Travis Hale has four computer monitors, a caffeine addiction, and zero interest in human interaction.
He hasn't left his compound in two years. Whatever the CIA did to him—or made him do—sent him underground, literally, into a Montana bunker disguised as a ranch house where the surveillance system is military-grade and the man who once ran field ops now doesn’t leave his own driveway.
Or so everybody thinks.
He’s vital to Warrior Security operations from within his fortified walls. He’d die for them and knows the feeling is mutual. But even his brothers-in-arms don’t know the truth...
When predators slip into the shadows, Travis follows.
He fights the battles that never make it to daylight. The system has rules. He doesn’t. And no one ever traces anything back to him.
It costs him more than anyone knows. So be it.
But when a ghost from his past shows up on his doorstep—soft where he’s sharp, open where he’s guarded—Travis will learn that even men who choose the dark can still step into the light.
Sera is an FBI analyst who is largely ignored, even though she has found a pattern of criminal activity. It’s not her job to follow that, so no one pays attention to what she has to say.
Travis has been cooped in an underground bunker ever since his old partner and girlfriend who was also Sera’s sister was killed. He became an agoraphobic, unable to leave his building. Except that he had been leaving his building going on solo missions to rescue children.
This is one of those stories where the two people that were meant together were in love all along, but were avoiding saying anything to the other person because of someone already in the middle. This wasn’t a run-of-the-mill misunderstanding trope. It was a little complicated, but in a good way.
I liked that their whole purpose was to save children, a friend dropped off three kittens to foster at Travis’s bunker, and that was part of the softness that was the beginning of his salvation. Five stars for a very mildly spicy romantic suspense.
This was truly an amazing read. Travis's story and his romance with Sera were both in my opinion absolutely captivating. Intense, raw, emotional, suspenseful, dramatic, spicy, action-packed, tragic and twisty, this powerfully moving tale delivers the chills, thrills and swoon to keep you glued to the pages and up late, have you crying because your heart feels like it's breaking right in there in your chest and makes you fall so hard it is a miracle that there isn't a crater somewhere with your name on it.
That’s what they call him. He is home bound for the most part but he refuses to stop his solo activities.
Sera is a FBI analyst. They don’t believe her. So she seeks out Travis to help her split up a trafficking ring.
That man rebuilt his entire world to make room for you.
This subject matter always gives me the creeps but this story was done with that in mind. In the end all our warriors are brought together to end this one with a satisfying conclusion and a HEA.
Fantastic book. Travis fascinated me from his first appearance in the books, and I looked forward to learning more about him. His backstory is heartbreaking. Formerly a CIA agent, he had a romantic relationship with his partner, Naomi. When she died during an operation, he left the agency. The grief and guilt develop into agoraphobia and cause him to lock himself away in his specially built home. He works with Warrior Security when they need his specialized help. Even then, he keeps a certain distance from them. None of them know about Travis's lone missions to protect innocents.
Sera is a contract analyst for the FBI, a job she took after her sister's death to find a way to take down those responsible for her death. She is a mathematical genius who can spot patterns that no one else notices. When she assembles information on the child traffickers, her boss at the FBI blows her off and tells her to stick to her assignments. Frustrated, Sera decides to take her data to the one person who might be able to help - her sister's former boyfriend, Travis.
I loved how Sera breached Travis's security. His reaction to finding her in his pool was terrific and quite a wake-up call. I liked how he listened to her story, but was frustrated at his initial reaction. Fortunately, his conscience got the better of him, and he was able to redeem himself spectacularly. It also made Sera a guest in his home and a partner in their joint mission to stop the trafficker. I loved their teamwork. Travis said it best: "Sera's mind didn't just fill gaps in my analysis. It worked the way mine did, from a different angle. The two perspectives together produced something neither of us could build alone." I also enjoyed watching Sera become a part of his life, though he fought it all the way. There were deeply emotional exchanges as each opened up about their pasts and the effects on who they are now. There were also some lighthearted moments (frequently involving kittens). The question becomes whether they can let go of their fears enough to build a life together. I loved the ending - it was so perfectly Travis.
