A rogue CIA agent. A pilot with a murdered father. One flight that could cost them their lives—or their hearts.
CIA agent Angie Liu knows better than to launch an unauthorized investigation. But when an informant’s death points to murder, chasing the truth means going off the grid and getting out of the country. Her only option? The sexy, one-night stand she ran out on who just happens to be her dead informant’s son.
Nate Hughes wrote his father off as a drug smuggler. But when he learns his dad may have been murdered, he’s done believing the worst. And when the beautiful woman who bolted from his hotel room shows up at his family airline in need of an unofficial ride to the Caribbean, he’s not about to let her out of his sight.
Angie doesn’t want to fall for the handsome-but-gruff son of a former asset, and Nate wants nothing to do with the organization that may have set his dad up to be murdered. But when the bullets fly and secrets unravel, they are forced to trust each other with their lives—and their hearts.
Dangerous Decisions is a standalone romantic suspense set in the Dangerous Skies world. This story contains violence, cursing, and sex on the page. Happy-ever-after guaranteed.
Evie Jacobs is an award-winning author of romantic suspense. She loves grumpy heroes, forced proximity, and a good sex scene. She lives in Colorado with her husband, two cats, and seven bicycles.
Officially creating the "Crime-Fighting TV Show" tag for anything Evie Jacobs writes. It's like watching re-runs of CSI: Miami and Quantico with a splash of Law & Order but it's all in my head and one the page, not on screen. I love how she writes so candidly and plainly; it works with the genre, the storylines, and the characters. Her books are addictive! I WANT MORE!
Angie is a CIA analyst that never takes time for or really cares much about herself. She's career-driven and the epitome of a strong FMC character. Nate Hughes, on the other hand, thought his father crashed in the ocean running illegal drugs for the mafia and other criminal underworlds. He's done his best to separate himself and his family from that life. He's fiercely protective of his siblings, of Angie, and never tries to get in the way of Angie's goals, something we ALL want in a strong MMC character.
I think the dynamic between Angie and Nate is really what sells this book and made it a 5 ⭐ read for me. There is nothing better than a couple who fights constantly and gets under each other's skin. It makes them question their individual ambitions and actions, but never their feelings for one another. (These dynamics usually have the best make-up sex, too.) 😉
The plot is gripping. It felt like I was part of the story, the investigation, the criminal empires at war with one another. I had to figure out the pieces of missing information just as much as Angie! I was invested in this! That's a sign of gripping writing and top-shelf world-building!
I said it earlier and I will say it again: IF SHE WRITES IT, I'M GONNA READ IT!
This is a brilliant romantic suspense story. Angie is forced to take a months leave from work. When all she really wants to do is find out what really happened to the informant who died. Knowing that both departments had now closed the case, it just doesn't sit right with her. Nate is having time at the casino trying to take his mind off his missing father. Noticing the gorgeous woman being pestered by the drunk player, he jumps in to help. Although from the look of her, she doesn't really need any. But making it look like their together soon get rid of the guy. Ending up together in his room wasn't really his plan. But he doesn't object, and neither does she. When she disappears in the morning, he takes for what it was a one-time thing. Now she's at his families airline and wants a no questions asked flight. The chemistry between them is obvious, and both characters work well together. This is a story of drug cartels, departments' cover-ups, and justice for an informant. Can Angie go against her orders. Or will she risk her job uncovering the truth. This is a book you won't want to put down.
My first Evie Jacobs book, and one that drew me in with the blurb. I knew I had to keep an open mind while reading. I didn't realise it was part of a series, but I had no trouble reading it as a standalone.
Dangerous Decisions is a romantic suspense story in which we follow Angie Liu, a CIA agent who has disobeyed orders by digging into the death of an informant. She finds it leads her to Jamaica. To get there without anyone knowing she has to involve her dead informants son, Nate Hughes. She doesn't just have that issue, though. No, she also ran out on him after a one night stand.
Nate had made his mind up. His dad was nothing but a drug smuggler. Then his murder makes him double take. Angie turning up after doing a runner from him is a surprise, and one he will be keeping an eye on!
It is a romantic suspense story that fulfilled all my expectations. The suspense was built well, as I found myself so intrigued with Angie's investigation. The fact she was putting her job on the line cranked it up even more. The chemistry between Angie and Nate crackled between them from the first moment.
