nun from 1487” 🤣🤣🤣 Blake’s pretty funny too: 🪦“Death’s Apprentice” (alternate title, as she doesn’t like be called an “ASS ASS IN”😆
Nina think her brother added her to a group chat and her display name is killerbunny him thinking it isnt her. The chat is of hitman/assassins who work for his boss. Blake knows this person should not be in the chat and trying to get info. The more he texts Nina the more he is interested. There talks are funny and Nina tries to keep her brother safe by faking it. Little did she know Blake knows she's to innocent.
Lots of back and forth and phone sex and flirting between the 2 and once Blake finds out who she is he's still all in and wanting to bring his bunny home for good.
No ow/om drama, no cheating, tiny drama, sexy times, virgin gal no manwhore

She lied about who she was. He decided she was already his.
The Elevator Pitch: What begins as a joke inside an anonymous message thread turns dangerous when a shy young woman catches the attention of a mafia boss who can’t stop pulling at the edges of her lie. Their banter sharpens into obsession, and every gift, challenge, and late-night exchange drags her deeper into a connection that feels equal parts thrilling, reckless, and impossible to resist. Beneath the power games and heat, two lonely people find the one thing neither of them knows how to control once it arrives.
This was absolutely amazing! The whole banter over messages was done spectacularly and evie i don’t know what you put in this book but it was simply fabulous!
I loved the characters, the premise and pacing, everything was awesome and considering it was only about 130/140 pages i really needed more of them!
WOW! I love Blake and Nina together! Such a powerful, wonderful and beautiful love story! Soo soo good and soo soo H.O.T I absolutly loved it! 🥰❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️❤️😍
Nina Brookes is blissfully unaware that her brother is, you know, casually involved with the mafia. So, when he insists that she join some ultra-anonymous messaging app, Nina treats it like a personality makeover moment and christens herself Bunny the Killer, complete with a skull profile pic. Naturally, things go completely off the rails when her brother accidentally drops her into an actual mafia group chat. Yes. Real mafia men. At first, it’s kind of hilarious… right up until the boss slides into her DMs. It doesn’t take long for Blake Thorne, the Kingpin of Norwood to clock that “Bunny the Killer” is about as threatening as a marshmallow. But instead of shutting it down, he’s intrigued. He’s pretty sure Bunny is a woman and absolutely sure she’s entertaining. And suddenly, his usual scowl is getting replaced with something dangerously close to a smile. Their messaging is pure gold. Nina, fully committed to the bit, tries to “prove” she’s a deadly assassin by recounting the details of her “kills”, which are very obviously lifted from movies she’s seen or books she’s read. The sheer confidence. The complete lack of actual criminal skill. Blake is amused. I was crying with laughter. But beneath all the ridiculousness, there’s something unexpectedly sweet. The anonymity gives them both space to open up in ways they never have before. Their banter turns into something deeper, and suddenly you’ve got Nina feeling seen for the first time ever, and Blake developing protective instincts he definitely did not sign up for. But the real kicker? Blake figures out who she is pretty early on… and just lets her keep going. He sits back and watches her blossom behind her fake persona, and lets her grow into someone braver and bolder. It’s weirdly wholesome for a man who probably has people on speed dial for… less wholesome reasons. And when he finally decides to go get her? Let’s just say Nina does not exactly put up a fight… despite being technically kidnapped. (Romance logic, we love.) The spice is more of a slow simmer since they don’t meet face-to-face until about 75% in, but Blake does send her a very motivating little gift to tide her over until then. Subtle? No. Effective? Absolutely. I loved watching their relationship unfold. The tension, the humor, the chemistry that just keeps building. And that epilogue? Oh, it delivers. Let’s just say Blake and Nina (a.k.a. Bunny) have, without question, been living up to the whole “doing it like rabbits” reputation 😏 I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What starts as a joke—an anonymous messaging app, a fake name (Bunny the Killer is iconic, honestly), and a little teasing—spirals into something wildly unexpected when she finds herself in a group chat with actual mafia men… including the boss.
Blake.
Cold. Calculated. Completely in control.
And immediately intrigued.
Their connection starts through messages, and that’s where this story really shines. There’s something so addictive about watching two people build chemistry through words alone—banter, tension, curiosity—all wrapped up in the thrill of secrecy. Nina is playful and a little reckless, trying to keep up the act to protect her brother, while Blake is always just a step ahead, sensing there’s more to her than she’s letting on.
And when he says he’s going to find her?
You believe him.
What makes Blake such a compelling hero is that he doesn’t rush. He figures her out early, but instead of immediately closing in, he lets things unfold. He lets Nina fall—lets her step outside her comfort zone, lets her become braver, more adventurous—until what started as a lie turns into something real.
And when he finally decides to claim what he wants?
There’s no hesitation.
The shift from anonymous messages to real-world obsession is where the tension peaks, and it’s so satisfying. Nina’s journey is just as fun to watch—she starts off playing a role, but ends up discovering a version of herself she didn’t know existed… and a love she definitely didn’t expect.
✨ Tropes to love:
Mafia boss obsession Online/anonymous identity romance “I’ll find you” energy He falls first (and hardest) Touch of humor with dark romance vibes Protective, possessive hero Ordinary girl pulled into a dangerous world
This is a fast, engaging read that leans into its premise in the best way—fun, a little chaotic, and completely addictive. It’s the kind of story where one small decision snowballs into something life-changing… and you can’t look away.
If you enjoy romances where danger meets playful deception—and where the most powerful man in the room becomes completely fixated on her—Messages from the Mafia Boss is one you won’t want to miss.

