“This will not be our end,” he said firmly, possibly as if he were trying to convince himself. "You are my temptation. Now let me be yours."
Sashki was born in one century, but she loves in another. And time will not let her go.
When Sashki awakens in Paris, 1891, inside the body of a stranger and without her magic, she knows only one she must find her way back to Carserae – to the prince who holds her heart, and to the kingdom that cannot withstand the rising magic of the Damned without her. But to return, she must bind her soul to another, who promises her passage through time, but at a dangerous price.
As past and present blur, Sashki is forced to question who she is, what she is willing to risk, and whether love can truly endure across centuries.
This Sword of Hadrian novel is a tale of magic, longing, and destiny with some spice – where souls are tethered and hearts are tested across time.

A fun romantasy novel with a time travel twist. This is book two of a series, I did not read book one however I was able to quickly get into the story and characters. There isn't a lot of magic in this book but the bit we see is fun and interesting. I liked the love interests, there is some smut for smut readers but not a lot. I know book three is releasing soon and I am excited to continue this series with the big changes at the end of this book.
I really enjoyed this fast paced romantasy story. It focused on Sashki, the leader of the Blessed (good magic users) who wakes up 700 years in the future (1800s)...in someone else's body! She is able to go back to her own time (1145) with the help of Claude, a time traveling MMC. Once back in her own time- Sashki is caught in a love triangle between Claude and the Prince Emmery. There are some amazing sloooow burn moments between Sashki and Claude and I love a good slow burn! (Also, I'm most definitely team Claude). Overall, this story was a fun, fantasy- romantic read and I really loved the way the storytelling was written. This is the second book in this series. I am SO excited and ready for the third book- The Dynasty of the Damned!
This is great for readers who love: Love triangles Time travel Slow burn
This romantasy was such a captivating read. The mix of time travel, magic, and romance pulled me in right away, and I loved how the story kept an emotional intensity throughout. The writing felt immersive, and the world had a rich, almost dreamlike quality that made it easy to get lost in.
The romance is definitely a highlight—full of tension, longing, and meaningful connections that feel bigger than just one lifetime. There’s also a nice balance of plot and “spice,” without either one overpowering the other.
If you’re into time-bending love stories, fate-driven relationships, and magical worlds with a slightly darker edge, this is one I’d definitely recommend. Add it to your TBR list now!!
“I exist in two places. Here, and where you are.” -Margaret Atwood 😍😍
✨I read The Soul Tetherer as an ARC and as a standalone *without reading Book 1 ‘The Sword of Hadrian’*. I did not have any issues reading it this way but I am intrigued and will likely circle back to Book 1 now (gotta love my chaotic approach to life 🤣). ✨It had a very character driven story line and it kept me engaged and wanting to read more!
✨In this book our FMC Sashki is thrust from her time in the 1100s into a 1890s world where she feels completely lost and alone; she is on an emotional rollercoaster as this journey takes place and you ride it right along with her! She is extremely relatable and you can feel her emotions through Salome’s writing, you just want to hug her and comfort her at times! Even early on you get a sense of who she is DEEP down and can tell that she is going to be FIERCE!
✨As she is thrown forward in time, Sashki sees the difference in the treatment of women and how it evolved over the 700 year time gap; women go from being able to own land/businesses and command the household, to not being allowed to go anywhere without an escort and be the accessories of men whom they have to defer to in everything — this is not at all who Sashki is!
✨She challenges this some while she is there and truly develops a character that you want to cheer for and be like “You go girl, put them in their place!” This is also scarily relatable to things that we go through in our own time/reality, where at times you will look back and see that there were more freedoms and liberties in previous era’s than you currently have!
✨We are then introduced to our two MMCs, Claude and Emmery, who could not be MORE different!! Sashki herself compares them as one having “Temptation and Fire” vs the other “Passion and Softness”. 🙌🏻 and this just sums it up perfectly!!
✨Claude, who is our morally gray MMC that we learn to love despite his less than ideal past, has harbored a secret since the moment he first met Sashki. The banter and character interaction between Claude and Sashki was so lively and the TENSION and Yearningggg🔥🥵 it was fantastic! ✨“Only time will tell. I am a patient man, Sashki. I will wait for you, for we have all of eternity to live. And one day, we may choose to end this life together.”✨
✨Then there’s Emmery — *sigh* what to say about Emmery, he is the MMC you know you probably SHOULD root for, but the vibes that he gives off throughout just hold you back, his character is immature and childish — I honestly lost count of the number of times the boy broke down crying 🥴🤣 He is not supportive of Sashki at all and is more concerned with his own feelings, he didn’t even realize something was “off” with her in the beginning for MONTHS!!
