Being sold to a silver fox mafia boss is not how I pictured my Christmas.
My father didn’t just gamble away his money. He gambled me away, too.
One moment I’m planning other people’s perfect holidays... And the next, my front door splinters, and I’m told I’m collateral.
I’m hauled into the dark, dressed up like a gift, and placed beneath crystal chandeliers while monsters in designer suits sip champagne and bid on a living woman.
The Winter Solstice Auction calls it business. I call it a funeral for my freedom.
Then Dante Volkov steps in.
Cold eyes, tailored perfection, and the kind of power that doesn’t need to raise its voice. He doesn’t celebrate December, he rules it. One number leaves his mouth, and the room goes silent.
He doesn’t win me. He claims me.
I should run. I should hate him. Instead, I’m starting to learn the truth about men like Dante Volkov.
They don’t let you go. They don’t forgive debts.
And when they decide you’re theirs, they don’t just buy your body… They start a war to keep your soul.
**Auctioned At Christmas is a steamy, Forced-proximity, snow-drenched age-gap mafia romance packed with danger and obsession. No cheating, no cliffhangers, just a scorching HEA.
Age Gap...probably not based upon the book cover picture of Dante.
Clara and Dante's story was a bit clinical at times, but also showed a MFC, that was smart and not just window dressing. So many female characters in these books are the same repetitive "type" that authors continue to focus on. Some may have found it boring while I liked the idea that this woman wasn't just another heroine who was arm candy, but found her footing in a situation where she had little control, but successfully managed to carve out a place for herself in this story. Too many of these female characters lose themselves to sex with the abductor right off the bat. Give we an orgasm and I'll forget how you destroyed my life in 3-2-1, lift-off. I liked that this was a slow burn sexual relationship and liked Dante's character. He had his sister's death to deal with, but found in Clara more than just someone who reminded him of his sister.
The story has enough of suspense, twists and bad players for most people who like reading this genre. Authors do need to keep in mind when picking book covers to make sure the person on the front of the book represents the actual character in the book.
I found the description to be exhaustingly repetitive. Also there were inconsistencies about location. The main characters were at the estate with extensive grounds and then suddenly they were in a high rise with the sounds of the city. At a dinner party, the rival was not in attendance but later was present. Mostly I was disappointed by the lack of passion. Everything was sterile and clinical. No emotion or angst ever demonstrated. No feeling of love or expectation of a happily ever after.
This Christmas will be unlike anyother for Clara when her fathers debt lead her to be auctioned and brought by Dante, and he doesnt have plans on letting her go. Well written engaging steamy age gap desires debt repayment auction and more
It was a good book. I enjoyed it. But I found a lot of the verbiage to repeat itself. I think the last chapter was totally unnecessary because it just repeated what she said throughout the whole book.
This has a great storyline with good theatrical writing but there were repeated chapters, POVs switching randomly in chapters. The plot and the potential is so good it just need to be balanced out with the correct editing!
