Fault Line: A Ross and Rosencrantz Novel

Rate this book
A small earthquake shouldn’t change everything. But in Shelby County, it does.

Sheriff Tom Rosencrantz knows the land better than anyone—its farms, its people, its quiet rhythms. But when an unusual tremor shakes the region and a long-ago buried SUV is discovered in the rubble of a quarry near the county line, the official explanations start sounding rehearsed.

A neighboring sheriff insists there’s nothing to worry about. Special Counsel Halley from the Attorney General’s office arrives with polished reassurances. And a developer named Bricker—someone Rosencrantz has never heard of—suddenly has opinions about jurisdiction matters.

Everyone wants Rosencrantz to back off, but no one wants to say why.

As he pushes deeper, Rosencrantz uncovers a pattern of falsified reports, quiet threats, and a trail of intimidation that reaches far beyond county lines. The more he uncovers, the clearer the situation This isn’t just a natural disaster investigation...it’s a cover-up, and someone is willing to kill to protect their secrets.

With limited resources, shifting alliances, and mounting political pressure, Rosencrantz and his undersheriff, Andrew Ross, fight to keep control of their own county before the truth is buried for good. And as the fault line begins to crack under decades of secrets, Rosencrantz must decide how far he’s willing to go—and who he’s willing to stand against—to protect the people he serves.

Fault Line is a tense, character-driven mystery thriller about loyalty, corruption, and what happens when a good man refuses to look the other way. A perfect installment in the Virgil Jones universe that stands on its own while deepening the world longtime fans of Thomas Scott love. Get your copy now.

Excellent

I started reading this with trepidation, wondering if there was going to be enough material to make a spin-off series from the Virgil Jones books.

I'm glad I did, it's excellent. If you love the vojo Jones series you'll love this

After a clunker- Scott brings us tried and true characters in an intriguing plot. Just the right mix of Virgil and Morton as Rosie and Ross move to center stage. Looking forward to the next one
