Meet Cute At The Boneyard

Rate this book
Heather Delaney is the woman of my dreams
and I haven’t been able to stop watching her.

She’s perfect in every way.
Beautiful, funny… murderous.

From the moment I laid eyes on her, I knew I had to have her.
She doesn’t know it yet but she’s mine, and I’m never letting her go.

From the mind of CJ Riggs comes a paranormal romance you’ll never see coming.
Filled with comedy, true romance, and real… deep… male yearning.
He’s also tatted and super tall too!!

Considering some of Riggs's other books I've read recently, this has got to be a favourite!!
The meet cute, the fun, banter and coziness of the read is so different from the normal for Riggs, however there is still the signature darkness and some gore which we've all come to know and love from a C.J. Riggs story.

I'm excited to see what comes next, will Riggs return to the deep darkness or continue to add a little lightheartedness to any upcoming story? I suppose we'll just have to wait and see and I can't wait!!

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this story ☺️

I loved this! It’s nothing like I’ve ever read before. The banter and chemistry between Heather & Ricky was the best. I honestly wanted more! I did NOT see that twist coming either. One of my fav quotes - I love you, Heather. My entire life nobody has ever come close to you, and they never will. You’re my reason for breathing, and I’ll suffer this day for eternity if it means I get to have you in my arms even just for a few moments. I can’t be without you… it’s impossible.

Oh this was SO MUCH FUN!

Meet Cute at the Boneyard was defo different to Riggs’ typical books but wow, she needs to write more like (as well as her darker stuff, obvs)

I absolutely loved the emo boy/barbie girl dynamic and the banter between our two main characters Ricky and Heather? Had me snorting in the most unladylike way😂

The plot was super fun, especially since it’s only short! I would highly recommend you all read🖤

Massive thank you to CJ Riggs for the ARC🫦🖤

Paranormal romance 😈
My first 5⭐️ of the year 🙌🏻
At just over 100 pages long I honestly didn’t think I’d fall In love with these characters and their love story much as I did 😩 The love this man has for his girl 😩😭 It wasn’t rushed , it wasn’t over packed , it was just right for a novella ! Perfection !!
In the words of Emily Brontë -
“Whatever our souls are made of , his and mine are the same .”😭

This book had me laughing out loud. The characters inner monologues & the banter between them both was hilarious.
It was also super cute…whilst also having some gore.
I really enjoyed every minute of reading this.

“So gimme a boost, Linkin’ Park, and let’s go”
“Whatever, just get me out of here. We have places to go, people to murder”

Thank you Riggs for the ARC.

I wanted a short palette cleanser and this definitely did the trick. Paranormal type books are not usually my thing but I didn’t mind this. I don’t quite understand how they both end up being alive but sometimes things don’t have to make sense for it to still be good and this is one of those situations.

This little cutesy story tickled me more than I was expecting. Now I can’t give too much away but let’s just say they make the best team and he loves her more than you could possibly imagine. The ending was perfect and though she but little she is fierce. I loved the hilarity, cuteness and true love these two possessed.

5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This little novella that I thought was going to be a simple little rom com kinda book…had me in tears at the 50% mark. TEARS.
This story is so much more than boy meets girl in a graveyard in the middle of the night in the middle of burying the bodies they hauled there to dispose of. There’s playful banter, an insta love feeling (that’s very cleverly explained later) and a feeling of “Have we met before?” between Ricky and Heather.

So yes, they’re each disposing of a body, but it’s intricate to the storyline so you have to read The Who, the why and the where on that. (But trust me, it’s so deserved).

Ricky has an emo vibe according to Heather. He literally wears black. A lot of the banter comes from Heather referring him to mid 2000 emo bands. Ricky says Heather is a Princess, a pink one to be precise. But with these two opposites, there’s intense chemistry and when Heather finds out that Ricky is on a revenge spree kill that night due to a tragic event a year ago, Heather decides to help.

What starts as a meeting in a graveyard turns into a night of remembering the past, facing harsh truths and that sometimes the people we meet aren’t random at all….it was just finally the right time to find them. And that love never really dies, it can just reshape itself and find you in the memory of everything that you ever really wanted.

Read this. It’s so much deeper than what you expect and that made this book so much more. Highly recommend.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spiciness: 🌶🌶
Darkness: 🔪🔪
POV: 👩👨

✏️ Genre: Paranormal Romance
🚩 Triggers: Murder, Gore, Arson, Mentions of Stalking, Eye Removal, Stabbing, Forced Cannibalism and more

So I want to start this review of by saying all thoughts and feelings are my own. I want to thank Riggs for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book before release.

" 'Shit. There's no way I'm going to get this dirt out of my outfit.' Fuck"

The playlist first of all is such a bomb ass playlist. It has so many songs on it I love, I also love that it includes a playlist (it's a weakness of mine lol).

