SPOILER WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t know what possessed me to read a cheating trope but a reviewer mentioned that ML didn’t cheat and I thought maybe this was one of those miscommunication tropes where FL thinks he did but in actuality he did not. NOPE. He DID cheat.
MLs have been married for 6 yrs and they have a 5 yr old son and a baby girl on the way. ML is a cop (detective) and FL is an ER doctor. When story starts, we learn that when they first met and started to date, ML (in a moment of panic) told FL something about not getting serious or something and she interpreted to mean that he wanted to see OP. So when she sees him with an OW shortly thereafter and thinks he is already moving on, in anger she fucks some OM and never tells him because the next day ML tells her he loves her and wants a committed relationship and that he just had a moment of panic and didn’t mean what he said.
Flash to the present, the OM she had slept with shows up at an event that ML was getting an award or something and gives FL a hug. ML gets jealous & possessive and FL ends up telling him what happened in the past with OM. Well, to say he didn’t take it well is an understatement because he leaves FL and goes to a Bar where he gets drunk and an OW comes on to him. He first brushes her off but then gets up to go to the bathroom to take a leak and she follows him there and he just watches her come closer to him until she touches him and he never pushes her away because suddenly he is turned on by her.
The scene plays out like this: After OW followed him to the bathroom, she takes his hand and places it on her breast where he palms & squeezes it and pinches her tit. Then OW takes it as a YES and starts touching his dick and he is hard. He then makes the move and kisses HER.
Then they go into the bathroom where OW unzips his pants and puts her hand on his naked dick and moves down to suck him off only for her hair to get caught in his shirt. It is then that he gets a lightbulb moment to stop so he pushes her away and leaves.
He then goes home and sleeps off his drunk ass and doesn’t tell anything to FL until the next day she picks up his shirt and sees the OW’s hair and perfume. She confronts him and he tells her that he was angry and drunk and that the OW kissed HIM and that it didn’t go anywhere. She believes him and decides to forgive him because after all it was her fault for not telling him about the OM in the past and she pushed him into what he did with OW.
They have sex and are good for a nano-second until OW decides to blow everything apart by filing a harassment lawsuit against ML. FL decides to go to the bar to see the video herself. When she sees that he lied to her when he said that SHE kissed HIM and not the other way around, and also simultaneously finds the empty alcohol bottles over the house hidden, she realizes he is an alcoholic and kicks him out of the house.
The issue here is that we only get her anger of the video on the fact the he lied to her when he told her that the OW kissed him. She clearly saw the video so why wasn’t she also upset and confronting him on the fact he didn’t her about how he was touching the OW’s tits and allowing her to touch his dick? Yes, she was upset that he lied to her but I would assume she would feel sick at the rest of the stuff he was doing with OW. LOL.
Later on when she confronts him on the lie, he just says that he was drunk and didn’t remember most of it and got confused. It was only when he saw the video himself that he was ashamed of what he did.
And here lies the issue for me because the cheating is basically shoved out after the 30-35% and author focuses more on the fact he is an alcoholic and his recovery with his many therapies and being a great Dad.
As for FL, from the moment she kicks him out after she confronts him about the lie & the drinking, we have a whole bunch of filler with some little drama with her MIL, SIL, son who is taken their separation hard and acting up and her new asshole boss which at some point there I thought we would be getting some drama in the form of violence or some revenge against FL but it went nowhere.
FL spends all of the story even up until the end flip-flopping back & forth whether to divorce ML and move on or forgive him. One moment they are good, the next she is walking away. She was even cruel at one point where she calls their last time that they made love as “disgusting” and ML takes it hard, even though he knows it’s his fault for their marriage breakdown.
But here is the thing. After he went to therapy to fix himself, he was a great dad to their kids, gave her space & time, was supportive and didn’t make any waves. He even accepted the fact she wanted a divorce and was not fighting it. It’s actually the FL with her constant flip flopping that decides out of the blue that she doesn’t want a divorce after all but still not sure she can forgive or trust him.
This goes on up until the last page which was exhausting because it takes her sister & her support group to point out that she is giving him mixed signals and that she should decide either to work things out or let him go. But does she do that? Nope. She continues to play games with him and constantly says how she is not sure she can trust him not to drink or cheat again. Even when he promises that he would never do that to her again and that he is a changed man and she sees the work he put in to reform, she still continues to play with him and it’s not until she has a life & death moment where he saves her that she decides to patch things up but not 100%. In fact, up until the last few pages she is still unsure and playing her games and then suddenly she says ok and the end. LOL.

I usually like this trope, but not this time. The guy is mad that his wife, BEFORE they were exclusive, hooked up with someone else. So he gets drunk and starts to hook up with some chick at the bar he ended up at. This was sheer tit-for-tat, retribution. For something that happened BEFORE they were exclusive. Yes the exact circumstances were definitely strange but did I mention that they WEREN’T EXCLUSIVE AT THE TIME. He does stop but then that chick gets mad and files a sexual harassment complaint. There’s video of the situation and it proves that he lied to his wife about what actually happened.
This is where I DNF’d. This man made me so angry. And honestly, she wasn’t much better. These characters were weak.

Wasn't quite all the way but close
he was mad at her and when some ho hit on him when he was drunk, he touched her boob and kissed her, let her in buckle his pants and touch his junk. I hated him then and he was a drunk to boot. a hidden drunk but still a drunk. He then blamed his wife because he found out when they were dating and he didn't want it to be exclusive she hooked up with someone. The next day he told their he was wrong and he loved her and they needed to.be exclusive. She had seen him out with other women before that and she thought if he was she would but turns out he was in an.undercover sting. But she didn't know. So she didn't tell him because it was meaningless. Yeah.just like.guys say. But I understood his.anger,,I didn't understand the cheating though. He worked for a redemption. But it took him a long time. Not.my.cup.of tea.

