Sing for Me, Cowgirl

Once upon a time, Ashlyn Price had a dream. From the moment she first sang in the elementary school choir, she knew she wanted to shoot for the stars with her voice. She thought she shared that dream with another. Together, they would someday be the next big Johnny and June.
But like so many teens with big dreams, they were dashed.
At least for Ashlyn.
Still singing with her local band, she has now channeled her talent into teaching and helping grow the future of music through her students while Clayton Miller went on to live their dream without her.
Completely burned out by the fame and expectations, Clayton is looking to escape. What better place than his hometown he hasn’t set foot back in since becoming country music’s bad boy?
Wanting to relax and keep a low profile goes out the window when he’s drawn in to see Ashlyn sing and her band encourages him to join them.
Who is he to deny someone?
But he’s in for more than he expects when it comes to Ashlyn. Will she learn the truth only he can give her? Will he survive her family?
Will this cowgirl ever sing for her cowboy again?

This book sauntered in wearing cowboy boots, carrying a guitar, and dragging twenty years of unresolved feelings behind it like a trailer with a busted axle.

And the drama?

Oh, she was ready.

Ashlyn Price and Clayton Miller were supposed to be the next big thing. The Johnny and June dream. The hometown sweethearts with matching ambitions and a soundtrack.

Then life looked at those plans and said, "That's cute."

Ashlyn stayed behind. Clayton became a country music star. Years passed. Hearts were broken. Feelings were shoved into emotional storage and labelled do not open under any circumstances.

Naturally, the universe opened the box.

When Clayton returns home to escape fame, burnout, and whatever nonsense comes with being country music's resident bad boy, he finds himself face-to-face with the woman he left behind.

And girlfriend...

The awkwardness could have powered the national grid.

These two have enough unresolved tension to qualify as a natural disaster.

Every conversation feels loaded.

Every glance carries history.

Every interaction has the energy of two people trying very hard to act normal while their shared past is standing behind them waving a giant flag.

Ashlyn was incredibly easy to root for. She didn't sit around waiting for Clayton to come back and magically fix everything. She built a life. She followed a different path. She became her own person.

Love that for her.

Meanwhile Clayton rolls back into town carrying enough emotional baggage to exceed airline weight limits.

Sir.

The airport should have charged extra.

Beneath the fame, ego, and country music bad-boy reputation is a bloke who is exhausted, regretful, and desperately trying to work out where everything went wrong.

And honestly?

Watching him squirm a little was quite satisfying.

The romance itself is sweet, genuine, and packed with second-chance goodness. These aren't teenagers falling in love for the first time. These are adults trying to make sense of old wounds and missed opportunities while carrying years of history between them.

Which makes every emotional moment hit that little bit harder.

The family interactions were another highlight.

Because every good romance gets better when family members are lurking nearby, ready to make things awkward.

As they should.

The only thing stopping this from becoming a higher rating was the length. At 176 pages, it moves at a fair clip, and there were several moments where I wanted to sit with the characters longer.

The feelings started feeling.

The drama started drama-ing.

And then it was over.

Rude.

Final Verdict

Sing for Me, Cowgirl is a sweet, heartwarming second-chance romance filled with music, nostalgia, family chaos, and enough unresolved tension to keep the pages turning.

It's the literary equivalent of a country song about lost love, bad timing, and finding your way home.

Cute, emotional, and just the right amount of messy.

4 stars.

Turns out old feelings don't expire. They just sit quietly in the corner waiting for the perfect opportunity to cause problems.

Ashlyn Price and Clayton Miller were each others everything, the Johnny and June to one another. It all shatters though when Clayton puts himself first and it turns to years of his reputation taking a hit and the momentary happiness he had slowly diminishing over time losing his inspiration along the way. It is why he decides to return home. It is not a home reunion that is welcome though and the minute Clay sees Ash he realize he misses her more than he was willing to admit. Can Clayton win back Ash's trust and possibly her heart again?

I loved this, the beginning pulled me in right away. I wanted to learn more about Clayton and Ashlyn's story. This is probably my favorite so far by this author. Magical.

I'm entering the final stretch with this series. Only two more after this!
Ashlyn has been burned bad from a boy in her past, so naturally, she ignores anything and everything to do with him except when he comes back to Elk Field.
Clayton isn't nearly done with Ashlyn and wanting to rekindle things that she's much rather let go up in an inferno before she ever lets him close to her heart again.
Elk Field is a near and dear fictional place to me that I find myself going back to even if the book isn't part of this series.
This was a hoot to write and takes place at the same time as She's My Rhinestone Cowgirl. That's right, the twins get their stories at the same time!
Enjoy and happy reading!

