She left with my heart.
And my son.

I didn’t know she was pregnant when she walked out of my life.
Now she’s back — in my city, in my mother’s house, in my goddamn head—and I see it clear as day.
My boy has my eyes. My name.
And she’s still got my body memorized.

Juliet thinks I’ll back off. That I’ll walk away like I did six years ago.

She forgets — I don’t lose twice.

I gave up everything. The boardroom. The legacy. The empire my father died building.
For her.
For them.

Now I want it all.
My son. My girl. The family I never got to choose the first time.

She’s scared. She should be.
Because I don’t knock anymore.
I walk in and make it mine.

And yes, the baby calls me Daddy now.
So does she.

Read on for secret babies, billionaire breakdowns, angry single moms, emotional reunions, and the most dangerous thing of all—a man who’s finally ready to stay. HEA Guaranteed!

Nope...DNF'd

I decided to DNF this more than halfway through. The FMC, Juliet, was so unlikable to me. For something like 18 chapters, she rehearsed her bitter bitch routine...."you left us, "you put your family's business before us, " you made your choice"...blah blah blah...on and on. But, when they broke up THERE WAS NO "US"! (Sorry for yelling, but she pissed me off.). She didn't even know she was pregnant, and when she found out, she didn't tell him. Making it repeatedly sound like he chose to leave his pregnant gf and unborn child, which was not what happened, annoyed my soul.

Can I go back to the beginning for a second... to a point what probably should have given me a clue how this book was going to play out for me? Juliet is taking a nursing job in Brooklyn for a woman named Jessalyn Rockford. Her ex's last name was Rockford. But she thinks that name is so common that this can't be her ex's family. Really? That's what you're going with? We aren't told how long she and Chase dated...or maybe it was in there somewhere, but when I decided to DNF, I kinda skipped around, so I may have missed it...but in the time they dated, she never learned his mother's name?

They met and dated in college. She going for her nursing degree, he for business. She wanted to travel the world helping people (think Doctors Without Borders). I have no idea what she thought he would be doing....with his business degree...while she was out healing the nations; and I don't know why it would come as such a shock that he would work for his family's company. (Maybe he was supposed to do the bookkeeping for her international medical conglomerate?) What I really want to know is how a 22-y.o., fresh out of college, takes over as CEO of a company? Did I mention fresh out of college?

Let's skip around a bit and talk about his booty call buddy at work. Monique and Chase were in a "situationship," which is newfangled terminology for non-exclusive booty calls...emphasis on non-exclusive, which Chase brings up at least twice when talking to "Bitter Becky." Doesn't this inherently mean that they both were free to see other people? But Monique is upset because he's seeing someone else? Make it make sense. Does he a tattoo on his forehead that says "Bitter Ass Women Wanted"?

AND...if I never have to read or hear the phrase "cracked something open in my chest"...or some iteration of that...that doesn't have to do with open heart surgery, I should be so lucky. And every other thing one of them said "cost" them something. For the sake of all that is good and right, get a thesaurus! Or a talented editor.

Something else I didn't understand... Jessalyn, like many a mother, decided to play matchmaker with her nurse and her single son. When the situation backfires, she says something to Chase like, "what did you do," and "I see how you look at Juliet" (or something along those lines)... like she was surprised something happened between them. Um...what?

I try not to be super harsh when I write reviews of books I didn't like. This is someone's work...and it's work that I don't think I could do. Other people may think Juliet is a strong single mom doing what's necessary. I...obviously... thought she was bitter and bitchy, and she was positioning herself to have her son grow up to hate her.

I tried. I did. I wanted to be open and objective and fair. Inconsistencies, typos, unlikable characters, and stuff that just doesn't make sense in the real world lead me to a DNF and a one-star rating.

Second chance at ❤️

A beautiful story of a second chance at getting it right. Juliet and Chase were in love six years ago, but due to family obligations Chase broke up with Juliet. Six years later with a five year old son she gets a job as a traveling nurse in New York. Her client unknown to her turns out to be her ex boyfriend's mother. Well a lot happens and they get a second chance at becoming a family. Lovely story.

Messy Makes Three

Chase was trying to run things but he was the one that ended the relationship. Glad Juliet made him sweat it out because it wasn’t like his family was against her. Monique was reckless & got played by Chase! Thomas was a sweetheart & so was Chase’s Mum! 😘😘

A Great Read

I really enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put it down. On many occasions, I was almost late for work reading this book. I can’t wait to read the next one. May The Lord continues to bless you to write many more books like this one.
