For the sake of her people, Seraphina risked her life.
But to save the world, she will have to risk the man she loves.
Exiled and outnumbered, Seraphina de la Croix and Aldric Hargrave stand as sovereigns in name alone. Their thrones lie in enemy hands. Their allies are dwindling.
Still, they refuse to yield.
But when divine revelation unveils a great evil that threatens to consume not only Elmoria but the entire world, reclaiming their crowns becomes the least of their concerns.
Because now the fate of all Avirel hangs in the balance.
As heaven and earth tremble and the final battle looms, Seraphina and Aldric must face a choice more harrowing than any they have yet endured–to trust in the Lord and His plans, no matter the cost.
Not even if that cost is each other.
Dive back into the epic Christian fantasy world of Avirel for this breathtaking conclusion of Seraphina de la Croix's journey of faith, love, and trusting in God no matter how dire the circumstances might seem. Described by readers as the "Christian Game of Thrones," this series is perfect for fans of Lord of the Rings who crave a side of clean romance alongside their epic fantasy and Christian themes.
Ashley Willingham is a Christian, wife, mother of two, and an author of clean books. She enjoys writing high-stakes plots, swoony romances, and stories free from explicit content. When she's not busy writing, she can be found in the kitchen pursing her second passion—baking. She currently lives in Arkansas with her family and one very fluffy dog.
I really enjoyed this trilogy and especially appreciated its emphasis on spiritual warfare and Scripture throughout. Watching the characters grow and face challenges over the course of the series was fantastic.
There were a few areas where I wished for more detail, particularly with some side characters’ stories I was invested in. It felt like a few pieces were missing, but perhaps those stories will be explored in the next series set in this world (not talking about the MCs that have already been announced for the next series-obviously, I wouldn’t expect their particular stories to feel complete yet). The third book felt a bit anticlimactic after the craziness of the first two books.
Overall, this still remains one of my go-to recommendations for Christian fantasy. The writing is engaging, the faith elements are encouraging, and the cast of characters is wonderfully diverse. I can definitely see myself revisiting this series in the future.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’m a big fan of Ashley Willingham and her books, especially this series!
I thought she wrapped up this storyline nicely, and I appreciated the spiritual warfare depicted in this final book, and the character growth and redemption.
I can’t wait for the story to continue! She’s announced another trilogy set in this world. I am hoping that we get a bit more closure for some of the other characters through the upcoming books, as I’m quite attached now!
Content: No spice No cursing Some violence (not graphic)
A King of Crows is the third and final book in the War of Crowns Trilogy. This one was so fast paced, and I loved all of the action and battle scenes! It really is like a Christian Game of Thrones!
The romance was so sweet and I loved that the book included so many encouraging Christian themes without being cheesy or awkward!
This is a really great trilogy! Ashley Willingham is the Christian Fantasy Romance author of my dreams, and I will definitely read the rest of her books!
This was a fantastic end to the battle Seraphina and Aldric had to face. Still so much character building and development, fulfilling the plot seamlessly. Ashley did a wonderful job with this tale and I’m excited to hear that there’s more coming.
Sera and Aldric had to find the balance that was needed between them to face the Enemy. So much grace and forgiveness was weaved into this tale. I am so glad that I finally read this series, I need to buy the physical books so I can read them again!
Okay, after sleeping on this ending, I have come to realize that my initial thoughts were a little short. This ending was good and I understand that she’s making another trilogy after this but there are a few unanswered questions. Also, the final battle with the Enemy seemed anticlimactic, I wish there had been a little more to the Lightbearer part of the tale. Otherwise, a wonderful trilogy.

Review Love love this story so much. Seraphina and Aldric really go through so much along with their friends and the people that they need to save from the evil one. Throughout the story you can see that they all rely on God and pray that they won’t be tempted by the evil voice that kept on tempting them to do not what God wants them to do.
Olivia is trying her best to help Seraphina in her own way and she is revealing her secret that she kept from her for a very long time while Tiberius kind of work with her to help to defeat the witch that is controlling the Duke of Coreto. Can’t spoil too much of the story and I still don’t really like Tiberius. Haha…
Though the moments of Olivia and Tristan are just very little but still love this couple very much.
