This book had a lot of suspense in it.

Amish Country Witness is an exciting story that has it on the edge of your seat.
Halie Mae Hochstetler witnesses her uncle’s murder by the mafia and knows that Witness Protection has failed. Now the mob is determined to get rid of her. As she is running for her life Amish widower Daniel Beiler is determined to save her and have the men after her stopped by the law. Halie Mae discovers buried family secrets that she needs to unravel, and together with Daniel they make a plan to survive. But with killers determined to make Halie Mae their next victim, staying alive may be harder to achieve than they think.

What a captivating book that I did not want to put down! I appreciate the Christian emphasis and the suspense awaiting in each chapter. The only suggestion I have is that a glossary of Amish terms be added to ensure a better understanding of all words used. I have read many Amish books, but found some words I did not recognize and had trouble figuring out the meaning from the context surrounding it. Otherwise, a wonderful story, overall!

My favorite quote is
Before Daniel could finish, the door flew open from the impact of a foot kicking it.
It slammed against the edge of the kitchen counter and ricocheted back to close, but a man thrust it open and stepped inside, his bulky frame filling the small door of the camper. He gripped a long, wicked-looking knife in his hand.
He shoved Daniel aside with his elbow and grabbed Halie Mae from the booth bench.
Halie Mae’s primal scream of terror did not deter the ruffian as he held the knife to her throat.
In a split second, Daniel’s mind raced through what he might find in the RV to use to rescue Halie Mae.
On instinct, he held his hands out, palms facing forward to show peace and no weapons. “What do you want with her?”
The man spit at Daniel, his lunge forward causing the knife to drop away from Halie Mae’s neck a bit. Daniel pulled back from the projectile, keeping his eyes on the weapon. If he could get it away from the man, he could save Halie Mae. But how?
I recommend this book.

How did Hallie Mae Hochstetler's time in the Witness Protection Program get compromised? Why did a pair of gangsters kill her uncle, and why are they after her? Can Amish widower Daniel Beiler help keep her safe until they can find her Witness Protection agent?
"Amish Country Witness" is the second installment of Meghan Carver's Plain Secrets, following up "Amish Country Hideout." This book starts with a gunshot... I mean, with a band. Carver has created a pair of interesting characters that you want to follow.
As stated above, this is the second book in a series. Do you need to need them in order? Not necessarily - the two books are mostly separate stories, though there is some overlap, and readers of the first will recognize references to the female lead in "Amish Country Witness." I would, though, recommend reading them in order.
I highly recommend this book.

From the first page, Amish Country Witness pulls you into a tender mix of romance, faith, and danger. Meghan Carver keeps the story moving with steady suspense, meaningful moral choices, and just the right touch of heartwarming romance. Hallie Mae Hochstetler and Daniel Beiler make an appealing pair, and Daniel’s quiet kindness gives Hallie Mae the strength and support she needs as she fights to stay safe and seek justice. Although this is the second book in the Plain Secrets series, it stands well on its own. Warm, suspenseful, and satisfying, Amish Country Witness is a story that keeps the pages turning and leaves a sweet impression.

An action packed, faith-based book that leads you wondering what will happen next. A young Amish woman is in Witness Protection, but when she witnesses her uncle's murder, she is now hunted down to be murdered. Each chapter makes you want to keep reading. What will happen next? Will the hitmen get her? And how does Daniel Beiler play into the scene? A good book! I received a free copy of this book from the author, and this is my honest opinion.

What an exciting and thrilling book this was. Halie Mae is in WITSEC after her parents were killed trying to stop a child kidnapping. She meets Daniel after seeing her Onkle Noah killed and finds out he was also in WITSEC. Now she and Daniel are on the run from the killers. This book will keep you turning the pages to find out if they manage to finally get away from them. I gladly recommend this book.

The action starts immediately in Amish Country Witness, and I was hooked from the start! Halie May and Daniel make a fantastic team, and Tojo the black lab was a great part of the dynamic. A suspenseful, action-packed mystery by Meghan Carver.