A broken promise, a career on the rocks. Can both those things be taken care of from a trip home to reset? That’s what Clayton is asking himself in Sing to Me, Cowgirl.
Clayton can’t get on board with the songs the label wants him to record. He’s not this guy that fits the image they created. But recently she’s been on his mind more than anything. The one who got away, well really the one he left behind however not without fighting for her. He knew if he left to have a professional singing career and she didn’t come with him, she would be devastated. Yet he still chose his career. Now he’s in a place where he can’t get it together. He needs a reset, and he feels the best place to do that is at home. Not his home but where he grew up. What he doesn’t realize when he takes off is it’s Rodeo Week and Ashlyn will be everywhere. He’s not going to be able to keep his head down and avoid her. He’s going to have to figure out how to handle the situation.
Ashlyn was devastated when Clayton left town. He promised they would go together if music was the career, but instead he chose career over her. It’s been a few years and she’s still not over him. She refuses to listen to his music because it hurts too much, and those around her respect her enough to not listen while she’s around. Looking forward to rodeo week, her and her band have plenty of shows they will be doing plus all the other things she does to help out. What she does expect is to see him, of all people. He steals the spotlight night 1 and keeps showing up wherever she is. She doesn’t know he fought for her, nor does she care to listen at this time. But will she eventually?
Will Clayton crack her exterior walls to tell her everything? He wants too and has been encouraged by her mom and has been told by her father(who scares him) to fix it.
This book is on the shorter end but that’s no surprising for this author. I’ve read her books plenty of times before and this one was one of the ones I couldn’t put down. Read straight through because I was routing for Clayton to make it right.
Did I get my wish?
Well you will just have to read to find out, now won’t you!

This was a pretty short romance all about a second chance at love and learning what you truly want in life. It had a small-town feel to it, which was pretty nice, and gave it a cosy feel while reading. The story followed Clayton, who finds that his celebrity life as a famous rock star isn’t turning out the way he had planned, and everything he used to love about music seems to have gone, especially when he can't stop thinking about Ashlyn, the girl he left behind.
This read was pretty sweet, and there were some lovely moments in it. I just struggled to connect with the characters and their history. I think because the book was very short and sweet, there wasn’t much time to linger on their connection before, and how it changed. Also, I get that Ashlyn was upset about what happened between them, but come on, girl, what happened to being happy for those you care about? Also, Clayton, dude, why didn’t you explain yourself before?
I thought the characters were pretty interesting and believable, apart from, of course, the annoying things I mentioned. There were a lot of extra characters in this that were mentioned that I felt like I never truly got to know. Apparently this book is part of quite an extensive series, so this could explain why some of the characters weren’t given more detail and time in this instalment. I may go and check out the other books.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a short, sweet romance with a small-town feel that is all about a second chance at love. It’s pretty low stakes, but there is plenty of drama.

This story is by an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up. This story is also part of a series that I suggest reading all previous books as they are just as great as this one. One of the things I enjoy about this author is their creative characters that are written with a lot of heart and soul. One of the other things I enjoy about this author is their use of details. They make you feel part of the story from the beginning. This is a story about Clayton and Ashlyn. Their story is a second chance at a love story. Ashlyn had a big dream of singing and making it big until fate had other plans for her. She now teaches music and sings with her local band. Clayton moved on to live their dream but now has come home. What will happen when he is encouraged to sing with Ashlyn’s band? Will these two get their second chance at love? I enjoyed both of these characters and what they brought to the story. They are strong, well developed characters that made me not only want to know more but care about what happens to them. I enjoyed watching their growth throughout which made their story easy to read and entertaining as well. Their chemistry between them just added to their story. This is a fast paced, hard to put down story and one you don’t want to miss. I look forward to seeing what is next for this author. I highly recommend this story.

Sing for Me, Cowgirl (My Cowboy Series #8) by Brooke May

This isn't the first book I've read by the author. The author continues to amaze me with each and every book I read by them. Sing for Me, Cowgirl is the eighth book in the My Cowboy Series. I absolutely loved this book and can't wait to read more in the series.