It was so well paced and with characters that had my heart so quickly! The fact they worked so well together, too, just kept me rooting for them all the way! I am planning to read the other book at some point. Another author to keep an eye on!
A great story. Betrayal, action and romance. Angie is a CIA agent who is forced to take a vacation. she decides to use that time to investigate the death of her informant again her boss's orders. Nate's dad was the informant that was killed and he works with her to find out what happened to his father. They fall for each other as they work together to solve the mystery. Can they solve the mystery? Must read to find out . received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

What happens if your forbidden, one night stand is who you need to solve a case? Throughly enjoyed this action packed, fast-paced romantic suspense. Strong heroine. Plenty of heated romance. A solid suspense. A super second book in the Dangerous series.
*Because romance is very subjective, and ratings systems not conducive to that, but because writers depend on reviews, I rate as such:
Five stars for a well written book I loved Four stars for a well written book I liked Three stars for a good book.
Writing is damn hard. Readers like what we like. Not all books are for everyone. Be kind.
Dangerous Decisions is a thrilling blend of romance and suspense that brings CIA agent Angie Liu and Nate Hughes together in a high-stakes quest for truth. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Jamaica, their chemistry sizzles as they navigate danger and secrets surrounding Nate's father's mysterious death. Angie's disobedience leads her straight to the one man she wanted to forget, and the tension between them adds depth to the unfolding drama. With engaging characters and a gripping plot, this book had me gripped - a riveting read. A great addition to the Dangerous Skies Adventure series!
Nate & Angie’s investigation delivers a whirlwind of emotions & tough decisions, pulling you through countless twists & turns. Nate, the grumpy teddy bear, wins your heart as he wrestles with his feelings for Angie, while Angie leaves you both frustrated by her choices & admiring her grit. The story sweeps you into danger, unanswered questions, betrayal, & a storm of messy emotions that keep you hooked from start to finish.
A lot of lingering suspense , a great story it made my heart stop a few times. The characters are great and story is vividly written. I love both main characters and even the villain has my vote. Loved it
A good suspense and love story. This is Angie and Nate's story. Angie an analyst for the CIA. Nate a pilot. They head to Jamaica to solve the murder of Nate's dad and things go from there.
Dangerous Decisions by Evie Jacobs is a thoroughly enjoyable romantic suspense with a strong sense of pace, a compelling plot, and just the right touch of heat. I was quickly pulled into the story and found myself eager to see how things would unfold.
The chemistry and tension between the main characters are the true heart of the book. There’s a great balance between emotional connection and physical attraction, with a slow-burn intensity that feels authentic and engaging. The spice is there, but it never overshadows the developing relationship or the plot.
While the story doesn’t try to be overly complex, that actually works in its favor — it's accessible, easy to sink into, and perfect for readers who enjoy tension-driven narratives with a few twists and turns along the way. Some moments were a little predictable, but there were also nice surprises that kept things fresh and satisfying.
Overall, it’s a well-crafted, entertaining read that showcases both solid storytelling and a strong voice. I’m excited to see what Evie Jacobs writes next!
Great romantic suspense! You have to love any story that has a mafia link! The main characters had great chemistry. The story was suspenseful with enough of the romantic element to not detract from what they were hoping to accomplish. Had a little bit of a twist at the end, but you could kind of see it coming if you were paying attention. Overall good Book and I will go back and read the other books in the series because I believe this was book 3 of the series and I had not read the first two.
Superb: I enjoyed this action packed romantic suspense novel set in Jamaica. I found it to be engaging and I was curious to see how it was all going to play out. Although part of a series, I think it could still be enjoyed as a standalone as enough back story was provided. I liked Angie and Nate as a couple and seeing them work through their insecurities and hurts. All in all, a great read and I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Evie Jacobs’ Dangerous Decisions is a red-hot tale of romance and suspense that will keep readers glued to its pages.
CIA Agent Angie Liu would stop at nothing to get to the truth – even if it means disobeying orders and getting herself into a hell of a lot of trouble. When her investigation into the mysterious death of an informant leads her to Jamaica, Angie needs to get out of the US undetected and she finds herself forced to ask for help from the last person she wants to see: the former one-night stand she had ran out on who also happens to be the dead informant’s son!
