I love this series. We keep learning more about the characters. Situations change, lives evolve. People move in and out. It’s a realistic portrayal of a small community, and that’s my favorite part of these books.
That said, I wouldn’t keep reading if the mysteries grew tired. This one was a fresh take on the staged-suicide trope, and the addition of the protestors was a nice touch, particularly as it relates to today’s society.
I figured out pretty early who was guilty, but I didn’t know why. The reveal kind of hurt my heart. Kudos to the author.
Fans of this genre will enjoy it. Fans of this series will find it both familiar and new, and like me, they’ll eagerly await the next one.
I’m a huge fan of BJ Bourg, and his Clint Wolf series. Each book is well written, and his main characters, are like old friends. The Louisiana countryside, the rivers, the towns, and all its inhabitants, give each story a unique feel. This is a must read series!
As always we are kept on the edge of our seats with each turn of the page, the fast pace and suspense that is in each case that Clint and the team tackle is amazing. I truly hope that Pauline changes her mind and Clint stays.