Ashlyn thought she would be living her biggest dream with her favorite person by her side. Then that gets crushed in minutes. Now it's been a while since shes seen him. When he shows up at the rodeo kick off she isn't thrilled to have him there. Then he leaves once again without a word to anyone. When he shows back up he confesses his love for her still and then throws her for a loop. The quote I chose for her is this: “That isn’t my dream any more, Clay. I truly appreciate the word you obviously put into having them give me a chance, but I’m happy with my life here.”

Clayton never thought he'd be doing this without her next to him. Now he's supposed to be the bad boy of country music. When he's not feeling the music he's supposed to sing he goes back to his hometown. He wants to keep a low profile but then someone spots him and invites him to sing with Ash. The quote I chose for him is this: “You were always the prettiest girl in the room, but now you are the most gorgeous woman I have ever laid my eyes on.”

Sing for Me, Cowgirl (My Cowboy Series Book) by Brooke May.
4 of 5 Stars.
Another enjoyable contemporary romance in this engaging ‘My Cowboy’ series. This is a short and sweet second chance at love story, which kept me happily turning the pages. As teenage sweethearts Ashlyn and Clayton shared a dream of singing and stardom. Unfortunately whilst Ashlyn’s dreams were dashed, Clayton went on to live their dream without her. Ashlyn still sings with her local band and uses her talent to teach the stars of the future. Meanwhile, Clayton became the bad boy of country music, but he’s completely burned out and so returns to his hometown to escape. Although he wanted to keep a low profile and relax, Clayton can’t miss an opportunity to see Ashlyn sing. When her band encourages him to join them, he agrees, but Ashlyn is not impressed. However, neither of them can deny that their chemistry is still sizzling, but they will need to put the past behind them, if they are to have a future together. This heartwarming romance with its small town vibe, had me feeling fully immersed in the story. I was instantly caught up in Ashlyn and Clayton’s romance and past drama. I recommend reading the whole series as each standalone story is a page turner!

Why have I not read any of Brooke May’s books in a few years? Previously I had read, and loved, several of this author’s books and for some silly reason, unknown to me, I haven’t read any for a while. I certainly won’t be leaving it this long before reading another one.
I really enjoyed Sing For Me, Cowgirl. It’s a well written, second chance romance that takes you on a very enjoyable journey.
When country superstar Clayton Miller needs a break from his hectic life, he decides to go back home. Home to a town where he left his former girlfriend and singing partner broken hearted and wanting nothing to do with him. The thing is… she doesn’t know the full story surrounding his departure. Clayton is determined to win Ashlyn back but Ashlyn is just as determined to have nothing to do with him.
Will Clayton win the heart of Ashlyn again? Did he ever really lose it in the first place? Well, of course I’m not going to answer those questions and spoil the story for anyone considering reading this book.
I do recommend reading this book. It’s very angsty and the characters are so well written that you really can’t help falling in love with them. The story flows very well and keeps you engaged from beginning to end. So worth the 5 stars I’ve given it.

Sing For Me Cowgirl is the eighth book in the My Cowboy series by Brooke May. I have read quite a few of Ms. May’s books now, and as I have mentioned previously, I really love how well developed her characters are and how realistic and believable they seem- and how easily they are able to pull me into their ‘world’ and get me entirely invested in them and the outcome of their story.
This contemporary western romance has 2nd chances, drama, chemistry, angst, small town setting, family, and emotion.
Ashlyn once had high hopes for her future, but her dreams ended up scattered in the dust. Clayton lived a life in the spotlight, but is now burned out from the fame. What happens when fate throws them together again when he returns to his home town? Well worth the read to find out.
Even though this is the eighth book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. But, having said that though, I recommend getting your hands on the entire series as there is plenty to love about the previous books- with lots of other characters to get to know.
Looking forward to seeing what Ms. May does next!
Happy Reading…

*Sing for Me, Cowgirl* by Brooke May is a heartfelt romance that beautifully blends emotion, faith, and the healing power of love. From the very beginning, I found myself invested in the characters and eager to see where their journey would lead.

I especially enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters and the way their relationship developed naturally over the course of the story. They each carry their own hopes, fears, and past hurts, making their journey feel authentic and emotionally rewarding. Brooke May balances tender, lighthearted moments with deeper themes of trust, forgiveness, and finding the courage to move forward.

As part of the *My Cowboy* series, this book offers all the charm you would expect from a contemporary cowboy romance, with engaging dialogue, memorable supporting characters, and a setting that feels warm and inviting. The pacing kept me turning the pages, and I appreciated how the emotional moments never felt rushed.

