Susanna and Gabriel, a story that starts with a kidnapping, then a basement, a cage and then a marriage!! Yes, sounds different but it seemed to work for these two.
For me I found the storyline far far fetched, maybe if it was longer with a bit more emotion I would have liked it more. My final observation is Susanna is a spoiled brat and proves it through most of their journey to happiness.

Butcher is a dark mafia romance in Ivy Davis’s House of the Mafia world, where danger and desire collide in a revenge-driven marriage. What I liked: There’s a genuine emotional payoff as Susanna finally finds someone who sees her worth and helps her grow—not just another plot device. It’s satisfying to watch her and Gabriel find connection and redemption together, and I liked how the violent, high-stakes mafia backdrop underscored their chemistry and choices. Their relationship feels earned (even if it’s dark), and the “someone for everyone” vibe unexpectedly works.
What didn’t quite land for me: Some readers of Ivy Davis find the trope of falling for your kidnapper trope familiar or divisive, and this book leans hard into that intense dynamic. If you’re not a fan of heavy possessiveness or morally grey MMCs, it might be a bit much. The pacing occasionally swings between introspective and breathless moments in ways that made me want just a touch more development.
Overall, this one delivered exactly what fans of the genre are after: gritty tension, deep emotional stakes, and a happily-ever-after that feels hard-won. Not light holiday fluff, but if you’re into dark romance with passionate, dangerous heroes who do grow on you, Butcher hits the mark.

Gabriel is back, and he is going to make Luca pay. However, he knows he can't gain access to his wife, Nina, again, so this time he'll target someone close to Nina instead.
Susanna is bored; she is ready to live her life. She is ready to fly the family home and do things that she wants to do without interference. But she knows she has been reckless in the past, jealousy taking over her, pushing her to act out. But she thinks she has matured into a woman, a woman who knows her worth, and she is worthy of a strong, wealthy mafia man to make her his bride.
Gabriel sets his plan in motion, not realising Luca doesn't care much for his sister-in-law, which Susanna frequently reminds him. Even though she is being held, Susanna doesn't keep her thoughts to herself; she lets them know how she feels. Gabriel likes this in her, his little spitfire, has claws.
The story is action-packed from the start, as Gabriel makes it known that he is back in town and what lengths he will go to get what he wants. Will Dimitri, Alek, and especially Luca go for his proposal?
Susanna should hate her captor, but she finds that she is drawn to him. Gabriel can see the darkness that is in Susanna, the same that is in him, but he is not like her family; he wants to keep it, it is what ties them together. He soon finds that he wants to protect her, but will she accept his proposal? But hatred between Luca and Gabriel runs deep, and Luca is not letting Gabriel win this time.

You might want to make sure to double check that you are buckled up, dangerous men, alpha’s personified, possessive, oh, gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a story consisting with three D’s (dark, delicious, and dirty) 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, death, darkness, secrets reveled, violence, hope, forgiveness, and maybe even love along the way. Gabriel sexy as all get out mafia isn’t a man you want on your radar, he is dangerous, ruthless on a good day, deadly every day and out for revenge going after Luca since he can’t touch his wife he is going after the next closest to make him feel it. Susanna has lived her life under other’s guidance being born into the mafia life it is to be expected but she wants to live her way freedom yes, she has tried but it has always led to trouble and feeling like she is worthy of a strong mafia man wouldn’t hurt if he was wealthy. Gabriel takes Luca sister-in-law but he doesn’t realize that Susanna has been telling him the truth her brother -in-law do not like her enough to attempt to save her, she has no problem showing her claws, this show Gabriel that she has strength to her but there is also something more that draws the two of them to one another turning her from captor to partner in crime against her brother -in-law but will they stand together understanding they are stronger together than apart, will she understand she has found someone who will protect her despite being a little spoiled, will his revenge plot work as planned, and is happiness somewhere on the path for these two?

The rival along with men the rival has an alliance with show up at one of his businesses talking about a truce with a marriage alliance had been suggested but with a different woman which he didn’t like. The two marry which she agrees to and after their wedding the rival goes after them. They’re intimate after they get back to what is now their place. She tells him about her darkness.
After he leaves she goes to talk to her sister to tell her not to worry but before she can leave her brother-in-law shows up throwing her into a guest room and locking it. Her sister tries to talk him into letting her go and making an alliance but he won’t listen. She excerpts and goes home where she finds him angry and upset. Her brother-in-law shows up to kill him but she steps in front of him and takes the hit for him.
At the hospital they agree to an alliance even her surrogate father also agrees to an alliance with him. Nothing important was hit so in time she will be fine.
On Christmas day they go to her surrogate father’s place. Everyone that is part of the alliance is there along with their wives and her mother, it has been months since they started the alliance.
The couple is in love and happy.

