What Katherine E. Schneider accomplished in this collection is absolutely remarkable. She makes every single line of her poetry count, pulling at your heartstrings, moving you to deeply feel the emotion that she feels, all while using gorgeous imagery and sensory detail and taking you on a journey in which you can vividly imagine yourself in the holy land, in her apartment, and everywhere in between. Her beautifully crafted and shaped lines remain with you long after you’ve finished reading. Some that I will carry with me in the long run: “I am most honest when I articulate need. / I am most honest when I say it to God.” Katie’s work is a great joy to read for poetry fanatics and bibliophiles and a fantastic model and inspiration for those of us who are fellow poets.