Nate Hughes has always believed that his father was a drug smuggler. But after his murder, Nate begins to realise that there’s far more to his dad than he initially realised. Determined to find out who his father really was and who was responsible for his death, when Angie turns up at his family’s airline in desperate need of a ride to the Caribbean, he vows not to let her out of his sight!
Angie has her eyes on the prize and falling in love is definitely not part of her plan. However, that proves to be easier said than done. Being in such close proximity to Nate ignites feelings deep within her she hasn’t felt in a very long time, but with enemies round every corner and nobody to trust, Angie cannot let herself get distracted from her mission.
With only each other to turn to, will Nate and Angie manage to get out of this alive and build a future together? Or will any hope they have of being together be thwarted by dangerous enemies determined to do whatever it takes to keep them from uncovering the truth…
Evie Jacobs’ Dangerous Decisions is an enjoyable tale of romantic suspense that effortlessly blends intrigue, tension and danger with emotion, intensity and sizzle. A fast-paced, red-hot tale with two charismatic characters that jump off the pages, Dangerous Decisions by Evie Jacobs is a terrific page-turner that will keep readers up all night.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Dangerous Decisions is the second book by Evie Jacobs in her fast paced, interconnected romance series with high stakes and an insta-connection romance that sparked from the start.
Nate is the older brother to Elise, from the first book, and coincidentally Angie knows who Eric is since she's been tied to the family's case and of course heard about how Eric, the FBI agent, fell for Elise. I loved the connection between both books, but Dangerous Decisions can be read as a standalone.
Now Angie is searching for answers to Nate and Elsie fathers death since Rick was an informant who worked with the CIA and Angie didn't feel like his death was actually accidental. So Angie is using her vacation time to investigate it until she settles the case and she won't stop until justice is served.
The night before starting the investigation she meets Nate, the hottest guy she's met in a very long time. She allows one night of passion, one night of fun, one night to let loose, but when she realizes Nate is the very man she is looking for to begin her investigation, aka; Rick's son, she knows her investigation just got a lot more complicated.
Setting off for Jamaica, these two seek answers to a murder that no-one else wants uncovered. It's dangerous on so many levels; to Angie's job, to just surviving, and to both of their hearts. Asking questions uncovers more than just Rick's death, it uncovers conspiracy, dangerous men, and a fake marriage that begins to feel real.
Dangerous Decisions begins with a steamy bang and the sizzling chemistry between Angie and Nick never quits. It's full of action and lots of twists. It's a 4.5 read overall.
Thank you to Reedsey for the advance review copy and all opinions are my own.
Angie Liu is a woman on a mission. Her informant she suspects has been murdered and she needs to fly out of the country undetected. She enlists the one man who can do it, Nate, only she has no idea he’s her dead informant’s son. Not to mention that she had a one-night stand with Nate. Working together ignites undeniable chemistry and danger. Every decision is a double-edged sword, but they’ll need each other to survive and bring those responsible to justice.
Dangerous Decisions is a pulse pounding romantic suspense I couldn’t put down. This is book two in the series but can be read as a standalone. The descriptive narration is immersive and grabs the reader from the start. The action scenes are intense. The intrigue and world-building propel the reader to keep reading. The romance is blistering hot between Angie and Nate. The plot is complex but well detailed. With a plotline ripped from the headlines, Dangerous Decisions is seeped in realism.
Evie Jacobs has penned another scintillating romantic suspense. I truly immersed myself into Dangerous Decisions. She has a talent for writing romantic suspense. The complexity of the story had me reading late into the night. Fans of Meredith Allison and Rachel Grant will love Dangerous Decisions.
Heat Factor: Most of the heat comes from the crime solving, but don’t you fret–there’s still plenty of the fun kind of heat
Character Chemistry: They have very balancing chemistry, like any good crime solving duo should
Plot: Angie is determined to solve the murder of one of her CIA informants and enlists the help of his family to get the job done. Only it turns out she accidentally slept with her informant’s son, and now he’s the only one who can help her…
Overall: A really fun crime-solving read, but I wasn’t a super huge fan of one of the editorial choices.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. We disclose this in accordance with 16 CFR §255.
