I went looking for a cure. I found a nine-foot barbarian who decided I was his.
Solaris was supposed to be safe—a shining city sealed against the frozen wasteland. Then my mother died begging for treatment the Clergy refused to give. So I ran into the ice to find the truth. Instead, I nearly froze to death… and woke in the arms of a frost-skinned warrior carved from winter itself.
Karth is bound to a brutal trial. Until he kills the legendary beast stalking his people, he cannot take a mate. But he can still touch me. Still mark me. Still make sure every warrior knows I belong to him.
He calls it Starblood. Says my body answers his for a reason. Says the bond between us will either save me from what’s waking beneath the ice… …or doom us both.
My city wants me burned for heresy. Something ancient wants me consumed. And the barbarian who rescued me? He refuses to let me go.

This was a fab series opener with great world building, fascinating characters and an intense plot. Lira is a researcher looking for herbal cures for her people after her mother passed from a sickness that she may have been able to heal. However, her journey takes her outside the dome and into the frozen tundra of their world. Karth, a frostborn warrior, is on the trial of his life, when he finds Lira. He knows she's his mate but he's prevented from claiming her until his trial is done. What follows is an exciting page turner filled with action, danger, betrayal, twists, shocking connections and hot chemistry. This story ends on a HFN and I can't wait to get the next book to see how their story continues to unfold. Good fun!
This is a fantastic, spicy paranormal book. Lira is a researcher who is restricted by the city leaders to only what they will allow her to study. She knows of plants that can cure the sickness in the city, but they forbid her from working with them. Now she is outside the city shield and soon meets a native, Karth, who is also her fated mate. Be ready for super-hot steam, extreme size differences, and lots of action. This book will keep you on edge till the end. Karth and Lira are excellent characters who get a perfect happy ending. I enjoyed this book so much! I'm looking forward to the next one :).
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book started out interesting, but disjointed storylines, events happening out of order, scenes repeated, conversations repeated, a bj to save a life, and the devolution of the story to assault by a priest brought this book from a possibly 4 star down to barely 2.
Wth is this book? Not sure where all these great reviews came from, because this book is a mess. Not sure if it was written by ai and that’s why it’s such a mess, or it is intentional. Either way, I cannot recommend this to anyone, and the only reason it gets 2 stars is because the initial storyline was interesting, it just didn’t hold up after the first 30 pages.
The plot and set up for this book was good. And I really like that the FMC is looking for herbal remedies. And the action in this was fun. And of course our MMC can’t claim his mate till the trial that he is currently on is done. This reminded me of the fun that I had reading Ruby Dixon. Can’t wait for the next one.
What a read!! The story is something that makes you wish the Frostborn were real! And she didn't need the MDA to help her find a mate! Where are these MDA applicants and Frostborn you ask? Right here in the pages and imagination of Kira Fire! Read her works, you won't be disappointed!