Some of the Tropes you can expect: 💫 Time Travel/Dual Timeline 💫 Love/Longing across centuries 💫 Love Triangle 💫 Spicy 🌶️ 💫 Forbidden Magic 💫 Forbidden Love
✨Overall 4.5 stars 🌟 a fantastic Romantasy (that wasn’t overly heavy on the romance!), Characters that you fall in love with and WANT to root for ❤️ and the suspense kept me hooked until the end! 🔍 ✨ “You are my temptation. Now let me be yours.”✨
My only criticism for this book is that even with it being written in 3rd person POV it felt like it would switch POV or Scene mid page or paragraph at times and I kept finding myself doing a double take because we would be on a different day/different location/opposite POV. Of course this could also be because I was reading on kindle, spacing may be different on paper and flow differently 🤷🏻♀️ I feel maybe just a paragraph separation with a fancy little squiggle in between to signal a scene change or switch of POV would have eliminated any confusion! Not a huge thing!!
5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Read this as a standalone in prep for the ARC. Will go back and read Book 1 as well. Ok, How do I begin? Chloelia has really done it for me. HAHA. Let's begin. First, waking up in a different body? Ummm, Excuse me? Not having the magic you were born with? Ummm, WHAT? Wanting both of the men in my life and having to choose? How bout, no, I don't want to choose. LOL
Sashki is torn between the life she was taken away from and the man (Claude) that promises to bring her back, as long as she does something for him. And this is where it all starts. Or so, you think! I find it incredibly hard to tell you all the things I enjoyed in this book, without spoiling it. But, here are some of the things: Sibling Rivalry Forbidden magic Tethering souls. This was a selling point for me. I love it when characters need to make these decisions and the consequences that accompany these. The love triangle. I truly enjoyed that our FMC has to go through this emotional struggle. It was very well written too. The spice is just the right amount. Emmery, our prince, has fallen to a rouse and now Sashki will need to prove to the prince that this rouse is to spy on him. Can Sashki prove this? Will she be able to give Claude what he is after? Will she be able to choose, or will she keep this triangle alive?
I am really looking forward to book 3 and how the story evolves. Thank you again Chloelia.
Absolutely fantastical read! The time travelling aspect of this story was so clever and so interesting. It made the plot so enchanting and gripping.
The whole story had me whipped up with excitement. I absolutely idolise Sashki, she is one bad@ss woman! I really feel for her with being torn between two devastating men. Oh the choice!! 🤣
I cannot wait for the next book as I’m so ready to find out how this all plays out between the three of them.
I was completely pulled back into this world and this book had me so emotionally invested from the start. The tension, drama, romance, and adventure were all so good, and I loved getting to see the characters develop even more. The chemistry and emotional moments had me completely hooked, and so many scenes had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what would happen next. Such an exciting romantasy sequel and that ending definitely left me needing the next book immediately 😭📚
I am so glad I read book 2! I was right, it was written so much better! The sequel is definitely better! Also..this book is a hotmess full of DRAMA!! So is my review, enjoy!!
Ok....that being said. I HATE Emmery!! The whole wedding night fiasco. He is selfish and uncaring as long as he gets what he wants. He is like..."I dont care Sashki has magic, I would DIE for her....and if the King knew, she would be executed..but thats ok..because he will never find out..I am going to marry her..now I am saying my vows...oh Sashki's eyes look empty. But she is so pretty. And now we married. Im going to kiss her. Oh she mumbled something. Who cares...Im horny. Oh...finished...but her eyes do not show she is passionate at all....maybe I should ask her if she enjoyed it...oh I do not like her answer at all...but oh well it has been a busy day..she is probably just overwhelmed so who cares. "
Like basically Emmery's entire eternal monologue just pissed me off. Which is honestly ok. Because as a reader I either want a reason to love someone, root for them, or hate them..as a reason to keep reading. And hating on Emmery...is definitely a reason...now skip forward 700 years and we have Mr Hansel. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Just ewwwwww. The author does a great job of giving us readers the ick.
So...Sashki becomes Geneveive in the 1800s..and realizes her sole purpose is to marry 'up.' She cannot own property or have a purpose, she can only socialize as a woman. This is very hard on a woman who once battled her own evil twin brother with magic in order to save her realm. Now she is wearing corsets and forced to dance with icky boy childs who think they are men, but are way to feminine. At least her 'dad' listened to her on Hansel being not appropriate for her, at first, and allowing her an opportunity to choose a suitable choice with his approval before he decided for her.