The suspense of the story kept me hooked from start to finish. Travis's lone excursions, carried out despite the physical effects on him, showed the depths of his commitment to his mission. Sera's determination to do her part to bring down the person responsible for her sister's death led her to take risks that could turn deadly. When they teamed up, the intensity increased, as the bad guys' frustration with the interference reached explosive levels. I cheered when Travis finally confessed to his Warrior Security brothers and asked for their help. The final confrontation was a nail-biter that could have gone wrong in so many ways, and nearly did. I loved the part of the epilogue that got Travis out of hot water - you have to love small towns and how they look out for their own.
I loved the involvement of the rest of the men of Warrior Security. It's always great to catch up with the characters from previous books. I love how they are included as logical, vital parts of the plot, not just thrown in willy-nilly. I laughed out loud when Lark showed up with the three kittens, and Travis tried to get out of taking them. But my favorite secondary "character" was Maude, the AI companion that runs Travis's house and his life. I loved her snark, her habit of understatement, and how she looks after Travis. His threats to donate her to various kitchen appliances were hilarious.
Agoraphobia is defined by the Mayo Clinic as “involves fearing and avoiding places or situations that might cause panic and feelings of being trapped, helpless or embarrassed. …may fear an actual or upcoming situation.” Leaving the comfort of home..making it secure and non-threatening. Josie Jade’s hero, Travis Hale is a computer genius, a former CIA operative, a member of Warrior Security, a superhero at night and suffers from extreme Agoraphobia. His hands shake and his body gets covered in burning hives yet for 18 months, he has gone out alone at night rescuing children from being trafficked. Travis’ only aid is his computer program “Maude” who monitors his health/sleeping habits/food intact and is a hoot. Sera Bolland is a contractor for the FBI. She is a math geek who sees patterns in movements of the Kindt Group who killed her FBI sister, the love-interest of Travis. Sera finds a pattern which her superiors at the FBI overlook so she heads out to find Travis who she hopes will see what she sees and help her track them down. Letting anyone, literally into, his home is not something Travis does willingly. He returns from a nightly raid to recoup and finds his space has literally been invaded by Sera who has managed to get past his safeguards. Sera has been secretly in love with Travis since she met him. The second daughter who stands in her sister’s shadow. Now she only wants help in bringing down the people who killed her sister and stopping their trafficking. Into all of this, Travis will have to break down his personal and professional rules including admitting to his fellow Warrior Security as well as to Resting Warrior Ranch re lies he has told about his nocturnal adventures.
Josie Jade has once agin written compelling and heartbreaking characters. How does one live and work with an overwhelming phobia which causes literal pain and survive? How does a younger sibling learn to stand on her own and to do it well. While Travis is complicated by virtue of his illness, his past and his possible future; Sera is fierce, feisty and brilliant. She takes no prisoners which includes Travis. Readers will pull for both of them together and separately. Their dialogue is so real and emotional, readers will have to pause and turn the next page. A stand alone book, still there are scenes and dialogue with the men of Warrior Security and Resting Warriors which is always nice to see.
Will they be successful and take down Kindt? Will the FBI realize that Sera actually has figured out answers they failed to see. Who is the Ghost? What is up with Maude? And about Lark and the three kittens… a hit. This reader has already done a reread before writing this review. Ms Jade has once again written a page-turner. Readers will love her characters, real and imagined. Can I please give it more than 5 stars?
Warrior Security Travis is the fourth book in the Warrior Security series by the author. It has been the one that I have been waiting for the MOST!! It checks every box for a romantic suspense book and in true Josie Jade style, it is delivered with a happily ever after with the perfect mix of sexy and suspense.
Warrior Security Travis is a standalone book, but I highly recommend reading the first three books of the series beforehand if you can so you can follow along with the side characters and what has happened so far with all the characters since the books overlap a little bit and go in order of events and recap.