Overall, *Sing for Me, Cowgirl* is an enjoyable read for anyone who loves sweet cowboy romances with heart, hope, and uplifting messages. I finished the book with a smile and look forward to reading more from Brooke May.

Brooke May doesn’t even need to tell me what the book is about. Just put her name on the cover and hand it over. She could write the phone book and I’d be emotionally invested by the B’s.
Sing for Me, Cowgirl once again proves why she’s an automatic read for me.
Ashlynn and Clayton have history. And not the cute “remember when we held hands in high school” kind. Nope. We’re talking hurt feelings, unfinished business, stubbornness, and enough emotional baggage to require its own pickup truck.
There were times I wanted to hug them. There were times I wanted to yell, “FOR THE LOVE OF COWBOYS, JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER!” And there were definitely times I was sitting there grinning because the chemistry was chemistry-ing.
Second chances, cowboys, romance, angst, and two hardheaded people trying to figure out what everyone reading the book already knows? Yes, please.
Brooke May got me again.
At this point, she could publish Brooke May’s Complete Guide to Watching Paint Dry and I’d preorder it, clear my schedule, and probably leave a five-star review saying the character development of Beige was phenomenal.

This is the 8th book in the My Cowboy series. I have read several books by Brooke May and I have loved every one.
This is a second chance western contemporary romance with angst, family issues, drama chemistry and a small time environment.
Even though it is the 8th book in the series it can be read as a standalone.

In this story we meet Ashley she had dreams of singing and making it big and she wasn’t the only one. However her dreams never happened where as the other person flew. Now she still sings in her local band but she now teaches the musical talent of the future.

Clayton is the person who flew. But now he is burnt out and needs a break from the fame so he returns back to his home town.
He meet Ashley again when he is asked to sing in their band. But what will happen then they meet again? Will the secrets Clayton had been carrying reveal the truth about what happened to Ashley? After the heartbreak he caused her will he be able to survive the wrath of the people closest to her? What will happen when their lives cross again?

This was a captivating read and I was completely invested in their story

Sing for Me, Cowgirl (My Cowboy Series Book 8)

4.5 stars

I read so much that is takes me a minute to connect everyone a lot of the time. But for some reason I don't have that when I read Ms. May's books.

Ashlyn's heart and dreams were crushed simultaneously when Clayton makes it and leaves home for Nashville.

Ashlyn moves on with life. She's teaching music, helps her mom in her bakery as well as helps on the farm belonging to family. She still plays music but to me it just didn't seem to make her as happy as it used to.

Clayton is the bad boy of country but is very unhappy. He isn't allowed to be who he really is, he decides to take a break and head home.

Fate decides to put them in each others path pretty early into his visit much to Ashlyn's dismay.

I really liked their story. They have to navigate so many obstacles, but nothing good in life is easy.

Ms. May has become one of the authors I will read no matter what. She hasn't disappointed me once and I honestly don't expect her to.

I'm a sucker for a good second-chance romance, and this one had me hooked from the very beginning. Watching Ashlyn and Clayton reconnect after years apart was equal parts sweet, emotional, and frustrating in the best way possible.

Ashlyn was probably my favorite part of the book. Even though life didn't turn out the way she imagined, she never gave up on her love of music. I admired how she poured her heart into teaching and helping her students while still finding joy in performing. And Clayton? Beneath the fame and "country music bad boy" reputation was a man carrying a lot more weight than people realized.

The chemistry between them was undeniable, but what really kept me turning the pages was the history they shared. There were so many moments where I wanted to shake them both and tell them to just talk to each other already! 😅

I also loved the small-town feel and Ashlyn's family. They added so much warmth, humor, and heart to the story. By the end, I was smiling, emotional, and completely invested in seeing these two get the ending they deserved.

