I couldn't put it down. Rogue Planet is a winner. The authors have presented a frightening, but believable, scenario that had me reading all night. The science is believable, and the short chapters interspersed with various reports, journal notes, and blog entries is riveting . This dystopian science fiction novel challenges readers to consider one ethical dilemma after another and to note how the various characters react when faced with a devastating series of events. Why did they do what they did? How would we have reacted had we been there? Vollmers and Dordal have created a thought-provoking and entertaining novel. It's a great read!
I love a good scifi apocalypse adventure, and Rogue Planet was especially absorbing because of all the intricate ways the authors went into questioning how the Earth would be destroyed by a mysterious planetary body from outside our solar system. And the ways humans would try to survive such an extinction level event. For example, if humans tried to escape to the moon, what might happen to the moon after it became untethered from Earth? I also enjoyed the multiple points of view and many different correspondence formats in which the way the novel was written. You could never guess what was coming next until you turned the page!