Never did I imagine that Travis’s book would be this and I am not sad about it! I loved every minute of it! If you have read the previous Warrior Security books, then you are familiar with Travis Hale’s character and know how he is. He is an energy drink junkie who hasn’t left his compound in 3 years and is a computer genius who can pretty much find anything he sets his mind to. What we didn’t know was the back story to why he hasn’t left the comfort of his concrete abode in so long, what led to his agoraphobia, and the toll leaving his house takes on his body is absolutely insane. And all it took was a face from his past to break into his house and turn him into a new man who can face his fears.
Sera Bolland decided that she wanted to do more with her life three years ago so she decided to be a contractor for the FBI. And when Sera needs the expertise of someone who has way better computer skills than her on a case she has been working on, she turns to the only person who can help her and the last person she wants to see, her sister’s ex-boyfriend, Travis.
Sera and Travis’ love story is one for the books and an emotional roller coaster ride. This story definitely pulls at your heart strings in more ways than one and the revelation that occurs will make your jaw drop. These two were made for each other- they complete one another like two peas in a pod. Don’t want to give away too many details here but it’s a slow burn with steamy goodness.
I love having books where the characters and worlds overlap. I loved seeing the Warrior Security and Resting Warrior members appear in this book! Made my heart so happy!!!
Can’t wait to read Lark’s book! So excited to hear her story! If you have been on the fence to read this book or this series, this is your sign to do so! It is so good and you will not regret reading this book!
This installment of the Warrior Security Series definitely had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning. Travis is everyone’s favorite agoraphobic tech guy, however what happens when said agoraphobic feels deep guilt & the need to save innocents? I absolutely love Travis because he’s always got the answers and will help his teammates anytime they need him. Travis is quick with his snarky remarks and makes sure everyone close to him remains as far as possible away from him. What happens when your past comes literally breaking into your safe space? Travis plans for every variable and contingency, but he didn’t plan for Sera. Sera has always felt that she existed in her sister’s shadow, that she could never measure up to her sister. It’s even worse after her sister dies whip being an agent with the FBI, Sera becomes even more invisible. Not feeling seen, listened to, respected or heard is probably some of the hardest things someone with a kind and soft heart will ever deal with. Once Sera realizes there’s only one person who can help her with an extremely dangerous person she will stop at nothing to get Travis to listen to her. Will Travis open up and let Sera into his actual world or will she become just like his Warrior Security teammates where they are kept at a very vast distance? When two people dance around the chemistry but are terrified of what the other will think of them can they move past it? Is there too much pain from the past to allow real feelings and love to develop? Travis will stop at nothing to stop this dangerous crime ring, even if that means allowing Sera to help. However when that help isn’t enough and the “good guys” and the bad guys are searching for the same person can Travis finally come clean to his entire team? This book had so many beautiful, heartbreaking, funny, sweet, terrifying, intense and passionate moments that I spent most of my time figuratively biting my nails and having to take deep calming breaths. Travis and Sera show everyone how truly everyone is important and deserves love and to be seen by those who are truly important. Please make sure you read all of Resting Warrior Ranch and Warrior Security if you love strong mmc’s and powerful fmc’s, beautiful written stories full of action, adventure, passion, healing, found families and so much more.
TRAVIS is the fourth instalment in Josie Joanne’s contemporary, adult WARRIOR SECURITY erotic, romantic suspense series, a spin off from the author’s RESTING WARRIOR RANCH series. This is IT specialist Travis Hale, and FBI analyst Sera Bolland’s story line. TRAVIS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Travis and Sera) TRAVIS follows Sera Bolland as she seeks help from the man she has loved from afar. Three years earlier, Travis’s partner Naomi was killed while on assignment, and for the past two years, former CIA operative and IT Specialist Travis Hale has sequestered himself in an underground bunker where the surveillance system is regulated by a watchful AI. Sera’s arrival finds our hero struggling between head and heart, as he battles the demons that continue to control, demons that once revealed may send Sera running in another direction but Travis has uncovered a human trafficking organization, and our heroine is determined to protect Travis from the demons that threaten to destroy.