For a lighter mafia rom-com, this was honestly better than average and completely understood the assignment. The premise is ridiculous in the best possible way: a lonely accountant accidentally gets pulled into a mafia group chat, pretends to be an assassin named BunnytheKiller, and ends up emotionally catfishing a mafia boss who becomes immediately, inconveniently obsessed with her.
What made this work for me was the chemistry through conversation. The texting, voice calls, gifts, inside jokes, and banter built the relationship far more than the physical side did. Blake and Nina genuinely enjoyed talking to each other, and that made the emotional connection believable even inside a very over-the-top setup.
The humor was probably my favorite part. The book fully leaned into the absurdity of mafia life mixed with normal relationship dynamics, and some of the exchanges genuinely made me laugh. It had that “dangerous but playful” tone where the story never took itself so seriously that it became cringe.
Blake was possessive and obsessed from the start, but the book softened that with thoughtfulness and attention. The gifts, the callbacks, the way he listened to her and remembered things about her made the romance feel oddly sweet underneath all the mafia theatrics. Nina also felt emotionally believable as someone who had spent most of her life feeling overlooked and suddenly found someone who truly saw her.
The pacing was fast, addictive, and extremely readable. I kept wanting one more chapter, especially during the texting phase, which honestly may have been my favorite part of the entire book.
Was it realistic? Absolutely not. Did I care? Also no.
For the kind of book this wanted to be, it delivered a fun, funny, emotionally satisfying mafia rom-com with strong banter, solid chemistry, and enough heart underneath the chaos to make it work.
Who this book is for:
* readers who love obsessive mafia MMCs * fans of texting and online relationship dynamics * readers who prefer chemistry and banter over nonstop spice * people who enjoy possessive but emotionally devoted heroes * readers wanting a lighter, funny mafia romance * anyone looking for a fast, entertaining palate-cleanser read
Trigger Warnings include: mentions of mafia activity/violence, discussions of hiring an assassin, slight kidnapping (it was mutually acceptable), breeding kink
Evie Rose’s mafia novellas have become comfort reads for me, and this one absolutely hit the spot! She’s in a group chat that she doesn’t belong in, and he’s obsessed with flirting with her. There’s specialty chocolate, assassin jokes, and a “soft only for her” kingpin. There’s literally an added furry housemate just because he misses her between texts! So you see why this was exactly what I needed! Blake is the much older mafia boss, and Nina’s brother accidentally adds her to a group chat meant for planning dangerous mafia adventures in deadly matters. We get to know them through their texting. His flirting, her nervous banter. He basically begs for her attention by sending her gifts, and it’s honestly adorable. Everything is anonymous, that’s the point of the text app. But Blake will stop at nothing to find her. And when he does, there’s no losing her. Not that she’s against the predicament.
My Favorite Quotes: • “I’ll be spending the day plotting how to seduce you so you’ll come to me and beg me to take you.” • “I take what I want. What I’m owed.” • “You’re going to be such a good girl for me, aren’t you?” • “You’re going to love it as I take you apart piece by piece, and make you mine.” • “I’m going to take you. Slide inside your tight little c!nt raw, and make you mine. And you can’t stop me.” • “You’re my reason for living.”
7/10 Dirty Birdy 3/10 Age Gap 4/10 Instalove 5/10 Mafia Romance 6/10 Slow Burn
Messages From The Mafia Boss by Evie Rose is part of the multi author Letters In Love series and was a great read. As a steamy, instalove, age gap, mafia-lite romance with rom-com vibes I was hooked right from the beginning especially with the likeable characters of Nina and Blake. Nina, the younger sister of Aaron who works for mob boss Blake is accidentally added to a works group chat by Aaron and amusingly enters her contact name as Bunny the Killer. This piques the older kingpin Blake's interest and they develop a connection via chat messages as Nina paints herself a a hitman. Blake quickly realises Bunny is not as described and an unlikely dialogue and attraction grows between them. Both characters are smitten by each other and while Nina fears discovery and the danger she has put herself and brother in, Blake is obsessed with claiming Nina as his woman and proceeds to systematically locate her, stalk her and find out all he can about her. Messages between the two become suggestive, amusing and spicy, each of them quickly becoming addicted to their developing deeper connection and attraction, as messages become faceless calls and special deliveries. Their interactions via message, chats, calls and deliveries had me chuckling out loud several times and the steamy and spicy moments were hot as their story came to a head. I would definitely recommend as a highly amusing and swoon worthy short read with a satisfying HEA.