And then there is Claude! I love Claude! Although the crying thing is cringe..but seriously...everyone needs a flaw right?!! He is supportive, does exactly what she needs him to do, and respects her..and is observant. He would never fall for the 'fake' Sashki.
So I cannot wait to read book 3! I really feel like this is similar to Caroline B Cooneys "Out of Time" series..or even Diana Gabaldons "Outlander" series. Where the FMC has found a love..she truly thinks she is meant to be with...but then finds herself displaced in time and found her soulmate..then finds she must choose to be with her first love in her og time in order to fulfill some kind of duty. I do hope Sashki and Claude are endgame! Because Emmery sucks a$$. He did not even realize he was sleeping with a "doll" and that his "love" was missing. Or maybe he did not care. I just HATE him!
Definitely a 4 star for me. Which is the HARDEST of ratings for me to give. Even more so then a 5 star. Most of the books I read, I do enjoy, but are just average. This book Exceeded my expectations..and I found myself craving more....and having to wait until book 3 to find a resolution really hurts me!
Again I read this book SOLELY for the Author! Who is so kind, and passionate about her story! That she didnt mind chatting to me for quite a bit on instagram! I did read the Sword of Hadrian 1st and it took me nearly a month, it felt like such a chore to read, I did enjoy the book, but it was very hard to read. Soul Tetherer, I read in 1 sitting!! Stayed up until 4am to finish. This is why you do not start books at midnight!! So FREAKING GOOD. PAGE TURNER! ❤️
Thank you Chloelia Salome for letting me be part of your street team and getting an e-arc!!

The Soul Tetherer is a time-bending fantasy adventure that follows Sashki, a strong-willed and outspoken protagonist who finds herself mysteriously transported into another time — specifically the 1890s — and inhabiting a different body. As she navigates this unfamiliar world, she must piece together what happened, why she was sent there, and how to move forward while balancing danger, intrigue, and shifting alliances.
Although the book is intended to be a standalone companion to The Sword of Hadrian, I did find the beginning a bit confusing without having read the first installment. More background and context would have helped ground the story and made the transition into this world smoother. The pacing also felt slow at the start, and it took me about a quarter of the book to really get invested.
That said, once Claude enters the picture, the story picks up significantly. The plot becomes more engaging, the stakes feel clearer, and the reading experience speeds up in a satisfying way. From that point on, it becomes a compelling adventure with strong character dynamics.
Sashki is a standout — passionate, bold, and determined, making her easy to root for throughout her journey. However, I did wish for more clarity around key elements of the story, particularly how and why Sashki was transported to this specific time period, and why she ended up in that particular body.
Overall, this is an imaginative and engaging read once it gets going, but it would benefit from stronger setup to truly function as a standalone. I’m giving it 3 out of 5 stars. Thank you to the author for the ARC!
This is one of those stories where the characters truly carry the weight! Let me just say that Sashki absolutely does 🔥 Being thrown into a totally different time, watching her try to make sense of it all while feeling out of place, alone, and overwhelmed… you cant help but feel everything she is experiencing. Sashki has a lot of depth which I believe is why she is so likable and potentially relatable.
Now let’s talk MMCs…
Claude: The tension. The restraint. The longing. He’s giving off that morally gray, patient, “I’ll wait for you across lifetimes” vibe, and I was here for it and completely hooked. Not going to lie he is what I envisioned 🔥
Emmery… I felt was complex and therefore I don’t think he would resonate with a lot of people. That being said you have to give him the chance. I did like him and could see his attraction 🔥
I loved this story and the plot which if that isn’t enough to draw you in then the characters sure will!! Between the tension and the love triangle it will leave you craving more! 😍
I know this review is long overdue, but I was so thankful to receive an ARC of The Soul Tetherer before release, and I finally got to share my thoughts 🤍
This fast-paced romantasy blends historical fiction, magic, and intense romance in a way that completely exceeded my expectations. I’m usually not a fan of time travel or love triangles, but this book completely won me over ✨
One of my favorite parts was the unique take on time travel, which kept me constantly engaged and curious about what would happen next. Sashki’s story pulled me in right away, especially the tension and constant uncertainty of who she could trust 😉 Her character development felt so natural, especially seeing her navigate such different worlds and expectations while still holding onto herself.
With suspense, swoony moments, and emotional romance, this was such an immersive read 🖤 Even though this is the second book in an interconnected series, I had no trouble following along without reading the first book — but I’ll definitely be going back to read it at some point.