The world building focuses on several pathways including Travis’ emotional and psychological disability that keeps him trapped behind mortar and steel but when Sera reveals a pattern in Travis’ surveillance, Travis must call in help from the team at Warrior Security.
The relationship between Travis and Sera is one of the forbidden in the wake of Sera’s connection to Travis’ ex partner. Having loved Sera from afar, Travis struggles with his attraction to a woman who could break his heart. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and intense.
The secondary and supporting characters are energetic and charismatic. We are reintroduced to several members of the Warrior Security Team, as well as Lark Monroe, a young woman who runs an animal rescue. Lark’s story is next
TRAVIS is a story of secrets and lies, love and loss, family and friendships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is dramatic and heart breaking; the romance is emotional; the characters are determined and dynamic
~ Excellent addition to the series ~ Have been eagerly waiting to find out more about Travis and was thrilled he found the perfect woman for him in Sera ~
What I liked: * Travis Hale: agoraphobic, computer savvy, ex-CIA agent, lives off the grid, rarely seen by others, complex, brilliant, conflicted, intriguing, has a secret * Sera Bolland: FBI analyst, overlooked at work, made to feel “less than” by others, bright, sees patterns, works well with Travis, strong, resilient, felt chemistry for Travis while her sister dated him * Watching the relationship develop between Travis and Sera and understanding their conflicts and feelings as the story progressed * The open, honest, mature communication between the main characters * The way Travis and Sera were able to understand one another and work together as a team * That I became immersed in the story and cared about the outcome * Getting to see characters from previous books in the series * Being able to hate the bad guys while hoping that Karma would provide justice if nobody else did * The plot, pacing, setting, and writing * Knowing that there is another book to look forward to
What I didn’t like: * Lucian Kindt: human trafficker of young children and all he worked with/supplied * Thinking about the people who are traffickers and the horrific impact they have on so many * Knowing that trafficking is all too real in this world
Did I like this book? Yes Would I read more in this series? Yes
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review. 5 Stars
Loved this book from beginning to end. Travis Hale was comfortable in from the safety of his computers. He didn’t need to be around other people. Yes he had friends, and whatever they needed he would do for them. It only consisted by computers. He hid things from them. He lost someone, and this pain he was going through was his penance. It all changed when Sera came into his house. She broke through his defenses, and he didn’t know why. Sera needed Travis’s help so she goes to see him in Garnet Bend. She heads straight to her house. But the house is a fortress with codes to get into it. Her sister told her one time that he used to call her something. So she used it, and surprised it opened up the gates. There was one more place she needed the password. It was weird since her sister was dead, and she was in her Travis’s home. She’s had a thing for him a long time. She would never say anything. Even now. The last time she’d seen him was at the funeral. After Travis finds her in his home it’s not very welcoming, but then again she did break in. She tried to explain. He tells her to leave, and that he would not help her. So she does just that. It was disappointing to say the least. Something changed when he came to her home. He told her it wasn’t safe for her anymore. They needed to go to his home in Garnet Bend. A mission to bring down a man who was getting away with some terrible things. It gets more complicated; and they need to call in his friends. It won’t be easy at all. He’s been lying to them.
This was a roller coaster of emotions. My heart was all over the place. Highly recommend this book, and this series.
I was so looking forward to Travis’ story and it was all that I had hoped for and MORE!! Travis Hale is the man that Warrior Security depends on for his amazing computer skills. He lives in an underground compound that he built for his medical reasons, including agoraphobia. He has also been working side missions that Warrior Security is unaware of, with the assistance of his computer system, Maude. Maude (who is a real hoot!) tracks his missions as well as his health. Sera Bolland works at the FBI computer operations center and has formulated a comprehensive tracking of missing children. When her information is disregarded, by the FBI, she attempts to contact Travis. Her sister was former CIA and had worked with Travis, who is also former CIA. Finding his compound, it was just by luck that she knew his passcode. Travis returns home from another mission and finds Sera in his home. Explaining what she has discovered about missing children, he tells her she cannot stay. When Maude warns him that Sera is in danger, he brings her back to his compound. She offers to work with him to end the group who are trafficking in the area. She has never felt “enough”, always being compared to her CIA sister who had once been involved with Travis. When she realizes that he and the men from Warrior Security are in danger, she tries to warn them. Putting herself in danger with the leader of the trafficking group, will Travis be able to find her in time or has he lost his last chance at love? Absolutely wonderful with action, romance and suspense! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
I really enjoyed Travis. It’s one of those books that pulls you in quickly and keeps you invested the whole time.