If you love country music, second chances, and romances that leave you feeling warm and happy, this is definitely one to pick up. 🤠🎶💛📖

Sing For Me, Cowgirl is book 8 of the "My Cowboy" series by Brooke May. Its not my usual read, but its by Brooke so of course I was going to give it a shot! I unfortunately haven't read the other books in this series but as far as I can tell you can still absolutely read it as a standalone. This is a quick small town/second chance read that's full of angst, so much so I cant count how many times I wanted to just smack these two upside the head and try to get some sense into them! Oh my gosh. What a true romantic story with all the feels.
Leaving Ashlyn (Ash) behind was the biggest mistake of his life. As Clayton headed off to Nashville to fulfil his dream to be a Country Music Star, he couldn't forget the girl he left behind and the promises that they made to each other.
His life was spiralling out of control and he needed to take that control back! His bad boy image as promoted by his manager was all a lie, but Ashlyn and the folks of Elk Field don't know that.
And after 7 years he returns.
How does Elk Field welcome him back?
But more importantly how does Ash welcome him back?
Well, she doesn't!! And neither does her father, twin brother or multiple cousins lined up in protection mode to keep him away from her.
So, how does one get back what he lost so long ago?
This is a stunning story that spans years, where the heart knows what it wants and doesn't settle for less. Both Ash and Clay love each other, but with all the betrayal and heartbreak that Ash was left to deal with, it is an uphill climb for Clay to apologise and start to win her heart back. Especially when she looks at him with such hurt and anger!
Loved it completely! A well rounded story that does keep you invested in their HEA!

Need a quick read? But make that read emotionally damaging with cowboys, angst, second chances, and 2 MC's that you'll want to smack upside the head sometimes and you need to pick up May's Sing for Me, Cowgirl. I mean at this point, May is on my auto-read list. If she publishes a book, I'm downloading it ASAP. I absolutely love the way she pulls you in from the start and doesn't let you go...even once you've turned the final page. This is Book 8 in the My Cowboy series; however, they are interconnected standalones. You do get the bigger picture if you read all of them, but you don't have to. Ashlyn & Clayton's story is one for the ages...teenage love not yet meant to be. But can they rekindle what they once had? Can they move past the hurt they each caused each other? You'll have to pick this one up to find out. You will need to grab a beverage and a blanket and get comfortable because you won't be putting this down once you pick it up.

Sing for Me, Cowgirl by Brooke May. This is one of my very favorite authors so I always pick up her books and this one was no exception. It's the 8th book in the My Cowboy Series and it can be read as a standalone but I always like to read them in order. This one is the story of Ashlyn who has wanted to be a famous singer since she was in elementary school. Clay was Ashlyn's sweetheart for years and he also wanted to make it big as a singer. He left Ashlyn to go to Nashville leaving her broken hearted. He also made it in the music business. Ashlyn and Clay always thought they would be singing together for millions. When Clay comes back to town because he's got writers block and he thinks maybe he can write again back home. Ashlyn isn't excited to see Clay but they try to avoid each other. Clay wants to tell Ashlyn that he wants another chance but he can't get her to listen to him. Will he be able to convince Ashlyn he's changed? Such a great romance!

Her partner flew the coop without her and made it big time as Country Music star. All while she’s still playing with her band. When Clayton decides to go home because he’s burnt out and needs a break the last person he thought he see was Ashley that is until he is asked to sing in her band. Will this country boy get his second chance at winning over his cowgirl? This is the story of Ashlyn and Clayton, two people who knew and loved one another as youth and then teens. Only one made it big; the other stayed in their hometown to teach their love of music to other students while singing in a small hometown band. In a world where fame and fortune cannot bring you happiness, but neither can regret for choices made in your youth. Will these two be able to rekindle the love they once had for the other and mend their broken relationship, or will they fall victim to the typical country woe of broken hearts? Brooke May is such an amazing author; she's got so many amazing masterpieces that I cannot believe I'd never read any of the other books in this series. I cannot wait to go back and start at book #1 in the My Cowboy book series. Love, love, love everything I've ever read of hers.

Clayton and Ashlyn's story is sweet and to the point. I can get a sense there is a lot of interconnected characters from previous companion novels that help tie the story together beautiful.

While I do not love a miscommunication trope, I feel that both large instances of miscommunication were taken care of swiftly and even helped along with the pokes of meddling mother's. Who doesn't love a "mom who knows what's actually good for you". Clayton was a bit too timid and beaten down to fight for what he deserved and I feel that surrounding himself with his hometown and his mom really put a shift on his perspective and mental health. Ashlyn was a bit of a firecracker and flight risk, but once she saw Clayton's true intentions and not his smarmy manager, she stood by her man.

Cute fun and quick read!

