Alannah is an emerging indie romance author based in Australia, writing contemporary love stories with a whole lot of heart—and drama.
Her books feature strong Filipino female leads and proudly reflect her commitment to cultural representation. Expect to yearn, ache, and burn as her characters navigate the messy, passionate chaos of love and life.
When she’s not writing, Alannah juggles a full-time job, life as a proud mama to her adorable daughter, wifey duties, and caring for her battalion of Pomeranians.
This book is 7 short stories written by 7 indie authors who everyone should follow for their normal size books. I loved each and every book especially with all the heat and want between every character (yes it’s mostly smut but who’s complaining😅) with every storyline the whole book is 4.5⭐️. Hooked to the very end of each story
This book was exactly what my heart needed. Seven short romance stories from seven indie Australian authors, and every single one delivered. No skips. No filler. Just pure romantic goodness.
I went into this in the middle of a book slump and a full-blown book hangover, and somehow these stories cured both. Each one had the perfect blend of spice and yearning — that delicious tension that makes your chest tight in the best way. They were short enough to devour in one sitting, but packed with so much emotion that I felt completely satisfied after every story.
It truly felt like a one-stop shop for romance. Different voices, different vibes, but all hitting that sweet spot of swoony, romantic escapism. The variety kept it fresh, and I loved discovering new indie authors to obsess over.
This is the ultimate Valentine’s cutie read. Cozy, flirty, heartfelt, and just the right amount of heat. I already know this will be a yearly Valentine’s reread for me.
If you’re in a slump, craving romance, or just want something that feels like a warm hug with a little spice — this is it.
I was lucky enough to get an ARC and it’s a privilege that I know some of these authors on a personal level makes me so proud of the work they’re putting out.
This anthology was one of the best. Each story shined the personality of the author writing the short story and it was amazing to read to get a glimpse of other authors imaginations I haven’t read yet.
It has a wide range of tropes which obviously keeps you intrigued and wanting to know what the next one is about which is a great way to never get bored because who knows what the next story is about 😛
It has a little something for everyone which is refreshing and exciting to recommend to someone who wants something short, sweet, fun and spicy. How much better can that get!!
I got to arc read this and I’m so thankful. This was amazing. 7 different romance stories in one book. 7 different indie authors. So much heat and passion in all. Now I don’t want to pick a favourite but if I have to it would Chloe’s because I love sports romance. Close second would be H.Z Kore with dark mafia romance 🤌🏻 but that doesn’t mean the others weren’t just as good just that those stories are more my vibe then say the paranormal and magical realism is but they were still fantastic. I eat this book up in 48 hours (mum life) going through 61% in like 12 hours. I loved it definitely worth the read. Now I have some new authors to follow and see what else they have written can’t wait. 📖📚
This anthology is such a creative and exciting way to discover new indie authors. I genuinely loved the whole concept — seven different writers, seven unique voices, and one beautifully curated romance experience. It was so much fun exploring the different writing styles, tropes, and storytelling approaches, and I’ve definitely found some new authors to follow.
I really appreciated the order of the stories — the balance between sweet and spice was perfect and felt especially welcoming for new romance readers. The inclusion of individual trigger warnings for each story was also a thoughtful touch, allowing every story the chance to shine both together as a collection and individually on its own.
There’s truly something for everyone in this anthology. We get why choose, Daddy/Good Girl, mafia, paranormal, forced proximity, sports romance, primal play, fantasy — a little taste of everything. Obviously there’s romance in all of them (it is Valentine’s Day after all!), but add in a touch of magic, mafia danger, passion, and heat? Absolute perfection.
As a sports romance girlie through and through, Chloe’s story was my favourite — it completely had my heart. A very close second would be H.Z. Kore’s dark mafia romance (so good!). That said, even the stories that weren’t typically “my vibe” were still beautifully written and easy to appreciate. Some of them honestly left me desperate for more — I would absolutely read full-length novels based on a few of these worlds.
Yes, it’s spicy — and I am not complaining! The chemistry, the tension, the heat between the characters? So well done.
Overall, this anthology was sweet, spicy, passionate, and the perfect Valentine’s Day read featuring talented Australian indie authors. If you’re looking for a way to sample new-to-you writers or want a little taste of multiple romance tropes in one place, this is absolutely the book for you.
Highly recommend — and I cannot wait to dive into more from these authors! 💕📚
Anthology Review | 7 Stories, 7 Very Different Experiences
This anthology contains 7 short stories, and I can’t in good faith slap one star rating on the whole thing because my reactions ranged from hard no to give me the entire series immediately. So instead, here’s the breakdown book by book.
Book 1: Let Me Assist – Alannah Roberts ⭐ 1 star This was a no from me. I was genuinely confused about why the FMC was even there or why freezing to death felt like a casual option. And the line “give me your cum and I’ll make you a daddy”? I gagged. Fully. Add in asking permission to go to the bathroom and… yeah, that’s not sexy for me. This style just wasn’t it.
Book 2: Midnight Between Us – Shae Roberts ⭐ 0.5–1 star What… actually happened here? I finished this feeling confused, dazed, bored, and somehow still unfinished. No answers, no payoff, just vibes I didn’t understand.