Travis is a really interesting character - super smart, a little intense, and clearly dealing with a lot from his past. He’s basically shut himself off from the world, so watching him slowly start to open up was one of the best parts of the book. He’s not your typical easy to love main character, but that’s kind of what makes him work.
Sera was a great match for him. She’s strong in her own way, even if she doesn’t always see it herself. I liked how she didn’t just back down or disappear - she pushes into his world and kind of forces things to change, which the story really needed.
The story itself has a lot going on (action, suspense, some darker elements) but it doesn’t feel overwhelming. There’s a solid plot around taking down some really bad people, and it keeps things moving. At the same time, there’s a lot of emotion underneath it all, especially with both of them dealing with guilt and their pasts.
The relationship between Travis and Sera builds in a way that feels earned. It’s not instant or perfect as they both have stuff to work through but that makes it more believable.
Also, small thing, but I loved the little details like the animals and some of the lighter moments mixed in with everything else. It helped balance out the heavier parts of the story.
If you enjoy complex romantic, suspenseful books and have not read Josie Jade’s Warrior Security books, then you are missing some fantastic riveting page-turners with non-stop action.
Travis’ story has an intricate, multifaceted, skillfully written plot that will grab your attention from the very beginning. This story also has so many twists and turns that it will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
Travis worked for the CIA for years. However, his last mission was so terrible he has not been able to get over it. During that mission, his partner, and girlfriend, dies. Since then he lives like a hermit and has not left his compound in two years. He has gone underground and only speaks to his team when they call him and force him to talk to them.
Meanwhile, his late girlfriend’s sister, who works for the FBI, forces herself into Travis’ bunker. She wants to show him the comprehensive, detailed map she constructed of the area where Travis’ last mission took place. She wants to partner up with Travis so they can destroy the degenerate criminals and demolish their evil “business” that is damaging innocent people.
Eventually, Travis and his new partner will discover their feelings for each other and also learn that, no matter how bad everything seems to be, it is still possible to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Travis Hale is complex, a brilliant computer specialist, driven and intense and a recluse because of agoraphobia. He's ex-CIA and has secrets, no one is allowed to breach the walls he's built. Sera Bolland has always been overlooked, by her family and at work, made to feel like less especially with constant comparison to her now deceased CIA sister. But Sera is equally brilliant working as a contract analyst for the FBI, she sees patterns and makes links others can't. She has been building the evidence piece by piece against the child trafficker and his organisation that was responsible for her sisters death but the FBI simply won't listen or look at her work. Spooked when her poking around in systems she shouldn't be in attract dangerous attention she seeks the help of Travis - her sister's boyfriend. Simply loved this story, the plot was fascinating and every interaction between Travis and Sera was perfect, watching their relationship develop and especially the way their understanding and acceptance of each other grew was deeply satisfying. It was also gritty and emotional, make no mistake the trafficking subject matter is horrific but watching these two fractured but not broken, emotionally scarred characters find their way together was everything, there's plenty of action and suspense too as secrets unravel and truths emerge. I have been desperately waiting for Travis' story to arrive hooked by the glimpses of the grumpy and intriguing man in all his complexity and it is so so so worth the wait, thanks you Josie Jade for constantly delivering, this story is now my favourite.
