Amber Thorne is no Southern Belle. She’s sassy, curvy and clumsy.
When her father gives her an ultimatum — get a job or marry someone — she really only has one option:
To find work in one of the many saloons on the main street in the little Texan village.
Once again, her clumsiness gets her in trouble, and she finds herself forced to reluctantly agree to model half-nude for the good-looking and talented young artist, Joe Knight.
Soon she’s facing a danger much higher than losing her heart: Joe risks execution for a crime he didn’t commit.
I was fortunate to win an electronic copy of this book in a recent giveaway on Librarything and this is my honest review.
I enjoyed this book and it did keep me turning the pages, but just something about the book that I couldn't give the extra star. Loved the romance aspect and the twists, but did guess what the twist would be before I had finished the book. I would like to read more books by this author.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I first chose this book, but I did find it engaging enough to keep reading well past my bedtime. The plot has some clever twists and turns and the romantic side of the story really connected with me. The book could use a bit of polishing in terms of social norms for the era in which it is supposed to take place, but then again, I'm not expecting Wuthering Heights in a Kindle book.
This book is about a girl named Amber whose father wants to remarry. Consequently he asks her to move out. She meets a painter and becomes his model. Later she ends up solving a murder. A quick and pleasant read!