Nina Brookes(bunnythekiller) is our curvy, shy, beautiful, twenty two year old MFC. She has light brown hair with blonde highlights with intriguing golden hazel eyes. Her brother Aaron has raised her since a child after their mother died. Wanting to keep her safe he adds her on the secure TelUBox messaging app. Unknowingly adding her to the “Norwood Action Team” which is the Norwood Mafia group chat where he actually works. When Nina decides to do something exciting and she realizes she’s been added to Norwood Mafia group chat accidentaly. She starts up a conversation with the Kingpin of Norwood, Blake Thorne. Forty years old, black salt and pepper hair, sexy black stubble, pale green like sage green eyes. And so handsome being tall, broad and muscular. Nina pretending to be a killer for hire, as “Bunnythekiller” she pretents to consider a hit job for Blake. She’s innocent, funny, perfect in his eyes and he’s old, grumpy and morally gray, but indicting in her eyes. And yet.. they’re perfect for each other. They have finally found the soulmate they have both been missing. This is a short read, insta love, spicy romance with a sassy innocent heroine and a protective and possessive hero. Funny times like their “Third de-tea burns”😁. Thats right, have to read it to laugh with me. And of course our Maths Club is mentioned that we loved in past books. Loved this book!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

This sounded like such a cutely absurd premise I HAD to read it and it was worth it.
Bunny is a crack up, when trying to "prove" herself as an assassin she describes her kills giving descriptions of her dastardly deeds - sourced from pop culture and history which are instantly recognisable much to Blake's amusement.
Blake is growing tired of the lonliness in his "job" and longs for connection. He fell hard and fast before they even met “I would bleed for you, Bunny,” he tells me in a rough, gravelly tone.
When she refuses to meet repeatedly he tries to fill the void with a cat before realising it's Bunny he needs and he bought the cat wanting to share something with her. I fear this might have worked on me!
BunnytheKiller Attempting to lure me to my death with a kitten won’t work. Blake Are you sure?
After his repeated attempts to woo her into meeting are refused, Blake grows desperate and decides he needs to strong arm her into meeting. Although she's caught Bunny is not upset about it, her poor brother seems to be the only one who has no idea what's going on 😅
Things resolve quickly from there and we get a satisfying HEA with a lot of cute banter and an epilogue with babies.
The age gap is significant 22 & 40. No OW or OM at all. Although Blake throws her over his shoulder and stomps off she's all in. It's a cute pallet cleanser in between longer or heavier reads.