Three years ago Travis Hale was a CIA operative and something happened that changed the trajectory of his life. He relocated to Garnet Bend and rebuilt it. He has been living at his home/compound and doing remote assistance work for Warrior Security. He's existing and trying to control the demons of his past but one day, someone shows up that he never expected to see again. Sera Bolland has been working as a Federal contractor ever since her older sister was killed in the line of duty on an op gone wrong. She was a CIA operative and was Travis' partner. Sera has been researching the human trafficking ring that killed her sister and thinks that she has found the trail but none of her superiors will listen to her evidence. She makes a decision to track down Travis Hale and see if he will listen to the evidence that she's found. Travis and Sera have a history and it's a tangled one but this operation is too important to ignore. I loved Travis and Sera together. They balance each other out perfectly but they need to stay alive in order to have the future that they both want and deserve. Travis was told from dual POV. It's loaded with action, angst, laughter, tears and heat! A fantastic romantic suspense thriller!
I voluntarily reviewed "TRAVIS" WARRIOR SECURITY I thoroughly enjoyed this intense, intriguing, suspense filled action packed emotional journey you can't out down. Sera Bolland is an FBI Analyst Agent who's not appreciated at he r job she smart, sees things others don't not taking her seriously. Travis Hale is a genious with computers vital to Warrior Security operations but he hides in his bunker of a home not seeing others if possible & hiding a secret from his brothers. Sera decides to search Travis out in Garnet Bend to help with the human trafficking ring that took her sister, she dated Travis in the past & Sera had feelings for him back then, they seem to work well together. Sera & Travis changed when she entered his private dwelling last time she saw him was at her sister's funeral, he wants there because her place isn't safe, now on a mission to bring down the trafficking ring. Travis knows to do the job he needs his brother's help they don't know he's been lying to them. Will Travis & Sera get a HEA its an in the edge of your seat suspense filled rollercoaster ride so buckle up to see what happens.
Travis is intense from the start of the story. His missions and his injuries are impossible to sustain alone. Sera is his dead girlfriend’s sister. Sera always feels invisible next to her sister. She is a quiet accountant, while her sister is a badass CIA operator. She has been in love with Travis when he was dating his sister. After her sister died in a mission, Travis builds his compound in a remote place to control the variables. He hardly steps outside except his solo missions. Sera became an FBI contractor. She uses her access on the job to build a model to track the child smuggler network. When she realizes someone has been in her apartment, she falls in a panic and seeks Travis out. Just to see him, if nothing else. Travis realizes they are tracking the same thing, just from different angles. Combining their models, they get perfect intel. But there are so many variables come to them. FBI, their history and feelings for each other, etc. all come at them at the same time. They need help from his team. The story is fast paced and the plot is complex. Travis and Sera are so similar in style and they need to sort out their feeling of love and guilt. Love this story!
Warrior Security: Travis Josie Jade Travis Hale sneaks out of his fortress in the dead of night to rid the world of evil. A tech genius, former spook and a recluse to the point that his fellow warriors think he never leaves his safe house. “Your apartment’s burned. They have your name, your face, your address. Until we build something strong enough to force a response from the FBI or another agency, you’re a target anywhere that isn’t here. The words landed one at a time.” Sera went to her dead sister’s man for help to destroy the people who killed her. She is so smart, detailed and in over her head. The tension builds between the leads and between them and the outside world is masterful. Ms Jade is a wonderful storyteller. I thoroughly enjoyed this read. And what could one say about Maude other than she is a great side character. A great protector romance with a tech geek aspect. Whilst this book is part of the Warrior Security world it can very much be read as a stand-alone novel with hea, much like Travis! I really enjoyed this read, the pacing, the plot, the characters were all top notch. I received an arc of this book 5 stars.
