He swore never to touch a woman… until desire made his oath unbearable.
Eirik has lived under a vow forged in fear and blood. Scarred by the truth of his birth, he believes closeness is dangerous—and that surrendering to desire would unleash something unforgivable inside him. So he keeps his distance. His hands. His heart.
Until Freyja.
Fleeing Denmark and a future she cannot survive, Freyja finds refuge in Eirik’s home. His silence hides a fierce, watchful intensity that draws her closer with every passing day. The way he looks at her. The way his restraint trembles. She feels it—and she wants him all the more for it.
Forced into close quarters, their attraction smolders, sharp and consuming. Every shared breath is a test. Every accidental brush of skin sends heat spiraling through them both. Eirik’s control fractures as Freyja awakens a hunger he has denied for years—and the harder he resists, the deeper his need claws at him.
When secrets surface and danger strikes, the pull between them becomes impossible to ignore.
Living with the woman who ignites his blood, will Eirik cling to the oath that has defined him… or surrender to the desire that could either damn him—or finally set him free?
Virginie Marconato delivers a searing Viking romance steeped in emotional intensity, forbidden desire, and raw passion. Erik’s Oath is a powerful story of a wounded warrior and the woman who challenges his deepest fears—perfect for readers who crave high-stakes love, slow-burn heat, and unforgettable historical romance.
I think I became a writer the day I decided to write a (very bad, shamefully close to the real story) version of White Fang when aged nine or ten! As for the Middle Ages I fell in love with it at school during a history lesson, then Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood put its final seal on it all. A girl of twelve then, I never recovered!
“He swore never to touch a woman… until desire made his oath unbearable.”
Eirik’s Oath, the fourth installment in the Sons of Wolf series by Virginie Marconato, is a captivating Viking historical romance set in an 11th-century English village. With each book, the author draws me deeper into the lives of these characters, making their struggles and triumphs feel personal and vivid.
Eirik, a solitary man shaped by the circumstances of his birth, has vowed to avoid intimacy with women, fearing that desire might lead him astray. He lives a quiet, isolated life—close to his family but keeping everyone else at arm’s length. This changes when Freyja arrives in the village, fleeing Denmark with her young daughter. Eirik’s father entrusts him to give them shelter, as danger looms from those who wish them harm.
Eirik quickly becomes their protector, his watchful and reserved demeanor masking the intense attraction growing between him and Freyja. As secrets unravel and threats close in, the bond between them can no longer be denied. Both characters carry the weight of past tragedies, and their gradual opening up to one another feels authentic and deeply moving.
Marconato writes with compassion and heart, creating emotional moments that resonate without ever feeling forced. The romance that blossoms between Eirik and Freyja is tender, passionate, and well-earned, making their eventual happiness all the more satisfying.
This story is a richly emotional and heartfelt addition to the series, and a must-read for fans of Viking-era romance filled with emotional intensity, forbidden desires, danger, healing, and love.

This is book 4 in the Sons of Wolf series. Your will re- meet some of the characters form the previous stories books 1-3. Eirik is Wolf’s adopted son from his wife but he loves and treats him as his own. But due to his knowledge of his birth he refuses to get into a relationship with any women. So he lives alone and keeps mostly to himself. Freyja arrived from Denmark in search of the village where she lived as a child. She is also hiding from an evil man that was on the ship her. Wolf asks Eirik to house Freyja and keep her safe. There was an instant attraction between them but neither took action. They slowly get to know each other and about each others pasts both good and bad. Together they face some danger and challenges but love grows between them. This is a sweet and loving story of promises and oaths made but broken for all the right and valuable reasons. It was a really enjoyable story.

Eirik and Freyja are my favorite so far and I loved all the other couples! Eirik made a vow since he was conceived in violence he would never complete intimacy with a woman! When he is asked up Shelter Freyja and her adopted daughter Asta have brought so much joy to Eirik he didn’t know what hit him or what he was missing! When an evil uncle comes to take Asta from Freyja all bets are off! To her Freyja is her child and she will stop at nothing to free her from a monster! There are lots of steam and surprises and Eirik makes himself vulnerable by confronting his past and his father! These two go through so much! You cheer them on to a wonderful HEA! I received an ARC copy from Booksprout for my unbiased opinion!
This series lets you meet many people from this village and read their stories. It feels like you are part of the village yourself.
Eirik and Freyja get to know each other without a physical relationship, which gives them time to really understand and value their characters. Because of the more sedate growth of their relationship it feels like it is less tumultuous than expected, but the warmth and growth of their relationship is very tangible, well written and I loved it.
So, even though I felt this one was a bit less gripping compared to the other books in the series, it is still yet another awesome addition to a great series, I could not recommend it more.
Protection, Possessions, Positively Wonderful Story This series continues to enchant me with its intriguing stalwart characters that reside in a village where the Nordic Danes and Saxtons are now making new lives in a foreign land. This story is about Erik and Freyja. We follow them as they come together not as a couple which will soon change into an emotionally passionate love story that kept me on the edge until the very enjoyable ending. A good size cast of characters that keeps growing as you read each book of the series. Each book is a standalone story of discovering love. Mature Advisory 3/5
I absolutely love this series and have gotten to know several of the characters within it. Eirik and Freyja get to know each other slowly through difficult and trying circumstances. I absolutely loved their characters and how they were so open and honest and compassionate both characters were towards each other but towards others as well. Both have experience heartbreaking circumstances that brought them together but also brought them closer. I really enjoyed the strength of both characters as well.
This story takes us on an emotional journey with two people that have to face more than most of us could ever handle. The strength of these characters to survive, finding positive love and desire to live is awesome inspiring. An intense, gripping plot that will hold you captive until the bitter end. Impressive.

This fourth book in the Son's of the Wold series was an intense Viking historical experience. The drama, action, intrigue, death, violence, abuse, loss, kidnapping, suspense, troubled childhoods, incidents, strong emotions, and issues with intense twists were very engaging. I enjoyed how love mended and grew into a strong true love. The ending was lovely. I highly recommend reading!
A slow building love story, with a bit of history of the way of life of this time. They way they lived. The food and drink. What they wore. Their trips to buy necessities. The violence of the time. This village, with its acceptance of the women wronged, and the way their lives changed, is a good example of what could be, but wasn't always.
