The two kingdoms which had been at war for fifty years had been united under a signed alliance, by the sacrifice and great love between the two rulers, who had swapped places through magical mirrors for three whole months. These mirrors had been created by Merlin, in order to find fated mates, who would use their love to unite, and protect their people and their realms. Queen Liora of Valdris, and King Callum of Glenmara, two very different cultures and people, who were now overjoyed expecting their first child. The alliance was not totally accepted, there were nobles from both kingdoms opposing this and doing their utmost to see it fail, but the most challenging battle came from someone else. One Merlin had imprisoned so many hundreds of years ago, the one known as the Shadow King. Merlin's own apprentice had turned to dark magic for the sake of immortality, and had bound himself to the Shadow King, thus betraying his own mentor, and now threatening the two allied kingdoms. Kaelith would let nothing stand in the way of the freeing of his evil dark master. And his favourite tactics were attacking the heart of those who loved, by taking from them what was most precious to them, the baby, future heir to their united throne. Can Liora and Callum defeat such evilness based solely on their love? Together, always was their motto, but will they still feel the same way when treachery strikes at their very core? This book is splendid from start to finish, our fated mates prove time and time again that love can surpass all challenges, they fight on undaunted, even when their hearts are riven in grief. They sacrifice everything for what they believe in, a future enjoying peace and trade relations between their two kingdoms. I loved this book, it's many heartbreaks, it's great strengths and so many challenges, and the surprising ending, which is not what I expected I must admit. So onward to book 3!

OMG Where to begin. This is the second book in the series. If I thought the first book was good, this one was phenomenal. For me I was drawn into the story from the start. We follow the emotional journey of our two main characters, Callum and Liora who now jointly rule their joint kingdoms " the Alliance".
The have an uphill battle to keep the unity with obstacles from supposed supporters. The main battle which they face together is against a wicked magical beast. The book shows how they manage, against all odds to survive this, loosing several friends along the way. Personally it was an intense and emotional book but I wholeheartedly enjoyed it and most definitely recommend this for your reading pleasure. I don't normally write long reviews but this book stole my heart and very unlike me I want to give a small quote from the book.
" Grief is the price we pay for love and you loved them all in different ways. Honor their memories by allowing yourself to feel the weight of their absence."

As I say my reviews are normally a couple of lines but I can't express enough how brilliant this is. Plenty of magic and emotion and intrigue to keep you interested. Go for it.