This is the third book in the *Letters in Love* series titled *Messages from the Mafia Boss* by Evie Rose. Nina is truly my kind of girl. When she finally joins the messaging app her brother wanted her to join, she is eager to create a whole new identity for herself, starting with her online name: Bunny the Killer. Unbeknownst to her, her brother has added her to a group chat full of mafia men.
Things take an exciting turn when the Kingpin himself, Blake, DMs Bunny the Killer, hiring her as an assassin. From that moment, the story between Nina and Blake gets very interesting. It doesn’t take long for Blake to discover Nina's true identity, but instead of calling her out, he is intrigued and wants to see how far she will take her charade.
Nina is fully committed to convincing Blake that she is the badass assassin she portrays—though in reality, she is not. However, as they get to know each other better, their connection deepens and strengthens. Blake becomes a supportive figure who gives Nina the confidence she has always needed.
I completely fell in love with Blake and Nina; they are the cutest, most heartfelt opposite-attract couple. Their flirty banter had me laughing out loud at times, making it a fun and easy read that I finished in one sitting!

Another excellent book by Evie Rose! The The author has an amazing way of coming up with another unique take of the London Mafia Syndicate gang and manages to make me laugh, swoon, and gasp with each fresh new version. It is amazing how she can write the Kingpins to be a combination of sweet and brutal and make it believable. In this book, the sweet and naïve virgin was Nina Brooks, also known as Bunny, the sister of Aaron Brooks, the Kingpin of Norwood’s newest employee. Aaron was an overprotective older brother, and concerned about her safety, added her to the organization’s secured messaging system. His intention was to give her a safe way to communicate on the internet, but he didn’t have permission. Nina, as a joke, and not knowing it was a mafia messaging system, chose the wrong screen name –Bunnythekiller. Blake Thorne, the Kingpin of Norwood, thought she was an assassin. Their messages back and forth had me laughing so hard I snorted.
The book was a well-written, steamy, dark, mafia, age-gap, boss/employee romance that featured a well-crafted storyline. Rose excels with character development and world building. The author’s descriptive prose is so good you feel like you are in the moment with the characters. Overall, this is another fantastic book by Rose, and I definitely recommend it.

Mafia romance. Nina is a young woman living with her brother. She has a quiet life as an accountant, a job she's not passionate about, but everything changes when her brother asks her to set up a new email account and accidentally puts her in a conversation with a London mafia boss. Luckily, she has a hidden account under the name Bunny Killer, which protects her identity. But the more she talks to Blake, the more she falls for him. However, she must be careful to protect her brother. Blake is a London mafia boss. For some time now, they've been chatting on a secure messaging app with a stranger. Unfortunately, he can't trace the conversation back to find out her identity, but the more they talk, the more he falls for her, and he'll do anything to discover who she is. Will Nina and Blake have a beautiful love story, or is their relationship destined to last only through messages…
I absolutely loved this story. Nina is a discouraged young woman going in circles in her life, and her messages bring the excitement she's been missing.

I really enjoyed this story. Nina is hilarious, sassy, innocent and a little awkward. Blake is absolutely delicious and filthy. He is also obsessed and possessive of his little Bunny. Nina is a 22 year old junior accountant. She and her brother live in a small apartment. Her brother Aaron recently got a new job but has been vague about it. He accidentally adds her to the Norwood Mafia group chat. Nina lives a boring life and this is just the excitement that she needs. Blake is the Kingpin of Norwood and immediately realizes that “Bunny the Killer” does not work for him. He is intrigued and eventually starts to message Bunny. They message back and forth where their messages lead to video chats and get spicer and spicer as the days pass. Blake must have Bunny/Nina regardless of the circumstances. Such an enjoyable read. And the things that come out of Blake’s mouth 🔥 🔥 🔥.