This new to me author is a must read from now on! She gets the action going with a one night stand that when Angie learns who she has been with, sends her running. Nate thought they had something good, but why did she run? And why is she back asking for his help? Although Nate went with the story that his dad was a drug runner and that led to his death, Angie tells him the truth as far as she knows it. His dad was a CIA informant and Angie thinks that led to his death. They are tied together to find the truth of how his dad died, and by the wild attraction that has not abated. Can they find the truth and live to tell the tale? I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I enjoyed the second book in the Dangerous Skies Adventure series, this time it's Nate, the oldest sibling's story, which brings him into intimate contact with CIA agent Angie, who wants to know why his father and her confidential informant died. Angie is driven and impulsive, risking her career and life to find the truth. She's an analyst, not a field agent, but that doesn't stop her. From their first meeting, a passionate attraction develops between the couple, intensifying as the story unfolds. The suspense element is intriguing and pacy, and the romance is intense and vibrant. It's an immersive read and one where you invest in the protagonists. I enjoyed the Jamaican setting, the romance, and the suspenseful drama. I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
CIA analyst Angie Liu goes on leave to further investigate the death of her informant and meets a handsome poker player who turns out to be her informant’s son, Nate. Somehow, their one-night stand turns into a joint investigation in Jamaica, where they are uncertain who they can trust, and there is more going on than they expected. While collaborating, Angie and Nate start to form a bond that helps each of them discover what could be important to their future. This is the second book in the series, and I was fortunate to receive ARCs of both from Hidden Gems. While you can enjoy this as a standalone novel, knowing Nate’s family history provides deeper insight into how it influences their investigation.
This is my first book by author Evie Jacobs but it will definitely not be my last. I thought it was an absolutely fantastic romantic suspense with a strong female lead. Angie and Nate were interesting characters and the author did an amazing job of keeping up the action, suspense and romance. The writing style was great, the story kept me on the edge of my seat, and I was invested in the characters. I also really appreciated the lead being a woman of color, something we need to see more of in romance. I will be checking out more by Jacobs and adding her to my “must read” list.

Dangerous Decisions is exciting and adventure filled with danger. It has drug cartels, death and a burning hot romance. Angie and Nate have amazing chemistry even though they seem to be constantly fighting that is what makes their chemistry electric. I loved how I could feel and see the danger in my mind as I read and that is thanks to the talented author who made the pages come alive. I never wanted to stop reading so sadly the book ended to soon because I was enthralled. The ending is satisfying but made me feel like I needed the next book like yesterday!
I was so lucky to get a chance to read this an ARC and I ate this up. Has vibes of Burn Notice- sexy justice. I love one night stand gone wrong, pent up angsts, and forced proximity. And this book has so much adventure- mysterious death, rouge agent, drug cartels, and wait there’s more… go read it. Made me wish I was Angie’s back up in Jamaica.
“You do things to me I don’t understand. It scares the hell out of me.”
I liked Angie’s workaholic attitude because she just hadn’t found the person who would make her change her life. Nate is a hunky pilot who had me forever with his aviator glasses. The story is riddled with drug lords, secrets, shots, and betrayal. It wasn’t too hard to discern who the traitor was because not too many of Angie’s colleagues were mentioned. It’s a fast paced thriller with a great ending! Thanks Rachel’s Random Resources for the advance copy.
The plot is a great mixture of romance, suspense, action, spice and humor. Angie is a CIA agent trying to find why her informant was killed. Going off book, Angie ask for help the son of her dead informant, who also happened to be her one-night stand. When Nate realizes that there is more to his father’s dead, he wants to protect everyone he cares about, that includes Angie. I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy.
She is looking into a murder against orders and she needs helps from the victim son. He will help but only because he wants answers about his dad murder. Life will have other plans for them both as love is coming for them both. See if it all works out I received an advance copy from hidden gems and a lovely story
A gripping romantic suspense with nonstop tension and sizzling chemistry. Angie and Nate’s reluctant partnership is intense from the start, and the danger only deepens as secrets unravel. The action, emotion, and romance are well balanced, making this a fast, engaging read with a satisfying payoff.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Evie has a great writing style that keeps you wanting to read more. Story is great and not predictable. Didnt want it to end! 10/10