Overall the story was ok. The author did take it in a direction that had no prelude to it or build up.
There is also what I would call a plot hole and something that seems to have been missed within the characters story line.

Later on in the story Patrick said that he was blind drunk when he cheated and couldn’t remember anything, that he saw the video and didn’t think he could behave that way and couldn’t remember a thing. That literally doesn’t make sense to what was written as whilst he was cheating we were reading his inner monologue and his thought process!!! He made very conscious and very coherent decisions…..so the blind drunk direction the story went wasn’t possible with how it was literally written…..for me that is a major plot hole as it can’t be explained away. TBH honest so much rode on that scene it just ruined the whole book. It’s like that author forgot they even wrote it that way!

Fun Fact: Alcohol Does Not Impact Your Inhibitions, Those Are Just Narcissists
It always weirds me out when people still believe that Alcohol impacts their inhibitions.
It does not.
They have done tests with alcohol and alcohol free groups but they both thought they were drinking alcohol. Both groups acted almost the exact same way, with the sedative impact of alcohol being evident, the groups acted the exact same way.
Because its not the alcohol, its you. You wanted to act that way and boy you knew everyone would let you shed responsibility for your choices onto the alcohol.
He literally tells a stranger hes not happy in his marriage and then pretended she came onto him.

It was okay. Skimmed a lot. I personally didn’t care for the alcoholic portion of it. I also felt like the betrayal with the cheating should have been more than just the kissing. Just personal preference though! I like good gut punches and this one fell flat since the initial gut punch was forgiven immediately but then later on the secondary gut punch of her watching them kiss she THEN wanted a divorce.
She knew they kissed, she asked him immediately if he kissed someone else and he didn’t deny it, causing her to run away from him to their bedroom. Then used the cope out later when he said “I don’t think we kissed” and how he “only touched her”. And immediately said okay I forgive you, no worries let’s move on. Even if he didn’t kiss her, he still cheated on her. He still owed some sort of redemption. But idk she acted like totally fine when it was “possibly” only touching but then blew up when she saw it was kissing on the video and how he’s a big fat liar. Miss lady you chose ignorance too. If a guy says they don’t remember how badly they cheated on you, that’s a problem … period.
AND ANOTHER THING - she’s a doctor but TWO days after him cheating on her, she asks if the OW is pregnant because he looks all sketched out and guilty. You’re literally a MD… you know it’s not possible to know these things 2 days after sex. That part made me so confused. Which also goes back to the ignorance thing, she knew he was lying and chose to believe it anyway.

When Lorelie finished her residency, Patrick had an assignment,she saw him with a hooker looking girl,she thought he is seeing other females,so she had ONS with Brick another doctor,next day Patrick told her that he loved her and wanted to be in exclusive relationship....
So there is no cheating,they had a very beautiful marriage of 6 years ,the day Patrick got promoted to the sargent, in party they encountered brick and some Patrick ended up hearing about ONS ,he was hurt ,as he was always in exclusive relationship with her ,and very pusseasive....
Later what happened and not happened...
Jus a glimpse of emotional up wheel!

Cheating = H is mad about something that happened before he and the h were official, so he goes to a bar, drinks, and gropes/makes out with OW (would have gone farther is her hair did not get caught on his clothes which caused him to have a WTF am I doing moment)
h sees H with OW = h sees a video of the above up until the H and OW go into a bathroom where H is seen exiting quickly after adjusting his pants/belt
Grovel = H eventually came clean to h after she halfway had to trick him into the confession. H, unknowingly, minimized what had happened. I say unknowingly, because come to find out, H is a raging alcoholic whose memory will just blank on how much he really drank and also tampers with his recollection of things he may/may not have done. H must change his behavior, but h divorced him and basically forced him to put up or shut up if he wanted any visitation with his kids unsupervised. It takes over a year for h to see that H has really changed and them more time for the H to date the h and show her that it is a permanent change.

Wrong book
I HATE doing this and I left Three stars cause i love the authors other books so much and i dont want to leave 1 for a technical issue. I waited for KU
and when I did it ended up being BOOK 3. I hope dear author only uploaded and this book is telling her the error and a simple update gets a new book.
If so i will update my review.
Because all other books have been amazing

Wow
This is ( I don’t have the words). It is my first book by the author and oh my I love the storytelling. I enjoyed the dual narration. I love the close knit family and how each party came out stronger and a better human and parent.
I could go on and on but that would mean I may unintentionally leave spoilers which I don’t like but I would like you to take my word for it and read this.

Incredible book
Another heartfelt and heartbreaking story. The author manages to evoke feelings and understanding in her writing. Some of the book is not easy to read but having an understanding of both sides of the dilemma helps. I highly recommend this series books. Just incredibly sad it’s ended. Hopefully more to come.

Loreley and Patrick
A very law tale of a loving couple that was destroyed by infidelity and addiction.
Loreley and Patrick were couple's goals but in one night everything they had built in 10 years comes crumbling down. The rebuild was painful but after Patrick put in the work unbelievably he managed to get the family he thought he was lost for good, back. Highly recommended

Good Story of broken trust
After looking at the previous reviews, the download link worked for me. The story is as described in the narrative which is a different second chance story with a couple dealing with lies and betrayal. This book is not similar to any of the other books written by TB Violet. Good drama and I do like the different POV between the main characters.

Me sorprendió que me terminara gustando. Odio los libro de infidelidad, pero aquí no sentí tanto problema. Tal vez se deba a que Patrick estaba lidiando con su alcoholismo que al momento de ser infiel estaba totalmente perdido y aun así para la situación. No lo perdono ni justifico.