This book is part of a multi author Letters in Love series as well as being interconnected with the author’s own London Mafia Bosses (London Maths Club—that always cracks me up!) series. It was loads of fun with back and forth text messages between Nina, an innocent accidental assassin for hire and Blake, the morally gray boss of the Norwood Mafia. Their banter was on point and snappy with lighting quick responses that had me laughing out loud from all of it and never wanting it to end.
As we’ve come to expect from Ms. Rose (and boy did she deliver) the heat was super hot with panty melting heat and an obsessed hero who was willing to do WHATEVER it took to get his Bunny in his bed. I’m in serious lust here after reading this book, I want my own mafia boss!! 5 stars.

Page 1 and I was all in! I absolutely refused to succumb to that pesky thing called sleep!
The banter between Blake and Nina was fun and flirty and I just loved how their relationship (though unconventional) developed into a love so sweet and all consuming!
But don't be fooled, while sweet, I could literally feel the chemistry burning between them, and it was HAWT!
I love this about Evie, she has this incredible talent of making not just her characters real but the relationships between her characters literally rise right off the page and make you feel like you're a part of the story!
If this is your first Evie Rose book, settle in, I promise you it won't be your last! ... You can thank me later
Messages from the Mafia Boss by Evie Rose is part of the multi-author Letters in Love Series. This is a different style of romance as it is a somewhat modern day version (texts & video calls) epistolary between Nina & Blake. I would say about about 70% of this book is in that style. Blake has some serious skills in dïrtƴ tälƙ to Nina. 😏 It is an ägë-gäp. There is a lot of pop culture references and they have witty banter. Blake sends her chocolate fingers that are exact replicas of his hand...some parts ṣëxƴ, some parts cringe. It is insta-love on both sides, however it's wrapped in a slow burn because they do not finally physically meet until 70% into the book!! 🙄 There is an HEA and future epilogue. Book ends at 93%.
Nina is an accountant who dreams of being an author. Her brother Aaron adds her to a secure messaging app. But he unwittingly adds her to the Norwood Mafia group chat – Oops. As a joke, she changes her profile pic to a skull, and her name to BunnytheKiller. Blake Thorns is the Norwood kingpin & starts messaging the hired killer – Bunnythekiller This was so good a quick read but funny, witty & hot. Blake & Nina both fall for each other but he’s a greying forty year old & she’s a twenty two year old innocent. Their texts were priceless but got hotter & hotter, I loved how their relationship progressed. It’s different, it made me laugh & it’s steamy. Loved it
I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
Messages from the Mafia Boss is a fun Mafia novella and Nina is the FMC who gets in trouble with one MMC Blake Thorne when her brother who works for him inadvertently adds her to a group chat as Bunny the Killer. Well it doesn't take long for Blake to become totally infatuated with his Bunny which is when the fun and spice takes over. In fear of her brother getting into trouble or worse has Nina trying to keep Blake at bay but even she is beginning to fall for the kingpin due to their ongoing private chats. A good story that was nicely written with engaging characters in a delicious read! HEA to look forward to!.

Messages from the Mafia Boss is funny, flirty, filthy fun! In true Evie Rose awesomeness, rich, powerful, and lonely mafia boss Blake falls hard and fast for a sweet virgin heroine with a sassy side full of kink and flirtation. Nina is bold in how she handles the attention of the hottest guy she has ever encountered. Her naïveté allows for her sassiness to come forth in a beautiful way, and Blake’s low-key obsession with her grows with every turn of the page. I loved the combo of their two dirty minds and lonely hearts coming together so beautifully, and the way the story progresses is such light hearted mafianess. Loved this one!

I always love these stories from Evie Rose, but this one especially. I had so much fun reading it! I kicked my feet, laughed out loud, and it got me tingling all over. I absolutely loved Bunny and Blake and their text messages! Both of them feel a bit lonely and bored with their lives, and the exchange of messages between them is such a great way to make them feel alive again.
~~It’s been years since I felt a connection—no. I’ve never felt like this about anyone. The instinct to care for her, nurture her. Be as good as she needs me to be.~~
~~I lift my head, and look at her. My perfect girl. The other half of myself I didn’t know I was missing. Funny, and brave, and the joy for life I desperately needed.~~.