Haunted Hunter, Hard-Won Healing Sometimes a book just sinks its hooks in—and this one doesn’t let go. Travis is a man shaped by the past, living within the confines of his agoraphobia… or so it seems. Travis isn’t simply hiding—he’s hunting, going after the worst humanity has to offer while operating in the shadows where no one is watching. The premise is intense, a little chilling, and completely compelling. Then Sera shows up at his door—a connection to the life he thought he had left behind. Her presence shifts everything. Will he let her in, and what happens if he does? Their dynamic is a push and pull of grief, guilt, and unresolved feelings, made sharper by the danger surrounding them. There’s history between them, and it complicates everything in ways neither of them can ignore. Travis has always worked alone, but Sera challenges that in ways that feel both risky and necessary. And with the danger closing in, the tension never lets up. If you like your stories gripping, and your romance heartbreaking and healing all at once, you’ll want to read this book. I recommend the entire series to readers who enjoy romantic suspense.
I was so excited to delve into Travis’ story. Travis was a mystery that I wanted to unwrap. He is a recluse and created an underground bunker as a home (or so we thought). Why? I wanted to know the reason behind it. The story began with the introduction to Sera, Travis’ dead girlfriend’s sister. She is a very analytical person currently working for the FBI but to me, her strength is very underestimated. I loved how she inserted herself back into Travis’s life. They both had a lot of emotional baggage to work through as well as solving the case that killed Sera’s sister and Travis’ girlfriend. The book did get slow at times while the characters were dealing with their issues and learning to work together. As the backstory came together the story picked up again especially once the truth came out to Travis’s team (which I absolutely loved). I loved the ending, I loved how Travis begins trying to live in a healthier way, I adored the kittens, but Maude stole the show for me (you have to read the story to know who/what Maude is)!
Travis stole my heart, learning why he did what he did, what he sacrificed and put on the line. What he put himself through physically and mentally hit me hard. Thank goodness that the one woman who could break through to him broke into his world. I believed in the connection and chemistry between them, understood their history made things complicated for them and was so pleased to see them push through it all. Together they were a team, partners, they balanced each other out and made their lives so much better.
I loved that no matter the lies, half truths and secrets, Travis had a family who stood with him when he needed them to and that they made Stella part of their family too. Maude was such a fab character, she made me laugh and smile, as did the kittens, I felt a connection to her and then much later I found out why. Once I started reading this story I could not put it down, I enjoyed every moment of that. I am voluntarily leaving this review after receiving an ARC.
I have been interested in Travis since the series began, so interested to know why he lived ensconced in his compound. I was blown away by this story. Travis has debilitating agoraphobia. Nevertheless he's been acting as The Ghost, by rescuing children from a trafficking ring. Sera is an FBI analyst who spots patterns and she stumbles onto a big one. But no one wants to listen so she goes to the one person she thinks can help her. Sera has always had an attraction to Travis, but knew she never had a chance since he was dating her sister. After her sister's death Travis disappeared from her life, but she knew he had skills. Although he initially sends her away, when he discovers she knows the depth of her involvement he risks saving her. This is when the two of them discover each other in a new perspective. He begins to see her as a woman and realizes just how much he's isolated himself to avoid heartbreak. But this also means he's pushed away all his friends. But when Sera is in danger, he puts it all on the line to save her. Amazing HEA.
Travis and Sera’s story hooked me from the start. The emotional depth is incredible—Travis’s struggle with his agoraphobia after the CIA betrayal felt so real, and the way Sera slowly breaks down those walls had me rooting for them the whole way. Soon they are working together to bring down the trafficking ring that the FBI doesn't believe in the group that took her sister who just happened to be Travis's ex girlfriend
If you have been reading this series for a while like me you have probably been waiting for Travis's story and while it is gritty and hard in parts it also gives us some closure on his past
The warrior brotherhood adds such a solid layer of grit and loyalty to the narrative, and the action-packed final act kept me on the edge of my seat. It’s a perfect, hard-earned HEA that delivers on every level. Highly recommend to anyone who loves romantic suspense with real stakes!
Emotionally gripping and sure to please! The next book in Josie Jade's Warrior Security series is Travis's story. He's a bit of a mystery and even more so than anyone ever thought with an agenda that has him living recklessly until a blast from the past comes asking for help and blows the life that he knew to pieces. Sera is easy to like and has a compelling story herself. The best part of the book might just be Marge, the computer program he built that gives him more sass than a life partner ever could. I adored their relationship ... and Sera wasn't too shabby either! Great characters, a fast paced storyline and lots of danger and drama to sink your teeth into.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys a close knit group of friends and co-workers who have formed a brotherhood of love and laughter behind their mission to protect the innocent and continue their mission long after they return home.
