Eh. It was okay. I am a huge fan of the attraction. I liked how there were some scenes/characters that were inspired by the attraction. (A raven in a tree in the graveyard, a ghostly bride with a glowing, beating heart, pictures whose eyes follow you, the sound of an organ playing in the foyer, etc.) I did not like this book for two reasons. 1. WHY IS THE FORTUNE TELLER NAMED MADAME BLACKHEART?! In the attraction she is officially named Madame Leota. 2. I think the author could have added more characters and scenes from the attraction into the book. Maybe even added some more stories. The characters I would love to see in a future edition of the book would be: The mummy in the graveyard, Master Gracey, the singing busts, the whole entire ballroom scene, the stretching room, the hitchhiking ghosts, and the guy trying to break out of the coffin.
These feel like Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Creepy without being too scary. Great for tween crowd. Stories were interesting good urban legends set at the mansion. Some I'd heard variations of before, but still fun.