This book had me laughing so much. I am in love with Heather and Ricky, their banter is amazing. I enjoyed how cute it was but yet still had hints of gore (I love that). I devoured this book in a matter of hours, I only kept pausing because I didn't want it to end honestly. This is very different from the other books I've read by Riggs butttt that being said I still loved it. The only problem I have (and it's not even a problem) is I want more lol. I especially loved the emo band and film references dotted about the book.

"Her laugh belongs to me tonight. In fact...all of her does."

✨🪦 Meet Cute at the Boneyard by C.J. Riggs – ARC Review 🪦✨

RELEASES ON THE 10TH OF FEB

First of all, thank you to C.J. Riggs for the ARC and for allowing me to be part of her street team, it was genuinely such a joy to read this early.

This book? Five stars. No notes. Standing ovation 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I adored it.

Meet Cute at the Boneyard gave me full early 2000s sitcom vibes: witty, charming, slightly chaotic, and completely addictive. The writing is beautifully descriptive without ever dragging, and I found myself completely wrapped up in the atmosphere and the characters from the very first page.

Heather and Ricky’s love story is everything. Soft, real, funny, aching the kind of connection that makes you believe in soulmates. I was kicking my feet, twirling my hair, blushing like a sinner at church. And Ricky?? I need him immediately. IMMEDIATELY.

Then came the plot twist, absolutely heartbreaking, perfectly placed, and emotionally devastating in the best way. And somehow, after putting my heart through the wringer, C.J. Riggs delivered a gorgeous, satisfying ending that made it all worth it.

I genuinely did not want this story to end. I need so MUCH MORE of Heather and Ricky. I need their love injected straight into my veins.

10/10. Take a bow, C.J. phenomenal. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Riggs delivers yet another captivating tale in Meet Cute at the Boneyard, a novella that packs a punch despite its shorter length. As a fan of Riggs work, I was thrilled to find it brimming with the signature trigger warning goodness that I’ve come to adore from her.

This story resonated with me as a comfort horror, reminiscent of a film I'd happily revisit time and time again, and each time, I’d fall just as deeply for the main characters, Heather and Ricky. Their love is both fierce and unwavering, overcoming the barriers of time and distance with a devotion that’s palpable.

The heated scenes are expertly crafted, perfectly balancing intensity and emotion, drawing readers into their world with ease. I found myself rooting for this couple, eagerly wishing for more adventures and moments that reveal the depth of their connection.

Who can resist a graveyard love story infused with revenge and a touch of spice? Riggs artfully merges elements of horror and romance, creating a unique narrative that keeps you hooked from the first page to the last. I genuinely hope to see more from Heather and Ricky in the future, as their story is one that deserves to be explored further. In short, Meet Cute at the Boneyard is a delightful gem that horror and romance fans alike will enjoy!

Dearest darlings of darkness,
Once again I come before you to confess that Riggs’ books get me. Deeply. Aggressively. With no regard for my emotional wellbeing. Meet Cute at the Boneyard understood the assignment and then chose violence.
I loved this story. Loved it. The gasp I gasped was so dramatic I had to pause and stare at the wall like I had just been personally attacked by fiction.
This book turned me into a walking bundle of emotions. Whiplash. Devastation. Joy. And then that twist came in at the end like it had been waiting patiently just to ruin me. Heather and Ricky dragged me straight back to my high school years. Yes, I am old enough for the references to hit painfully hard. My emo playlist was blasting the entire time because apparently I enjoy suffering with background music.
Also let us be honest here. A meet cute at a graveyard? Elite. Iconic. Say less.
Yours in madness,
E

I'm not even sure where to start this this masterpiece by Riggs. Everything she writes you can tell she pours her heart into and Meet Cute is no different.
Although this is not what we've all come to love and expect from our girl, being an erotic horror author and all she can definitely pull all the different genres.
I honestly wasn't sure what to be prepared for when I heard it was Emo boy/Barbie Girl MCs but Riggs made it happen in the best ways. I quickly fell in love with this story, the banter and chemistry was wrote beautifully. I loved all the little emo jabs from our feisty Heather, and you could quickly feel the love Ricky had for her and the depths he would go for her.

"Come on." " Let's go, Fall Out Boy."

I absolutely loved this book and hope to see more books like this from Riggs in the future.

Where do I even start!? Oh I know… RICKY IS MINE AND I DON’T SHARE 👀👀

Okay so now we have that out of the way… excuse me babes? Are you okay? Yearning… romance to a new degree and MAKING ME CRY LIKE A LITTLE BITCH…

I devoured this book with my entire soul… it broke me and put me back together again and I couldn’t be more in love with Ricky and Heather 🖤

I don’t do spoilers because I’m a firm believer in having the experience for yourself but this is so different to Riggs’ usual stuff and she has written it so beautifully that I still think about it… daily… 🥰

This story is beautiful, hilarious, tragic and just incredible in every aspect. Definitely a 6* read for me and forever one that will stick with me 🖤 thank you Riggs for gracing us with such a beautiful story 😘

I absolutely devoured this book, ate it up the way brucey scoffed his face in Matilda, licked my lips and asked for more.
Heather & Ricky! The banter, the chemistry, the story!!! You’ve done me in!
I have never read a book like this before and wow i can hand on heart say I thoroughly enjoyed reading this going from laughing my head off to feeling like my heart was ripped out, to then taping it back together!
I’m not angry it’s over, I’m just disappointed.