Book 3: Off the Record – Chloe Higgins ⭐ 3 stars I liked the puns and I appreciated that there was a plot, which already puts it ahead for me. That said, it ended feeling unfinished, like we were cut off mid-sentence. Decent, but I wanted more closure.
Book 4: Say My Name – Sommer-Lee Deaves ⭐ 5 stars Mushroom dick had me laughing out loud. Miranda calling out to the spirits at the start about Lyra? I cackled. I absolutely loved this one. My only complaint is that it’s too short. I want backstory, lore, and full-on vengeance against that demon. Give me the novel. Immediately.
Book 5: Dipped in Sin – HZ Kope ⭐ 3 stars There was… a lot going on. Mafia plots really shouldn’t be crammed into something this short because it got mildly confusing. Also BDSM elements dropped in without much explanation, which was a choice. Still, the plot carried enough to land in the middle for me.
Book 6: Why Not – M.K. Rogue ⭐ 5 stars Absolutely unhinged. Why choose, insanity, blackmail, darkness? Yes. All of it. I need the full book, the extended universe, the character backstories, everything. This one lived rent-free in my head.
Book 7: The Mage’s Whisperer – Estelle Duke ⭐ 1.5 stars Honestly… blah. None of this held my attention and I found myself disengaging pretty quickly.
Final Thoughts on this: This anthology was a rollercoaster. Some stories completely missed for me, but others made me desperate for full-length novels. If you like sampling different writing styles and discovering new authors, there are some real standouts here.
Would I reread the whole anthology? No. Would I hunt down specific authors from it? Absolutely.
I absolutely devoured each story and discovered so many new authors I love and stories that I usually would not pick up. The Sweet treat Anthology is 7 short stories each done by Australian Indi authors (Alannah Roberts, Shae Roberts, Chloe Higgins, Monique Koen, Sommer-Lee Deaves , Estelle Duke and H.Z. Kore). I would also like to Thank Chloe Higgins for giving me an Arc. Please note that each story is different and all might contain trigging content, so please check each trigger warnings before reading.
Each story had so many different tropes, from Romance to fantasy to dark romance and some were more plot while others were more character driven. Each felt like an exciting new story, like opening a new chocolate from the boxes of roses, there were so many different tropes and aspects to each story. There were so many different tropes/ concepts that I usually avoid but had absolutely adored. I do hope that we see more these characters from each story from the authors , some stories felt like they could go on for so much longer and I was sad when each story ended.
Overall I truly loved this book, and now have some new authors to read . I highly recommend you read this, you could find some new amazing authors and remember to please check each stories trigger warnings before reading. Happy reading
What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day than to read 7 short stories by 7 amazing AUSTRALIAN Indie authors. Seriously, jump on Zon and preorder your copy. I was hooked from the first page. There’s so many tropes that I can’t list them. Obviously there’s romance in all of them but add a little magic, mafia, why choose, fantasy, sport, Daddy/Good girl, forced proximity and primal play. Seriously, I couldn’t read all of these stories quick enough. If it wasn’t for mum life, work life and family like I would have parked myself in my favourite reading spot and have not moved until I finished it all. Thank you so much to all of these authors for this opportunity to read your short stories. I can’t wait to get my hands on more on your work ❤️
I was fortunate to receive and ARC copy of the Sweet Treat Anthology.
I love this idea of creative collaboration. Each author brings a fresh, riveting story. The order in which the stories are presented also offer a healthy balance between sweet and spice which I think is welcoming for new romance readers.
I also like how each book does include its own TW specific for the story as readers go through the anthology. this combined with everything else gives each story a full chance to shine both together and on its own.
For readers who want a little taste of everything romance or discover some amazing stories written by indie authors, this is a book for you.
7 short sweet and a little bit spicy stories by 7 indie Australian authors! There is a wide range of genres in this book and I’ve definitely found some new authors to look into reading their books 🙊 This is honestly such a good way to find new authors by reading a little taste into what they love to write! Some stories I hope will be turned into something more as I feel they need their own book to shine in! Being a sports romance girlie through and through I loved Chloe’s book! Overall I can’t wait to add some of these authors books to my TBR and read some new variety of genres
what an amazing collection of short stories! If you chek out my book updates i provided my thoughts on each story individually 🥰 7 stories, 7 indie authors, 7 unique perspectives and genres.
Thank you alannah for providing me an advanced copy, all 7 stories were fun and unique! Hope to read more 🥰
I went into this book with the open mind that some of the 'shorts' in here aren't typically something I would pick up on my own. I was pleasantly surprised that ALL of them had me wanting for more. The cliffhanger on each have me hoping there is the rest of the story somewhere out there for me to read.
An interesting and creative way to meet indie authors.
I really liked the whole concept. Some of the stories left me yearning for more and some weren't really my thing. It was great to explore different writing styles and I definitely have some new authors to follow.
I was lucky enough to work along side these amazing ladies and the stories the other 6 created were delightfully decendant! I enjoyed every single one!
Congratulations to the authors because this was incredible. Absolutely devoured it and was left wanting more All stories are different but it also flows to well!