Travis an agoraphobic recluse who never leaves his compound, a compound that was built specifically to keep everyone out, complete with top of the line security and a computer that talks back to him. So when Sera, his dead gf's younger sister who he hasn’t seen in years, bypasses all his security measures to talk to him about a known trafficking organization, his next move is to send her away. They both have secrets, about the past and present but they decide to work together to bring down an enemy and being in close quarters brings to surface all that both have been hiding for years. A great read that I couldn’t put down, flipping the pages and wanting more of these two. I loved both Travis and Sera, their personalities, limitations, vulnerabilities, strengths and their intensity, perfectly matched, balancing and healing each other. The descriptions were spot on, the story flowed beautifully and a great HEA that both deserved after so many years.
Oh wow!! Incredible!! There is so much emotion, passion and drama in this book that I was glued to the pages.
Travis is one of those characters that your heart won't let go. He is brilliant. He is flawed. He is honorable. He is determined. Sera is a woman who is also brilliant and honorable, but has been in a shadow that is all too familiar and unjust. Put these two people together and their similarities and passion know no bounds, which leads to the drama that Travis and Sera become a part of is dark and disturbing, making their mission to take down traffickers necessary.
This is a highly intense and suspenseful romance that will blow you away with characters that have integrity, loyalty and respect, a computer personality programmed with a dry sense of humor, three inquisitive kittens, deep emotional connections and a happy ending in more ways than one.
A no brainer for a reader who loves good writing, meaningful dialogue, complex characters, action driven drama and a soft underbelly of finding the right person to spend your days loving.
Travis hits you right in the gut. The pain and isolation he clings to are felt in every decision he makes. Your heart aches for him, even as your frustration with his stubborn need to push everyone away begins to build.
Sera awakens every protective instinct, and you can’t help but hold onto hope for her tender heart. Their attraction sizzles beneath the surface, leaving you waiting for the moment they finally give in and let that passion take over.
There’s a raw honesty in their connection, especially as both their hearts and their safety are put at risk. The brotherhood surrounding Travis adds strength and depth, with camaraderie that grounds the story.
As the action peaks toward the end, the tension ramps up, putting you on edge as their lives hang in the balance—leading to a hard-earned HEA.
A man with agoraphobia lives in a bunker underneath a nondescript house. However, he has a secret. A woman joined the FBI to find enough data analysis to dismantle the organization that killed her sister on her own. Her boss listens and the asks for what was assigned to her. She needs help and know just the person, her dead sister's boyfriend, Travis. When Travis discovers Sera broke into his compound, he is furious. He listens to her data analysis and then tells her to leave. She headed for trouble and it's his fault. As much trouble he has leaving his compound he goes to save her. They end up working together, after she discovers his secret. But feelings get in the way. He feels he doesn't deserve her, and she know she doesn't compare to her beautiful, intelligent, strong sister. Can they break down each other walls? A wonderful story I highly recommend.
The mysterious and reclusive Travis Hale finally gets his story and it was worth the wait. He's a man with more than his share of demons. None of the Warrior Security team has any idea just how bad off he is. Sera Bolland is tired of being ignored and mildly indulged. She always ran a distant second to her hard driving, talented and beautiful sister; even now, three years after her death. She's onto something that neither her boss nor any of the higher-ups at the FBI seem too concerned about. Frustrated, she turns to the one person she knows that can put all the pieces together and get the big picture, Travis. What ensues is a slow but steady relationship change. He's reluctant and she's afraid she can't/won't measure up. Discovering another side of him as well as learning his demons only serves to make her more determined to be by his side. There are lots of deep emotions and scars on both sides. Baring all is difficult but the resulting enlightenment is amazing for both of them. Oh! And, you're going to love Maude.