I really enjoyed Ashlyn and Clayton’s story! I love reading second-chance romance and this one had the added bonus of country music and a lot of history between the two main characters.
Ashlyn and Clayton once dreamed of making it big together, but life definitely didn’t work out that way. Clayton got the fame and career, while Ashlyn stayed home and built a life around teaching music and singing with her local band. When Clayton comes back home b wanting to get away from everything, you just know these two are going to end up in each other’s path again.
I loved watching them work through their past and all the feelings that never completely went away. There are secrets, family drama, some funny moments, and plenty of emotion mixed in. Clayton dealing with Ashlyn’s family was a part I loved. The drama was an added plus. Booke May never disappoints and highly recommend this book!

I have loved every book I’ve read by this author. This one seems a bit calmer in comparison to some of her others but was just as good.

Ashlyn and Clayton grew up together and did everything with one another. When Clayton was recognized and taken to Nashville to make it big, the label wanting him, only wanted him. Him and Ashlyn were perfect together, they were the Johnny Cash and June Carter of Elk Field.

Years have passed and Ashlyn can’t stand to hear his voice on the radio. She’s still heartbroken over losing him in general and that he didn’t fight for her to come with him.

Now Clay is back in Elk Field for a much needed break. He gets Ash to forgive him only to have her think he betrayed her again.
Will Clayton and Ashlyn get the happily ever after they both want and need or has to much damage been done?

I'm no stranger to Brooke May and she doesn't disappoint in this book either. This book is 8 in the series and you can follow along just fine without reading the other 7; I think it would just give you a better understanding if you did read the previous ones. In this book, you meet Ashlyn and Clayton. Clayton is a singer and he's having a hard time fitting the mold they've created for him. Ashlyn sings locally and teaches but always had big dreams---and once upon a time, those dreams included Clayton. Circumstances clash these two back together and they can't help the feelings that are involved....even though neither of them know where to go with their new lives when the old ones follow them both.
This was a really good story! Drama, romance, suspense; everything you want in a good story!

I love a good western romance novel. I could hardly put this book down, this was well worth the read and want to go back and read the rest of the series leading until now. I feel bad that this is the first book I have read in this series by this author, but it didn't let me down. Clayton and Ashlyn were supposed to be the next Johnny and June with their music careers. Ashlyn gets left behind in her home town while Clayton goes on to become the next country sensation. Clayton comes back home to regroup and come up with some new music for his next album. He runs into Ashlyn while he is there at the rodeo with his mom. Will he get to explain to Ashlyn what happened or will he get thumped by her family? Just have to read and find out, trust me this story will not disappoint.

This is my first book ive read by this author.
Sing For Me Cowgirl is the eighth book in the My Cowboy series by Brooke May.
I really love how well developed her characters are and how realistic and believable they seem- and how easily they are able to pull me into their ‘world’ and entirely invested in the characthers and the outcome of their story.

Sing For Me Cowgirl
By Brooke May
I absolutely live books by this author, they are such an easy read and this book is no different.
This book is the 8th book in the My Cowboy series as I have not read the previous books in this series I am going to make a guess that they can be read as stand alones. Once again the characthers in this book are well developed and as a result you are pulled into their world from the beginning. You will no problems in following the story line as this author has a great way with words. Once you start reading this book you will not want to put it down. If you like second chance romance stories then this is the book for you. So grab a copy and settle in for a beautiful, well written story.

I am pretty sure I wanted to hate Clayton. I just couldn't believe he did what he did and expected to come back home after years and receive a warm welcome. I don't care how big of a superstar you are, you're a jerk! Buuutttt, after reading his thoughts and realizing more of his side, I did warm up to him...a little.
Ashlyn on the other hand, I was proud of her. She didn't let Clayton's betrayal sink in. She moved on and became her own self. And I have to think she was actually better off without him. Plus, when Clayton sauntered back home, she didn't roll over and fall back in mad love with him. The tension and unsaid words resonated across the pages and it made me happy to see him squirm.

Ashlyn, the elementary school music teacher and Clayton, the worn out country music star,  were high-school sweethearts that dreamed of being the next big country music couple. When Clayton went on to live their dream, Ashlyn was left behind.
After burning out Clayton goes back to his hometown to relax and have some peace. Ashlyn and her band, while performing, draw Clayton in and he knows exactly what he lost when he left without her. Earning her forgiveness is top priority for Clayton and eventually their feelings grow and they get a second chance at love.
This is my first Brooke May book and it was such a cute, quick second chance romance. I fell into love with the characters, their banter and personal growth arc. I'll definitely be checking out the authors other books!
