My thoughts: You know how you're reading a lackluster series and then you come across the gem that makes it all worth it? This is that gem. I really enjoyed this story although I was confused about the initial transition.
Recommend to others: Yes. Especially of you liked The Princess Diaries or Pleasantville.

Memorable Quotes: “You’re lucky I love you like a daughter, Harper, or I’d have to fire you for sleeping on the clock.” I turn toward the voice, blinking. Tom Wayland? As in the actor who played King Damon in that ridiculous crown movie everyone watches? The one who also plays Eliza Morgan’s father in my favorite holiday movie? Salt-and-pepper hair. Warm eyes. A pressed dress shirt with the sleeves rolled. Exactly as he looked in The Winter Crown. Except older. More… real. My jaw drops. “Tom… Wayland?” He pauses, then looks over his shoulder at the young woman next to him—the one with flawless cheekbones and a long wool coat, casually sipping tea like she isn’t standing in the middle of my favorite Christmas movie. Mina. Eliza’s older sister. Iris McPherson—in real life. My favorite Broadway star. He raises an eyebrow. “Tom who? Mina, did you get Harper drunk again last night? Tom Wayland? Who the hell is that?” He scoffs, pointing to himself. “It’s Chuck. Chuck Morgan. Your boss.” Mina—no, Iris—Mina, whoever, laughs and waves off his concern. “She likely overindulged in eggnog. ‘Tis the season.” My brain stutters. I look around the shop, blinking too fast. Wooden measuring tables. Racks of clothes. Pins and fabric chalk and a vintage radio playing Bing Crosby in the background. Velvet Stitches Tailoring. I’ve seen this place so many times. On screen. In The Winter Crown. Except there are no cameras. No crew. I’m not just watching the movie—I’m in it. Mina—ugh, Iris—comes closer, pressing a palm to my forehead. She smells of lavender and fresh linen, and I flinch at the realness of it. Dreams don’t smell like anything. At least not this vividly. “You’re not warm,” she says. “But you’re acting a little off, babe. You feeling okay?” I nod, feeling the panic rising in me. One glass of wine too many. My talk with Sloane got under my skin. And that stupid ornament. I made a wish. This has to be a dream. Or some kind of stress-induced hallucination. Either way, I’m going with it. I’ll wake up, eventually. Might as well enjoy the fantasy.
We’ve all wondered what it would really be like to be character in a hallmark movie and this book showcases exactly that with a twist. I enjoyed the connection and the craziness of how this would occur in real life, while falling in love with Harper as I read. There’s a spice scene that honestly is a fantasy we all hope to play out in our own lives. Happy Reading!
