It’s hard to get into a festive mood when I know I’ll be all alone on Christmas Day. Can anyone blame me for getting tipsy and deciding to try out a fae-summoning spell I found in an old book?
Yes, they can. Because the spell works, and suddenly there’s a hot-and-sexy fae in front of me, unable to go home until he’s kept me company for Christmas. Too bad he’s so cranky, or it would be a dream come true… right?
LOUISA MASTERS started reading romance much earlier than her mother thought she should. While other teenagers were sneaking out of the house, Louisa was sneaking romance novels in and working out how to read them without being discovered. She’s spent most of her life feeling sorry for people who don’t read, convinced that books are the solution to every problem. As an adult, she feeds her addiction in every spare second, only occasionally tearing herself away to do things like answer the phone and pay bills. She spent years trying to build a “sensible” career, working in bookstores, recruitment, resource management, administration, and as a travel agent, before finally conceding defeat and devoting herself to the world of romance novels. Louisa has a long list of places first discovered in books that she wants to visit, and every so often she overcomes her loathing of jet lag and takes a trip that charges her imagination. She lives in Melbourne, Australia, where she whines about the weather for most of the year while secretly admitting she’ll probably never move.
Clueless disaster as a MC and a cranky fae as love interest. This was very fun, I enjoyed it a lot. But one can clearly see that that this would be so much better without a time skip that glosses over so many good moments. I hope the author would go back one day to expand the story.
Let me start by saying the plot of this sounded extremely fun and cute ,, and I feel like it could’ve lived up to that if it hadn’t of been made into a novella or at least if it had been longer than it was. Novellas already are a hit and miss for me because I like to see connections formed and really feel the emotions but sometimes it can work.
But, there is a two week time jump between the main characters meeting to them being like omg yay ily – like we don’t see any of their interactions that cause the feelings to shift or anything even close to it. I was sitting here reading it with a confused look on my face because what do you mean we find out there is a time limit and then it’s just hey time is up im so sad this has to end.
Anyway, if one doesn’t mind a speedrun ( an understatement really ) christmas romance you’re going to love it. But, if you don’t want some whiplash and to not witness any of the romance basically then yeah not for you.

I have loved all the other Louisa Masters books but this one was fine at best. It was boring, with no action or drama. The guy was fae but other than making a small ball of light did not fae-like. Normally the characters have a depth to them and are interesting, neither of these did. I am disappointed and wouldn't recommend this book unless it was free.
A rather short Christmas tale, shunned by his parents a young man lives as best he can working in a old book shop where he comes across and old book of spells. Christmas is coming and he wishes he wasn't alone, he reads the spells and wonders . . Yep! He goes there.
B-, mainly because it's only about 60 pages and lacks some plot/character development.
This is a cute story and a quick read. I wish it'd been a novella and had room for a little more character development, but it was still a nice way to spend an hour or so.
Great short standalone Christmas themed story with the usual level of funny snark you'd expect from a Louisa Masters book and some great thoughts about appreciating what we have.
