๐ A missing bride. A city of secrets. And one night in New Orleans where desire is as dangerous as the dark. Mardi Gras is chaos โ music, masks, and bodies pressed too close โ but when the bride disappears after a tarot reading, the celebration turns into a nightmare. The police wave me off, but I refuse to let her vanish into the crowd. That's when I find Ronan LeBlanc, a private investigator with a jaw like a locked door and a gaze that makes my pulse stumble. He doesn't want this case. He doesn't want me at his side. Yet from the crowded parades to the hush of the cemeteries, I can feel the heat between us rising faster than the stakes.
I know this city. Its parades hide predators, its masks hide lies, and its nights are thick with secrets. A missing bride during Mardi Gras is bad enough โ but Violet Jameson is trouble in heels, and she's not letting go until she has answers. She drags me through the Quarter's darkest corners, where nothing is what it seems and the truth keeps slipping out of reach. She's reckless. She's relentless. And under the spell of Bourbon Street lights, wanting her might be the one risk I can't outrun.

Anneeeeeeee I was so excited for this. New Orleans and a hot PI, the fun of a missing persons case, some voodooโฆ.but it was just a bit unbalanced for me. I felt like we spent a lot of time building up to the disappearance and then after a few hours of searching, BAM we are clothes-off. It seemed too rushed for me this time, with instalust that sort of appeared from nowhere.
What did work was the vivid descriptions of the city, of Mardi Gras, of the food and the streets. That was fantastic. And the mystery was also good. I hung in there for the resolution.
I still love you! Hoping for recovery in your upcoming ARC!
A different feel to this story. Tracking down a missing friend - beautiful descriptions of all the senses - sights, sounds, feels, smells. Well done! And then the story - the characters - the steam. A great escape! ๐๐๐๐๐๐
New Orleans.Mardi Gras. Loud music. Food. A carnival celebration.โ๏ธ๐ถ๐บ๐ถ๐ท๐ฅ๐ถ๐บโ๏ธ Architecture. Culture. Even some voodoo mystique. I love that there was mention of Ms Marie Laveau's resting place.๐ฅ๐ฏ๏ธ๐ฅ Not fully, but I caught it. All of that was great.๐ฅณ๐ฅณ๐ฅณ
But there were hiccups.
This short story brings that lively landscape with mystery, which was easy to solve๐ต๐ปโโ๏ธ, during a bachelorette party going in the wrong direction.๐๐ฅ๐ฟ It started well enough, the ladies out partying, having drinks, even tarot reads with Madam Rue. The mood was there. But once the bride Peyton went missing, after the read from Rue, Violet Jameson, friend and event planner, went on the search for her. This woman went out alone after midnight in the French Quarter with less than 10% battery life on her phone.๐ง๐ชซ Are you looking for trouble?๐ฅ๐ฅ She goes and finds PI Roman LeBlanc to help her. This was where the story began to lose its trajectory for me. I know there was going to be adult interactions between these 2, but less than a day together? Short book, I know. Let's build it up. The focus was to find a lead on Peyton, right?๐คทโโ๏ธ Violet didn't seem too worried. To be fair, Violet and Roman didn't banter, didn't flirt, there was no chemistry. There was no character development, no cuteness, no history shared, no real reason of why should they spend the night together. It fell.. flat. For me, as a reader.
Question(s). Why didn't Violet communicate with the other ladies waiting for her at the hotel when there was information to share? Why didn't Roman go and speak with them for information from that night? Maybe there was a clue. Why didn't Violet go change her clothes, she stayed with Roman for 2 days?๐ฌ Violet didn't follow up with the cops after 24hrs. And nobody told the groom anything.๐ Why did Violet have to touch everything?๐ซณ๐ป๐ซ
I enjoyed the slight mystery, the world that is New Orleans, but everything else was mismatched. As for Peyton, girl, you need to be an adult and take responsibility for your actions.๐ซก I like the book cover. It's very festive.๐ญ Shout out to a certain black cat that had no name but watched everything.๐ If I may, I will call her Midnight.๐โโฌ If you want to read this book, you should. I hope you enjoy it. Happy reading.*โข>ยง<โข*โ๏ธโ๏ธ๐๐๐โ๏ธโ๏ธ

Voodoo And Veils by Annee Jones is part of the multi author series Bachelorettes of Bourbon St. and was a good read. As a opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, protector and suspense romance it is ideal for an afternoon or evening escape. The plot and storyline with its combination of mystery, suspense and drama had me hooked quickly. Violet is in New Orleans during Mardi Gras as the organiser of her friends bachelorette party when the bride goes missing. Circumstances lead Violet to the door of former police detective now private investigator Ronan in the middle of the night where mutual attraction sparks. Through the sights and sounds of Mardi Gras where they both retrace the bride's steps and chase down leads, an intense awareness of each other grows and their chemistry sizzles. Steamy and spicy moments of desire feed a deeper connection between Ronan and Violet and they see that each other fills something missing from themselves which all contributes to a well written story that had me turning pages right through to the very end to see how they get their HEA.

