An interesting book that not only explores the true nature of children but also the type of injuries that may occur from such an adventurous life and how to care for any resulting injury. Set in rhyme, each situation addresses a new type of accident and has a repeating chorus that may be used as a mantra for those into such things.

Lightly colored backgrounds and full page illustrations with anthropomorphic cartoonish animals are sure to please young readers while at the same time readers can find the pet frog on every page.

Finally the book ends with a note to adult readers on how to put the resulting situations in practice so your little one knows how to respond in similar situations.

A great book for any library whether public or private due to its attempt to teach basic first aid in an easy-to-use and understand format.

“The Ouch to Okay” is an engaging and colourful children’s book about a young koala who experiences everyday “ouches” from falling, turning her head too quickly, getting a bee sting, and other little accidents. Through each “ouch”, the koala learns that asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but a way to bounce back and keep going. This gentle story shows children that while life can be tough, they can be tougher by seeking support and moving forward. The organic, pastel-painted illustrations beautifully complement the author’s message. 🥰

a sweet rhyming book that helps children know they will be ok

The adorable illustrations help readers see and relate with the different activities kids do that can lead to “ouchies.” And kids will definitely relate to some of these accidents.
Whether it’s a splinter, or a skinned knee, children learn how to manage through the pain in moment and understand that they will be cared for by their grownups.

An important lesson for young children

Ouch to Okay is a great book for children and caregivers that teaches kids how to deal with minor scrapes and ‘boo boo’s which happen to everyone from time to time. It’s important for children to learn this sort of resilience at an early age, as this will help them bounce back from more challenging set-backs as adults.

Reading this with my niece was a really nice moment. The rhyme is calm and steady, the illustrations are beautiful, and it turns small mishaps into something manageable. It’s one of those books that just makes everything feel okay.
