The finest memoir I’ve ever read.
Born Lucky by veterinarian Dr. Ken Nordlund is a rare and wonderful book, brilliantly written, deeply personal, and impossible to put down. Dr. Nordlund is widely regarded as one of the most innovative and influential dairy practitioners in the United States, having been invited to speak hundreds of times at dairy conferences around the world. His ideas have improved the lives of cows and the families who care for them, and that same wisdom, humor, and compassion shine on every page of this memoir.
The book weaves together vivid stories of his childhood on a farm in northern Minnesota, his training and service as a soldier in Vietnam, his veterinary education at the University of Minnesota, and his many years in private practice in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. These experiences are told with insight, humility, and humor.