Violet has played an integral part in helping her best friend plan her wedding which included her bachelorette party in New Orleans. Everything was going according to plan until a reading from a fortune teller leads to the disappearance of the bride and now Violet needs to find her without alarming the groom.
Ronan is a private investigator who was intending to ignore Violetโs knock at his door until he realized how thorough she was when it came to the details of what happened. They now find themselves working together, trying to uncover the truth while dealing with the feelings they are developing for each other.
The chemistry and connection between Violet and Ronan is undeniable as their investigation is filled with intrigue and surprises that are sure to keep you entertained.
The magic of Mardi Gras hides shadows, secrets and the truths nobody wants to face
A Bachelorette celebration at Mardi Gras brings more truth than Violet expected and a passion she never knew she had. For Ronan, Violet is the perfect chaos he has always avoided, but he cannot avoid Violet, cannot say no...he can only help her find the answers she needs. I really like Vi and Ronan, but I love them together, he calms her busy brain and shows her another way...more, she yanks him from his isolation, his safety and helps him to live again. It's a serious and potentially heartbreaking case they are working, but that doesn't stop the chemistry or the passion that explodes off the page. A steamy read on Kindle Unlimited.
A quick read that mixes a little mystery with romance but fell short for me.
Violet travels to New Orleans with her friends to celebrate Peyton's engagement but when the bride-to-be mysteriously vanishes after a tarot reading, Violet roams New Orleans until she is pointed towards Ronan, a private investigator. There is an instant attraction but the pair focus on Peyton and unraveling where she went.
I felt like the spicy scenes were just put in there and not necessary. I mean, you're distressed about your friend but not enough where you can't get some action? Mmkay then.
I liked Frankie (one of the bridesmaid) and the fortune teller Rue irritated me but she was at least interesting.
Mardi Gras romance. Violet is a young woman who has come to New Orleans for her friend's bachelorette party. She certainly didn't expect to find herself investigating the disappearance of her friend, the groom-to-be, alongside a Private Investigator. And she certainly didn't expect to fall for the gorgeous Ronan. Ronan is a Private Investigator in New Orleans. He's seen plenty of disappearances, especially during Mardi Gras, but when he finds himself investigating her friend's disappearance with the beautiful Violet, everything changes. Will Violet and Ronan have a beautiful love story, or will the investigation into the missing bride's disappearance be their undoingโฆ.

The story finds Violet Jameson and Ronan LeBlanc thrown together when her best friend disappears after a tarot card reading in the French Quarter of New Orleans. The trail takes these two all over the city and into some areas that are dangerous. They also keep sparking as they spend more time together. While trying to find her best friend who walked away during a bachelorette party, Violet turns to PI Ronan. Violet is an event organizer and was planning her friend's wedding, Ronan is the PI recommended by a bartender to help find her. How they find her friend and forever together is not to be missed, especially when they deep fry a turkey.

I loved this short novella of a bachelorette party, a missing bride and the start of something wonderful for Violet and Ronan. I loved the chemistry between these two. Violet just wants to find her missing friend. P.I. Ronan to the rescue. All questions will be answered by the end of the book, especially the most important one. Will there be a happy ever after for our two?.

A case of emotional detox. Violet's best friend disappears, and she hires a PI. I guessed the reason for the disappearance. Lots of worrying, stress, and searching, but maybe it was worth it because missing friend gains clarity, and Violet finds her true love. Ronan, in return, finds someone who stays. I enjoyed the story despite the stressful situation of the wild-goose chase.

This is a fantastic book! A touch of suspense, paranormal stuff, and sweetly spicy romance. Violet is an event planner and has spent the last year planning her friend's wedding. When her friend disappears, she is sent to Ronan, a PI, to help find her. I love the chemistry between Ronan and Violet. This is a great story that has an excellent plot and a perfect HEA.

Voilet is the maid of honor and has planned this trip for her friend. Things take a turn when the bride to be disappears, the police are no help. She gets the help of a private eye, Ronan. Ronan was not going to answer his door late at night and is glad he did when he sees Voilet. He wants nothing more than to alleviate her stress and help her find her friend. Maybe he can talk her into staying.

New Orleans during Mardi Gras. Set in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. A group of women there for a Bachelorette party. Complete with masks, bar crawls, veils and a little voodoo. All in good fun, until itโs not. A tale with one big twist and several little curls. A tale that definitely doesnโt follow anything straight, except maybe the whiskey. Welcome to the big easy.
This is part of a series I was reading so I was going to read this book. I did not enjoy it as much as previous books I have read by the author. The story was interesting but the writing is very stiff and abrupt to me. Previous books of the authors I have read just flowed. I did like the characters, the mystery and the steam. Good HEA.
This book is part of the multi-author series Bachelorettes of Bourbon St. I loved the New Orleans setting. A bride is missing and Violet and PI Ronan work together to solve the mystery of her disappearance. I enjoyed the journey to their hea. A very entertaining read.