I dived into this book without reading the first in the series which I may have to go back & read at some point as it was slightly confusing to begin without the backstory of some of the characters but once I got into the story I was hooked!😍 I absolutely adore Sashki, I love how she was so determined to find out how she had ended up in a different time when she belonged further back in the past, at first I thought Claude was an arrogant SOB but I soon came to love his little ways & it really had me questioning whether I liked Claude or Emmery more🫣 I cannot wait for thr 3rd book to come out😍💜
This was such a fun book to read. It is the second book in the Sword of Hadrian series. I read book one before starting this to go into it with a little more background. Yes, it can read as a standalone, but I liked having a little more backstory for the characters. The time travel storyline was very well done. Lots of details that pulled you right into the time period which was such a contrast to book one. The book just kept getting better as it went along. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the lives of these characters.
I really enjoyed The Soul Tetherer by Chloelia Salome. One of the standout elements for me was how uniquely the story handles time travel—not just moving through time, but weaving across different timelines in a way that feels fresh and engaging.
Even though this is book two in the series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. I didn’t feel lost, and the story does a great job of pulling you in and giving enough context to follow along.
The pacing kept me interested, and I found myself intrigued by the world.
I read this as a standalone without reading Sword of Hadrian. I don’t think it hindered my ability to understand the story, but I do wish I had read book 1 first because I think it would have helped me feel more connected to the characters and Sashki’s journey. Claude is impeccable though, so I started to lock in more once he showed up! Overall I thought this was a really fun romantasy and the author is clearly very talented and passionate about this story, so I’m looking forward to reading the next book!
You can tether my soul to Claude’s any day!😍 So much happened in this book and it’s a really good set-up for book 3. This book was a 5⭐️ read for me.
I felt myself getting captivated and spent a few of those late nights with the excuse of, “Just one more chapter.” Even without reading the first book, I was able to understand what was going on, and I like how in this case, the timelines were separate and easy to follow. The atmosphere was well done, like I could almost picture myself in a 1891’s Paris.
You could really feel the FMC’s struggle to adapt to her new time. I liked how Shaski, the FMC, took into account the consequences of her actions especially in Paris. Claude is just my new book boyfriend! The author made it understandable on how she could love both men for their own reasons (Even though for me, I had my favorite 😆)
I like the magic and thought the soul tethering was neat, as well as the concept around moving through the timelines. So much happened throughout this book, and I believe it’s done a lot to make book three potentially amazing. Even though reading just this book I felt satisfied, I’m definitely reading book 3 and will probably go back to book 1 too.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️ Yes Kindle Unlimited: ✅ Recommend to my Book Bestie: Yes!! ARC Review
I read this as a standalone and didn't have to much trouble falling into the world Chloelia created. The beginning was a tad slow and didn't pull me in right away but I'm glad I continued reading. I enjoyed Sashki character and reading as she navigated her new world in Paris . I think we can all agree we loved Claude. I also liked the soul tethering concept. looking foward to book 3
This book pulled me in with just the prologue. I was hooked immediately. I did not read book one but was able to understand and connect with characters and the story. It was fast paced and kept my interest the whole book. Loved the time travel aspect in it. I’m so ready to start book 3
I read this as an ARC reader and am grateful for the opportunity. I read this book before Sword of Hadrian and had no issue diving into the story or the characters (this actually made me want to read Sword of Hadrian next). I liked the concept of soul-tethering combined with a unique magic system that dates to the dark Medieval ages. I immediately bought into the relationship between Sashki and Claude, and was pretty disappointed when they returned to their own time. The story ended in a way that makes me excited for the next book. I have no idea what Sashki is going to do, and that's what's keeping me on my toes.
I'd highly recommend this book to someone who likes time travel, flavors of magic (but not overly focused on magic), and a love triangle where you clearly root for one but don't know what the FMC is going to do. The spice is there, but not as much as I was expecting. I'm hoping for more in the next book!
I'm in a love and hate relationship with this book!! So I haven't read the first book, Sword of Hadrian; the author has mentioned herself it is not necessary in order to read The Soul Tetherer, and I agree with that. At no point of the story was I confused, the big events of the first book were very nicely incorporated and flowed with the story. I liked that a lot.
When it comes to this story, I'll focus on what I liked and didn't very much liked.
First off, this story truly hold potential! And in just 370 pages, I felt like I read a lot more, and that is due to story being divided into two parts, in Paris in 1880-ies and in Carserae in 1140-ies or so. The part in Paris, I thoroughly enjoyed, especially when Claude entered the scene. Their connection felt destined. He was able to recognize Sashki in a different body completely and find her spanning centuries, whereas at the beginning of this book, we have Prince Emmery with the fake princess, who was not questioning her different behavior and very much different personality. Not to mention the ick of their wedding night.