Gabriel and Susanna do not get off to a good start. He kidnaps her to get revenge on her brother in law. He holds her prisoner, keeping her in a cold basement. He sends a piece of her hair to her family as proof that he has her. He moves her into his home and locks her in a cage. How could that possibly lead to anything meaningful?
But Susanna starts to feel things for Gabriel. He sees her for who she is, without the judgement she gets from her family. They slowly let each other in. But when Luca, her brother in law, shows up looking to hurt Gabriel it goes terribly wrong.

3.5-3.75. We’ll I guess Susanna finally gets some redemption. I’m glad she and Gabriel found each other. They do say there is someone for everyone, I’m glad she finally found someone to love her for her so that she felt she could grow as a person. I mean she had no way to go but up! I do find it amusing that everyone is always so surprised that the girl falls for her kidnapper, I mean others in this family have!
Also love the BOSS women. We all know who really wears the pants in these Mafia families!

Engaging story and characters felt less childlike than the prev 3 books which is a relief, steamy captive desires

This book was amazing! Gabriel wanted to get even with Luca for chasing him out of town, but he couldn't do it by taking his wife, been there done that. So he took Susanna, Nina's(Luca's wife) sister. Luca would have to do anything to get her back to make Nina happy, right? But so much happened, Gabriel fell for Susanna, Susanna fell for Gabriel because he got her for her. A secret marriage to forge a truce between Gabriel and Luca. Luca shooting Susanna by accident in her wedding dress, what!!! But the ending, everything works out, the truce happens, Susanna is fine, and a family Christmas dinner, yes please!!!

Gabrial has been a thorn in Luca and Alek's side for years and in his latest attempt to continue that "torture" he kidnaps Susanna who is Luca's sister-in-law. Susanna is nothing like he thought she would be and finds that her darkness almost matches his. I love the way Susanna and Gabriel begin to see that they are "perfect" for each other but, can they convince everyone else that they should remain as a couple.

Butcher is book 4 in the House Of The Mafia series and this one is Susanna and Gabriel's story. Gabriel is Susanna's brother in law Luca’s, rival, so what better way to get revenge than by abducting Susanna to get back at Luca. Their journey is intriguing, intense, compelling and easy to fall into from the very start. It takes a bit but eventually these two realize darkness calls to darkness in ways neither of them expected. What a great journey this is!

Susanna has always wanted things her way. Her way or the highway but when Gabriel decides to get back at Luca, he takes her. Gabriel is called the Butcher because he chops up the people he kills. He intends to use Susanna though her spunky attitude gets under her skin. Will he use and abuse her or will he fall for her? This is a good mafia romance.

This was a great revenge story. And boy did it take a turn. Susanna and Gabriel were a hate/love relationship. And I loved that. Gabriel kidnapped her to get back at her brother in law. But things didn’t go as planned once the sparks started flying between these two. I loved the action and intensity of this one. It really merit me turning the pages.

Beautiful!!!!
It was written perfect for Susanna’s character. I loved the way she chose Gabriel and changed to make herself better. It was a good end to the series. I can’t wait to see what else comes from Ivy.

Susanna was not my favorite heroine. Gabriel is ruthless and controlling throughout the story, and the book fully leans into those traits.
If you enjoy heavy tropes like kidnapping and possessiveness, this will work for you. If not, proceed with caution.

Gabriel and Susanna’s story has heart mixed with the drama and violence of their world. She’s strong and stands up to him, but is also such a bratty thing. He’s the mafia man at war with her family but also the one who kidnapped her.

The fourth book in the House of the Mafia series. This exceptional story drew me in from the first page and kept me intrigued all the way through to the very end. The characters were well written and and the plot was fascinating and ultimately ended in a happy ending. Highly recommend reading.

Ivy Davis does dark romance with a happy ending but without all the tragedy in the middle. If you've read the first three books, Susanne is probably not your favorite. This book will make her be your favorite!

This is book four in the House of the Mafia series. The plot is emotional and kept me turning pages. It’s well written and the characters are well developed. I enjoyed Gabriel and Susanna’s enemies-to-lovers romance.

Awesome Book!!
Loved reading Butcher. Susanna and Gabriel’s story had my attention from the very beginning until the very end. Their story was action packed, intense and hot too. Awesome Book!!