Love Seraphina and Aldric work together to save the world and also him being honest with her about his vision and at times she did keep a secret from him because she doesn’t want him to be worried about her and also forbid her to fight alongside with him. (Can’t spoil it you will have to read to find out)
This story made me smile, cry, swoon and can see that God is working in their lives.
What I learn? That God is always right beside us never leaving us. He is always there to guide us. And no matter who we are He can use us to carry out his plans. We don’t have to be afraid or discouraged because He is with us wherever we go. He also doesn’t look at outer appearances what He looks is in the heart no matter what size we are. And always remember to rely on Him and trust Him.
God gives each and everyone the time to repent from our sins just like there is a part in this story that God gives the people time to repent and even there are lots of example in the Bible and also even now God is giving time for people to repent because He loves us. So, we need to continue to share the gospel to the people around us who still don’t know Jesus.
Forgiveness. It is hard to forgive the people who had wrong us but God forgives no matter how sinful the person is. God forgives us and we should do the same even though they are unlovable.
If you like the feel of medieval times, magic and war of kingdoms this is a book for you. It is a trilogy and you need to read it from the 1st book to understand the whole story. And also there is a prequel of the love story between Seraphina’s godparents.
I was gifted complimentary ARC. All opinions are my own. Thanks to @ashleywillinghamauthor for the ARC.
You can purchase this book on Amazon and it is available on KU.
What a way to end Seraphina's and Aldric's story (at least for the moment. I have a feeling they may return in the future.). Action, romance, hard decisions, enduring faith even when they faltered. I loved it.
The third book wrapped up a lot of the major threads of the story, but thank goodness there will be a fourth book because Willingham definitely left a few things hanging.
I'm so excited to revisit this series in the future just to see what I missed in my first read-through.
A fantastic ending to the trilogy! I really enjoyed this book. This story has been intense from the start of book one. The journey both main characters go through is tough and amazing to watch. It is told in multiple viewpoints but mainly from the FMC and MMC. It is a no-spice fantasy with strong Christian faith values. The world seems to be set in medieval times with a lot of fantasy elements and it is easy to follow. I highly recommend this book!
What a fast paced, action filled finale to this trilogy!
Ashley came out with a bang and got down to business. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Aldric’s growth in this book and his trust in the Lord. The overall themes of redemption, spiritual growth and trust were beautifully woven into the story.
This was a satisfying ending to Aldric and Seraphina’s story and I am so so so excited to see where the next trilogy takes Hedley and Talia.
I have so thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy. I love this author’s writing in world building. At no point did I know what was going to happen next and I found myself glued to the adventure. I truly enjoyed how she weaves the gospel throughout her books, and I love her transparency in the author’s notes. I am so excited to hear that there will be another book set in the same world. I’m looking forward to reading more!
I enjoyed this series and the conclusion. Enjoyable to read but also missed some segments of the story which were never concluded. What happened to Hedley? The storyline just disappeared and was never resolved. Felt this way about a few of the storylines, as if the last of the story was rushed to conclude. Overall good but rushed.
The final book in this trilogy did not disappoint! I loved Aldric's redemption story and I loved reading his POV! The faith threads throughout the whole book were so good and done in a artful way. The ending was very satisfying. However, I was glad to hear that the author has plans to write more books in this world!!! This trilogy is a must read!
A beautifully crafted ending to a great series. I am not one for fantasy but this series definitely put it higher up in my interest level. Good vs evil - good overcoming, and the truth of the enemy we fight. Let the light of God shine through each of us to overcome the lies of the devil. I will definitely be reading more by Ashley Willingham!
What a perfect conclusion to this series. Everything came together so beautifully, and it left me feeling completely satisfied. I’m not ready to say goodbye to these characters—and I can’t wait to read more of Hadley’s story!
Sera and Aldric grew so much through this series and I loved the way it ended (except for not knowing what happens with a few characters but it sounds like Ashley Willingham will write a seperate series for them). I'm here for it! This series was the first experience I've had with this author but it won't be the last.