Now, when back in Carserae, I was a bit disappointed in Sashki with her urge to go back to prince Emmery, and at the same time not wanting to let go of Claude. She has developed feelings, and I understand at the beginning she was still holding onto the connection with Emmery from the past, however, as the time and events were passing, she was claiming she wanted both of them, and that is my biggest problem. I generally don't mind the love triangle, but not this kind. This kind of love triangle I genuinely have a problem with. Simply because, she can't seem to choose, she wants both of them and that just immediately paints her personality in my mind as indecisive, selfish, manipulative and egoistic, with no respect towards either of the men. This may be the point of the story, to present her as a such character, however that is not my cup of tea.
I'd also mention soul tethering. I found that to be amazing part of the story!! That process created even deeper connection between her and Claude, creating almost that fated mates trope. And that's why I think the story had so much potential. If only this love traingle was done a little bit more on a slow burn side.
Nevertheless, I am truly hopeful for the third book, I do feel there will be a lot in store for all three of them. I am definitely team Claude and I am hoping to see development of their connection in the third and final book.

I read this as an ARC , without reading Sword of Hadrian ( Book 1) as this was described as being able to be a standalone.
The prologue had me a bit confused, at first I wondered for a bit if it could truly be a standalone given that feeling , but it turns out the disconnect I felt between and with the characters is later explained, so retrospectively that made sense afterwards.
This story is told as a single POV, with multiple timelines (insequence, not jumping back and forth between chapters like Addie LaRue for example). Maybe because of not having a familiarity with Sashki, her arc felt like it needed more details, more understanding behind her struggles and what she was experiencing in the first few chapters? Not sure but in the beginning it was like she was not a solid fixture for me, she was going through the motions... perhaps that was intentional to add to the shift in timeline she experienced? Given what we know about Sashki as the story evolves it seems to me she would have been more "active" in seeking answers somehow...
Claude, however? Love him. From the moment he was on the page, lol it was just that simple.
Overall I enjoyed the story, and just wished for a little more depth in specific moments - where there is a fair amount of detail of the world, environment and where the characters are, I wanted more depth from the experience they were having. I really liked the concept of soul tethering and hope the rest of the story goes into that more. The story kept my attention immediately once Claude was around - and it left me wanting to know what comes next.
This book is the second in a series, but the author describes it as being able to read as a standalone as well. There’s time travel, love interests, and it’s definitely a really creative concept. I didn’t read The sword of Hadrian, so for me I was reading this as a standalone. I got the gist of what happened before but I also wish some things were a little more detailed because I felt like I was definitely missing a couple of pieces to a puzzle.
The characters’ relationships also were lacking a bit of intimacy and depth without 1st person POV (but that just might be my personal preference- I prefer reading 1st person POV rather than 3rd person to feel more connected to the characters). I loved the plot, although I it felt a bit rushed. I think it was overall pretty good— I don’t think I would go back to read it again, but it was interesting enough for me to want to read the next book when it comes out to see what ultimately happens with the plot.
I might recommend these books for someone who’s interested in historical romance/ romantasy since it’s a quick read/ good palate cleanser (although I’m not sure how the first book is since I haven’t read it).
Overall I give it 3/5 stars, and maybe 1.5 🌶️ on the spicy scale (very quick intimate scenes, not quite fade to black but not much depth— a little rushed). I’m looking forward to seeing how the author concludes the story!! I’m definitely left with some questions and I’m interested in seeing how she can answer all of them as the story progresses.
If you are looking for a book that combines choosing between love and duty and family and passion then you should check this series out. Having the FMC wake up in a different body and timeline right from the start pushes you right into the story. From there you follow her journey in getting back to her correct timeline, but facing the struggles of what she may have to give up. The immediate jump into the story took just a little time to adjust but by a couple chapters in the pacing set itself for the rest of the story. I did enjoy the concept of time bending and how two different timelines could change what destiny could mean for the characters. This is book 2 with book 3 releasing later on so I am excited to see where the story takes us.
What an easy read. I really enjoyed the characters and was rooting for them throughout the entire book. Sashki is such a great character and I felt everything with her. Claude well he's the kinda guy most girls want. He is going to wait until Sashki is ready. I received an advance review copy at no cost and am leaving this review voluntarily. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
4.5 stars!! I enjoyed this one immensely. When I first saw time travel and romance I was ready to dive in and this book didn’t disappoint. The love triangle between Claude, Emmery and Sashki is well written. The spicy parts are done in good taste and don’t take away from the plot! I am patiently waiting for book 3.