Auto buy author as always but this just shows me now matter what CJ writes I seem to be falling for the characters and their stories!

Loved loved loved!!

Meet Cute At The Boneyard is a paranormal romance and is a new genre for Riggs. I feel like she executed the story perfectly and I feel in love with both our MC’s Ricky & Heather 😍

The story is beautifully tragic with a HEA, has some spice and banter that made me laugh out loud!!

As per Riggs previous books, there is some gore and trigger warnings so be warned.

Would I have loved to read more about Ricky & Heather falling in love, to read more about the details of the incident and to have spent time drowning in Ricky’s heartbreak… Yes, yes I would

Another amazing story from Riggs, 100% recommend 🖤🖤

So first CJ Riggs is just incredible! One more thing to add why I love Riggs so much, not only she can write top notch erotic horror stories but she can also right perfect Dark paranormal romance!
Even though its a novella the way its written it goes so well you don't feel rushed, the emo×Barbie vibe is perfect, the banter was so good, the twist at the end, the spiceeee🤌 and the perfect Riggs signature of gore and unhinged touch.
Ricky is the perfect man🖤🥹, the pain, the love, the way he fought everyday...I love him so much!

I loved loved Ricky and Heather's story🖤🖤

For your first Romcom with definitely a splash of you in there it’s amazing. I could read it over and over again and feel the same emotions I did the first time. I can’t say anymore than that because I am floored still, I had no idea which direction it was going to go.

Thank you for the arc of this for my honest opinion and my opinion is everyone has to read this and enjoy heather and Ricky with us all! ❤️

This is a beautifully written hauntingly paranormal romance novel, one which caught me hook line and sinker and I absolutely ate this book up!

This novel was a different genre for this author and I can hands down say she absolutely smashed this book out the bag!

We see this storyline develop between Heather and Ricky. There is a secret Ricky needs to tell Heather, but this secret has to be at the right time, the right place and right moment.

This book is packed with twists and turns, ones which keep you reading and wanting more!

This book is the perfect mix of emotions, one which this author has done brilliantly!

The way this author has created this storyline and the characters inside is amazingly done!

This is not the first novel of this author I have read and I can hands down say it will not be the last of her books I'll read!

Meet Cute at the Boneyard by C. J Riggs is a cute little paranormal romance filled with banter, dark humour also with added romance. Ricky has been watching Heather for a long time and when they meet in a graveyard, both burying bodies, they hit it off. A slow burn, feminine rage story with paranormal romance and a really great twist. Although this is lighter please check the trigger warnings before reading this book. I would highly recommend this book, it left me feeling satisfied and also happy inside. Different from other books I’ve read by C. J Riggs, but that is definitely not a bad thing, she killed this story! Heather and Ricky 🖤

What to expect:

🪦 Murder/Gore
🪦 Grief/Loss
🪦 Forced cannibalism
🪦 Ocular removal
🪦 Slow burn and many more

Twisty, heartbreaking, hilarious and delicious - Absolute MUST READ!!!

Riggs!! What have you done to me!?
It was an honour to read this!! 🥰
Firstly this isn't your "Typical C.J. Riggs Book" - It's completely different to anything i've read before - i'm not normally a romance kinda girly and definitely not normally down for a slow burn 🤫🤣 but I absolutely ate it up!!
In just 113 pages 2 characters and one wild night you made me feel every emotion possible!! I nearly vommed! (IYKYK!🤮) laughed, cried, smirked and completely swooned over these characters all the way through!! 🤤
I absolutely adore Heather and Ricky they're both absolutely badass but the most adorable couple!! 🥹The inner monologues made these characters for me, their whole dynamic and banter was just chefs kiss! 🤌🏼💋
For a Novella it really did make a huge impact!! - It has everything you want in a short paranormal romance with of a course a C.J.
Riggs twist 😉😏

What to expect:
Paranormal Romance
Fated Lovers
Barbie vs Emo
Twists and Turns you never expect!! 🤯
Secrets
Revenge
Slow burn - But done spectacularly! 🤌🏼💋

Wow! Riggs! you achieved something special within this little novella.
Smashed it out the park!
I'll never look at salt and vinegar the same again! my husbands gonna have to eat some bland food for a while.

I loved the main characters of this book! Ricky is the book boyfriend every self respecting reader needs in her life!!
I do think that Skater Boi by Avril Lavigne should have been in the playlist.... because he was an emo boy and she was a barbie girl!

for real though, this novella was perfection, the banter was on point! The romance was adorable, the gore was seasoned well and the ending was *Chef Kiss*
